Saw him twice so far. Once with the full band last December at the Beacon theater and once on on the drive in tour in early September. To hear a three piece to me was more impressive. Just how a drummer, bass player and guitar/singer play so tight and fill out the sound was incredible! To witness Marcus play and sing with only those three was something to witness. The whole show from start to finish blew me away.
Blackberry Smoke, The Steel Woods, Whiskey Myers, 49 Winchester, The Georgia Thunderbolts, Chris Roberts, just to name a few, are also keeping the spirit of Southern rock alive! Don't give up hope!
Wonderful guitarist, melodic, fast when needed but still melodic, fluid and soulful, and incredibly varied playing, never boring. Definitely one of the very best guitarists ever. And the voice! As good a singer as he is a guitarist.

Well done all of you & thanks for uploading the content. I'm from Sydney, Australia, in my 50's, play a few instruments & blues is my thing. the lp Carolina Confessions, just drips with sweet southern soul, fantastic!!! This kid is very talented in every way, keep reaching for the stars Marcus!
This young man feels every note every lyric. I'm so moved by his natural talent and presence. Hard working and strong. Of course, raised in the heart of Appalachia. My great grandfather had a plantation in South Carolina back in the day. Later my family took up residence on the other side of the North Carolina state line Tennessee. Just over the Foothills of the Smokiés. Jefferson County Blount County. I grew up in the late 70s. Every summer I flew back to East Tennessee from Texas. I know that road all to well. From about one hour an 2 minutes to one hour and 13 minutes they go into (or a jam over) the fusion classic "Stratus" by Billy Cobham (famously covered by Jeff Beck and other greats as well). I guess that should be inserted into the list. And not forgetting: the "cover" starting at 01:21:52 is a Frank Zappa tune: "Eat that Question" from the "Grand Wazoo" album (1972).
Saw this band perform at Crossroads in Dallas in September for the first time and he is superb live. My daughter had worked late the night before the concert on Friday and when he came on the stage, he woke her up. Can't wait to see this band perform again. What a great guitarist he deserved to be playing at Crossroads.
Yes that was also the first time I saw him live. He was definitely pumped to be there and flat out out jammed everyone else that night including the great Jeff Beck. I'm not sure what the heck the deal was with Johnny Deep playing with Jeff Beck was about, but it ruined his performance.
I saw Marcus the first time at Crossroads as well. Wasn't that a great festival. Two days of pure joy. Marcus was incredible - he certainly gained a whole new audience that night. Hope to see him again when everything gets back to normal again.
@@tazmankb26 I was at Crossroads as well. It was rather peculiar having Johnny Depp play with Beck. Maybe they're friends...who knows? Despite that, the festival was great. Two glorious days of music.
