@@JaysonT1 there is something about his pictures that, to me, with all due respect to Picasso, seem like merely whipping out an example of some new technique he stumbled upon or saw in an ancient cave... it doesn't hook me in, it's like just technical ideas for other artists' to put their souls into - because he didn't put that soul into it. i always felt that. maybe that is unfair to him, but that impression of mine has endured the test of time.

I think procrastination comes from rejecting the task in a way. I've noticed that when I procrastinate, it is usually because the task is rejected by my inner me. The point is that when I engage in a task that I feel is a part of my soul somehow, I am entering the flow state and my suffering and worries go away. My whole life I have been trying to find acceptance from others. I tried to always perform well at school and impress my friends. However, I felt that it is not what I want so I started looking deeper into myself and found out that all I want is to be outside exploring. It was some kind of realization or something. Well, today I go outside everyday and always find something new to explore. I just feel that it is what I want from life because I realized that it is my nature and I sort of tried to silence it with all this human "values". The point I am trying to make is that everyone should stop for a second to think what they truly want. The happiness is usually closer than we think it is :)

I agree - we need to stop from time to time and look into ourselves. Instead of searching for interesting experiences in external sources of emotions, we may as well find them in ourselves. Congrats on understanding your own nature! It needs maturity. Some people live their whole lives without even thinking for a second that they have it or need it.

“You see, Momo,' he [Beppo Roadsweeper] told her one day, 'it's like this. Sometimes, when you've a very long street ahead of you, you think how terribly long it is and feel sure you'll never get it swept.'
He gazed silently into space before continuing. 'And then you start to hurry,' he went on. 'You work faster and faster, and every time you look up there seems to be just as much left to sweep as before, and you try even harder, and you panic, and in the end you're out of breath and have to stop - and still the street stretches away in front of you. That's not the way to do it.'
He pondered a while. Then he said, 'You must never think of the whole street at once, understand? You must only concentrate on the next step, the next breath, the next stroke of the broom, and the next, and the next. Nothing else.'
Again he paused for thought before adding, 'That way you enjoy your work, which is important, because then you make a good job of it. And that's how it ought to be.'
There was another long silence. At last he went on, 'And all at once, before you know it, you find you've swept the whole street clean, bit by bit. What's more, you aren't out of breath.' He nodded to himself. 'That's important, too,' he concluded.”

Top 8 Ways to Avoid Procrastination👇
Get organized. You can't do any work if you don't know what assignments need to be completed.
Set simple, achievable goals. Part of the reason we procrastinate is because the task at hand seems too daunting.
    Create a timeline/schedule.
    Set a deadline.
    Get rid of distractions.
    Time yourself.

Other times, I face an unbearable situation.
    I begin thinking
    ‘It won't work anyway.’
    ‘They will all hate me.’
    ‘I will only be humiliated.’
Then I think about the situations I have been avoiding.
Meeting with people that make me feel uncomfortable.
    Work that stresses me out.
Things I have been procrastinating for a while.
Try to identify the actions that you have been resisting.
It can be the things on your to-do list that you have been delaying for days,
things you haven’t even started because you think there is still some time left,,
or things that you have been putting off to do when in a better condition.
Feel the resistance to these actions with your body, not with your thoughts, and relax your tensions.
Once you habituate relaxation, you will see the following changes:
Before, your string of thoughts and actions would have been
'I need to do this' -> Not actually doing it -> 'I really need to do this' -> Feeling stronger resistance -> 'I need to do this no matter what' -> Feeling self-remorse
But through relaxation, your action patterns will change as the following:
'I should do this' -> Not actually doing it -> Relaxation -> Feeling lower resistance
In such a way, you break away from the pattern of increasing your level of resistance, and create an opportunity to at least begin the work you need to do.

