Hi Alexandra. I just need to tell you that I am getting married next week and doing my own makeup and have been a chaotic stress ball of anxiety all week until I watched this video. Not only is it so informative but it honestly has been the one thing in the last 48 hours that has somehow calmed my anxiety and made me excited for my wedding for the first time LOL. I just want to say thank you. I will keep coming back to this video to calm my anxiety!
Do a run through sometime this week and take photos with flash to see if you wanna tweak anything. That’s what I did and my wedding makeup came out perfect.
HYDRATING breakouts was such a galaxy brain moment for me, how have I never heard that advice from anyone before?? Of course concealer is going to flake off my crusty-ass benzyl-peroxided spots 🤦♀️
It’s definitely key to use the right kind of hydration for your skin though, mine HATES oil based moisturisers and the like. But yes it’s a game changer!
Wow I never even thought about hydrating mine either. I have 0 knowledge about skin care. Im starting off with trying my best to hydrate but I don't think I can get my dry ass face hydrated enough. Ugh....
I don't have breakouts but I do have very dry patchy skin on my cheeks all of a sudden and it's so true if you don't hydrate before the foundation goes on it's a cakey mess!!!!
I’m black with sharp cheek bones, we literally could not have more different face shapes and skin tones but i’m saving this video because it’s the most concise and detailed tutorial i’ve come across. My mind was BLOWN.
I followed this to a “T” today and when I went out literally EVERYONE who I interacted with told me how pretty I was. Even had a guy do a double take at the restaurant. Bravo to you and your glorious tutorial. I’ve been slowly coming out of a year long battle with depression and rediscovering my passion for makeup. Your tutorials are chefs kiss and I love how you take the time to explain the why of things. Thank you for my wonderful makeup day and Ulta thanks you for the bills I just dropped in there 😂
As a professional MUA with nearly three decades of experience in fashion editorial publishing, I feel like I need to weigh in on this tutorial... as it's possibly the best I've seen on RUclips. There's so much info here for people. People... Stop watching whoever it is on YT you are learning from and just hang out on this channel. (Well perhaps Lisa Eldridge and this channel.) Well done.
@@cutierenesmeegirl absolutely not. Why anyone thinks she's worth watching is beyond me. Tati's career has absolutely nothing to do with any skill at all with makeup and everything with being a drama queen. Be wary of anyone who is just saying what other RUclipsrs say ... is only able to put makeup on their own face (watch James Charles fall apart when trying to put makeup on Jenna Marbles) ...and IMMEDIATELY tries to cash in of pseudostardom from RUclips success based on contrived drama. I mean, if that's your thing, go ahead and watch the channel, but don't take any of the advice or put stock in them knowing what they're talking about. DEFINITELY don't give them your money. Very few people on RUclips are worth learning from as far as the beauty and fashion industries. They are simply very practiced at doing their own makeup so they look like they're good at makeup application, and they are either giving you info on what works for them (which has nothing to do with what's best for you) or they are being paid to tell you something (which also has nothing to do with what's best for you).
I feel like the major take away from both her and Lisa is, stop using so damn much product. Like, waaaay less foundation and concealer. But be more precise with it.
may i just say that you going straight into the video as opposed to the typical 5minutes of “hi guysss welcome to my channel yada yada yada so without further ado let’s get into the videoooo 😃🌈✨ “ is SO refreshing. subscribed 🙌🏼
I am a woman of color, who has waited until now, at 53, to want to learn to apply make up. Watching you, I think I can do it. Your explanations, simple techniques and calming voice doesn’t stress me out. I’ve subscribed to your channel and will binge watch, but I’m interested in learning how to choose colors, types (creams vs powders), and tools that work best for my skin type.
You can do it! I’m 52 and just kept doing the same type of barebones makeup for decades, until a few years ago I decided I really wanted to learn to do fancy eyeshadow and contouring etc. I’ll just say that you need to practice a lot, I had totally underestimated that part. But don’t get discouraged because you WILL eventually figure it out, it just takes a little while but creators like Alexandra make it fun and achievable. I love doing makeup looks every day now. My favorite brands are Pat McGrath and Viseart for eyeshadow and blush, and Dior for complexion products. And don’t forget to use your sunscreen every day. ❤
Wow - great result! Like Lisa Eldridge's pinpoint concealer method.. !? Love your videos Alex, always so educational. Your skin is looking really good, all that effort c/o the dermatologist has really paid off.. 👍👍😄
I’ve literally already commented, but I came back just to tell you that because of this video I’ve doubled the moisturizer I use and it makes my base look INCREDIBLE. I don’t get over-oily or anything, even after an 8+ hour shift of sweating, like I thought I would! Like, game changer. Literally the thing I’ve struggled with my entire life, fixed after one of your videos. Forever grateful. xx
I think this was the best base tutorial on RUclips. I applied a lot of your techniques in the past to do a very extra base like this but this is next level and definitely something I'm excited to try during the next time I go all out and be extra. Would love to see more glam content!
