The times my hair was near matted, was when i suffered from depression. So thanks for not judging and taking time to save her hair. I bet she was elated! 😊
Thank you for sharing this. I would think if you had chronic illness or sleep deprivation from being a new parent would make it really hard as well. Just another reason why we need to support each other. Grooming time with friends sounds wonderful ✨
Same. And the fact that doing 4C hair in a protective style takes like 4 hours. I wore head wraps every day, and a bonnet religiously even if I couldn’t do anything else. Fortunately just finger combing kept any mats from forming for me.
Just wanted to comment after several months of watching this channel. I'm a bald male and I'm addicted to watching the before, during and after process of hair channels. But your positive attitude and demeanor is what keeps me coming back to THIS channel. Anyone reading this, have a great day and KNOW things will get better.
@@patseyjohnson470 Thanks and you as well! Yeah I look better bald than with hair. Easy maintenance. Still like looking at hair videos. Seen the videos where men getting hair pieces. Looks nice and natural. But I like my bald head. Nice and simple is better for me.
As a white woman with very curly hair, I swear I have learned more about what to do and what not to do with my hair here than anywhere else. Ever. Thank you so much!
I'm white too with very thick, wavy hair, I have enough issue with it when it's humid and/or I break a sweat. I scrunch debit and it looks good, then I break a sweat and it turns into sheep's wool. I'm so impressed with what you go through on this type of hair. If it were me, I'd do the beautiful short fro and be done. Lol
@@moehansen6858I'm Chinese and mines 2B or C,a lot of Asians straighten their hair because it's considered beautiful, but I quite like my wavy/ wiry hair 😂 even though I do get a lot of suggestions to straighten it.
I watched this in TEARS!!! I have 4C hair and it’s a literal struggle. Just one big cotton ball that mats at the slightest opportunity! This gave me confidence to do my hair more!
As a black american person of color mixed with 33% European 2% South Asian and 4% Egyptian/Moroccan/Tunisian Arab I've never seen hair like this. I naturally have 2B at the most 2C hair after its soaken wet and dried. The front part of my hair naturally dries bone straight like white or hispanic people's hair the middle front is wavy and the thickest is in the middle at the back where its the waviest is not dense or coarse. I've always said black women should wear their own hair their natural beauty is the most beautiful. But I didn't know some of their hair was this much of a problem. Because black american women have always either straightened their hair with perms hair dryers or curling irons or since mid late 2000s worn wigs or weaves
I see now why black people make such a big deal about hair texture and why they rather just throw a wig on or permanently damage their scalp sowing weaves in. And where the word "good" hair is coming from. It looks like this type of hair would be a pain in the ass to deal with. We can see you cant even wash or comb your hair without a huge headache. I see why some probably wouldn't want to deal with it at all to where hygiene is bad when it comes to not washing or combing for months and years. I just get up and easily comb my straight wavy hair everyday. Never thought their were people out there who can't do that even if they tried. I also now see why I get so many stares from everybody not just black people. And why some insecure people with this type of hair would be jealous of some others with hair that's the complete opposite. And treat them differently.
My mother who has a half white half black grandmother and black asian mixed grandfather used to get so picked on when she was younger that she ended cutting her own long naturally straight hair off.. that went down to her butt.. because darker skin kids would bully her so much about it. When I see people like this with this type of 4C hair I see why insecure ones would target her like they did
I have 4 c hair and I’ve learnt how to simplify my hair routine and fall inlove with my hair. Also my hair is the thickest and longest it has ever been now.I stopped feeling overwhelmed and thinking my hair was difficult cause it REALLY ISNT (I PROMISE) If you need help I am totally open to sharing that with you or just chatting and venting about our hair type 😂
@@elo0o207yes to prevent breakage it it recommended not to manipulate the hair very much. That’s why many put it in braids and throw a wig on top of the braids.
I am an old white granny blessed with a beautiful bi-racial granddaughter that I adore. I am learning so much about hair from you that helps me understand what she’s got to do to get and keep her hair as beautiful as it is. Thank you very much.
I’m a 57 year old bald guy, who had fine, straight blonde hair 40 years ago. Why RUclips recommended this channel to me and why I’m fascinated by your videos is a mystery. What an artist you are! I just thought hair was hair, so what if it’s curly? I can’t believe the skills and knowledge you have.
YT has me watching Korean leather work, French shoe repairs, Greenlad "day in te life", German pastries.... All I know is that I have gotten a world of knowledge. Her skills with hair, kindness, and compassion make this world a better place.
This hair dresser deserves a medal for tackling this ladies hair. I was exhausted watching it. My kids are all so tender headed I don’t think they would survive this. God Bless you for doing what you do everyday. You are persistent and genuinely kind.
