Makeup artists should have an idea on how to make your skin with makeup look nice if you choose to wear sunscreen and also how we are able to touch up our makeup and sunscreen together without making our makeup go all haywire. That's what I am saying. Sorry if it wasn't clear enough in my original comment. To put sunscreen or not, I wouldn't even ask a makeup artist for their advice, though I do believe any self-respecting makeup artist would be advising their clients on the importance of sunscreens since they also advise their clients on skin care, and skin care does include sunscreen. Anyhow, long story short, would love more information on makeup use in tandem with sunscreen that's all.

I haven't watched the whole video yet (but am going to) but some of the things I spotted in the thumbnail are the _exact_ powder products I have used myself and have applied over makeup. I really appreciate this video as it tells people exactly what they can do if they wear makeup but want to reapply sunscreen. I don't always reapply but I am a fair skinned, green eyed redhead and I live in the Pacific Northwest. If I am going to be outdoors in the summertime, (we have a lot less pollution in the air so the sun is more "direct") I _will_ use a powder product to reapply my sunscreen. I don't take foolish chances with my skin in direct sunlight, even though I apply quite a bit of sunscreen right after my shower as a base layer before any makeup. So thank you for this video. The first day my now husband came to Western Washington State from his "born and raised" home in Los Angeles, it was a hot, sunny, June day. He complained that "the sun just _beats down_ here". 😂 😂 L'Oréal has a nice sunscreen oil (sublime sun oil) that's great for a second layer in the morning. If you don't like a greasy face, simply take a hot, fluffy, wet washcloth and place that on your face for five seconds and then blot with your towel. Grease problem solved. P.S. You can purchase powder zinc oxide from Amazon. That's the same thing that is in one of my powder sunscreen with a brush things. So that might be helpful to some people.

I looooove the physician’s formula powder. Not only does it protect my skin, it’s also an amazing product to set my foundation. spf or not, it’s my favourite setting powder.
DIY: buy an empty cushion foundation case (they usually come with both cushions needed), saturate the cushion that will sit in the compact with sunscreen, and now you have a travel sunscreen where you can simply dab the other cushion over your face to reapply over your bare skin in a pinch and great for make up wearers. You can buy a cushion set to keep everything clean
I know this is an old thread but Lab Muffin Beauty Science (Chemistry Ph.D.) advises to never move your SPF into a different container! It can affect the effectiveness of the SPF !!
@@elizajanemartin9560 I got it on Amazon. I just looked for upf 50 gloves and hats. It was pretty inexpensive. From my understanding the tighter the fabric, the better it is for uv protection.
Thank you for this video. I haven't worn foundation in a year due to wearing a mask all day at work. When we ever get to the point I can wear some again, it'll just be around my nose, I'm over wearing foundation all over my face. Hope you're having a great day Dr. Dray, thanks for the tips!
I use IT Cosmetics BB cream that has SPF 50! They have illumination, matte, and normal formulas. It's expensive but 1 tube typically lasts me all year. Highest makeup SPF I've been able to find. 😁
I just got my first tret rx so I have been watching your videos nonstop for sunscreen and moisturizer advice, its been super helpful! Hoping that my skin becomes as flawless as yours so I can stop wearing makeup altogether.
If you find yourself looking for concealers with SPF, there are tons of options on Yesstyle nor other websites that sell Asian beauty products. Most of their concealers and foundations contain SPF. There are lots of concealer options that have only mineral filters as well and are designed specifically to protect the undereye. Usually really affordable too!
For daily facial care Australian Gold spf 50 mineral tinted moisturizer I found at Ulta has been excellent.Matte but dewy, smooth finish and no caste on my skin.I learned of this through one of this doc's videos. The Cover Girl BBCream she features in this video is good too and very affordable.
Word of warning about the derma e bb cream... it drys VERY fast so blend quickly! Also it is very thick and feels like a silicone primer... even though it doesn’t contain silicone in the formula.... it can be very patchy and amplifies every single pore!! I have normal skin... not dry or oily... and I used shade fair... so not sure if it was the “color” that caused the problem... it also pills really bad! The only way I could make it not pill was to literally use it on a bare face... just cleansed no serums or moisturizer...
