I've shaved my hair 12 years ago and I immediatly loved the feeling of freedom and strenght that I still feel today... So liberating, so empowering 🙏...
I so know the liberating feeling your experiencing. I"ve had long hair my whole life! I choose to buz my hair off after being informed that the chemo I would be given would cause my hair to fall out. Ef that! I'm not letting c take my hair. So a little over 1 month agoI had a dear friend come over with her buzzers and the two of us had a , Hair We Go "party". My hair was just above my butt to completely buzzed off. I thought I'd be sad, but I'm not. It was liberating, even under my circumstance. I choose to be in charge on how and when my hair would go. Once I've completed chemo than I decide how long or short I'll grow it. So, here's to new beginnings 🥂 😁
A 'hair we go' party?? I LOVE that. Good for you for taking charge. I hope for all the best for your health in this up coming year. New year, new beginnings right?? 💖💖💖
@@kerryschotten8516 Congratulations on the end of chemo. That must have been a really long, difficult journey. I hope everything is going well now. 💖💖💖
*Please know that some of us truly admire your look. I absolutely love yours and your husbands locks. It's such a beautiful look. Not once have i ever thought you were grimey or whatever else you think people stereotype or judge you as. You are beautiful, you and your husband are a beautiful couple, and you have a beautiful family. The pictures blew me away. Stunning. I love the genuine energy you exude*
The baby cried when she saw her mom without her locs. That blows me away. Seriously, mom is cute enough to wear her hair however she wants and be fabulous. I'm so happy she went about it slowly and at her own pace and kept just one.
When my boyfriend at the time and I had a long distance relationship, I asked him to grow a goatee. When we joined back up the dog kept barking at him til he was clean shaven again.
I had quit cutting my hair when my first grandchild was born. 20 years later I was exactly where you described at the tiredness. I braided it in one plait and wallah, its now shaved short!! I love it! I broke a tradition yet my ancestors approved!❤
It is so refreshing to see people buzz their hair. I buzzed mine 3 years ago and it was an incredible feeling, immediately feeling free. I also took a Polaroid of me cheesing so hard I was so happy. Instantly when you cut your locs you notice your face and how lovely you look. Congrats on starting fresh
When I had my son at 30 my waist length hair got shorter and then shorter. And then when I got to my 40’s I got this crazy notion to buzz my hair off. Been 3 years and I haven’t looked back. So I can understand. You are a beautiful person no matter the length of your hair. And your family is just the sweetest. Sending lots of love and good vibes from California.
Magnificent change.. we hold energy in our hair, especially in dreads, that sometimes needs to be released, let go, so it comes back in different ways..."life changes, people change, hair grows back".. A simple but lovely profound statement!
Been watching many of your videos. Juby, your vulnerability in this one is beautiful. I'm about twice your age and your wisdom shines. Even though it's an old video.... The message is still there. You're beautiful through and through
Zaz Grey I shaved my 26 year old locks off 2 yrs ago and I loved the freedom afterwards of having short hair. I remember the first hair wash. Pure bliss. I could feel my scalp and it felt good. I have them in a bag now😆
I decided to cut my hair short last year I had long frizzy hair I was straightening it to control it it was so exhausting it was stressful and I honestly was sick and tired of doing this all the time sl i went very nerves to the hairdresser with my 12 year old son determined to cut my hair short i regretted my decision at first thinking did i make the right decision but it didnt matter my hair was cut ans my long hair was not coming back as the weeks went by and my hair started to grow a little i started to like my hair and this might not make sense but I feel like I wasn't meant to have long hair my hair is better because of my decision
I don't think I have to say it, I think you already know how gorgeous you are regardless of your hair. With or with out dreadlocks you are beautiful all over. You have a very beautiful family.
Hello beautiful family.. I had my locs for 13 years. Cutting them off was one of the hardest and most liberating moments. I wrote out “chop chop” on the floor with them and sent a photo to my friends and family. Teehee!
I love the new look! I also had very long hair for several years. When I was in college, I realized that short haircuts could be fun and liberating as one of my roommates got her hair chopped off. I wrestled with the idea of doing it for myself for a few months. I was still in the dating phase with my husband at the time, and I worried that such a dramatic change would have an affect on our relationship. I showed him some pictures and he said he didn't know anything about hairstyles and just wanted me to feel good about whatever I chose. With that, I got a very short cut and I have never looked back. I've had shaggy pixie cuts for close to 20 years now. It's fun, easy to maintain, and actually suits the shape of my face better than long hair.