I’m a white woman with kids of color and I love learning through videos like yours. My foster daughter came with matted 4c hair and I was thinking we would have to shave it. I found a wonderful stylist who understands black hair and she did the works and saved her hair. A competent stylish is crucial! I wish I had as much hair as this lady!
@@shawnrobinson5912i just wanna say that its not always that simple. Reunification is a very important goal, and we don’t know why the kid was removed or how temporary that would be. Not all kids in foster care want to be adopted, or should be. Adoption doesn’t fix anything and not everyone wants to erase/have their roots erased for them. Adoption is not a happy fix its always portrayed as. Edit: if youre interested in learning more, the adoption triad and learning about the intricacies of that are important 🙂 no piece of paper is the be-all end-all of good guardianship!
🙋🏾♀️ As a fellow 4c …… (sigh) 🗣 THANK YOU! I sat in this chair with your client during her entire process! You ran down all our struggles. The tangling, the frustration, the “just cut it”, the instant reverting! That 4c came to the battle but did not win the war 🙌🏾 End result, cut, & style are beautiful ♥️
@@sharellecountz8501 Sometimes it happens when people are depressed/going through hard times. The last thing you are thinking about is your hair. You are just trying to survive.
One thing I can say, to have hair to even get tangled is a blessing, coming from someone who once had a lot of hair and now has none due to health issues. I regretfully complained about my 4c hair plenty of times. Now, I would love to have some hair to get tangled.
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. I ALWAYS HAD THICK LONG HAIR. MY HAIR STARTED THINNING AROUND MY EARLY 40'S. NOT TO ILLNESS, BUT HEREDITARY. ( BOTH SIDES OF MY FAMILY). I'M NOW AT THE PLACE WHERE I DON'T KNOW WHAT 2 DO WITH IT! I WEAR IT NATURAL. ( WHICH I NO LONGER LIKE). MY TEXTURE HAD CHANGED DRASTICALLY 4 THE WORSE! WIGS HURT. ( MY HEAD MUST BE 2 LARGE). I DON'T WANT A WEAVE, BUT I'M LEANING 2WARDS ONE. I SURE WISH I LIVED NEAR THIS " MAGICIAN"! YOUNG QUEEN YOU ARE AWESOME! MY LOVELY BEAUTICIAN LEFT MY STATE. 😥😪 BUT. I'M HAPPY 4 HER.
You can see in your clients body language just how she felt so defeated and sad about her hair at the beginning, then in the end she was smiling so broadly and the way she was holding herself you could tell she felt proud of how she looked. You didn't just fix her hair you fixed her spirit.
@@innamedvetskaya8398 You don't know this woman's situation. She could have been in the hospital sick, had an injury that prevented her from doing her hair. Or she could have been depressed. Who are you to judge?
Oh’STIOP! 🙄 There was absolutely NOTHING identifying within her body language at the beginning of this video that suggested she was “Defeated.” Some of you can be so freaking dramatic sometimes. It’s like you live TO TRY to find something that’s not even there!! 🤨
@@Randomperson16-q4j Nah.. She just didn't want to deal with that mess on Her head. Crazy... Some of these people want to make their 4C hair someone else's problem.
Hey Crystal, first let me preface this by saying some stylists wouldn't have touched your client's hair because of the way it looked. Hell, they wouldn't have touched it. But that's what set you apart from them too. You are a true fighter, that's that Cancer spirit and for those who doesn't know what that is; we as Cancers, we nurture, we fight, we protect, and we give love on all levels. Crystal that's exactly what you did for your client. You didn't give anyone room to speak negatively about her and the condition of her hair, thank you. I'm not surprised but many would be. You gave that lady a new life! You could see it before the end. At first she had a serious face, a protective face and then those eyes got bright as she saw that you were winning. Although she had a mask on you could see the HUGE smile on her face and I smiled with her! The end was nothing but a blessing and she was shining. I loved it! ❤
As a white woman with dead straight hair I was amazed and delighted to see genuine care and attention taken with her. She looked lovely. Well done you😊😊
Yesterday I was going to cut my 3-in, 4c matted, tangled hair for the second time in 5-mos. My hair fell into this condition due to back surgery I had last year. While recovering I was limited on what I could do. I found this video by accident before heading for the scissors. Crystal worked a miracle on this woman's hair! As I watched her do what I considered the impossible because that was the condition my hair was in, I began to have hope. After watching the video, I mimicked what Crystal did with my matted hair. I lost quite a bit of hair but I didn't have to whack it off again. Crystal, you're a Godsend! You are a highly skilled professional beautian with blessed hands. You saved my hair by sharing your haircare tips. I've been down mentally and physically for a long time due to my slow recovery. By making this video, you lifted my spirits! I wish you continued success in your business and your haircare brand. I placed an order and can't wait to use your products to get my hair in tip-top shape again God Bless! 🙏🏾
I've been in a similar situation for the past 18 months and have resorted to keeping my hair braided most of the time and cutting it myself with kitchen scissors when I can't bear the length any longer, since I can't really leave the house for a haircut. Just washing it takes more effort and energy than I currently have while recovering. I can't imagine dealing with 4c hair while going through this nightmare, so I feel for you!