Thank you for posting this! I found your previous video about BB and CC creams, and ordered the Derma E brand, because the fair tint looks like a good match for my pale skin tone. It’s good to know you still recommend it. I’m grateful to you for posting these videos. I am learning a lot from you! Thank you!
If you live in Texas, HEB also has a great facial mist sunscreen that can set makeup and be used for reapplying spf after makeup! Spf 50 and only $10 👍🏽
I'm using Mizon BB cream SPF 50+++, no scent I'm almost done with it. Is a bit shiny. I just bought Honest beauty CCC Cream SPF 50 looks promising and is in the continent.
SkinCeuticals physical Eye UV defense sunscreen spf 50 works great for mature skin around the eyes. It’s tinted and not drying. I agree with the person who said the color science 3 in 1 is not great for mature lined skin. Nice product though if u r young.
The issue with the Derma E BB Cream is that the formulation of the product is not that great to be spread evenly on the face, it dries down patchy and very very matte, coming from an oily acne prone teenager.
Would love you to review some of the new sunscreens out now here in Europe that are being inspired by the gel and light cream Korean ones in texture and lightness, but will have the advanced European sunscreen ingredients- Vichy’s Capital Soleil UV-Age Daily Anti Photo-Ageing Water Fluid SPF50, LRP Anthelios Age Correct SPF50, and LRP Hyalu B5 Aqua Gel SPF30. I’m loving the Physicians Formula Muru muru lip butters! They’re only Spf 15, so I apply a spf 30 balm down first, but the colors are so pretty and moisturizing
I can only use mineral sunscreens and love the Australian Gold. I use it instead of foundation and find it to be just perfect with a good moisturizer underneath. Affordable too!
This one is very drying for me. I’m hoping it will be an option when the heat/humidity of summer arrive in my area. The texture when you first apply it is so smooth and nice!
I loooove that one. It's so affordable and my skin looks so nice, wearing it (unlike with most sunscreens, which leave me looking horribly oily). There's something in there, that sometimes seems to bother my skin, though. I don't get a reaction right away or every time I use it, but with regular use, something seems to irritate my skin. Such a shame. It would be my 'holy grail' sunscreen otherwise.
Big fan of that one as well, it’s mostly the only one I use anymore as it gives slight coverage and doesn’t make me look too shiny/greasy. I have incredibly sensitive eyes so I can also only use mineral sunscreens as well and this particular one never irritates mine.
@@raraavis7782 the same thing happens to me if I wear it more than 3 days in a row. It’s so lovely though. I have Ben using the new cetaphil mineral spf 50 and neutropenia serum spf 60 that the doc recommended and loving both! 🙌🏻
@@francescasuncoach I remember Dr.Dray reviewing it some time ago (must have been at least a year, though) and it got 'good grades' overall, but she mentioned potentially irritating plant extracts. Eucalyptus something specifically. So I'm guessing, that's the likely culprit. I mainly get a slight stinging sensation on my cheeks, especially when I'm actually out in the sun...very unusual for me, since my skin isn't sensitive at all.
One thing I would re-apply every two hours is a primer with SPF. For me (I hate foundations and tinted moisturizers), if it's a clear primer with that "silky smooth", non-wet feel and matte finish, that would be fantastic. I just looked that up and there are some primers available with SPF. I would reapply that throughout the day, for sure.
Thank you for your videos! Does a broad spectrum chemical sunscreen (like la roshe -posay melt in milk spf100) protect against the visible light like tinted mineral sunscreen?
Very helpful video, thank you! I will say, I tried Derm-E powder sunscreen and it was cakey and not translucent. I’ve been using the Physicians Formula translucent powder that you recommended for a long time and it’s great. Definitely recommend
Hi Dr. I had a question 🙋♀️ have you heard of Coola? SPF under my make up always makes me break out but lately I’ve been using the Coola full spectrum 360 sun silk drops, I would like to know if that’s a product worth buying. Have you tried it?
Dr Dray, how much of the powder SPF do we need to use to be protected? Do you recommend a length of time for brushing on each part of the face? Thank you!
