EDIT: To be clear, I always apply 2 pumps of my EltaMD sunscreen as my primer before applying any makeup. This technique wasn’t meant to replace that. It was simply a test to see if it was possible to layer sunscreen over makeup for the times that you have to be out and can’t remove and redo it. I GET IT. You need a fuck ton of sunscreen to get the benefits. BRUH. I’m over here trying to layer sunscreen and makeup with spf to do SOMETHING. And I think something is better than nothing. Obviously when I’m not wearing makeup (which is like 99% of the time) I reapply those 2 pumps. K. Rant over. But like... RUclips comments you know what I mean?
And I'll have a skincare update soon! 🙌🏼
I'm waiting for that
Woah I'm excited 😭❤️
Hi Alex 🙋🏼♀️looking forward to it my beautiful guru of everything pretty ♥️
❤️hi beautiful alexandra, I left a comment on your last spf video but don’t know if you saw it as I was kinda late🤓🤓 as a person with acneprone skin and hyperpigmentation I just can’t recommend this gem I found enough!
There is a swiss brand called Ultrasun that makes really advanced face formulas, both antipigmentation, anti age, anti pollution etc, that you actually put on FIRST after cleansing.
I know- scary, sunscreen into our pores😬 but this is actually like a hybrid of sunscreen and really advanced, non comedogenic wrinklefighting moisturiser.
So apply after the morning cleanse, on DRY skin (not moist from toner etc) It then locks in with a patented lamellar technology so it literally lasts all day.
I have no problem using makeup over it. You can put your skincare over it when it has sunk in, but for me, the formula is doing it all - it literally makes my skin look better day by day 🤓 It is the best I ever tried.
They have a spray you can top up/reapply with if you want to during the day, but in everyday conditions it really works with that one application in the morning.
Even tested on my EXTREMLY sensitive hubby🤓 approved🤓👍🏼
Love from sweden🤗❤️
you aren't supposed to apply spf on top of anything besides your skincare to make sure your skin actually absorbs it. also, you are supposed to heat spf up between your palms/hands so it absorbs easier and applies smother and you should wait 20-30 minutes before exposing your skin to sunlight after you put on your spf. last tip is to apply sunscreen, let it dry down and then start applying makeup. hope this helps anyone, have a nice day everyone!
I would suggest doing your ears as well.
Last year I had a bit of cancerous skin removed and my doctor said many people get cancer there because they forget to put sunscreen on they're ears.
And eyes...
Oh man I never used to put sunscreen on my eyes and I realised all my brown spots were around my eyes like atlesst 10.. I still never put it on my ears. It gets so uncomfortable there. I don’t put anything on there. 😬
@@leneskov5184 Impossible to put SPF around the eyes when it stings and/or melts mascara.
@@Turtletoots3 Yes, most sunscreens stings my eyes too - after trying a lot of sunscreens I have found one that does not sting. La Roche-posay Anthelios Hydrating Spf50. Mineral sunscreens does not sting either, but I find that they dry out my dry skin.
@@Turtletoots3 I love the eucerin SPF 50 oil control. Doesn't sting for me :)
Since its getting hot outside can you do a video on how to sweat proof your makeup ?
Today i did my makeup and started sweating and i swear my foundation started dripping off my forehead into my face after a minute or two after setting
Have a wonderful day queen 💫
Would love to see something like this from Alexandra as well 😊👍
Omg yaaas. Especially around my nose!!
I know someone who applies setting spray to their oily areas BEFORE applying their makeup and she reckons it works.
Might be worth a try, 🤷♀️
If it’s a must then I’d say hair spray. Not saying this is good for your skin by any means but neither is make up.
@@someonesomewhere3963 i been doing worse shit to my skin lel
I loooove the very raw, realistic close ups. For years and years I used to think that it's because of my usually drugstore foundations and technique that my base doesn't look like the way people on youtube look like.... So it's really nice and refreshing to finally see from a pro what it really is like up close, unfiltered
I live in a perpetual state of sticky humid super hot weather, so I am just waiting for everyone to start sharing their “summer tips” again. I’ll use those tips as my regular makeup from now til the new “summer tips” come out next year.