I'm really sorry you are suffering from so much and I hope you a speedy recovery. I suffer from chronic back pain, but I'm sure it nothing as close to what you have been dealing with. I hope that maybe I can help.... My daughter by no means has 4c hair. She does have eurocentric texture with more afrocentric curl. If her hair isn't in a bonnet or braided at night. She wakes up a hot mess. Matting over night. I've noticed that braids have massively helped with that. I frequently lose things I struggle with finding her bonnet. I also just recently ordered her a couple zip up silk pillowcases off if Amazon. I'm sure you may have heard this before, if you haven't now now you have (?). 4c hair is absolutely beautiful& I'm sure it's a lot of work. I hope you're able to find some low maintenance options that help you in your hair care& growth. I really hope you the best of luck& healing.
I literally have tears in my eyes rite now. YOU DID THAT, SIS! AN ABSOLUTE MIRACLE! I have 4c hair, also. I've been a natural since 2009. I transitioned with no BC. I get it. That easily could have been me in your chair. But you are definitely doing God's work. I'm in awe of your talent. Slay, Queen...SLAY 💯💯💯💝👏🏽👏🏽
I’m an old white lady post menopause and I’ve lost most of my hair. I love watching your channel. Your attitude and care really are uplifting. You made her hair look so much more comfortable, easy to care and beautiful for her. Mine doesn’t hold a perm it’s so fine. I enjoy watching as you are a very eloquent teacher. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe.
I lost a lot of hair after birth control at 23… and more at 30 after long term stress… and more after my pregnancy… I am afraid I won’t make it to menopause with much of my former crown.
I have 4c hair, and I wish these videos had been around when I was younger! I'm retired and have transitioned to natural, unprocessed hair now, but I applaud your artistry!
Admittedly, I'm a white woman with SUPER fine/thin hair, so I don't know the struggle of having thick and/or curly hair. That being said, what you did with this lady's hair was beautiful. I'm sure stylists appreciate your going through the run-down of products you used. Watching you use the products and seeing how gentle you were and confident that what you were doing was going to make the lady happy was phenomenal. Great job! 😊
I just LOVE how kind you are to your clients!! Usually, I see people shaming their clients and stating that their hair was so matted and not well taken care of, and calling the client lazy! But I just love how you're very nice and accepting people of all backgrounds. Love this channel, keep it up!!
I cannot imagine having to go through this much effort to care for my hair, I thought I had it tough having pin straight, ultra fine hair. The finished hair in this video is absolutely gorgeous.
I can't imagine the feeling of the tangles so close to the scalp. That had to hurt! I love how you took her from "Just cut it all off" to loving her hair.
I have a daughter in law with extremely thick curly hair The issue is she was adored and raised by a white family and now is with a white family and we have no idea how to maintain and treat her hair
You did an amazing job on this clients hair. Her scalp must feel invigorated. I love your channel even though I’m an older white woman with a biracial grandson who has type 3A hair which I suspect will be a 3C when he hits the teen years. You explain everything and it’s very educational.
I’m a white girl with hair that’s hardly even wavy, but this video was fascinating. Seriously, the technique and the tools and the patience, everything, it was incredible! All the little details you knew, even what type of metal the iron needed to be, all of that, it really shows your passion for hair. I’m now on a binge watching the rest of the videos in your channel
I have the Hair From Hell! I have wavy hair, and in humid days , it is absolutely tragic, you can’t comprehend how hair can do what mine does 😫🤣 I probably could put so much more work into doing my hair, but the professional touch is the only thing that helps👍🏻
Honey, this BEFORE and AFTER is literally unbelievable! It truly took knowledge, skill, quality products, and patience to accomplish what you did. Job very well done Crystal! 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾
Kudos to this hairdresser. She absolutely knows very well what's she's doing. I can't imagine the long hours it took her but my respects for her professionalism
I love this. I know many people don't think about this but some older people have trouble with their hair due to arthritis. My mom has rheumatoid arthritis and can barley lift her arms. I would have done it for her but we lived in different states at the time (thankfully not anymore) so she ended up getting locks and goes to the salon to have her hair washed, retwisted, and maintained which helped tremendously

This is amazing. My hair behaves just like this and I finally gave in after 5 years of natural and relaxed it. Had I had a stylist like you I may have been able to maintain my natural hair but the longer it grew the more difficult it became to care for. I work full time and just didn’t want to spend my little free time dealing with hair. You are making such a difference in your clients lives. Wow.
Try locs? Honestly sister locks or small style normal locs is a god send for 4c hair. It’ll still require work, but there’s a plethora of information on how to take care of it. The main takeaways are moisture, oils and ACV rinse to wash away build up.