You are SO GORGEOUS Juby! This inspired me to do mine now. I don't have dreadlocks but my hair is a long as yours to my knees and I'm SO tired of having to put my hair up everytime I go to bed or the bathroom or when my kid's are tangled in it behind me (Oh the pain) or closing it in the car door. I'm just SO tired and want to cut it so bad but I get afraid every time. I think it's been like a security thing this time for me because it's shielded me from so many things. But I'm really feeling ready lately and I'm ready to donate it away and honestly I think that's the best part of it for me to get over it. Thanks for the inspiration.💪🏼😊 Whether your hair is long or short, dreadlocks or not, you can SO easily pull it off, you're truly SO BEAUTIFUL. 💜 P.S...♒ February girl right here too🙋♀️

This was great. I loved hearing about the dread journey and the photos. Mine are 8.5 years and already shaved underneath all around. When I first shaved it, I did it myself, and when I took my dread bun down, I had accidentally cut off several of my longest dreads! But I love the shaved underneath feeling. Much fresher. Thanks for sharing.
I have never seen one of your videos before but am so glad I did. I am a decade older than you with 3 beautiful children and very happily married for 20 yrs. I have had many friends with dreads but never tried them myself and realised tonight I probably never will. You looked so stunning with them and simply stunning without as your light shines from within your soul. It is a pleasure to have ‘met’ you guys and I can’t wait to see further videos. Big love, Elizabeth Xx
I am 61 and have let my hair grow in the last 7 years, so it´s now past my waist!I cut about 5 fingers about 2 mos ago (because it was way past it) and right now I am at the point where I feel also, that I want to cut it.... the thing is that sometimes "being different" (not many 61 year olds have waist length hair) gets another point accross and cutting it would make me look like the rest, so I am really debating!Like you said, it´s not an overnight thing getting it to be that long!YOU made the right decision. I think, after hearing you talk.
What a beautiful homage to the last 9 years . And you are beautiful inside and out no matter what hairstyle you are rocking! Thank you for sharing this experience.
Groovy 2020! I haven't heard that saying, "groovy", since the sixties. Both of you remind me of my youth in the sixties, we had the grooviest fashion, music, love and peace wishes for everyone, including the squares. lol Peace and Love to you both and baby.
20:40 "I'm excited to see what this decade holds" Oh girl 😂 if only January 2020-you knew the shitshow that this year would unfold into. Stay safe, stay kind, stay healthy and clean 👋
Girl, the moment my hair was long enough for my husband to roll onto it at night and for me to not be able to move i cut it! I feel all your pains with long hair. Can’t imagine the weight of it all. You still look so beautiful 🤍
Oh my gosh I am turning thirty this year too and literally just buzzed my head and it is the weirdest most freeing thing I have ever done!! Love your new look and that you have one left 🥰
Do you have videos with your new hairdo?? I only see longer hair in your videos. I'm thinking of cutting my hair super short and would love to see yours. 💖💖💖
I love hippies.😌 As a lifelong Kansan, the only place I've lived with this same beautiful energy is in Lawrence, (Kansas) where communes are commonplace! You look stunning!! May your Family Be Well. ~namaste💞
I wanted to tell you how proud I am for your growing. I truly believe we help ourselves free when we're ready to lead. You give hope to float. Thank you showing us what feels real to heal.
I have just found this video 2yrs after you making it. I loved seeing the photos of your dread journey as you spoke of it beforehand... im 11yrs in with no end in sight. My boys have gone through it though, my partner after 10yrs keeping 4 right at the crown, and my 7yo had 4yr mature dreads made with his 3yr old baby hair, that needed to come off for a properly formed sectioned set... its still fresh for us. And a real impact on us all. Your husband is a beautiful support. What a powerful team for your beautiful Azalea. Im in Qld Australia:)
I was 50 when I started my locks, they are almost 10 years old now, I recently cut them shoulder length because they were getting really heavy. I instantly regretted it! I'm letting them grow out again. I left my four original dreads and use them for tying up the others. I loved seeing your journey. Wow! how many dreads did you have? Oh that had to feel fantastic the first time brushing. Your end results are Beautiful! Cheers to your next phase of your journey!