    to summerize :
    • take a big task
    • subdivide that task into multiple microtasks
    • do just one microtask
    • don't think about results, like ever!
just do one microtask and everthing will flow effortlessely
    • you will be miserable and agonised if you're focusing on: "agh, when can I complete this so that I'm free from it?"
•just do the above and remember it's just a task man, be cool
this might be helpful for you :
"This means we should create an overview and structure to lay over the task, making it insightful and workable. Thus, we could harness the power of compartmentalizing a task. and if neccessery: to the extreme.
If the prospect of one task is too much, then we could subdivide that task into microtasks and plan to do just one microtask.
A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. So even if we only finish one percent of the task, we have already managed to achieve more than when we postpone, paradoxically, when we finish just one microtask, we do not only replenish our self-confidence; we most likely get hungry for more as well, because we got caught up in the joy of working. By planning, discipline, and copartmentalizing big tasks into small, digestable pieces, we can protect ourselves from the misery called: procrastination. Step by step, and without worrying about results, or being crushed by the unbearable weight an impossible assignment, we just focus on finishing small parts of the whole, one by one. And when today's work is done, we don't fall back into the trap of unneccessery future projections; we simply plan tomorrows' tasks and rest. As lao tzu wrote: do your work, then take a step back. The only path to serenity

Thank you Einzelganger for this video. I have been suffering through procrastination for quite some time now, but you provided a deeper level of insight that lets me figure out the root causes of my problem and the way to address it. It just that I have been on autopilot, I'm not sure what brings it about but it is rooted in fear and anxiety to the point where I just am stuck. I scrolled on social media and watched countless videos almost mindlessly, letting time go by. That brings on a slew of shame and more doubt and anxiety, I hold myself to these half-thought expectations because I am afraid or was unable to address the real problem. I'm not sure what this is, but anyway, I have a 1500 word Anthropology paper to write now. And I will complete it with my best intentions and effort.
    thanks once again.

I have just procrastinated for 13 minutes by watching the video. HAHA 😂✌🏽As they say, time flows differently for those who want to accomplish.
But there were times that I wanted to stop/postpone/procrastinate because I might thought that there’s no point in accomplishing something- or I had created the illusion that there maybe some other time to do that thing, well in fact there’s none.
In this video, I have learned that time is made to accomplish. The present is the only cash we have and we should spend it wisely- the present is the only thing we could control (the past is an expired check while the future is promissory note). And as stated lately, momento mori. While we’re still alive and have the time to do the most important things for us, there should have been no choice but to accomplish it. Godspeed, everyone! 🙏🏽💓

You forgot to take into consideration external factors i.e. societal expectations, pressures, why people resort to procrastination. It’s so easy for these philosophies to make judgments to identify causes. You have to take in the context where these philosophies are coming from and the historical time from where they emerged.

This video leaves a ton of important questions uanswered. Such as
What is the difference between a task being procrastination and work?
Can you really say that all procrastination is effortless and instantly gratifying (wouldnt say reading an interesting book or playing games like Dark Souls perfectly fit this description)
What is the difference between short and long term gratificaiton, besides the intervals between it?
Can all work be meaningful or does it need to have a personal meaning / be authentic?
Why should meditating on death make me want to live for the future, instead of maximizing pleasure now?
Couldnt the dread of performing a task simply come from it being meaningles to the self, and essentially a waste of time?
You always choose to do one thing rather than another, so isnt everything procrastination in relation to all other potential action?
What does it mean to "get somewhere" in the long term and why is this desirable?
Obviously there are more unanswered questions, and not all questions should necessarily be answered in one video. However, the scope of this video was how to stop procrastinating, and this honestly seems a meaninfles goal, unless you first specify "why stop procrastinating" and "what is procrastination?"

I don't worry about procrastination anymore. Sooner or later I'll get it done, but I will say this until I get these things done it does cause me stress, I know in the back of my mind that these things need to be done, sometimes there's so much that I become overwhelmed and don't know where to start, so today I'm just going to do things one baby step at a time, if I get one thing done that's better than nothing. So as I'm writing this comment now that I think about it deep down inside I do care about procrastination.

Short term gratification is like blood sugar spike from refined carbs. It spikes then falls dramatically.
The pleasure is short. Same as a balanced meal gives energy for longer. A task that gives delayed gratification will fulfill us for longer.

I learned the definition of procrastination when i now have completed my university and i am waiting to get in to a job and i have to keep up with the knowledge that i gained so that i can pass the licence exams but since i am now on my own so i keep procrastinating. In my school life the school teacher plus in the evening the tutor didn’t give a minute to push us away from our tasks and same level in university, we have learned to live our lifes under supervision of teachers, professors, coaches at gym but when we are left alone and don’t have access to the mentors we procrastinate more