Yesss great job!! But I have to say, I am so glad you posted this video because as a fellow hairstylist, I know our 4c clients struggle with there natural texture and may sometimes neglect it..Hairstylist like “us” view this as a challenge especially if the client is feeling a certain way about it! I don’t see a lot of educational videos from us professionals on the real care for 4c hair. So thank you cause the whole time I was like “ooh she right, yep she right” lol
You are you are a blessing to so many people that don't know how to do their hair or just let themselves go when it comes to their hair you are a professional and I know a lot of people thank God for you❤❤❤❤❤❤
I grew up in a salon and I’m amazed at how many hairdressers don’t know how to cut hair let alone style it. I’m generalizing right now but you black ladies seriously are amazing when it comes to everything from the basics on up. I just get a thrill watching these videos and seeing the quality that should be expected in all stylists. Keep those videos coming they’re awesome. (Side note: I swear beauty schools should be recommending your videos and others like it to their students!! Seriously!)
Most of these ppl that do hair now aren’t even classified as *_hairdressers_* they really just *_stylists_* bc most of them won’t even shampoo and condition your hair b4 styling. Smh…
WOW! So many products are needed! I respect the hard work you do! I'm a white girl & never realized how difficult it is to care for such thick, curly hair. BRAVO, Miss hairdresser!!
Being an older (58) white, gray hair lady I of course don't have this issue with my hair. But as a woman, we all have our hair problems. I just love these videos for the upbeat, professional and thoughtfulness being shown. We all like to look out best, and this shows absolutely beautiful hair. It shows when someone loves their job.
She has beautiful hair! So dense. I hope she learns to care for her hair. There are so many women, especially in her age group, that would love to have a full head of hair like this.
I agree; she should appreciate and take the lessons learned and train her thick and beautiful hair. And please lady, don’t cut it. Just get your trims at the schedules times.
@@patriciabrooks303 well don’t cut it out off not bringing herself into the knowledge of how to care for it. If she decides to cut it one day, hopefully it’s because she wants to for a style. I don’t mean any harm, but at this age she still doesn’t know how to comb her own hair? I can understand if she’s a spring chicken but she’s a well seasoned hen. Maybe there are some underlying issues we aren’t privy to. I understand things happen.
@@TheePrettyGirlSwagI know Crystal recommended some products from her product-line she can use to care for her hair. Hopefully, she paid attention and can maintain her hair at home or find a good stylist. At her age, all she have to do is simply comb and brush her hair daily, and shampoo and condition on a weekly basis. Her hair would even look good in a twist-out style.
@@TheePrettyGirlSwag everyone should learn how to care for their hair. Some people just don't. It could be from laziness, depression or just life itself. Maybe she will go to the shop more often now.
I related so much to this client! I have extremely thick and densely packed hair. I reached my breaking point over the pandemic and chopped off all of my hair. I couldn’t take it anymore and couldn’t handle it by myself. Unfortunately, all the salons were closed. Starting my journey of growing it back out again. Thank you for this informative video!
i am so happy i came across this video , I am 35 and this is my hair , i really thought i was looking at myself , it takes me 2 days to de-tangle , my hair dreads so fast and my root get so thick i can put my finger in it , it is so much maintenance , the ball of hair that i loose is crazy ! but as a 35 years old many times i find myself depressed and really want to shave it off but i am so insecure about my head shape , the amount of money and time spend on my 4c hair , thank you for the video and for educating ,
I just don’t understand how someone can neglect their hair to that point… But what a result! 🙏🏻 God bless you, girl! You changed her whole life, im sure! ❤
Wow, that turned out gorgeous! I used to do hair and thought I'd seen it all but I am just floored about the hair retangling and reverting back so quickly. You did a beautiful job on this lady's hair and you're so kind and nonjudgmental.
I am a European American woman with hair so fine I say "when my hair is wet, I have a brown scalp". This process was fascinating. You are a miracle worker. I know a Black woman's hair can be high maintenance but ALL women want beautiful hair. Keep making dreams come true. Big thumbs up!!!
I’m filled with admiration for your skills in dealing with this 4c hair if your client. I’m Caucasian with the after effects of chemo. It changed from coarse to very fine. I lived my coarse hair. It took very little care except and excellent cut and using shampoo and conditioner Now I use Olaplex products and hair oil and a mask plus Vit B complex to maintain the hair I have left.
She walked out of there with her confidence so high, she was floating to cloud 9 🥰👏🏽. There may been many reason to why it got the way it was (we all have our moments) but, - you brought her back. No idea how I ended up here before going to sleep but OMG seriously it’s hard to believe that is the same hair 😮 from no movement at all to super shinny and soft..seriously I’m speechless
I don't have the same hair type, but I know a lot of us neglect ourselves when we're depressed, busy, unwell. I gave myself a short haircut (short enough not to get fairy knots or huge knots) as I felt depression coming on. Preemptive haircut. 😂 I came out the other end without huge matting, thankfully. This was a couple years ago, and it really helped me preserve my hair health.