Hope this comment isn’t too long or boring. I am a 50 year old woman that has lived a wonderful adventurous life and was fortunate enough to travel the world. I was in the IS military as a young single woman so I would travel regularly in countries by myself before cell phones. It was liberating and I loved every second of it. I went through an intense time of soul-searching (from 27-30) before I met my spouse as I had had a very traumatic childhood. I kind of got to the end of this and realized that although I knew my real value was not found in my beauty and I firmly believed that, that I was holding on to my longer hair because I though that was the one thing that made me beautiful. I don’t know if that make sense..... kind of like if I cut my hair that no man would ever find me beautiful. So in Angela fashion I said F@$# that noise!! And I cut my hair super short. Like clipper short. And I do have super beautiful light blonde beautiful hair......The kind that people pay hundred and hundreds of dollars for. And I have been asked in multiple occasions to sell my hair. The point being that I had to prove to myself that my hair had no power over me. Hair is hair. It does not define us as women. It should EMPOWER us to feel our best. But when it becomes a weight to what we once were then it’s time to move on. I am super proud of you that you have been true to yourself and not been stuck and stayed in the “rut” because it can be uncomfortable to challenge YOUR OWN status quo. You seem not to give two shits about anyone else’s standards Thank Goodness. This is my first video I have watched but will be watching more. I am super impressed with your energy and heart.
Isn't it funny how you change from young to old and accept who you are today? I know the abusive childhood. It made me a better mom. And now grandma (Nene). I am alone, survived a horrific accident, and fought me way back but more than once I felt like I was dangling from a cliff edge. GOT MY FEET BACK UNDER ME AND SOON ENOUGH I WILL BE FREE! Decisions on the hair thing will come. I listen for God, we got well acquainted for the last 8 years. Hope to see you on the road....
Wow. Such an interesting watch. You are so beautiful, you can get away with any hair. I am just starting my dreads at 53 years young, and I love them, so when I am 63 I might do this! Your support and daughter are so lovely, thanks for posting.
Juby, your spirit is so lovely that your hair style is secondary. I wonder how much it weighed and do you have less neck stress or headaches? Azalea’s reaction was sweet. Congratulations on your reformation 💗
I dont know if you noticed but the razor you used is from the brand "Wahl" which is German and means choice !! Call it coincidence but it just blew my mind! As a dreadhead I was kind of terrified to watch this but after you cut them, you were just glowing with excitement! So happy to see this! And I think it's always easier to cut them if you're already in the stage of being annoyed all the time :D That's that. Now I'm gonna binge-watch your channel. bye :D
Your video is so inspiring. I just turned 30 today and in November I’ll have had my locs for 6 years!! But I think I’m ready for a change as well! I’m freaking out!!! But your confidence and transformation with and without dreads, and during the process, has honestly helped me more than I know how to explain. I appreciate you so much, and hope you had/have a happy 30th birthday! 💜
To be honest I never understood dreadlocks. I have thick, naturally curly hair and every time I grow it out I can't wait to cut it off because it's so hot and bulky and annoying. You are beautiful with or without them!
i was struggling with stereotypes too and some kind of ego took part of me to show them that i can keep my hair... then...on your ''dreadlock video'' when you said that ''one day i will have to take it off'' it instantly brought a weird clear answer to me... and suddenly i was witnessing many friends and artist in my country taking off their dreadlocks/hair ... i just shaved my head 1 week ago... to renew/shift myself into another kind of journey... YOU 3 BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ARE FULLY BLESSED, LOVE YOU, FROM MAURITIUS ISLAND
Idk how I ended up here, but you guys are not only the most beautiful family I have ever seen, but you guys are legit living my dream! Love the bus, traveling, & the freedom 💞💞
About 9 years ago I buzzed my hair off to stop dying it and reveal my silver highlighted locks! It was liberating but my then 8-year old burst into tears when she laid eyes on my new look. I think she was in shock! I was liberating for me! I have since regrown my hair and it is now longer and healthier than it was when I buzzed it off.
