The probelm with sprays and powders is that they have patchy coverage so some parts of the face don't get the proper protection. I think a cushion compact with spf gives the best coverage while still keeping makeup looking good. Korean brands have a lot of good ones like Missha's M Magic Cushion and they have cushion blushes with spf too like Perricone MD No Blush Blush SPF 30
do you think this would also happen with sprays that have aerosol? would spf be too thick for aerosol sprayers? I have aerosol setting sprays and they seem to be able to give me very even coverage if I have a steady hand.
The only issue is if you have to powder your makeup in the morning then patting a cream on top of that creates a cakey mess. 😟 I feel like I have to powder so the cushion isn’t a great option for me!
@@christinab5778 I'm not sure how the cushion would react with a recently powdered face but it seems to work well for my powdered face after few hours when I need to reapply. I just blot my face (since I do get a bit oily during the day) before using my cushion spf. I think the oils from the face would make the powder cakey. (This is coming from someone with combo skin - oily T zone and dry cheeks). These are just on days I really need the extra spf if I'll be spending more time outdoors.
@@karey99 I've read that aerosols and sprays need to be rubbed in or sprayed on for at least 6 seconds on each area to have full effect. I personally don't use them because it gets in my eyes and im very sensitive.
Thank you for actually showing us what re applying sunscreen with a sponge after make up application does to your make up. I am always looking for ways to re apply whenever I am wearing make up. Thanks!
PSA other than using enough product, the Shiseido tinted SPF does not have UVA protection. It can also run orange if you’re on the fair side. BareMinerals also doesnt provide UVA protection. You need a full spectrum SPF underneath
Connie W she did say in the beginning of the video that she has a full spectrum underneath and she applies these in addition to the sunscreen she already has on and she says it again during the video multiple times. Tinted moisturizers are a great way to reapply if you don’t have a face full of makeup on and sprays are great if you do have make up on.
Technically the titanium dioxide blocks UVA, but not as well as zinc oxide. But it would still be unfair to say that the shiseido tinted spf doesn’t block UVA because it still does
I highly recommend applying a silicone-based sunscreen as your first layer in the morning, like one of those Japanese/Korean milk. So, I reapply using the Shiseido HydroBB Compact. High in SPF and PA +++ with subtle coverage. 30° F in the Winter and 90º F in the Summer, here in South Brazil.
Here in the Philippines, there's a line Sunglow by Fresh and they have a compact translucent powder with SPF 50 PA ++++. It's created for reapplication purposes. It's about 400 pesos here which converts to about 8 US dollars. It's available online, not sure if it ships internationally tho.

If were are staying indoors but were exposed to sunlight from the windows, do we need to apply sunscreen if yes do we have to reapply it every 2 hours?
Yes you have to wear sunscreen in doors if you’re gonna be exposed to sunlight from a window. And yes you still have to reapply every two hours. Your window Blocks UVB but not UVA B stans for burn and a stands for aging.
Not every 2 hours unless you're in a greenhouse or something. Labmuffin beauty science has a video with more details on it. The frequency of which you should reapply heavily depends on how much light from a window you are exposed to throughout the day.
Thank god you made this video; I don't wear make up but I've been noticing that even though I wear sunscreen everyday, I am tanning now during summer. Thus, clearly I need to make a change by either increasing the frequency of my sunscreen applications, changing my sunscreen brand, and/or including additional products such as easily reappliable spf powder and antioxidants.
I tried that COOLA setting spray. It is true that the spray isn’t the nicest scent, but I could get over it because it doesn’t linger too long. However, whenever I sprayed it on my face to set my makeup, some of it would get into my hair and ruin it. Instead of having normal hair, the spray residue would make my hair feel like as if I just soaked my hair in ocean water or a chlorinated pool and never washed it. It felt annoying and hard to brush so I returned it 😭
I had the same experience with my hair. It was hard to get out with shampoo too! I liked that it was such a fine mist but it also only lasted a few weeks for like $40 I felt it was not a great use of my money. I tried their other one as well, the SPF 18, which obviously is not great protection but for a top up I thought I’d try it. That one is super dewy (think tatcha luminous dewy skin mist) but it didn’t do the same thing to my hair. Might be good for people with drier skin. Milani also has an spf 30 setting spray which is a little greasy and has an aggressive spray. I’m still searching for the perfect touch-up spray!
roshrosh I have combination skin. I didn’t have a problem with it on my face; it was only the hair part that I had issues with, so if you want to try it then just use a towel or a cap to cover your hair

needed this video!!! thank you!!!!
This has always been such a hassle for me. Thanks for making this video.
When you reapply sunscreen do you have to wait 15 mins before sun exposure again every time you apply it?
Yes, if it’s a chemical sunscreen
Jacqueline how does that work when you are on the beach though like I have to sit in my car for 15 mins?
@@hannahpolish8020 If you’re already relaxing on the beach, I wouldn’t bother going back to your car to reapply sunscreen. The first layer of sunscreen that you applied should still provide some protection (although diminished). I try to avoid the issue by using mineral sunscreen instead.
Jacqueline oh okay thanks is there a mineral sunscreen that you would recommend
@@hannahpolish8020 For the body, I would recommend using any drugstore brand because you need to use a lot when you’re at the beach. For the face, EltaMD, DRMTLGY, and Supergoop have good ones for the face that don’t sting or make you feel greasy.
So if I reapply a tinted moisturizer with SPF every 2 hours my skin won’t continue to get darker in shade? I’ve been wondering this for so long and is why I don’t use any tinted moisturizers
Can we talk about how to reapply sunscreen while minimizing breakouts? I'd love to try the colorescience powder, but reusing that brush on my face several times throughout each day? I fear that brush would colonize bacteria so fast and make me breakout! Same thing with the makeup sponge. I never hear this talked about and yet it seems so obvious.
I'm using Hannah's method. And then I use setting powder with SPF (one from Yesstyle recommended by Robert) and then setting mist with SPF (again - as seen on Robert) :D
Thanks Susan! For the shiseido one, do you apply a moisturiser, sunscreen and then the colour smart? I've been treating it as a moisturiser and sunscreen in one. Thanks!
I use a tinted sunscreen alone in the mornings (it's spf 30) :( sorry skincare gods lmao
And reapply it every 2 hours
BUT I'm thinking of buying the sun bum spray on sunscreen (spf 50, which is definitely a much better sunscreen protection)
I think it'd be wayyy easier!
Probably gonna go to the shops tomorrow or the next day, I'll probably buy it.
Hmmmm I think I need to try niacinamide. Been thinking about it for awhile. Hi from a Jamaican RUclipsr 👋👋👋
Tbh it doesnt to anything for me but I've got dry skin
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO.
Where was this video when I had my graduation last weekend 😭
Sadly the colorscience powder broke me out in acne .. I use a spray from my dermatologist.
What is the SPF spray from ur dermatologist called?
@@noneofurbusiness5223 clear clinical
i have normal to oily skin. i dont set the Ilia and it works just great for me.
why are the re-application options so expensive and inaccessible? Not one is easy to find in Aus super annoying. Can I just use aerosol/spray sunscreen???
I wonder why La Roche Posay wasn't mentioned? They have a great affordable SPF50 spray amongst other sunscreens.
I actually just haven't tried it! Thanks for letting us know you like it.
@@SusanYara, happy to help ☺ thanks for your recommendations.
Gothamista also has a video on reapplying sunscreen
Thank You!
I reapply my sunscreen using abib sunstick... it's easy to use too!