I understand the depression all too well. I hope you’re feeling better. I I also suffer with major depression and prior to Covid was gojng through very hard times. Depression kept worsening and I stopped caring for myself, and had no idea my straight fine hair could matt so horribly when I’d given up and wasn’t washing it at all for months! I’ve been so ashamed of myself and I feel so embarrassed and worthless because it DID HAPPEN TO ME! I’ve still got this enormous hunk of hair on the very top of my head nearly matted completely to my scalp. I’ve been tryjng to get it loosened for almost 2 FULL WEEKS now!! I’ve tried everything I’ve read and so many products and it will not budge! I won’t let anyone see me and I’ve not been able to leave the house. it’s that BAD! Not even a cap or hoodie or anything will disguise it now if I could find someone to help me! I’m so desperate right now and it’s nobody’s fault but mine. I hate myself for allowing this to happen. I’ve only told a couple people who don’t understand depression at all. One said I was so lazy I deserved it. Omg I’ve been so upset 😭 and don’t know what else to do. This is the most awful thing I’ve ever done to myself and I’m not young. This is destroying me. I wish the very best for you! ❤

I have Asian hair so I do not have the same problems as your clients but I just loved watching this video. You performed a miracle on this lady’s hair. Wow!
You are a MIRACLE WORKER! She looks absolutely gorgeous - and so deserved your expertise (whom among us doesn’t need help)! At first, I thought, my gosh, just cut it all off, not seeing any way her hair and scalp could be cleaned let alone saved. Just the look on her face through the process speaks her self transformation. For us women, especially, our hair is our crowning glory, and when it’s suffering, we seem to, too. You just bootstrapped her new trajectory for self-love. ❤️
Best thing I've been able to do for my thick 4c hair is allow a good conditioner to sit in it and soften it down. After 30-45m in a cap, comb glides through and blow drying is so much easier! I know that's not practical in a salon, but works great for my at home washings.
Her hair is a beautiful! So thick and healthy. The roots looked knotted but not locked. I started getting to my roots because I the tangling is a lot for stylists. Some are not patient with the naps. Shout out to us 4c ladies!❤
It's always important to detangle the hair with oil and conditioner before Shampooing so that it doesn't cause even more matting.I learned that a while ago. When you wet tangles, they kind of clinch even more together like you said in the video.
Absolutely gorgeous! I wear braids a lot because it keeps the hair out of my face. That however allows for dreads to develop and they do quickly in my hair. I'm caucasian with Spanish, Swedish & Native American heritage. My hair is crazy enough I've shaved myself bald multiple times so I don't have to deal with it. Watching your videos gives me hope for a self care approach and not always having to rely on a salon. Your work is amazing!! Keep up the good work lady! Bless up.
Your spirit is so loving and gentle and I can see you put so much love in doing her hair and all you do. I agree! Especially braiding hair. I have no idea how they do it but it's amazing! I also love the thick curly big hair! It's my absolute favorite and I'm jealous of anyone with that hair 🤣
Most incredible hair care I have ever seen. Had never heard of hair grades, much less 4C. I have ordinary old straight Anglo grey hair, never imagined hair could give so much trouble or be so beautifully restored. So impressive. Congratulations!
I have straight, light brown hair, was blonde as a kid. In university I had a roommate with similar hair to this woman, but not as dense. She had braids in her hair, and had left them too long, so there was a protein buildup. It took us an entire weekend to un-do her hair, one braid at a time. After that, she would go through a process similar to this every other weekend, with the curling iron so hot it smoked. I have never been more grateful for my boring hair. Before that I hated that I couldn’t curl it, even tried to perm it, which didn’t hold at all. After that, I appreciated what I had. I’m now going grey, and it’s got some wave in it. I can’t say I’m complaining… 😂
@@sabrlyon5220 by ordinary I can assure you she means plain or even boring! My hair is fine, straight, thinning and greying. It just hangs there! No style lasts. I have to wash it daily if I don't want it to look greasy. I love curly hair. ❤
This makes me appreciate my thin fine hair more, it's amazing I feel like her hair is the polar opposite of mine! I'm so happy she had you to bring a smile to her face as i know how much your hair can affect your mental health. ❤
I am a white woman with finer curly blonde hair. I have little in common with the clients hair in these videos but I am mesmerized by the process and outcome. Also my hair is the thickest and longest it has ever been now.I stopped feeling overwhelmed and thinking my hair was difficult cause it REALLY ISNT (I PROMISE) If you need help I am totally open to sharing that with you or just chatting and venting about our4 c hair. ❤❤
I would like to know. I’m in a position right now where I haven’t touched my hair in 2 months. No combing, no covering it up at night, nothing. I have dreads right now, fluff in every section of hair, it’s a literal nightmare. For the past 2 days I have been trying to go through it, picking at it with the end of a rat tail comb and I’m exhausted.