You look great.. shame you missed the skinhead stage and you jumped to the pixie stage.... I’m trying to persuade my daughter to take the jump,, it’s empowering for sure.....good for you girl 😎
Love your journey into the short hair. It's not really about your hair you know because you're still Juby. It's about the the new found freedom, the lightness of being who you are now. Dance and celebrate with the old man and the gorgeous adorable Azalea! Keep on dancing guys! 💛🌟✌💇♀️💞
Amazing! I had long locs too! I lost my locs due to chemotherapy 🙁 Howeger, I do miss them sometimes but a new chapter has begun🤪 Btw... get ur yearly check up & always check your breast in the shower! I had stage 3 breast cancer & it was a long hard fight & I'm blessed to have won! I seen women who had breast cancer @27yrs & ovarian cancer as low as 9yrs. Knowledge is Power
Mz TR I agree, start getting your mammograms as early as possible. My cancer was very very early and found during a mammogram. I asked the Dr if I would have detected this in a self exam and she said no, not yet. So, the mammogram saved my life.
Early detection is so important! I am 40 and was diagnosed with stage 3b colorectal cancer right before I turned 40. I have the negative brca gene for breast and ovarian cancer which is what led to my colorectal cancer. I've got a long road ahead of me now with a 9 month old baby. This mama is tired!
“I’m nice to your beard!” Justin: 😒 Omg I’ve missed you guys lol such a beautiful video and thank you for sharing this experience. 🥰 love from south east Texas
I have to mourn your dreads! 😩 But welcome to the short hair club. You’re gorgeous either way! P.s. Azalea trying to get her camera time is adorable! 🤣
Wow now let’s do Justin’s dreads!!!! You are simply beautiful Juby. I am a short hair person. Been wearing it short and spiked for 12 or more years and I am 72
@@jadestone8552 Thanks! I can't wait! FedEx is delivering it and he won't even have to get out of the truck, I'll be there to get it from him! I'm on a mission tomorrow and I will complete it!! 😉🤣😂🤣😂 Girl, my hair looks like an overgrown chia pet gone wild!! 😂😂
Justin & Juby. New to your channel. I am 40 years older than you Juby. So if you do the math, I was 30 in 1980 and an Original Mother Earther during the 70s & 80s. My braided hair was almost waist length. We farmed off the land and I had to be super careful not to get my braid caught in the tractor PTO. Plus, like you, it was getting to be a hassle. So I cut it off and at first it was traumatic! LIke I lost a part of my identity. Your new hair cut really suits you well Juby ! You are inspiring me to take another plunge regarding my hair. I am letting the color grow out during our sheltering in place on our family farm. Never really knew what color my hair was. It is a brilliant silver!! So I'm waiting for the right opportunity to cut it short, but I do not trust the electric hair clippers in the hands of my husband :-O. Also, I teach organic gardening and living off grid, when time allows. So my hat is off to you Justin for studying Permaculture and running a honey bee business. Simple...no bees- no people. We cannot have bee hives on our acreage due to Black Bears, but I grow Borage, etc. to attract bumble bees, mason bees and wild bees. Keep making your natural lines of products Juby. Oh, BTW, we still live THE GOOD LIFE and are healthy and thriving on the land. All the best! ~Diane
So nice to see a video upload after your story. I hope all is going well. And I love the new do! 9 years is a long dread journey. Congrats on that and cheers to new beginnings!
You were so brave.x But regardless dreads no dreads your beauty shines through. You were one of my first inspirations on my own one year dread journey. Thank you for your documentation. Love light and rainbows
20 to 35 I had peroxide hair... grew my roots out for 6mths & chopped my hair this short to return to the natural me... a liberating feeling... 49 now & peroxide paints it's way to the ends of my hair... but never a full head again... you look radiant...
Wonderful! You are such a sweet and loving person to share this chapter in your life with us! Watching the last of your dreads come off and how you reacted to running your fingers through your hair and massaging your scalp, the look on your face said it all in why you made the decision to cut your dreads! And it was beautiful to see! Thank You! ( BTW, no one who wears dreads are dirty or grungy! I do not understand that line of thinking considering the amount of work it takes to grow them!) Safe travels, God bless and Enjoy your new look!
