      I was genuinely excited to get this as I really like the 715, I'll give it some use and see what it's all about, cheers mate, hope all OK with you down under 👍

    Hi Pete, loved the video mate it shows the difference between the normal and the split tip seeing as the guns are the same so I assume that if you have the 715 you can if they are available but the split tip setup and fit it to the 715🤔 you could clearly see the difference between the 715 and 717 fan pattern as the 717 wasn't quite as wet but the atomisation was better👌
    I really enjoyed using the 715 and the 625 when you lent them to me Pete, they both sprayed very well with both of them laying the base and clear flawlessly, I'm hoping to get one of these guns at some point which will probably be the 717 first👍
    Thanks Pete👍

      Hi John, Yes, you have summed it up exactly mate, as far as I know the gun is the same, they do tip sets for all the guns, comes in a flat pack like the Fuji set does.
      I've since found the 717 needs far less than 2 bar, I've been using it at 1.4 bar and the results are excellent, I'm really enjoying it, they make a split tip 625, think it's a 627 and I expect it will spray the same as the 717, cheers John 👍

      It's good you can get the tip sets for them mate, I didn't know the Fuji ones came in a flat pack as I don't seem to have one🤔😆the 717 does sound like it will be a great gun especially as they run at a lower air pressure, looking forward to seeing it in action👌👍

    Hello Pete. Such a good video. Does this compare and it is similar with lph 400?

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi Mate, Yes, like a Wider4L or LPH400,, quite different to the 715 which is a very fast gun. I'm still in the process of trying the 717 but you can get away with very low pressures 😁

  • @dropbear9526
    @dropbear9526 4 месяца назад +1

    It'd be good if you could hold the trigger in and see how long it takes for the compressor to kick in, like you did with the LVLP guns.

      Hi mate, I did think about doing that, I knew the 717 was supposed to be 15.5cfm, and I could see the size of the air holes in the air horns.
      What I didn't know, but do now, is that this gun doesn't need anything like the pressure I tried this at, it's excellent for clear coat at 19 to 20 psi which means it's using less than the 715, it is, as I had expected, slower than the 715 even though the 717 is 1.4 and the 715 is 1.3 as all the split tip guns are relatively slow.
      Cheers, buddy, I appreciate it 👍

      @peteshobbies5383  4 месяца назад

      Hi Bradley, The 717 is slower, but atomisation is finer, I've only just started using it, but it works really well at low pressures, you can order cap and tip sets so you can change to whatever you want, 717 ir 715, as far as I can see, the gun bodies are the same, cheers mate, let us know what you think when you get them👍

      @peteshobbies5383  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Mate, normally you will buy a ready-made panel wipe, you can and I do use one that is 80% alcohol and 20% water, but alcohol isn't any good on basecoat as it can remove it when it's fresh, panel wipe doesn't

      @peteshobbies5383 sure will. I needed a faster clear coat gun. I love my 3 Dv1 guns but the DV1-C is great its just a bit slow that on some vehicles its dry before i get around the car.

      @user-un5my5bw4j The 715 or 625 will suit you if you like them fast, it's a hose and very good.
      I'm not sure about reliability yet, I've had no problems at all and the fit and finish of the gun is holding up really well so I'm getting less and less concerned about how reliable they will be, only time will tell but I'm pretty confident 😁
      Cheers buddy 👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  4 месяца назад +1

      @christophervian1784 If you are putting it on too heavy, it will stay wet for too long and react. If the temperature is cold, it will do the same thing.
      To try and stop it, warm the work up, warm the mixed primer up, dust it on, warm the area and dust it on again, and repeat until you get enough on to sand, it will take a wile but you should get there.
      If there's plenty on there and it wrinkles, you make be able to sand it flat anyway without going through the primer.
      If you really can't get anywhere, you can try a sealer like Upol Barcoat, or, the preferred method. Take it back to the metal or plastic and start again.
      It's sometimes why you may see me put quite a few light coats of primer or base coat onto something, it's because your unsure of the substrate, hope that help 😉
      PS, let us know how you get on, cheers 🍻

      You're welcome buddy, good to hear it worked. It's a bit like that going over repairs as there's often a chance it will react, so it's best to take it easy and build the coats up, takes time but saves time in the long run, thanks for letting us know, cheers mate 👍

    Hey do you know what size pps adapter these use? I use pps 2.0 cups in 13.5oz and 22oz here helps me save in lacquer thinner of not having to clean out mixing cups and gravity cups. Especially with lacquer thinner being $23/gallon now.

    hi pete, they are not exactly Chinese in price. the lady asked me 170 usd for the PRD510 mini spray gun model, shipped to Italy, with other customs money, it would have cost more than 200 usd. with a few dollars more I can buy the LPH80.
    the 717 is nice, but 430L/min is too much for a hobbyist compressor
    ciao

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  4 месяца назад

      Hi Ciao, They aren't prices you normally associate with Chinese guns on Aliexpress and the like, but they really aren't like them either, particularly the PRD series of gun which really are made very well and perform really well.
      I have just ordered a PRD515 with a 510 tip & cap set. To be honest, I don't mind paying the money as I'm happy with the gun's, hopefully the 510/515 will be as good as the others I have.
      In the UK, something like an LPH80 is around 260GBP, so around 330 USD so they still seem cheap, in fact that's around AZ4 money in the UK which isn't made anywhere near as well, hopefully anyway as I haven't got the 515 yet 🤣.
      In my mind, I'm thinking, or hoping should I say, that the 510 set up will be something like an Pro Lite S, so more universal than a LPH80 which can be slow for bigger items.
      The air consumption on the 717 is shown as high, but in reality, it's the same or lower than the 715 as you need less pressure to get results, bit like an LPH400 or Wider4L.
      Cheers, buddy, I appreciate it 👍