I know women with 4c hair who just resort to keeping it very low so they don’t have to deal with it. It’s an everyday thing and can’t just let it go. I have maybe 3a or b hair. I roll it on rods every night and I use black castor oil. I do not let it get dry. It’s continually growing and I’m 70 years old. Have to give it tender loving care. It’s always beautiful.
@@youaintmymommaonperiodt8007medium twist help my hair. Im like you where i haven't really touched my hair--new mom and i barely have time to shower. But before baby, i did medium twist kept it in just long enough got it nit to dread then rock the twist out out then a afro them repeat. I was able to get my hair to almost waist length hear which is where im at now but i font have time even to throw those in now,
4c hair is absolutely beautiful but it is stressful. It’s like saying children are precious and a blessing which they are but denying the tiring process it takes to raise them correctly. Our hair takes a process. I’ve wasted tons of money finding the right products for my hair and still haven’t mastered it yet I basically settled with what I have because I can’t keep running to the beauty supply trying every option. But even then I did all of that just for none of the products I have bought to work on my daughter’s hair who also has 4c hair. Guess what? Loss of money =stress. I have went to professionals and the best they can do is keep my ends cut/trimmed but their products suck too that’s also depressing. The slightest moisture in the air can make our silk press go poof and if you don’t handle your Afro or natural styles daily, it can become easily matted so that’s also stress. Thick 4c hair can feel like a nightmare on wash day. Fight through every kink to the root making sure every nap is combed out is stressful and time consuming. I’ve given up on weaves because my scalp itches like crazy but remaining free too long leads to breakage even when I condition moisturize and oil regularly, can’t use too much heat. I love it I’ll always choose to stay natural even with the struggles because God didn’t make a mistake and I have to show with actions that I love me and my hair so my daughters will do the same and not feel like they have to hide behind wigs and constant heat. So while the battle is worth it because 4c hair is great I understand why many women want to cut their hair. It’s not fair to deny the reality that we have to deal with regarding our texture of hair.
Wow i love this, i love your vibes. I feel like i see so many hairdressers spend a lot of time complaining in videos but you're so positive and chill. Like 'this was hard but i did it, i did it right, and i did it well, and we're both happy' ❤
I'm facing a situation like your client (maybe more so) and to be honest, just the thought of having to deal with my matted and tangled hair makes me super depressed on top of my major depression and other illnesses. This gives me so much hope. Thank you so very much.
Oh man, I can relate. A job like that can feel like such a challenge and you are down on your energy right now. But, it looks like it can be done. I myself wish we did not have to care about these strings coming out of our heads!!!😅 I care about you and how you are feeling and so do others. ❤
I agree. You can tell the intensity of my depression by my hair. I love being natural but with a mood disorder, it may be easier to get back to a relaxer for when I can’t bare to do it and then avoid it
I’m just a silly hispanic/polish heritage teen with about 3a hair but watching this kind of stuff I’m always able to take away a couple little tips to improve my own hair care and I love them for that
I came here by accident and I am in awe because I feel like I am watching you do my hair. My hair is just like this client's, tangling, texture, behavior all of it. I HATE washing my hair because of the tangling. I have been thinking about relaxers which I haven't had in 4 years, but watching this video I have reconsidered. Thank you for this video and your care for our hair. Be blessed sista!
Stay encouraged! Try parting in 4 sections. If your hair is thick, use 6. Put on some good, ole school music or your fav movie and detangle One section at a time BEFORE shampooing. It’s a game changer. Signed a mother of three girls with ultra thick hair. ❤
She has such absolutely beautiful hair. It truly is moving to see you bring it back to its glory and I know it helped heal her spirit at the same time. She got well enough to the point of being able to come see you and after looking so beautiful she will have more hope, positivity and energy to take yet another step forward 🙏
I can definitely sympathize with her client, I have 4c coily/curly hair texture as well and for more than 30 years I kept it relaxed and when the new growth would show even a little bit, I had to hit it with a hot comb just to get by, and I never had any hair loss. After a while I got tired of the process and in 2002 I decided to go natural, starting with extension braid to grow out the perm, then cornrows, twists, and finally I Loc'd my hair in 2003 and its been that way ever since and I couldn't be happier!!
I know what you mean by break her roots down. When I was relaxed my hair never looked relaxed either. Now I keep my hair pressed when it’s out to keep my hair “broken down” it’s easier to manage for me versus letting it be free to mat at the roots as you have shown. Lovely transformation ♥️
She has gorgeous thick hair and the salt and pepper is so pretty (but the colour you used is nice too; it's got that kind of subtle and rich depth to it). I know nothing about curly hair care but even I can tell you have tremendous expertise. She looked so happy with the results!
