I load .50 Beo, had StrongArm 600 "Beast" bullets, RIP. And love the Hornady 500gr XTP FP the most. Casting and loading up to 600, 490 Spire point so badass, and 300/330 all day long Rainier bulk jacketed I got before they went out of business. So satisfying. Freight trains.
Biggest I've shot was a friend's 50 beowulf Heaviest bullet I've shot is a 530 grain paper patched 45 cal bullet out of my repro 1874 sharps. Brutal recoil with heavy bullets but it's a fun gun

Nice again I've got something very similar an Encore with a barrel made by bullberries fastest twist they had didn't think to lengthen the throat similar idea. The noe are great for big hollow points just kinda hard to get soft lead to fill the mold good. I'm sure you know this if you go all the way down to 800 fps super quiet
ha ha, that lee 500 is a biggie. I signed up for the NOE group buy for a replica of that one. It should be nice using the NOE version of that lee--few more cavities and such. Encore's are quite fun though.

Largest bullet I've loaded and shot, for length is 750 copper solid .50 BMG match bullets at 2.63" long, and for weight is M48A1 Spotter Tracers, I think they come out to about ~830 grains or so. Largest I've cast would be a tie between the longer 500 grain .459" gas check in .45-70, and the 500 grain .515" Lee bullets. And silliness aspect ratio, that's the Hornady RNSP 160gr .264" for sure.
That is awesome!! Subs are so much fun. I'm just getting into it with a 308 bolt gun. 9.7g of tb and a 180g bullets Thunderbeast ultra 9 Very accurate and really fun/cheap to shoot. I can see where a heavier projectile is the ticket. What twist did you put in the barrel 1:8?
lol, once you start playing with subs and a suppressor, things get real fun. Shooting suppressed subs with kids is great, they don't get the violent concussion from the muzzle... and they can get a proper cheek weld on the stock without hearing protection. My kids have been raised on 300blk subs... This particular barrel has a 15 twist if I remember right. I've done a few video series with super heavy bullets, but YT has deleted about 35 of my videos... :(

Thanks FLT. I've used One Shot too. It works...okay, but then powder sticks. So, if a case needs to be dumped and a new charge thrown, it's time for the q-tips. You always make everything look so easy!
yeah, I don't love one shot, but it seems to work fine for that. Seems to affect powder less than if you use the waxy lubes inside the case mouths. I usually use it on my 45 colt brass with my lee dies...

@@FullLeadTaco did I mention that I get old car batteries and use them for the lead, the acid is put into a bucket with scrap copper pipe. In a few weeks it produces my copper sulfide to plate with. Then I use an old battery charger that does 6v 2a. To power my plating.
I shot my bosses 700 H&H nitro express once. (Once). The bullet went through the backstop of the range and through the outside wall and into a dumpster. There was a bid dirt wall but it didn't make it through the dumpster. He held the record for the third largest cape buffalo at the time and he was going back for another hunt. He was afraid to shoot it so me being a big guy I shot it. It hurt so bad. I had a bruise on my shoulder so bad that I had to go to the hospital to make sure I didn't get a blood clot. It was a here hold my beer moment.
Yeah, for the energy they're putting out, those rifles are WAAAY too light. I'd personally be hesitant to even try one given your story. That's insane!
Just out of curiosity have you played with this much lately( i know this vid is 4 years old now)? Trail boss is impossible to find while i have a few cans left its dwindling fast. Have you found a decent substitute?

Probably, but depends on the type of action. A single shot would be able to as long as the throat is deep enough. A levergun wouldn't work because of the length of the bullets.

what barrel twist did you go with for yours?
SSK is building me the barrel...they are throating it for longer bullets and to stabilize the heavier subsonic rounds. I believe it’s 1-14 twist.

Ive had a 50 Alaskin for nearly 30 years , It was throated for a 950 grain projectile.. Built on a Ruger 3 with 1-9 twist.... Never looked back....

Non, I use the factory taper crimp die. Tried the roll crimp groove but couldnt get consistent results.

My the largest subsonic bullet was 84 mm HE 551 from Carl Gustav M3 :-D 37000 gr bullet. But this thing is super loud.

Good question. On the ones that tend to stick, sometimes I will use a little Hornady One Shot. It's like the only thing I use that One Shot spray for.

Yeah I bought my encore frames separate and then just started buying cool barrels.
Oh and the seating die/crimping die is the regular Hornady one.
