    I've had my Tundra TRD pro since July and I agree with all your cons. I live in AZ so I'm blasting the air conditioning a lot, so I don't even notice the sunroof heat issue. However, I agree that storage and the jerky downshifting (especially pulling up to a traffic light) are my two biggest complaints. Absolutely love the suspension, acceleration and the interior is gorgeous. I'm so grateful I was lucky enough to grab one of these!
    Great video.

    Great video. I have the Platinum Edition and have the same weird slow speed downshifting of the transmission when coming to a stop. It almost feels like the truck is applying the brake but not enough of an issue to complain about. I absolutely love this truck and find that the family and I go on joy rides much more now just because it is such a pleasure to drive. Mine also came with the power running boards, bed step, and air suspension (advanced package) so I don't have the bed access issue to deal with. The auto leveling air suspension is awesome, had to haul some dirt today and the truck leveled up nicely. These new Tundra's rock and did you see this? "The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) finally completed its testing of the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra, and the results impressive. The Tundra now stands alone as the only truck to get the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for 2022, which makes it the safest full-size truck currently on the market." Way to go Toyota for giving us a safe vehicle.

    Great video. I have a limited (non-hybrid) and agree with everything except the downshifting. Mine is smoother downshifting than up, which I can barely feel. I’m guessing it might have something to do with the hybrid motor. Love my rear under seat storage. Sorry, salt in the wound. But the added HP and decreased lag on acceleration is much better with the hybrid. Still, no regrets. I absolutely love my 2022 Tundra Limited. Enjoy. Thanks for the video from a fellow NEPA.

      Thanks man, I appreciate it!!…yea I actually just installed swing cases to solve the lack of storage, they’re awesome (video coming up)…and that makes sense, I wonder if that is the hybrid causing that slight “jerk” on downshift…I do feel like it’s gotten slightly better as I rack up miles, but it’s definitely still there…thanks for watching and good luck with your truck!!

    As a Florida man that sunroof is beautiful but will always be closed and covered whenever possible. On my cars with sunroofs I probably opened the shade for light a handful of times and never actually opened the window itself. It’s way too bright during the day and obviously the heat.
    If it were cool and cloudy maybe, but then the critters are gonna come in the car.

    The clunky transmission at low speeds is the TCU. Toyota recommends that you don't drive long distances at constant speeds for the first 1000 miles. I recommend you do a lot of stop and go and city driving if you can so the transmission learns that kind of driving. You can ask the dealership to wipe the TCU and then do more city driving - It'll be perfect and smooth. If you were to have them wipe the TCU and then drive on the highway for hours, it'll do the clunking you're talking about. Ask me how I know.

    Lack of storage and no bed step is just a Totota design failure. Suspension is a bit stiffer than my GMC Sierra 1500, X31, The seats aren't as comfortable as the GMC and the GMC gets between 24 - 30 Hwy Mpg depending on wind. It's a tough call on which one I like more. They're both great trucks.

    Thank you for the great video. One big con you didn’t mention is no 4 auto. For some it is not a big deal, but it when other family member other than me is driving, and it is a big deal. Two more, the unattractive big “TOYOTA” on the dash, and jump in the middle of the floor.

      Thanks for watching Chris!…yea the 4 auto doesn’t matter much to me, but I can see how it would to some…and believe it or not I actually love the heritage “Toyota” on the dash, I like the red accents around the letters, I feel like it ties in well with the Pro…thanks for the feedback!

    Love it. Curious about a couple things:
    1. The console safe - I like it but you are saying it takes up valuable space. Keep it or no?
    2. Tonneau cover. Heard some negative feedback on it. What are the pros and cons? Can I still use the rails?
    3. Any thoughts on the stock all-weather floor mats? Heard some aftermarket ones cover better.
    4. Definitely want to see the interior lighting upgrade asap.
    5. Window air/rain guards and front Rock/bug deflector? I don’t see an OEM option. Have you found a suitable aftermarket option you’re considering.
    Great video. Thanks.

    • @NitroZ18Fishing
      @NitroZ18Fishing  2 года назад +2

      Thanks Jason, I appreciate it!
      I go back-and-forth on the console safe, it’s definitely nice to have but I feel like it takes up a decent amount of room… You would absolutely gain a little space by removing it but I think I’m keeping it in there for the safety feature
      Love the electric tonneau cover, I have no complaints about that at all… Actually have a video on the channel showing the install with a little review… Also posted a follow-up video showing how I had to adjust the location for the tailgate button to work properly, but I definitely recommend it
      The OEM all weather floor liners serve their purpose but not the best quality… They are more flimsy and a thinner material than aftermarket options… I don’t plan on changing them anytime soon but when they start to get beat up I will definitely switch to an aftermarket set
      As for the rain guards for windows, still waiting for an in channel option to hit the market… I’ve been in contact with AVS and WeatherTech, both told me they are not sure when they will be releasing them but are currently working on them
      Stay tuned for the interior LED upgrade, I’ll get that done and posted as soon as possible!
      Hope all of that helps, let me know if you need anything else!

    A bonus con you'll discover later, is when you get stuck the first time and someone can only get to you from the front. There are no tow hooks. No tow hooks and no "Auto 4x4" are the 2 deal breakers for me. Toyota dropped the ball, IMO. Lost a ton of sales over these two things.

      @NitroZ18Fishing  2 года назад +2

      Love the Retrax!…it’s my 4th electric tonneau, great covers!…losing the small amount of bed space isn’t a deal breaker for me, and there really isn’t any other downside so I keep goin back to them…hoping to have my step by next week, getting a little frustrated with Sparks Parts…when I placed the order they said it would ship in 3-6 business days, that was on August 24th…emailed them 9/1 and they said possibly another 9 business days before it would ship….still haven’t heard anything….I’m actually considering canceling the order and going somewhere else, but trying to be patient with all the shortages goin on…I’ll be doing the install and posting a video as soon as I get my hands on it!…thanks for watching!

      I always just say get the one you want and if you’re worried about something tearing up or the cost of repairs cause they are extremely high now on any vehicle due to all the inflation then purchase a Toyota warranty (not an aftermarket) that extends to the length of what you plan on owning it and then you never have to worry about anything.

    When getting in the TRD pro, on start up does the seat and steering wheel move to driving position? Then when you turn off the truck does the seat and steering wheel move up and back to allow for easy entry and exit??