Risa does makeup on here did a video about sweat proof makeup and she lives in Nevada
Same! I live in a country where we have 4 types of weather; hot, FUCKING hot, hot and rainy and the rare 21 c cold front 😅
I found out Eucerin Photoaging Contron CC Sun Cream works amaaaaaazing on super hot and humid climate, you can reapply as many times as you like without getting pasty or with those little rolls of product and it works as a cc cream with a very good coverage. However, in dry and cold climates it suckssss, it get super dry and really pasty to reapply. But I really recommend it for hot and humid.
I hope my experience gets useful for you! 😅
I love that you promote wearing sunscreen. I think there’s sunscreen powder out there that is used over makeup as well.
She used the powder in her other video
@@huda9445my bad!
@@annis750 it’s ok , also at the 5:00 mark she uses the powder again
Powder spf DOES NOT work. It does not block out the UV rays from the sun. liquid/cream spf should be your go to as it provides full coverage
ruclips.net/video/yrs3_F5uzJI/видео.html
Ive used Nutragena dry touch spray over my face... the same one Scott Barnes used on Jlos body to get her glow works beautifully... Sephora has a rosemary toner spf spray
i love how you’re just so damn casual
It’s like she’s talking to us as if we are one of her friend’s 😍
You should definitely try this with an air puff (the types from a cushion foundation). It doesn't move any of your make up
I definitely will! 🙏🏼
Ditto @ Raisa
ur literally the best person to watch when I’m feeling down!! 🥺♥️
One of my go-to's as well :)
Secretly everyone who watches her is depressed✌🏼 #atleastme
@@rtcr3088 not true, don't give her a complex if she sees this lol I'm not depressed. Just an ex-addict trying to not be bored with sobriety. Yikes, yeah let's stick to the depressed idea 😩❤️
This eye look gives me "moth" vibes and I'm living for it? Yes. I'm living for it.
TOTALLY wish you had a black light to show the SPF coverage after all's said and done. Amazing video as always 🖤
INTERESTING 🤔
ruclips.net/video/yrs3_F5uzJI/видео.html
This video is the reason I haven't bought powder sunscreen.
@@akssssss9976 Oh man. Thank you for sharing that!!
You look so editorial and I'm living for it
Thank you! Video coming soon 😘
That eyeshadow look is everything!!!!
I did this after you uploaded the last video, but I was wearing a "full face", I use sheer coats anyway, and it worked really well, didn't even need to touch up, thank you for making a video about this! I always stress about reapplying over make-up.
These experiments of yours is too entertaining
Sunscreen cushion compacts are the best and easiest way to reapply spf over your makeup plus very travel friendly too. There are few Korean beauty brands that sell them, but I made my own with an old cushion foundation compact and my favorite spf and carry it with me when I work outside so I have no excuse not to reapply since it even has a mirror.
I'll have to check them out!
After watching your video last time, I tried it out today and it worked so well!
I usually wear minimal makeup, specially with a mask, but I had minimal transfer to my sponge and it didn’t break it much either.
Thank you for sharing the tip!
I love that these videos are you experimenting along with us, rather than giving prescriptive "tips and tutorials" about how to get the desired results. Your channel is a breath of fresh air in so many ways 😊
you look amazing!! that eye look is so dope!
That eye makeup is incredible.
This whole look is IT! It looks amazing on you. The lip looks perfect on your complexion
😩 Thank you maddie 🙏🏼
This is really what i was looking for for quite some time now. It's been my struggle ever since. Thank you! Finally! I don't regret subscribing to you!
I love to use sun protection in spray all over my face. It works as setting spray as well.
Feels to me like the most comfortable and easiest way of reapplying sun protection during the day🌝
Milani makes one and there’s high end brands too. This is what I do on the odd occasions that I’m outside for a long time while wearing makeup. I am so dry skinned that I can’t do the sunscreen powder thing.