Finally a TRUE makeup ARTIST!! As a certified MUA for over a decade, it is so nice to see a YT actually talk about real tips. I stopped watching tutorials years ago because it all became cookie cutter; same products, same placements for contour/highlight, etc. No one was discussing different skin types, eye shapes, face shapes.. I was becoming so frustrated because I felt like the art and knowledge of it was being lost. You have restored my faith. You are incredible!! So glad you haven’t given into viral mainstream bull crap
So cool …. I love the lack of judgement on this channel … nobody is perfect … anyone who will be on camera needs to meet the moment with good tools and techniques ! Hopefully the new cameras in the 21st century will help women look more beautiful too !
Alex. Dude, You have completely changed the way I have done my makeup and the shape of my face! I have been trying your techniques over the last month or so I somehow have less makeup on, look fresher and enhanced the overall look and shape of my face!! At 41, with an ever growing hooded eye I have found eyeliner challenging and you have shown me the light. I feel like I am just discovering what can be done thanks to you. I cannot thank you enough. I just love what you do and had to share. Your work is incredible!!
I have struggled covering acne in areas of my face that I’ve contoured, blushed, etc. HOW have I never thought of mixing colors before?! You’re a genius I swear 🙏🏻
I don't comment often, but this is one of my favourite videos of yours EVER Alex. Please do more full glam tutorials. Long videos including skin, base, definition, colour and eyes please. Btw, that highlighter combo was absolutely stunning and your base looked the best it's ever looked. You also seemed much more relaxed and less 'over it' in this tutorial. Loved it sooooo much! ❤
i really appreciate the teaching of properly covering blemishes. in my early twenties ive developed hormonal acne and large red lumps on my face. i love make-up but when i covered it it always looked SO crusty and worse. I felt i couldn’t wear makeup although I love it and have worn it my whole life. I tried your techniques today and it looks SO much better!!! I feel like I can wear makeup again without added insecurity, thanks to you🥰
The whole highlighting next to my nose and between my eyes to smooth that area out is just 🤯 Can't wait to try this! I've tried bronzer thinking I wanted to minimize those areas and it makes my already oval face even narrower. Thanks so much for your instruction!
This is soooo helpful. Others would just show you how they do it, without properly explaining everything + with horrible studio lights that blur out imperfections/I can't even see what they're doing. 😫 Your video has it all - clear explanation, good lighting & close-ups, and great pacing! Absolutely in love with the result. Thanks, Alex! You never miss with these types of tutorials ❣
girl. I don't know how you always know what I need but you do. my eye makeup is HACKED thanks to you, I got my lips down, concealer tricks, check. I've always had really nice even porcelain skin, but I'm entering middle age now and things... change. lol. so this is awesome, thank you so much! also I have all my girls and guys watching your reels on my social, and we're all leveling up now! we look fantastic lol
Anyone on RUclips needs to watch Alexandra give good face week after week and also learn how it's done. Every video is a masterclass on technique but also serving effortless banter. True entertainment. I don't even know if I like makeup but I like this a lot.
That foundation is the exact color of your face! I’m so jealous! It’s extremely hard to find a foundation that matches the skin that perfect! Beautiful ❤
You are honestly the best teacher because you take into account that makeup is not a one size fits all technique. I also find your tips useful and your delivery is easy to understand. Thank you! 🙂
You are so incredibly talented!! Just a video idea for ya - I'd love to see you using your techniques on a darker skinned model. I personally have relatively deep skin and I would love to understand how to translate the magic that you do onto someone with a skin tone like mine!
Dude, you are so real and your tips and advice are actually useful. I keep seeing your videos and thinking "wtf why did I never think of that". Thank you for all the content, you're one of the few trustworthy beauty people!
Just did my makeup alongside this video and it’s the best base makeup I’ve ever had. I’m getting married next week and doing my makeup myself, and I’m feeling so much more confident! Alex, you nailed it.
You’re the first person i see who has dark circles like mine . I mean this in a good way. I was looking for solutions to cover them but everyone else who has made videos on dark circles have barely any darkness. Ofc they can just cover it with some concealer. … for me concealer alone doesn’t hide it all. Your technique is so refreshing to see, in practice working on you. Thank you for this video. You look gorgeous btw
i've always wondered how people do their makeup so flawlessly like you. now i know, u take your time and you're so gentle with everything. you're like doing art and your face is the canvas, i love this so much huhu 💖
You are so magical. ✨ Your teaching style, your pace, your voice, your natural beauty, your skill…it all combines to making a very pleasurable viewing experience. Thank you for making these videos.