I empathize with her because people usually are going through tough times when they neglect their basic haircare regimen. Some just don't have the time but others may be severely depressed. 💔
YOU DIDN'T TRANSFORM HER HAIR, YOU TRANSFORMED HER LIFE!

Nothing but respect for people with 4c hair! There’s so much work that goes into it but damn it if it isn’t the prettiest textured hair out there!!
I'd rather have Japanese or Chinese hair, straight and shiny and no work. That's the best texture out there!
I agree with it being the best hair texture. I wish i had 4c hair

Also my hair is the thickest and longest it has ever been now.I stopped feeling overwhelmed and thinking my hair was difficult cause it REALLY ISNT (I PROMISE)

Sometimes it happens when people are depressed/going through hard times. The last thing you are thinking about is your hair. You are just trying to survive.
That's my hair all day. I gave up and just loc'd it up a year ago.
One thing I can say, to have hair to even get tangled is a blessing, coming from someone who once had a lot of hair and now has none due to health issues. I regretfully complained about my 4c hair plenty of times. Now, I would love to have some hair to get tangled.
Ditto, I would love tohave my thick hair back. Watched this video in envy. As i age the hair on top of my head is thinning.
Hey Crystal, first let me preface this by saying some stylists wouldn't have touched your client's hair because of the way it looked. Hell, they wouldn't have touched it. But that's what set you apart from them too.
She has beautiful hair! So dense. I hope she learns to care for her hair. There are so many women, especially in her age group, that would love to have a full head of hair like this.
So, true.
Thank you for this informative video!
i am so happy i came across this video , I am 35 and this is my hair , i really thought i was looking at myself , it takes me 2 days to de-tangle , my hair dreads so fast and my root get so thick i can put my finger in it , it is so much maintenance , the ball of hair that i loose is crazy ! but as a 35 years old many times i find myself depressed and really want to shave it off but i am so insecure about my head shape , the amount of money and time spend on my 4c hair , thank you for the video and for educating ,
I just don’t understand how someone can neglect their hair to that point…
But what a result! 🙏🏻 God bless you, girl! You changed her whole life, im sure! ❤
My hair reverts just like this, tangles like this. Her hair is gorgeous!!
Wow, that turned out gorgeous! I used to do hair and thought I'd seen it all but I am just floored about the hair retangling and reverting back so quickly. You did a beautiful job on this lady's hair and you're so kind and nonjudgmental.
Yes, i feel the same way ❤.
What is European American? An European who moved to the States, or an American who moved to Europe?🙈
Beautiful, beautiful u know ur work u r a peofession from the old school not say u're old. because ure not.The 4:45
I also have thin, very fine hair. I l've realised we often want the opposite of what we have. I would love thick curly hair.

I’m filled with admiration for your skills in dealing with this 4c hair if your client. I’m Caucasian with the after effects of chemo. It changed from coarse to very fine. I lived my coarse hair. It took very little care except and excellent cut and using shampoo and conditioner
Now I use Olaplex products and hair oil and a mask plus Vit B complex to maintain the hair I have left.
She walked out of there with her confidence so high, she was floating to cloud 9 🥰👏🏽.
There may been many reason to why it got the way it was (we all have our moments) but, - you brought her back. You revived what she felt was missing.
Keep doing what you beautiful. Those hands (skills) save lives 🤍
Can y'all even imagine how wonderful that sink treatment felt to her??? This was nothing short of miraculous and the finishing look???!!!! Speechless. Sheer perfection.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
@@Symnsn Oh, darling! First off, here's a hug from a fellow human who cares about you. 🫂 Secondly, it's OK and it's SUPER SUPER common. Your age doesn't matter! I'm a mother of three with a teenager! We're going to remain human beings until we leave the planet, so there's no point in expecting yourself to stop having human weaknesses and tendencies!
Try going to a hairdresser and asking for help. If your budget won't allow it, look for a beauty school in your area, and speak with the trainers there. Maybe it could be a special project for one of their students. She could list it on her resume. You may inspire someone there to specialize in these cases (there are MANY) or to volunteer time. YWin, win.
Be gentle with yourself. Would you ever be so hard on someone else who's going through a tough time? You deserve a loving parent, and you can be that parent to yourself. Say it in the mirror. "Nancy, honey, I'm so sorry you're sad. But, you're not alone. I love you, and I'll take care of you."
@@Symnsn I can relate. Continued BLESSINGS to you.
@@Symnsn hey i just thought i'd say that you're not the only one going through this. its not your fault. you're not lazy, and you shouldn't hate yourself for letting this happen to you. at the end of the day, life can take over at times, we just have to push through as best as we can even if that means neglecting ourselves along the way. keep pushing, hope all gets sorted out :)
What a lucky woman to have such thick, dense hair! Beautiful job!❣️
Which conditioner do you use
@@amberb4984 I use heavy conditioners like Thank God It's Natural (TGIN) Raw Black Honey.
