So, soooo appreciate this! My ongoing acne clears and reappears, but finding flexible light makeup routines like this seriously keep me feeling confident as my makeup wears through the day. Nothing worse than beautiful light makeup with soft concealing turning into congealed messes and "my makeup died on my face" mere few hours later. Many of your tricks add so much ease and seeing clear explanations as you provide make it fool-proof. Thank you, Alex!
It’s so interesting you brought up setting sprays between layers! In doll customising, you’ll see artists sealing the face multiple times during a face up when the layer can’t pick up any more or when they’re happy and want to seal the look they’re at. Same same but different! Just thought that was a neat little line up! Gonna try it on myself!
So so pretty, and such good advice about light layers and building it up slowly. Not always easy to do, but a good reminder that the extra steps do pay off
You know it's good when there's little difference in how Alex looks in the beginning versus the end. Obviously there is a difference and she does look "better" at the end of the makeup routine but it just looks sooooo healthy, skin-like, and natural! I love how she didn't go crazy on bronzer, contour, or eyeshadow. It is purely just skin-like makeup :)
You really are an artist. The way you approach makeup is like art. I'm very amazed and I'm constantly learning. The mixing of contour/blush/bronzer into the concealer is just genius.
Thank you for this video Alex. I love when foundation and makeup looks like skin as I personally think it's the most flattering look on any person. Your tips and detailed explanation also gives a better understanding and more clarity to the process and I highly appreciate it. ❤

Alex is an artist whose skill just takes her makeup to the next level. There are creators on RUclips who do very nice work and I’ve learned from them, but Alex is head and shoulders above them.
I watched this video yesterday and tried it today and OH MY GOD! I was speechless at how beautiful my makeup turned out. This will be my everyday makeup routine from now on! Thank you Alexandra! 🤗
You gotta be the one and only make up artist that I would actually listen to for no matter how long and I would never get tired of, besides, YOUR TIPS ARE SO HELPFULL. For someone who doesnt know much about make up, THANK YOU!!
Makeup can't 100% look like skin. It's "paint" sitting on top of the skin. But this definitely as close as you can possibly get. It looks absolutely stunning and I can't wait to try it. ❤
It can look incredibly close. My trick is exfoliating very well before applying makeup as dry skin creates way more texture than people realize. 2. Keep the layer thin, dont apply more than a pump across your entire face- unfortunately youll have to sacrifice coverage but it's the only way to keep it skin like not paint like as you said. 3. This is the most important one imo, apply way more moisturiser than you think you need so your face is tacky almost, idk why but this makes the foundation glide on and not dry out your face which is what makes it look more "made up". 4. Dont swipe your foundation, use a sponge or your hands but *only pat* it as swiping motions encourage texture as it microexfoliates. Just my tips, I find theyve made a world of a difference
You’re literally my favorite makeup RUclipsr. I found you just recently and I find myself binging you’re videos all the time. Your knowledge of makeup is incredible!
We’re videos are not only instructional, but also therapeutic. Thank you so much for the basic series as well! I am very much so a beginner after years of minimal to no make up, I really appreciate your help! You are beautiful!❤
Sunscreen, ladies!! There are a lot of sunscreens that double as a makeup primer, if you layer too many products especially if you don’t let them dry in between they can pill and cake. Do not skip sunscreen or use your makeup as SPF! A bonus is using a tinted sunscreen and concealer around your red spots or breakouts. Your skin health will be much better and you will reach for even less makeup in the future.
What's the order for sunscreen, use it first? I like to moisturize, wait for it to dry and then use a blurring primer before other face makeup. So where does the sunscreen come in?
@@marikookie9004sunscreen goes after a moisturizer, and makeup (including primer) goes on top of sunscreen (but let the sunscreen set for 15 minutes before applying makeup). Idk if you really need primer if you apply sunscreen tho
@@marikookie9004 sunscreen last in your morning routine, and let it dry before using anything on top of it. If you do put on primer after sunscreen and it pills you definitely need to wash your face and start over, skipping the primer. There are sunscreens that have silicones in them and are good primers if you don’t use a tinted sunscreen as your base makeup.
Beautiful look. I agree about the time involved to get it right. I find that layering the skincare and taking the time to let it dry is a bummer especially when you’re in a hurry to get somewhere.