God I LOVE the glow in your skin! I aspire to have skin like that one day! With enough retinoids, moisturizers, and the right sunscreen, I vow that I will achieve this level of clear skin
Making your own concoction of powder is such a great idea!! This turned out sooo good.😍 Lord John Maclean would be proud of the seamlessness 💯 keep it coming with the helpful tips!! xoxo
Her whole account is full of nothing but great tips. I don't know how she keeps coming up with more while not shoving products down your throat. It's amazing. 🤣
I must say, I RARELY wear makeup day to day anymore. But, I absolutely love watching your videos. They keep me from getting rusty for those nights that I need a little extra. And I so appreciate that you create such amazing, glamorous looks but keep it natural at the same time. The fact that you put foundation on and we couldn't see a visible 10 shade difference sets you above the other RUclipsrs by about a million percent. And that blemish cover hack has me like whoa.
This. Was amazing. I love the way you look at makeup. It’s sooo technical and almost scientific and logistical. I’ve been watching your tutorials for year but it’s been awhile since I saw one. Great job and progression 🥰
mixing the contour and blush shades with concealer to conceal the spots on areas where you've put cream products is geniuss im def gonna do this from now on why havent i thought of thiss
14 year professional mua here. FABULOUS tutorial. This is what the people need! I know about this contouring the temple area, but really don’t do much of it. Would you explain if the contour placement next to the outer eye/brow tail area is for everyone, and exactly what does it do on camera? Thank you!
I would love to see two monochromatic looks in one video. One natural, using blush or same color for cheeks, eyes and lips. Then a crazy, out there look using a wild color for the face. Like blue, green, or grey. Just because I think that would be rather wicked looking. Love all your vids, love to you and yours...including the purrbabies.
I like how you have so much knowledge of your tools, are clear about the end results that you want, that you’re able to show us how you’d solve problems as you make up. Most of us are poor in all three. I understand make up more from your video than the last thirty years put together
The brushes you choose to use and the way you hold them and blend products. oh my god I definitely see a difference between your tutorials and random grwm videos. It gives an extremely sculpted and also super blended look. Like how??
I stumbled across one of your videos in a contour search....3 hours later, and I am in love with your videos. You are incredibly talented, and you do such a wonderful job with doing tutorials. Thank you!
Wow i am so late to the party but I’m so glad you came across my feed! This tutorial was mesmerizing from start to finish. Love your tips and tricks for a flawless complexion. I am one step closer now to figuring out how to cover breakouts. Ugh! You are absolutely gorgeous! 😊❤ thank you for this!
The colour of your eyes are just gorgeous. You have a sparkle to you that is unicorn 🦄 like. Beautiful look! I really enjoy your techniques and explanations for each step.
Getting my head around all the different brushes I feel a bit like Julia Roberts in the “that was the fork I knew” scene from Pretty Woman. 😆 I so enjoy your presentation style. Informative, engaging and authentic.
This is BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you for all the tips a tricks that actually work in real life. I'm learning less is more (especially as I age) with makeup and this video shows that perfectly. If I could walk around with my skin looking like this everyday I would!❤️✌️😁
OMG, this is the most beautiful makeup I have ever seen in my life. It's natural and so shiny, I can't wait to finish my college exams and try it out hahah
i am a person who suffers from acne and acne scars for yeeeears and i learned soooooo many good tips from this video and toned down just a little bit and now been using it on my daily makeup !! thank you sooo much this was super super super useful for me
I don’t even wear makeup like this but this video was suggested for me and the second I clicked on it I knew I had to watch the whole thing, your voice is sooo soothing 🫶🏽👏🏽
Thank you so much!!! I have a friend's wedding to attend in about a month and I will follow this tutorial. I am a beginner, so blending and everything is very new to me . This helped a lot with your clear explanations.
I’m so glad I was recommended this channel today, I’ve been having a relatively new to me issue with my base around my mouth (upper lip/“mustache” area & lower lip/“soul patch” area dissolving makeup after an hour or getting cakey af when I try to fix this). Granted I’m trans and I’ve only had two laser sessions so far and perhaps I worry too much about how those areas will photograph or look in person in broad daylight but these were some really really useful tips.
I just discovered you. This is a stunning outcome. I wish I had as beautiful skin as you do but I'm old lol. But you do give me hope that I can improve what I do have. One thing I notice about your videos as opposed to other makeup "gurus" is that you don't use filters and I really appreciate that. Why do a makeup tutorial but show a basically photoshopped outcome. Makes no sense. So thank you for being a great teacher--I look forward to binge watching!
I don’t usually like makeup tutorials because people put on a “face” or front; I enjoyed your humour, your swearing and your authenticity. I shall like and subscribe.
This was great, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with us! I wish I'd found this two weeks ago when I had a ball to go to, oh well, next time.