Hearing you talk about dreads being a journey and the story of your journey really hit home. I started mine with only the sides and back shaved and fell in love. A while later I decided to grow the back as well to form a Mohawk. However the discrepancy in length bothered me so much. I didn't want to start over so I put in home made extensions. I never really wanted extensions. I wanted to just enjoy my hair's journey. Making them kind of helped me feel more comfortable with them as I spent the time forming each one just as I did my dreads. But it still feels like I'm missing out in a sense. I think I may cut the extensions out soon and fully embrace just enjoying my hair's own journey. Beautiful video, one of the most meaningful dread removal videos I've seen
My daughter had dreads for about 5 years and as she got closer to 30 she cut them off. It was time, a different chapter of her life. She looked beautiful either way. You look absolutely stunning with the short hair! You are such a beautiful spirit!🌸
I don't know how I ended up on this channel, but this is the most stupidly gorgeous family.
Totally seconding that statement ! Don"t know how i ended here but glad i met you beautiful people thanks to YT magic :D

Shaved my chemically treated hair to start my locs this year. Im 39.
Love the new look but just FYI I never thought of you looking grungy or dirty with the locks. You are just gorgeous regardless!
Agreeeedddd! 🌙 🌸 🧒🏻
yeah I was kind of offended as dread locks are seen as sacred according to some religions. They really aren't for everybody.
India Abdul - someone’s always offended...
I agree
No argument here, you ARE very lovely. However, I do think dreads in general look dirty. We all have our own personal opinions and this is mine.

Love this comment :D
@Epic Quintessence It's a metaphysical energy, not measurable by any technology we have at the moment.
Wow! Your baby has the most incredible eyes. You look amazing with your new hair.
The photos at the end with your hair off are amaze!!! Blown away. Congrats
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Justin's answer "IN A GREAT WAY❣"
when she said "Everybody's story is different ,so just be patient. " i felt that.
The baby's reaction was priceless. Haha.

Universe Keep it long. I’m 60 and growing my hair out after two decades of short hair. Loving the journey.
Oh I just love Azalea. She's so cute and already so full of personality.
As for your hair I love love love it short. It's so fitting for you!
What a beautiful homage to the last 9 years . And you are beautiful inside and out no matter what hairstyle you are rocking! Thank you for sharing this experience.
She’s beautiful and has the face to total rock short hair!!!!
you always looked like a fairy and now the pixie cut fits so perfectly. i love it!
Groovy 2020! I haven't heard that saying, "groovy", since the sixties. Both of you remind me of my youth in the sixties, we had the grooviest fashion, music, love and peace wishes for everyone, including the squares. lol Peace and Love to you both and baby.
I want to have a family like this one day, traveling, filming and living the best life possible
20:40 "I'm excited to see what this decade holds"
Oh girl 😂 if only January 2020-you knew the shitshow that this year would unfold into.
Stay safe, stay kind, stay healthy and clean 👋
lmaooo your too funny
Girl, the moment my hair was long enough for my husband to roll onto it at night and for me to not be able to move i cut it! I feel all your pains with long hair. Can’t imagine the weight of it all. You still look so beautiful 🤍
Oh my gosh I am turning thirty this year too and literally just buzzed my head and it is the weirdest most freeing thing I have ever done!! Love your new look and that you have one left 🥰
Do you have videos with your new hairdo?? I only see longer hair in your videos. I'm thinking of cutting my hair super short and would love to see yours.
💖💖💖
Kerstie Sweeney oh thanks I actually just did it so putting the video up soon :)
I love hippies.😌 As a lifelong Kansan, the only place I've lived with this same beautiful energy is in Lawrence, (Kansas) where communes are commonplace! You look stunning!! May your Family Be Well. ~namaste💞
That short elfin look really suits you. ❤
You look amazing with a full head of dreadlocks, half a head of dreadlocks, and with short hair! I honestly loved seeing this.
Here from Brand Mondo! I’ve seen y’all before but now I’m a sub. ❤️
Welcome to the Fam!
I wanted to tell you how proud I am for your growing. I truly believe we help ourselves free when we're ready to lead. You give hope to float. Thank you showing us what feels real to heal.
I cut off my dyed hair and went gray. I was so scared, but I felt like a new person when I was done. It's good to make a change!
I did the same thing, went super short then let my gray hair grow out. I have gotten more
compliments on my gray hair then I ever did as a brunette.