Thank you for this tutorial!
There's an influencer I've come to learn about recently (Meredith Duxbury) who uses an INSANE amount of product in her videos. Like, actually obscene amounts of foundation, and I don't get the point of it. Your video/methods are the complete opposite, and it's so refreshing. Thank you for providing content to help people actually look good as they're existing out in the world, not just makeup that'll look good on camera for a short amount of time before it starts to crease like crazy.
Thank you so much. Really enjoyed watching this. I’m 77 and have used Estée Lauder for 40 years and have just found one in a pump bottle hadn’t seen it before. It is amazing, just glides on. I have terrible rosacea & am going to try the foundation technique & build it up gradually to see if I can get enough coverage. Wishing i had perfect glowing skin like yours. Will give it a shot! Thanks Alex!
Thanks for this Alex. My skin is pretty similar to yours (okay, it's a bit dry tho lol) and this really helped me achieve a really natural look. I've been suffering from depression a lot lately and I'm gonna try to use this as a 'basic' look for when I just want to do something that makes me feel better. PS: Haha I just noticed someone with ADHD made a comment too. You're therapeutic asf, gal. 💞
Mixing custom concealer and putting it on after rest of base, blush and contour is a really good tip thank you. I have had that problem I put bronzer on then need to conceal a zit and it's a light spot on top of bronzer.

I love this video! This is so random but if you have any deep skinned friends I’d love to see a similar tutorial bc I feel like my inner face and outer face are two different colors and I never know how to match it! It either looks skin like I’m the middle but not the perimeter or vise verse. Also I have to color correct my mouth so I feel like it always starts to look so…makeup-y

Makes me sad when young people complain about a tutorial being too long…try reading a giant book the way my generation learned makeup. Your attention spans have been obliterated by spending too much time on social media, and it shows. You want to magically be better at makeup but refuse to sit through an incredible video to learn it…well, you get what you pay for. If you can’t spend the time required to learn artistry, don’t complain about how your makeup looks.

you're so pretty and down to earth, i just discovered your channel yesterday and seriously i just love you, you're so good at this. thank you for helping us
I would love a video specifically on timing of adding layers to your makeup. I feel like I always have to wait a few minutes after putting on foundation before I can add anything over it or I'll just get rid of the foundation. I kind of feel like I've been drawing out my makeup routine so much and I don't know how necessary it is to wait/where it's necessary, so I'm curious to know your thoughts!
I loved this video. I feel that the crucial issues are skin texture (such as dryness) and pores (which are still texture but a different kind). I feel that moisturising helps with the former, but not so much the latter. Probably only a smoothing primer helps with pores, but I don't like to use primers on a daily basis, and my foundation often ends up sitting into my pores and it shows from up close.
The way I gasped when you pressed the setting powder on your cheeks and the INSTANT perfect-skin effect it created. Tysm for this tutorial!! I’m a bit of a makeup newbie and I feel like I had to see this

your camera setup is amazing for this video. we can definitely see the texture of your skin which is very helpful for getting a realistic expectation of how “skin-lie” the makeup will look. i love it because i remember i used to think makeup would look on my face like it does on youtube videos, and realizing texture doesn’t disappear but it’s rather enhanced sometimes by makeup was really frustrating. so i love that i can actually see your skin, so i can tell what this makeup could look like in real life