Amazing work!!! I’m new here and clicked because your face shape/skin looks similar to mine. Your ways of contouring make a lot of sense and it was such a treat watching this. Seriously going to use these tips for my wedding makeup this summer
Hi Alexandra. U look to be a spring or autumn color palette and would look amazing with warm brown or ginger hair. I also think u could adjust your back drop colors to compliment ur skin/hair with light spring/ autumn colors

13:57 The mixing of the products to get a custom concealer color is GENIUS ❤ Thank you so much for sharing!
I love a glam base with a minimal eye! Thank you for another great video
Thank you!
your hairstyle fits your pretty face bone structure SOOOO perfectly 😍😍
I would love to see two monochromatic looks in one video. One natural, using blush or same color for cheeks, eyes and lips. Then a crazy, out there look using a wild color for the face. Like blue, green, or grey. Just because I think that would be rather wicked looking. Love all your vids, love to you and yours...including the purrbabies.
I like how you have so much knowledge of your tools, are clear about the end results that you want, that you’re able to show us how you’d solve problems as you make up. Most of us are poor in all three. I understand make up more from your video than the last thirty years put together
this is one of the most gorgeus things i've seen a makeup artist do. amazing!!
I would love a full face of glam as a wedding look or guest… so many weddings post covid and everything from 2019 feels out!
Thank you!
SHE IS GIVING SKIN!!!!🤩
my mind is truly blown away at the concealer trick after bronzer/contour/blush application 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
If you don’t start doing photo shoot makeup rnnnn I need to see your work in magazines bc honestly under-appreciated work right here
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! I'm so rubbish at applying makeup so watching you is like watching watching art being created. 👍😘
Wow, your skin is amazing, makes your makeup look flawless on you. Beautiful
I love the trick of mixing the blush with concealer for spot concealing areas that are around the cheek!
Wow what an artist. I am enthralled by her amazing ability!! She is a master artist❤🤗
Beautiful! So understated & classy. I love this look 😍
Wish I had that kind of makeup collection. 😮
I don't even own concealer but I watched this entire video. You are a great teacher and very relaxing to watch lol.
Your makeup looks perfect, I will have to try these tips for my next big outing. Fantastic tips for a great base ❤❤❤❤
I love your videos. Smooth language and articulation is just what keeps me waching you.
The colour of your eyes are just gorgeous. You have a sparkle to you that is unicorn 🦄 like. Beautiful look! I really enjoy your techniques and explanations for each step.
It’s one am and I really really want to try this out right now.
Her eye color is so special
Stunning. I've never seen someone do creams and then reverse the process with powders.
Wooow I’ve never applied makeup so delicately like that, beautiful results! I’ll definitely have to try those cover up tricks
Getting my head around all the different brushes I feel a bit like Julia Roberts in the “that was the fork I knew” scene from Pretty Woman. 😆
I so enjoy your presentation style. Informative, engaging and authentic.
Alex!! Thank you! I have never done a flawless makeup this perfect before! This is going to be with me forever ❤
best makeup tutorial everrrrr, I just watched it like a documentary
This is BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you for all the tips a tricks that actually work in real life. I'm learning less is more (especially as I age) with makeup and this video shows that perfectly. If I could walk around with my skin looking like this everyday I would!❤️✌️😁
This was super helpful, I always have breakouts and need to cover them up!!!
OMG, this is the most beautiful makeup I have ever seen in my life. It's natural and so shiny, I can't wait to finish my college exams and try it out hahah
i am a person who suffers from acne and acne scars for yeeeears and i learned soooooo many good tips from this video and toned down just a little bit and now been using it on my daily makeup !! thank you sooo much this was super super super useful for me
that base is glowing for real great job darling
🖌 Thank you 4 demonstrating these flawless base techniques! 🖌
I'm not a makeup fiend and probably won't ever do this but I just discovered your videos and I am in AWE of your skills and beauty wowowowww
Wow, there certainely something magical and so deeply artistic to this technique, amazing!
Your skin is so glowy and dewy omg you are STUNNING
My wedding is in 6 days and I'm doing my own makeup and you have been a godsend thank you
I don’t even wear makeup like this but this video was suggested for me and the second I clicked on it I knew I had to watch the whole thing, your voice is sooo soothing 🫶🏽👏🏽
You are absolutely stunning. Before and after make up
MAGNIFIQUE, INCROYABLE vraiment pas les mots, thank u for this video
That look is beyond stunning it’s amazing!
That rare beauty foundation is so perfect on you!!! Literally made for you
I just discovered you.
I only wear make once weekly for dinners or a special event. Thank you for this tutorial 💕
Hi Alexandra. U look to be a spring or autumn color palette and would look amazing with warm brown or ginger hair. I also think u could adjust your back drop colors to compliment ur skin/hair with light spring/ autumn colors
The skin looks fab and natural, if thats the base I'm wondering what the look will be when you've finished applying
the rest lol bloody awesome🤔🤩💐