@@donnav7103 I was at a festival this weekend, I got so many compliments on my hair! I'm keeping mine short and sassy. I love it!
@@SoulfulVeg Yes! We are going silver in
our golden years. And graciously accepting the compliments along the way. Love it.

The level of support Justin showed you is amazing! Great video guys!
And I think it's always easier to cut them if you're already in the stage of being annoyed all the time :D
That's that.
Big support and love on your dread journey!
Thank you!!
it took 10 years off you. i don't mean that in a harsh way, you look younger than your age. you're so beautiful with or without. welcome back!
This was a BIG deal! Congratulations on a very new beginning! You are Beautiful!❤
Glad to have ya and thank you for the kind words!
I could imagine you reminiscing about each inch as you looked at each loc after you cut it off.
You look wonderful!
Wow, gorgeous transformation, makes your lovely eyes pop...
You look great.. shame you missed the skinhead stage and you jumped to the pixie stage.... I’m trying to persuade my daughter to take the jump,, it’s empowering for sure.....good for you girl 😎
Make a Dream Catcher with the hair...that would be cool.
What is there not to Love about this video ???? People just disliking it for absolutely NO reason !!
Juby, you are absolutely divinely beautiful in all forms. Gorgeous woman!
agreed! so brave! ✌️♥️🙏
Agree xxx
I agree too. She’s still radiant.
Condrags for winning your fight! Thanks for the info. :D
What a stunning little family. The couple are so perfectly matched. If she ever gets bored with him though....😂
“I’m nice to your beard!”
Justin: 😒
Omg I’ve missed you guys lol such a beautiful video and thank you for sharing this experience. 🥰 love from south east Texas
You my dear…… beautiful!! 💓💓 Finding truth of ourselves is a great feeling …
I have to mourn your dreads! 😩 But welcome to the short hair club. You’re gorgeous either way! P.s. Azalea trying to get her camera time is adorable! 🤣
Proud of you for going Nine long years! And glad your loving the new look! ❤
you look SOOO beautiful! Like a fairy!!
Sweet, gentle, peaceful, loving family.
Loved the sharing out the photos. That was really sweet😊
You are SUCH a beautiful soul and your new haircut is stunning on you. Your bone structure was MADE for a pixie cut!!❤❤
Wow now let’s do Justin’s dreads!!!! You are simply beautiful Juby. I am a short hair person. Been wearing it short and spiked for 12 or more years and I am 72
Jade Stone, you are my spirit animal! ❤ I'm buzzing mine tomorrow since no stylists are open. Screw what people think, it's our lives, right? 👍🙂
Barb Keen good for you!!!
Barb Keen oh I have been there!!!!! Woohoo lady on a mission get outta her way!!!!
I love watching all your old pictures. Well done❣️
Actually, your short hair looks very beautiful on you ♡
Justin & Juby.
~Diane
the one dread reminds me of Anikan Skywalker
So nice to see a video upload after your story. I hope all is going well. And I love the new do! 9 years is a long dread journey. Congrats on that and cheers to new beginnings!
Excuse you napilly ever after was an adorable movie haha
You were so brave.x
But regardless dreads no dreads your beauty shines through.
You were one of my first inspirations on my own one year dread journey.
Thank you for your documentation.
Love light and rainbows
Beautiful journey 💕
20 to 35 I had peroxide hair... grew my roots out for 6mths & chopped my hair this short to return to the natural me... a liberating feeling... 49 now & peroxide paints it's way to the ends of my hair... but never a full head again... you look radiant...
No seriously it should be a crime to be this gorgeous!!!! Mommy, daddy and baby😍
I love dredds always feel sad when people get rid, but appreciate the rebirth felt emotional watching this, you look great.😊
J Jay are they comfortable?
You're soooo beautiful, and your little precious girl is gorgeous. Handsome dad looks like Jason Momoa❤️
My daughter had dreads for about 5 years and as she got closer to 30 she cut them off. It was time, a different chapter of her life. She looked beautiful either way. You look absolutely stunning with the short hair! You are such a beautiful spirit!🌸
Your husband must be Momoa's cousin x'D Love your new look, I'm trying for three years to gain courage to do the same, guess its not my time yet :D