Question! Make-up + facemasks (for long periods of time) = maskne... Wouldn't tinted sunscreen cause the same problem for us oily/acne prone folk? Much love ❤️
Thank you for this video. It's the video I never knew I needed. It makes me think of my sunscreen/makeup application in ways I had not before. Do you have any videos about applying sunscreen around the eye? I feel like I do miss that area because I've had sunscreen that irritated my eyes slide into them. Is it good to apply on the eye lid? Are there ingredients that might be doing this to look out for?
@Dr Dray, Is EVEN UP® CLINICAL PIGMENT PERFECTOR® SPF 50 good for very, very dry skin? I have Sjögren's and am super dry. If not, could you recommend one to me? PLEASE HELP 🧡
Thanks for this, I'm currently on isotretenoin and have rosacea, which one would you recommend for my problematic skin type? Thank you! You're videos are so helpful.
I am not on isotretenoin, but I do have rosacea and use adapalene. I have had great luck w the Colorscience Total Face Shield. I think that would be great w the medication bc it won’t dry you out. For runner up, I have 2: The Pipette spf 50 is mineral only and super super moisturizing & Great price. Only downsides to that one are kinda oily finish (might be ideal for isotrenoin tho?) & slight white cast. Elta UV physical is also great, but might be a tad drying.
Dr. Dray is like a mind reader! Just the other day I purchased face powder with sunscreen for reapplication throughout the day. I don't wear makeup except for mascara but I get oily midway though the day so I'm hoping the face powder will help keep the oil at bay while also giving me extra sun protection.
There are a bunch of high spf chemical sunscreen makeup setting sprays on the market that help the re-application of spf onto the skin over makeup. Some have fragrance included though, but that's common amongst makeup setting sprays in general. Two layers of spritzing and then some rice paper blotting of the shiny parts seem to work well for me.
Great SPF video, Dr. Dray. I like the powders used in conjunction with full-face sunscreen on my oily skin. The Supergoop Eyeshadow sunscreen is a quandry: how do you wear it? Wouldn't you look strange during the day with a shiny, full eye of this? And I'm dying to love something specifically for the eyes. Every year I have to refresh the eye SPF and go through "if this, then that...."
Thank you so much Dr Dray! but I'm hoping that you'll recommend some Korean/Japanese tinted sunscreen too! since most of the products mentioned are very hard to get in my area. :D Thank youu!

I have been loving O'Keefe Lip Repair SPF 35 LIp Balm. Is long wearing, has a decent amount of SPF and cost around $4.
That's a great idea imo. I used to buy a cushion tinted sunscreen like that from clinique and the discounted it😒 I think it was from their city line?
Wow great idea!!!
I know this is an old thread but Lab Muffin Beauty Science (Chemistry Ph.D.) advises to never move your SPF into a different container! It can affect the effectiveness of the SPF !!
makeup lover here- the estee lauder hydra rescue is amazing and has an SPF 45! It’s basically full coverage and looks so bomb on ❤️❤️❤️
I love how informational these videos are. I bought a wide brim hat and upf gloves because of you lol
where did u get your upf gloves
@@elizajanemartin9560 I got it on Amazon. I just looked for upf 50 gloves and hats. It was pretty inexpensive. From my understanding the tighter the fabric, the better it is for uv protection.
tysm for letting me know i appreciate it 😊
Yesstyle has gloves too
I like the Maybelline Dream BB Fresh SPF 30 (mineral) and Mychelle Sun Shield Liquid SPF 50.
Thank you for this video. I haven't worn foundation in a year due to wearing a mask all day at work. When we ever get to the point I can wear some again, it'll just be around my nose, I'm over wearing foundation all over my face. Hope you're having a great day Dr. Dray, thanks for the tips!
Wow the color science is $135.00 that’s really too expensive!!!
I like the Colorscience Face Shield. It's spf 50 and under $50, I think.
I just came here to say that you’re glowing!
Physicians formula came out with an spf under eye concealer as well I think i am going to purchase it
If you find yourself looking for concealers with SPF, there are tons of options on Yesstyle nor other websites that sell Asian beauty products.