I tried that a couple times, but it’s hard to keep it off my lashes, lol!
It's not a reliable method.
@@taiyabazaheer9492 oh why?
Love the idea of a translucent powder with SPF for mattifying the reapplication of sunscreen ! Good idea
Loving the eye shadow and brows. WOW
Your videos brighten my days. Thx
Alexandra, I love your channel so much, it's one of the few that I can actually learn from without watching a 15-20 minute hidden commercial but please love eyelids and ears too, it's not just about anti-aging it's about skin cancer prevention too, I'm a melanoma survivor
I love that sunscreen for only skin.
You're so talented!!!
I just tried this sunscreen on a dry sponge over my makeup and I love it! Just reapplied face products and good to go! Love this video so much
🙏🏼❤️
I could see the la roche posay anti shine sunscreen being good for someone with more oily skin. It actually looks quite glowy upon initial application but then dries down and almost sets to like a powder finish.
Looove your videos, honesty, tips and how genuine you are. Have you tried Shiseido clear stick?
This is fantastic! I think you've definitely started a new trend!
Love your eye look 😍
Thank you for this! Definitely going to try!
btw try the SunSense Lip Balm SPF50. its glossy and doesnt cling or feel sticky .
Now THIS is a good makeup video. You can actually SEE their skin! Brava!!!
Omg! Sunscreen with makeup has always been my biggest dilemma!!!! I NEEDED THIS VID 🙏🏻😂
I use an aerosol sunscreen over my summer makeup all the time and it works fantastic.
The eye game is so strong here, love it :3 reapplication is so important, but honestly i find it so hard to do it properly and make myself look cute again with the limited time i usually have to do it :( if it was normalised i could easily take my 10-minute break for reapplying and refreshing of make up
The jane iredale powder spf used to be housed in a horrible container with a big sponge at the end. I'm glad they redesigned it. It's great to have on hand for emergencies.
I emptied my SPF powder into an empty loose powder container and use my own setting brush. Not as travel friendly, mind you but applies so much better and I can actually see how much I’m applying.
I would love a tutorial on this eyelook! It's amazing.
Thank you so much for this. I have commented before that even though i know how important i know sunscreen is, i never wear it because i'm worried it will ruin my makeup, and i feel ugly being out in public without a full face. These tips inspire me to try experimenting with different products and techniques to try to find a routine that will help me protect my skin while also not giving up my makeup security blanket. 🖤
Please PLEASE don’t skip sunscreen! There are so so many now that work amazing under makeup. Whether you like the “glossier” style minimal look or a full beat instabaddie queen, I promise there IS the perfect sunscreen for your skin type and makeup style! For glow, I recommend the supergoop glow screen, for more natural the supergoop unseen sunscreen, olay regenerist mineral sunscreen (in the red slender bottle), eltaMD anything, and the Australian gold tinted sunscreen... There are lots of videos on RUclips especially Angie from @hotandflashy on sunscreens under makeup! Best of luck on your sunscreen journey, and sorry about the book, lol
The eye look is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i am in love with this eye look. i would totally watch if you film it.
Been Waiting for this video for ..... lol! Thanks! We need another one listing spf sprays/ powder for low budgets and other techniques 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this!!
Eye makeup looks flawless....
Alex: Imma just wash this off anyhow.
😯😯😯🤯🤯🤯😲😲😲
You have such a soothing voice
omg LOVE how your lips look here. And I love glossy reds for spring/summer
The Elta md sunscreen is hands down the best!
She’s so lovely 💕
😭❤️❤️❤️
I love watching your vids bc it literally just feels like we are friends hanging out
Dude so true 👁👄👁
We all just have morning/night party together and Alex is just that one friend that gives us enlightening piece of advice and everyone is just... hell yeah girl
I love your videos!! You've reignited my passon for makeup 🥰
😭🙏🏼❤️
I use the Neutrogena SPF 100 continuous spray. As long as you keep it from getting too close to your eyes it works AMAZING for this. I've been doing it for a really long time and I'm glad other people are talking about it!! I spray it on the sponge and pounce the sponge on my hand to absorb it in before applying. I set around my eyes with translucent powder or all over if I don't want to shine. Love your videos!
