I am just now stumbling upon this project. I can already tell 2 episodes in you are very "attention to detail oriented" the final product is going to be perfect! 👍Great stuff man, can't wait to watch them all. I have always wanted to try something like this...hmmm maybe one day 🤔
For DIY folks that watch DIY videos, want zero lecture and more lab time. You need to do 99% less talking and more work. DIYers arent interested in your command of the English language , we want to see step-by-step processes and even increase the play speed if necessary. Don't get butt hurt by my comments however accept it as feedback and how to improve your videos going forward. You have a lot of potential.
Completely agree with Pete. I can't believe the amount of talking in his videos.. like fuuuuck man!! It wouldn't be a problem if he knew how to make his points quickly, but the kid is extremely fucking wordy.
Hay guys loosen up the reigns he is on here sharing his experience so don't complain to much if the boy wants to talk let him talk and Iam looking at doing something very similar on a twin turbod 64 Ford galaxie thanks for the great clean car content it's hard to come by
A little tip for later go to Home Depot and get a hand planer it's for planning wood it's like a cheese grader with a handle it'll help shave the foam down quickly and minimize dust
Note a cheese grader would remove the bulk of the work....then spay adheive and cover with aluminum foil....then apply fiberglass...3 layers....then peel off....make a mule out of wood as a mirror of that side and then cover mule with aluminm foil...fiberglass and wallla! your dream came true...
that's awesome but how are you gonna shape both sides evenly.. that seems difficult.. i suggest you mesure the width of the sculpted foam from the inside of the fender that should be easier. can't wait to see the next video ;) good luck
Wow I have to say great strategy to make a wide body kit with instafoam. One thing I would suggest as far as sanding to help the process go faster is using a D A dual action orbital sander, typically in about an 8-in disk should do it.
You need a surform rasp to take foam down and shape it with ease. I use these when shaping surfboards. Also make a template for the front and back so you can check how even it is, side to side. \Pretty cool video though and deff some heavy DIY
Perhaps this will be answered later in the videos. But here is where I am worried, at this point: the foam is bonded to the masking tape. The masking tape is bonded to the car. So all of this foam is attached by no stronger of a bond than that of painters tape. Won't that fall off?
Holy Foam, batman... You talked for like 3+ minutes about taking the freaking cardboard off. Pacing, man... you don't have to talk for 5 minutes about every single little step...
Funny thing is professionals like myself use foam to shape and then actually shoot the mold over the foam. Then actually usefiberglass to lay inside the mold he made. Now he has custom widebody kit and he sees what’s actually involved in doing this and that’s why we get good money for custom bodywork and paint
Hi You can tell by my small round identification picture that I have done this sort of thing before to my Mercedes clk convertible if I new you were attempting this I would of given you a few tips...... I haven't gone any further up to now with your vid's ...so first thing you need room for your wheels to travel up and down to achieve this you need to cut your arches in about 3in side by side lent then bent them up and out.......this also gives you something for you arches to grip to you might need some welding if you have cut your arches too high and split the inner metal just bang them together and weld them up. If you don't no what I'm talking about then you should not be attempting anything like this...... put your wheels on all 4 sides and go out for a ride get your friends to sit in the car fully loaded go over dips and bumps as aggressively as you can ....if you find the wheels caching make moor cutting and bend up this will save you a lot of headache later trust me once you have got your car driving safely then and only then continue with the cosmetic side of your project.......boxing in with cardboard putting the cardboard at the outer part this will make a box section for the foam to gather up leaving you with a nice big block of foam..... cut it with a hacksaw blade to the shape you want. put three layers of fiberglass bandages all over your arches criss cross and slightly on your car body . then apply your filler go for the shape you want continue with the filler to bumpers ......get sills and rivet them in place then fiberglass strips were they join and then filler.....I left no gaps from the arch to the bumper but you can do them with a thin blade on a grinder..... Then take the foam out from under arches and tidy up with fiberglass this will strengthen you arches and prevent cracking with time........ mine have not cracked and its bin three years now I'm going to look at the rest of your vids I hope you were as lucky as I was.. .........
So many fucking negative comments. If you don`t like it, why are you here? Let`s see some of your own creations? No? Don´t have the skills? A suggestion for you @Kyle Reese: If you´re gonna do something similiar again, it is a big help if you glue some kind of plastic or wooden sticks as depth markers on the fender. If you align them at an even space along the wheel arch it´s much easier to create an even and smooth bodyline. As you sand down the foam the markers will start to appear.. Im not good at explaining in english, but i hope you understand what i mean. Good job!
What you should have done is when the foam was wet use a filler spreading card a nd shaped it up a bit.. It would have been loads less sanding. Also you could have used a Duel action sander and shaped it up.. Then lastly shape them up with a sanding block.. Then filler..
Thank you, Awesome job. I like how you came up with this idea. I have been thinking about it as well for my 1987 BMW E30, and I didn't like whats available on the market. I loved the Fender Flare of 2009 Mercedes SL65 AMG. Google it and you will see why I like it so much. of course not all of the SL65 AMG are like that, but many of them have the extended fender flares and I want to copy cat that onto my 1987 E30. Thank you.
You could have used a thin gauge sheet metal and stretched fabric from fender to sheet metal and fiber glassed it. A lot less work than foaming the piss out of your car. And it could be removable. Good luck with foam.
Thoughts, could cut sanding time in half if you formed an outside covering (like you did w/cardboard underneath) to hold the shape. Then sanding/cutting would be minimized using ur technique IMO.
Useful tip... This video would have been so much better had you just done a voiceover of you working. The working for 10 seconds and talking for 5 minutes thing you're doing is killing it.
Starting to look like a BMW Beetle? Fiberglass is a much better route. If you are doing body filler only, then I guess you're leaving the foam? That is a super bad idea. The foam will retain water and not only encourage rust (ask me how I know), it will also add weight to the car when it is wet.
I don't mind the talking. I find it more instructive. like say he adds foam after the first foam was dry and doesn't say why? welp now you make you're wide body kit and its not wide enough
Is big gap filler that hard? I used it before and it didn't seem sandable.. I'd like to do my fenders but it seems like it would be too spongy. Are you sure it was easy to sand or even cut?
That’s an actually nice video mate, for others... if you guys don’t wanna hear him then use what’s called a “Skipping/fast forward” feature to your liking. Seriously smh... 🤦♂️
People really complaining about him talking lmao im trynna learn jus skip or be patient
your channel definatelly needs more appreciation.
On one hand I admire your tenacity, on the other hand, so many things are wrong here. Good luck man.
This is such a great idea!!! Really personalised and just fun
Hot knife cuts nicely I did this back in high school on my old lifter ford ranger I grinded out the wheel wells and foamed up Nice new ones
I cant believe that worked, good job
Old school body kit manufacturing :D AWESOME! :D