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I wear a pound of makeup, so I appreciate this video. :)
SkinCeuticals physical Eye UV defense sunscreen spf 50 works great for mature skin around the eyes. It’s tinted and not drying. I agree with the person who said the color science 3 in 1 is not great for mature lined skin. Nice product though if u r young.
i need to try that one..thanks for sharing!
Isn't that micronized/coated?
I love the physician's formula SPF powder, just sucks they only come in three shades!
Lil
Likely won't have my shade. Darker Latina tan range.
Loving that series of sunscreen and sunscreen related videos. Thanks a lot, doctor dray!
Glad you like them!
The issue with the Derma E BB Cream is that the formulation of the product is not that great to be spread evenly on the face, it dries down patchy and very very matte, coming from an oily acne prone teenager.
I just ordered the Colorescience Sunforgettable Color Balm set. It’s going to be perfect for makeup and on the go touch ups during the warmer months.
I use the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist, its Spf 40 and refreshes your makeup when you use it!! Amazing 🤩
I wish I'd heard of this before Sephora's sale ended. I want to try a spf spray for touch up.
You just read my mind. I was just about to reapply sunscreen over my sunscreen LOL
Tgif Dr Dray and peeps ❤️ 😍🥳🎉☕🥳
Perfect!
Happy Friday Reed 😊
Greetings Mary Ann Gonzalez hope u r well n Happy Friday😀👍💜....
@@whitneybrown4067 hi Whitney hope you are having a wonderful Friday my friend Enjoy your day and weekend 🥰🥰🌺🌺💕
They all have skincare ingredients like antioxidants, niacinamide, peptides. Buying the Vichy one this week myself :)
Omg! Dr. Dray wearing lipstick!!! Looking Good!! Red lipstick is so universal and we women don't wear it enough!
Animal print looks great with your skin, and the hoop earrings are super cute! Your videos are so awesome and helpful! Thank you so much!!!
$135?!?! *cries in poor*
Yikes!
@@denisemc607 did you just try to shame a person for being poor?
@@everything5066I took it that she was simply commenting “yikes” to the price, which is quite steep.
It Cosmetics has a spf 50 cc cream that I’m obsessed with. Definitely recommend it for a more foundation type coverage.
This one is amaaazing. pricey but perfect option for true make up value.
Missha bb cream is the cheaper version of this! I like it better personally. :)
@@beforetheworst829 but it doesn't have any spf?
@@christineelizabethart163 it has 42 spf , I use it.
I tried the Covergirl Smoothers BB Cream after Dr. Dray talked about how good it was. Wow, I love it! It goes on like butter and covers nicely. I wear it now instead of my heavier foundation and it's under $7! Thank you Dr Dray!!!
I need to check that out!
Dr.Dre I literally binge-watched your videos I wanted to know what you thought of Lumi products they make deodorant body soap Etc this is so nice to be able to get this quality of information our products we use on our skin so important thank you
See her video, the problem with natural deodorant. I'd also check out Mama Doctor Jones (gynecologist) who talks about this.
@@db-gb5xi I was going to say to check out Mama Dr. Jones, too 😊
I've said this before, but I love "Allgood tinted sunscreen" makes you look like you have a nice tan. Plus it's reef safe and cruelty free.
Dr. Dray I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and applauding you the whole way. Thank you so much for your videos I love watching them, Thank you for helping so many people. I hope Tybee and your mom are doing well. Please tell her one of her fans said hi may you all be blessed. 💞🌼
Just got the Supergoop! 45 mineral powder and it is so nice-like a sheer loose setting powder. Quality.
Dr. Dray, are spf sprays just as effective as these for reapplication during the day??
I've used It Cosmetics CC Cream, SPF 50 for years and I apply over entire face and eyes. Doesn't sting my eyes.
I use La Roche spf spray over the make up (obvs base of spf under makeup) fantastic product 👌🏽
Purchased the MD Solar Sciences Beauty Balm in light-medium. It is perfect! The texture is amazing and reapplication is a breeze!
I was always curious about other powders with sunscreens. My favorite powders have always been from Physicians Formula.
I wear Tarteguard from Tarte it’s spf 30 powder it smells a little like chocolate. It is easy to reapply I love it.
