wow this video is the best video. I played it at my twice-removed great grand uncles funeral and he came back from the dead to watch this video. This video LITERALLY brings people back to life!!!!
Loved the review. This is the kind of review I look for (more track and driving dynamics impressions). You got yourself a new subscriber! Also, I own a 6MT 2023 CG EN and it's the most fun car I've ever owned (coming from a 11 STI, 13 BRZ and 16 WRX) so I can confirm everything you've said in the video!
Theres a way to keep the Octane learning just dont fill up with more than 3.0-3.2 gallons of gas when you fill ip equivalent to 100-105 miles of range. Youll keep the 18-20 psi every time, i have octane learning 24/7 lol the car is definitely worth it
Awesome review and yes, FWDs get a such a hate on from previous crappy cars of the 80s and 90s yet Honda and now Hyundai have managed to create some of the best of the best. The Elantra N has really dropped the gauntlet for everyone else in the practical yet fun FWD packages.
@@FL50ssp where do you get this data from? The Cobalt SS was a hilariously fun car as well but not sure if I heard data indicate it was faster than the Elantra N.
Steering is supposed to be better on the EN than the VN. There are improvements made to the front control arm bushings and in the chassis to improve steering. I dont think steering can be compared unless the two are on the same wheel and tire setup. If the VN was on a more stretched tire setup, that could definitely make the difference.
Such a shame about the octane learning procedure. Not a huge deal for most people, but the lack of consistency would be a deal breaker for me if I’m chasing lap times. I’ve heard it randomly resets on people without even refueling too. I was honestly about to pick up the phone and try ordering a 24 until I looked into this more… hopefully Hyundai updates the car to get rid of it or make it much easier to learn, but not holding my breath. Unfortunately there’s nothing else nearly this affordable and track ready out of the box. This is a super informative video though. I love this format and you clearly have a great understanding of vehicle dynamics and what makes a car good on track, which is something you can’t get from the shills/entertainers who drive press cars at 7/10 for two laps and then parrot the same vague subjective crap. Looking forward to more content from you.
Good video, watched your m2 video last week, crazy fast at TMP. Did you tried the EN at TMP as well? I think it's mid 1:18s possible with top 200tw tires especially for DCT
Yes I did! Unfortunately, there was no lap timer in the car.. but it was definitely faster than the manual Veloster N that we drove back to back with this car. Veloster N was on coilovers and rs4 tires, brake pads and fluid. The driver, @driven.by.jay on instagram has posted the video of the Veloster N doing a 1:20 within 3 laps. Sub 1:20 was possible but he hit traffic. Our best guess, with 200tw, pads, fluids, otherwise stock, it can do 18’s. With coilovers and camber plates, even faster…😅
Time attack driver here reporting in. The footage of the EN here was me driving. It did low 1:19s in practice with an unoptimized setup. 18 definitely within reach. Put 255 on the front and send it, and have good pads on both axles. The car has an easy 1:18
@@macrossranma back then it was just stock everything, with pagid rsl2 front pads, front camber bolts and re71rs front, rs4 rear. The lack of front roll stiffness really needed a lot of playing with tires to get the car to rotate quick enough in order to get back on power asap. weird, but works. Very slidely. Lots of oppo lock needed when tires are cold :D
I don’t think you need to octane learn it every time you fill up. That would only be if you’re switching between 87 and 91 every time you fill up. If you fill 91 every time, I don’t see why you would need to keep octane learning the car every time
It will NEVER octane learn to make 20 psi and hold it! I've seen 20 psi flash for a second once, that's it. It's easiest to just go on a highway cruize @70 mph for 10+ miles, at that point your around 18 psi but even then, the gauge will drop down to 16-17 psi after 18 psi comes up. Last weekend when octane learned, my on-board dyno showed 300 PS (295 hp) and 18 psi. I've got the N Performance intake and Shark Racing turbo inlet pipe as well as Stillen mid-pipe. The best cure for this is the N75 ECU tune, even Stage 1 makes 20 psi immediately, no automotive gymnastics necessary, you just tell Damiel NO octane learning and that's that, 20 psi all the time, as well as all other adjustments to be safe, that's it. Btw they are located in Toronto 😉
Daniel is the GOAT! Started with the Stage 1 (got rid of OL), now on his Stage 2 lite, making 23psi at peak - all done safely and with minimal supporting mods!
@@klasseact6663 turbo inlet and intake, colder spark plugs, turbo blanket. The rest are fluff like BOV, OCC, cosmetic/aero stuff. The stiffer engine mount bushings help a lot too.