It's dumb because it's going to hold moisture like a sponge. Should have learned to fiberglass 😆🙄🙄
@@paulmajors3112 it’s not dumb, he’s just inexperienced, like you with positive reinforcements lol edit: smf, he did fiberglass. Go look 🤣
@@paulmajors3112it won’t hold water if he fiberglasses the foam
Appreciate the vid bro and I like the fact you talked us through the process
How is this guy perfectly clean
Why is this so satisfying to watch?
Between the relentless talk and musak I had to go to the last part, part four to end the torture. That's 100% DIY

I appreciate the feedback. I agree with you and I've been working on getting better at that. Thank you for the constructive criticism!
I agree with Michael :)

Completely agree with Pete. I can't believe the amount of talking in his videos.. like fuuuuck man!! It wouldn't be a problem if he knew how to make his points quickly, but the kid is extremely fucking wordy.

You put great wheels on the car
The bubble look good actually

Everyone commenting that he’s talking to much he’s trying to explain what’s going on and that’s good content
In Germany we call this: Hallo, ich bins wieder euer Rainer !
Look forward to seeing the finished look dude!

Hey Guy’s i know it’s not the best youtuber ever but let him does his video if you don’t like him just stop watching him it’s simple no?
Tape up the cardboard so it comes off easier! Cool video!
Talk to much bro! like The content but to much "uhm" not enough work being filmed , keep up good work!

good luck keep up the good work greetings from morocco

i would say leave the air pockets in there so that the body filler has somethin to bond to better
dope!
Questions i make these and 🏁 and get my mustang past 100 u think these will fly off from the drag???👀👀👀
Should’ve put trash bags over the wheels and used the expanding foam as a mold for fiber glass.
I love the t-shirts you wore, man
Also I'm doing this job if you answer a few questions I'll ask the turkey would be the mammalian
Awesome! Thanks friend!
Wow,cant believe you destroyed thus perfectly good car.
Dude it's cool that your do this set up, but you can show more than explain, most poeple who watch these vids are car guys ,so we understand

Has this process been around or is this something you have invented?
He put foam over the gas cap😂
Phazoid 79 lmao
🤣😅😂
Its probably runs on hopes and dreams and talking.
stop talking more doing
LackHoes Intolerance That's the power of the Home Depot.
abyde you are an amazing human being
Ong my phone finna die
Lol I thought the same thing
I have not minded the talking. Has anyone watch b is for build? This is entertaining as fuck and ille be watching the rest lol
What did you have for dinner, or did I miss that bit?
If Eric and Kelso had a baby...
I don't mind the talking. I find it more instructive. like say he adds foam after the first foam was dry and doesn't say why? welp now you make you're wide body kit and its not wide enough
50 grit: basically a shingle
great job

MAN...... YOU TALK TOO DAMN MUCH. LESS TALKY MORE WORKY 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯... other than that, this whole build is awesome!! very informative and helpful.
Where’d you get that shirt? It’s dope
Should've used sheets of Fiberglas with resin, let that dry and use rage or evercoat gold over it
so is the foam just to make templets? cause that foam is gonna crack and seperate from the body once you start driving.
If u stop talking you'll get more work done...so dam irritating
😅🤣
Sick 👍
respect for actually doing all this, but man you talk a lot more than work on it.
are those 17s or 18s? they look kinda small for an e46 m3
Just have to ask I must of missed the part, but wut else did you do to make sure that all the foam and Mud will stay on after it's all done?
starts at 8:20
Bruh idk why people getting so pressed about him explaining what he’s doing lmao you’d be lost if he wasn’t explaining it
That’s an actually nice video mate, for others... if you guys don’t wanna hear him then use what’s called a “Skipping/fast forward” feature to your liking. Seriously smh... 🤦♂️
To avoid holes from foam find and buy foam in liquid form ;)
Sandpaper hits the car at 5:20...and stops at 5:30...to be continued. Maybe...
Amazing video bro 👌👌
But I want to know name of that foam like spray that you sprayed at fenders.
Please can you tell me