I’m loving the Physicians Formula Muru muru lip butters! They’re only Spf 15, so I apply a spf 30 balm down first, but the colors are so pretty and moisturizing
I'm guilty of not using an spf on my lips. What lip balm do you like?
Could you make a video about that new filter you mentioned? I'm so intrigued now! Have a good day :)
Would you recommend SPF setting sprays and face mists?
@@francescasuncoach
I remember Dr.Dray reviewing it some time ago (must have been at least a year, though) and it got 'good grades' overall, but she mentioned potentially irritating plant extracts.
I think La Roche Posay has a primer with spf. I've never tried it though.
Thank you for your videos! Does a broad spectrum chemical sunscreen (like la roshe -posay melt in milk spf100) protect against the visible light like tinted mineral sunscreen?
I started using that neutrogenia spf 50 spray you suggested and it was great over makeup. Then I just put on a little powder and it gives a nice glow
Did you just spray it on?
Very helpful video, thank you! I will say, I tried Derm-E powder sunscreen and it was cakey and not translucent. I’ve been using the Physicians Formula translucent powder that you recommended for a long time and it’s great. Definitely recommend
That cover girl bb cream has been my holy grail for over a decade! Definitely recommend!,,
Hi Dr. I had a question 🙋♀️ have you heard of Coola? SPF under my make up always makes me break out but lately I’ve been using the Coola full spectrum 360 sun silk drops, I would like to know if that’s a product worth buying. Have you tried it?
Thank you for introducing me to Altruist! First sunscreen ever to not sting around my eyes and a joy to apply and reapply!!
Thank you for your video Dr Dray ❤️Do you know any high spf (55+) sunscreen that’s specifically made with acne prone skin in mind ?
Thank you so much for posting these videos! I look forward to seeing them everyday! You are very much appreciated! :)
I use beauty pie sunscreen / primer spf 50 , then IT cosmetics cc cream spf 50 great combination for very mature skin
Thank you for all your suggestions! I LOVE this type of video! Have a great weekend! xoxo
This is a really good video, so helpful... I have to save this one for future buying.
Hi Dr. Dray, love your educational content! I was wondering what you thought about the sun better compact!
Thank you for this video! How do you recommend keeping the powder brushes clean? Does water get into the powder chamber if you wash it?
Great SPF video, Dr. Dray. I like the powders used in conjunction with full-face sunscreen on my oily skin.
The Supergoop Eyeshadow sunscreen is a quandry: how do you wear it? Wouldn't you look strange during the day with a shiny, full eye of this? And I'm dying to love something specifically for the eyes. Every year I have to refresh the eye SPF and go through "if this, then that...."
Re: supergoop, I use their Play lip balm SPF 30! It's a little gritty but overall pretty good
Thank you, Dr. Dray! I was wondering what if there is an order of efficacy between powder, compacts, sprays, and sticks? Thank you!
Happy Friday Dr Dray! Have a wonderful weekend!!!
Thank you so much Dr Dray! but I'm hoping that you'll recommend some Korean/Japanese tinted sunscreen too! since most of the products mentioned are very hard to get in my area. :D Thank youu!
Thank god I actually ordered two of these products 3 days ago!!! They will be so hard to find now, Thank You for educating us!
Hello dr Dray! IS ok to use rice powder after suncreen, to reduce the shine effect? Thanks!
What a timely video. Dr dray’s the best.
Someone needs to come up with a spray sunscreen for the face. If someone knows of one. Please share.
Is it unsanitary to use the powder brushes? How do you cleans them? And will they make you look 🍰?
If you are on a budget and looking for full coverage makeup and spf try ELF CC camo. Best for use on oily skins.
Greetings Dr. Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Friday😀n what a Wonderful Vid.... thanks n This is So Cool u Giving us the Best Products to Reapplying Sunscreen Over Makeup🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜....
What are your thoughts on the VueShield clear face shield ? Does it really offer SPF protection ? Love your videos 💙
Happy Friday! I was looking forward to you talking about this again! I was just wondering, what can I do to get the best protection after makeup? Thanks for this video!
Yay!! Needed this video so much! Thank you for sharing Dr. Dray! ❤️