You can do this throughout the day using an empty/refillable bb cream/liquid makeup compact from Amazon and keeping it in your bag
I have a little/medium pot and I mix small amount of face powder and a larger amount of powder SPF into it.
I then, throughout the day, I get my travel size powder brush and apply the powder blend. It works brilliantly and adds a bit of coverage to areas where it may have rubbed off. If I want a more glowy look, I just add some highlighter in powder form to the mix! 🌸🌸
hey! i've also been on a skincare journey (starting around the same time you have) for me the biggest help to improving my skin was the ordinary. the website has a quiz to fill out so you can pick specific products for your concerns. worked super well for me, especially when i learnt not to overdo it with too many products.
love this look btw
I have found the perfect way to apply sunscreen over makeup, I actually use a colored sunscreen (isdin water color) as it's a foundation, then just a lil bit of concealer and bronzer/powders and all the layers I need, and then I re-apply the sunscreen on the top of everything which adds a lil more color and coverage. that particular sunscreen is very lightweight yet pigmented so perfect for summer and with a sponge I have zero creasing problems and a pleasing radiant skin look🧡
I love the cerave spf moisturizer! It's a little dewy at first but it dries matte for me
I hope screen on top works because I've wondered how effective sunscreen can be under the layers of makeup. Thanks for sharing.
I just came across your video because I'm going on vacation and I wanted to learn about the ways to reapply sunscreen over my makeup and I found your video. I will definitely try your technique. I have oily skin and I find most Spf's make me alot more oily and clog my pores. However, I have recently tried the Shiseido Urban Environment Oil Free UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 42 and I was amazed by how my face looks with that one. I really recommend you trying it. Great video! 😊
Great idea I have that sunscreen and a sponge awesome
You can try using spray-mist sunscreen! Vichy has one and im currently using it, glad that i found it because it doesn’t ruin my makeup at all!
bestie i am so close to going into the hairdressers and showing them your hair bc growing out my mullet is hard 😭
Okay so PLEASE try w a full full face on 😩
I love this eye look on you
Stunning. Wow. 😩❤️
Dude, I was waiting for so long for a video like this …
This was awesome. I have always wondered how you are supposed to reapply sunscreen after doing your make-up...I never done it over my make-up just under. Love you hair. Looking very pretty.
Definitely try powder SPF!
axis y sunscreen is so good. its like between satin and matte. it has a good ingredients list and mineral filters witch is good for senstive skin. I believe it will work better for reapply sunscreen over makeup. Love uuu
You should try korean sun cushions
didn't realize I was waiting for this one
Your makeup 🥰 your eye makeup 😍😍
Thank you! Video coming soon!
I bought the derma-e powder spf ( just like the one you used). The brush was horrible when applying it. I took the powder and put it in an empty travel container that was a different powder I used up. Now I can just use whatever brush I want to apply it and it works so much better. Hope you understood what I’m trying to say lol. Just a little tip.
I'd love to see a comparison of those on the go powders with spf. SLMD is available at target and I was thinking about trying it.
I love you you’re just fun to listen to and watch
I wish spf lasted longer, on especially lazy days i’ll close my blinds tight just so I don’t have to reapply, but for daily stuff I’m still trying to figure out a good system
you could use a higher spf and apply a bigger amount. but still, it's best to reapply asap specially when you're outside.
I would never tink to do that. Smart! 💜
LOLLLL the lip “pff pfff pfff pffff pfffff” got me crying 😭 the day
You can also buy the empty cushion foundation compacts from Amazon, and mix your favorite foundation with a tinted sunscreen and put the mixture in the cushion and take it with you to re-apply sunscreen, and still get coverage.