Beautiful! Kudos to you on all your hard work and to your client for sitting through it!
Her hair is a beautiful! So thick and healthy. The roots looked knotted but not locked. I started getting to my roots because I the tangling is a lot for stylists. Some are not patient with the naps. Shout out to us 4c ladies!❤
I’m incredulous that you were able to get that matted hair looking this beautiful! You are a patient woman! Great job she looks beautiful!
It's always important to detangle the hair with oil and conditioner before Shampooing so that it doesn't cause even more matting.I learned that a while ago. When you wet tangles, they kind of clinch even more together like you said in the video.
Thanks for that tip! Yes it gets worse when the water 💦 hits it..
Bless up.
This was an amazing transformation! You’ve got major skills and talent ! You should be working with celebrities!
Your spirit is so loving and gentle and I can see you put so much love in doing her hair and all you do. This was beautiful for me to see, especially since I have 4c hair and it’s breaking and I’m going through major anxiety and depression now being a teacher. I feel its hope for a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for sharing this!
Even with her issues at the beginning, you can tell how strong and amazing her hair is. I've known people with type 4 hair who can't get length to save their lives.
She looks amazing at the end. Great testament to your skill and talent, and her hair's strength and resilience.
I have the Beast 4C won't grow to save his life I have never seen this strong in my life I wish my hair was like hers I wish I could slay my and get it to grow. Some say is nutritional deficiency and lack of sunlight so guess that's the problem
Absolutely beautiful. My sister has 4c hair and I’m watching these to hopefully help her. I know her hair stresses her out so it’s extremely matted and she avoids washing her hair, I hope to help her. Thank You for making these videos ❤❤❤
The finish product was amazing!!!!
She needed you to be very understanding and thoughtful. You took your time and gave her everything she needed. Hopefully you can help her get a routine so that she can continue to care for her hair. Great work as always ‼️
Good grief, this is amazing!!! this lady has the most beautiful hair! Incredible transformation 🙈
Yes indeed. The care she puts in when doing their hair.
As my Grandma would say "You sho nuff is a damn good Hair Dresser"!

It's truly an artform!
As a middle aged white woman I’m in complete agreement!
Love these videos!
I'm a black woman with an adopted white child (girl) and I love to watch videos of white women drying (usually blonde), getting hair extensions and issues with getting body and maintaining styles!! It's fascinating to see their battles too. Girls we all suffer for beauty. 😆 🤣 😂 😹

“Ordinary”
Bias is wild
@@sabrlyon5220It’s ordinary for an old Anglo woman!
I also have over the moon respect for women with these kinds of challenges with their hair. Ladies, my hat is off to you for the amount of work and expense it takes to have beautiful locks. Bless you!
I would like some of those looks, too!
Wow!! What a GREAT JOB!! YOU DID THAT SISTAH 😆 LOL
Women's hair says so much about how they feel about themselves thank you for taking the time to help her feel as beautiful as she is! 🥰
1. I'm so impressed w/ your work on this customer. Her hair looks so lovely!
2. The time commitment required for those w/ tight curls is overwhelming.
3. My biracial son (age 35) has shoulder length Nigerian hair & typically gets cornrows or box braids. If I'd had a daughter, it would have been a steep learning curve for me to handle it properly.
4. I really enjoyed this vid. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Blessings from Minnesota.

TO ALL 4 C HAIR GIRLS….your hair is not a lot ,difficult or stressful

If you need help I am totally open to sharing that with you or just chatting and venting about our4 c hair.
❤
I know women with 4c hair who just resort to keeping it very low so they don’t have to deal with it. It’s an everyday thing and can’t just let it go.
I have maybe 3a or b hair. I roll it on rods every night and I use black castor oil. I do not let it get dry. It’s continually growing and I’m 70 years old. Have to give it tender loving care. It’s always beautiful.

Beautiful work.. congratulations
I'm facing a situation like your client (maybe more so) and to be honest, just the thought of having to deal with my matted and tangled hair makes me super depressed on top of my major depression and other illnesses. This gives me so much hope. Thank you so very much.

I agree. You can tell the intensity of my depression by my hair. I love being natural but with a mood disorder, it may be easier to get back to a relaxer for when I can’t bare to do it and then avoid it

I can definitely sympathize with her client,
I have 4c coily/curly hair texture as well and for more than 30 years I kept it relaxed and when the new growth would show even a little bit, I had to hit it with a hot comb just to get by, and I never had any hair loss. After a while I got tired of the process and in 2002 I decided to go natural, starting with extension braid to grow out the perm, then cornrows, twists, and finally I Loc'd my hair in 2003 and its been that way ever since and I couldn't be happier!!
Yes thick natural hair is beautiful!