I was so set on believing those “how real makeup looks” videos and accepted that foundation will always look…not like skin but seeing how hd this video is and i can still see a bit of your pores it really does look like skin! This is the effect I want to achieve thanks for teaching us ❤
So, soooo appreciate this!
Not always easy to do, but a good reminder that the extra steps do pay off
Literally following your steps while doing my makeup. And guess what??? It looks waaaay better thanks to you 😘✌️💕
Yay! So happy to help! 💗
Dude, i sit and rewatch your videos all the time and never get to a "yeah, we get it, whatever" kinda feeling. You are just THAT chic, with a dope soul and i appreciate tf outta you and all the time you dedicate to us!!❤
Dude honestly, this video saved me. I was having such an issue with getting cakey, primers and other products pilling, and just generally looking so unnatural that I was really just about to give up and stop wearing makeup again. The light foundation layer and cream products made a HUGE difference for me (you inspired me to order some ) and i finally feel confident and no longer feel like a walking trash bag. I really think this video will help SO many people who are struggling with a whole varitey of issues. Thanks for what you do 🖤
Alex is an artist whose skill just takes her makeup to the next level.
Agreeee. People also have different expectations for what “skin like” makeup looks like. It’s all about finding what fulfills that look for us.
@@_xiosayesssss!!!
@@tahsina.cyour tips are pretty close to her tips as well 👍
She has payed close attention to matching. She is limiting how much product goes on using the sponge. These elements are key.
You are the ONLY beauty guru I follow. Thank you so much for everything you do. Your teaching is immaculate (to say nothing of your skill in makeup)
Learning so much from you that I have not heard from other artists who do makeup. You’re actually teaching not just demonstrating
You’re literally my favorite makeup RUclipsr. I found you just recently and I find myself binging you’re videos all the time. Your knowledge of makeup is incredible!
Plusss you’re such a genuine person so you’re never boring to watch
tried this today and MY SKIN HAS NEVER FELT SO NOT-CAKEY WITH MAKEUP!!! LIFE-CHANGING I LOVE U
Thank you!! This is one of the biggest struggles I have. Also this is the earliest I've ever been here, I'm so excited
@@marikookie9004 depending on your skin type and climate some sunscreens also double as moisturizer.
Sunscreen has terrible chemicals. No thanks.
I’ve used this tips with mist application and my skin looked GORGEOUS. Thank you for this.
I actually got my foundation perfect today! You gave me the information to mix 2 colors. 💜
Beautiful look. I agree about the time involved to get it right. I find that layering the skincare and taking the time to let it dry is a bummer especially when you’re in a hurry to get somewhere.
Best part of her videos is that I feel like I'm hanging out with a friend, moisturize like a mf..what?😂 that's branded in my brain forever!! This channel is my make up tutorials / therapeutic time. Thank you so much for your efforts and sharing your talent. Flawless as always 👏
I love this because most people just will say wear a little bit of makeup, but you show how to use a lot but still make it look like a little for us girlies who need the coverage.
Would love to see the skin prep with some more affordable products 😊 such a great vid ♡
This was fabulous! You did an excellent job explaining each step. Thank you!
Thank you!
I’ve been applying my foundation from out to in thinking it would help with applying less product. But how you explained you just start from nose and out just changed my whole perspective.. 😮
I just love every single tutorial you do. I have been a makeup lover since before I was even allowed to wear it but I still learn something every time I watch you. Thanks for upping my game! 😊
You are so natural, relatable, approachable and real! And you are a genius! Can’t believe you have all that make up on. You look so natural ❤
In case I haven't told you lately. You are without question my fave Y-T. It's your "realness" #teamzyva #teamboo ❤
I see why so many like you your so real and honest and you try to truly help people and you don’t care to show your flaws
I'm getting married next summer and I think this is the kind of make up I'd like to wear on my wedding day. I'm an opera singer, so I've been made up by professional artists every which way possible, but I don't wear make up outside of work. I want to look like myself on my wedding day. Thank you for this tutorial!
You’re literally the only person on youtube who i have EVER actually been able to apply the things you teach and they work!!
@@bigbootytrudie2369 yet another manifestation of the modern malaise.
Thank you so much. Really enjoyed watching this. I’m 77 and have used Estée Lauder for 40 years and have just found one in a pump bottle hadn’t seen it before. It is amazing, just glides on. You need just a little. I still use some of the double wear in places to hide blemishes. A few red spider veins.
I’m new as of a week ago and holy sheep shit Batman!! I’m in my brothers wedding on Saturday (&doing my own makeup) and I’ve been watching your videos on repeat and STUD-Y-ING them. I followed your “most flawless base” video Sunday before a 12 hour concert day and DAMN GURL. Shook. Thank you for not gatekeeping all that talent. 😝🙏🏽💗