Its my birthday today and you've reminded me to get some sunscreen!! got to age gracefully lol
I recommend trying the Derma E Scar Gel SPF! It’s not marketed to be mattifying, but it’s the only sunscreen that doesn’t make me shiny (actually controls what turns into shine from my daily moisturizer) and doesn’t break me out! A pump goes a long way. It’s a mineral sunscreen to boot!
Also I love your vids and their titles 😁
I think this so great. As you know we need a bunch more than that so I think a aerosol is best :)
You could try the ISDIN SPF50 FusionWater sunscreen :) It is a Spanish brand and I never get sunburn when using them, even as a person that doesn't get tan, just burned. On my face (oily in summer and dry anytime else) it looks non-existent after it dries. It is also very non-sticky!
Please do a tutorial on this eye look 😩🤚
please tell me we gonna have a video for the eye look cause damn it’s so good😻😻
😉
Most videos just talks about sunscreen UNDER makeup completely ignoring the fact that reapplication is key. I love how this talks about sunscreen OVER makeup.
I love that you’re promoting wearing sunscreen!! I don’t want to be a Debbie downer, but there needs to be much more applied to even reach the spf on the bottle.
There hassss to be other ways to wear makeup and sunscreen. I know color science has loads of research behind it. Personally, I slather SPF on, then put Cody air spun powder on top. For the days I want juicer skin, I mix in reflective highlighter drops. There’s gotta be a way to get sufficient SPF and have the makeup looking bomb 😭 I just can’t rationalize makeup over sunscreen but damn am I tempted
Thank you for trying this out! I drive for a living and Vegas sun is absolutely CRAZY. Like. I'm from TX, yes it is hot there. But this is like living in the seventh layer of hell itself. Looks like I'll be packing an extra blender/spf/spf powder lols. Also you popping your lips was like an asmr moment 🥴
Hi! I don't often comment but I have to say that this topic is very interesting to me. I apply a tinted sunscreen (Ombrelle) that I can easily find in Quebec City over my day moisturizer. There is a lot of talk about powder with spf to apply over it during the day but I'm not convinced. However, I think you have a very good solution! I like the result of this sunscreen. I have to try this technique and maybe with solutions from both, we will be able to solve the problem! Thanks for sharing! xxx
Wow you are so beautiful
Love the video🥰
Stunningly beautiful ❤️! Do you have a video doing that captivating eye makeup yet? 🙏
Thank you! Coming soon 😘
you gotta try to re applying sunscreen with a compact cushion !
I use the neutrogena sunscreen spray under and over my makeup. It sets the makeup and adds a nice glow to the skin.
I wanted to use that but it has sm alcohol also apparently derms say that all sunscreen sprays don’t give enough coverage :(
@@jennalindsey615 oh i didn't know it doesn't give enough coverage :( Thanks for that. Maybe wear a cream spf underneath and the spray just for the glow? because it really does give a nice natural looking glow lol

I really recommend the Bioré uv watery essence spf 50+ sunscreen. I swear I’ll never use another sunscreen.
It works incredibly well under makeup, doesn’t collect, doesn’t pill, doesn’t give you a white cast and doesn’t look oily. It also works pretty well for touch ups aswell. Not only that jut its only like 8€. Honestly I have nothing bad to say about it.
Btw please don’t forget that this just doesn’t collect and stuff on ME idk how its gonna work with your skin but on me and my friends it works amazing. Btw I have dry skin :).
Edit: its not really Matt but it isn’t oily either. It kinda just has a natural shine to it.
for touch ups I usually use a little cushion foundation puff.
Just did this with Neutrogena pil free spf [break out free] over my full coverage glam and it worked BEAUTIFULLY. I think oil free spf is the way to go with a sponge over makeup.
Didn't smear much.
*note* I do have combo dry skin.
I SEE I CLICK!!!!! LOVE YOU!!
Your makeup is rlly cool! Can you do a tutorial on how to do it?