I swear, this video is LIFE CHANGING!! There’s so many makeup videos that focus on the products, but never the application! Thank youuuu for sharing cause now I feel like an adult who can do their makeup nicely!😌💖
You're just so beautiful and talented❤
😭❤️
This is exactly what I needed! I have an autoimmune disease that makes my skin Sahara like in dryness. I’ve been wanting to get my makeup to look good again. I’m going to try this. It’s worth the time if it looks nice! Thank you!
The way I was thinking about how I wanted to get better at making my makeup look like skin and then you posted this video. I almost started taking notes because this was informative. Thank you for telling us your secrets 🙏
You are truly the best & your videos are the most helpful! Please please please do a video on foundation tricks for tropical/humid climates! 💓
I would love if you did a follow along real time GRWM for an event! So I can copy exactly, and also feel like the gals are doing their makeup together lol
ALEX omg it’s working 😭😭😭 thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and for being thorough and not BULLSHITTING bless you angel 🙏
Eating Strawberry Cheesecake, listening to Alex, I think Alex is the friend we all wish we had, but we don't 😇
Bobbi Brown 🤎🤎
it’s been so long since i watched a 20smt minute video all the way trough (and at normal speed), but you’re so good at explaining every step that i was rlly hooked. this was so so helpful.
you're so pretty and down to earth, i just discovered your channel yesterday and seriously i just love you, you're so good at this. thank you for helping us
I would love a video specifically on timing of adding layers to your makeup.
This is the first video I’ve seen that is actually looks natural no makeup makeup look without caked on foundation. Love it! 😍 Beautiful techniques.
The way I gasped when you pressed the setting powder on your cheeks and the INSTANT perfect-skin effect it created. Tysm for this tutorial!! I’m a bit of a makeup newbie and I feel like I had to see this
I love taking forever on my makeup. I have a wedding coming up next weekend and you just inspired me to dedicate 2 hours to make sure I get it right. Thank you for all the tips, cannot wait to try! 🤩
Of all the makeup applications I've seen in 55 years... this is ART!! You are a masterpiece & a true artist Alex!!💟💓🫶🏼💋👑💋🫶🏼💓💟
I just get the same tranquility when listening to Bob Ross or your advices on how to apply makeup. Love it ❤️
your camera setup is amazing for this video. we can definitely see the texture of your skin which is very helpful for getting a realistic expectation of how “skin-lie” the makeup will look. i love it because i remember i used to think makeup would look on my face like it does on youtube videos, and realizing texture doesn’t disappear but it’s rather enhanced sometimes by makeup was really frustrating. so i love that i can actually see your skin, so i can tell what this makeup could look like in real life
I can’t believe I’ve never thought of spot concealing AFTER powder products to not mess with the coverage. GENIUS! Thank you!
Alexandra, just wanna thank you! You explain everything so I can understand! Xxx btw, your gorgeous, makeup or no makeup! You taught me how to use shadows ( with my hooded eyes... bless)
I just absolutely love your videos. They make ME feel good about my own skin issues and under eye darkness because you are so beautiful and you deal
With those things. You understand makeup for people dealing with those things. Also your skin looks great, friend!!
True art! I love every detail you share. I got excited listening and wanting to try your technique. Seems like fun not a chore when you apply your makeup.
im back to school this week and we had to do ID photos but i'm going through some skin treatments that have me breaking out, i was so worried but you posted this just in time. I followed everything and I think this is my favorite ID picture i've ever taken. thank you!!
I don't know how I found you, but you're the best... Natural and realistic person and tips/info is on point. And YES -- Looks just like your skin!
I have been on a journey of how to hydrate my aging skin. These extra steps of setting spray just may be exactly what I need. I also have wanted to try the damp sponge trick...I feel like I'm cheating on my brushes though 🤣 you've inspired me to try something new though.
Thanks for sharing this, I love how realistic and honest you are. Knowing some of these looks takes 2 hours is 🤯
You're an absolute ANGEL! I struggle to keep my makeup looking good after a few hours. Absolutely going to see what i can fix in my routine x
Whenever I feel like something it’s not working on my makeup routine, I come to your channel to learn and improve, thank you for sharing your knowledge 🤍
I followed this video as I did my makeup this morning for work & WOW! I’ll be following this foundation routine! And adding some new products like that spray! 😊👍🏻
loved this video and all the tips thank you ❤
nothing better than a finely milled satin finish powder, set with a small brush for the undereye!!
I just followed along a did this for my makeup for work today and it does look so good! Not sure how good it will look after my dentist appointment later but I love the techniques! Thank you!
😂 I don't know if any makeup will make it thru a dentist appointment
