Great video Geeky 🙌 I got my 4K X a few days ago, will try Your settings in OBS. Have mixed and matched settings trying finding the optimal settings for 4K120FPS with not to BIG video files (have used the HD60 before). To my BIG disappointment seems I have lost audio from 3-4 hours captured gaming sessions. When I did Test recordings under 1 minute or so, both audio and video where fine. But longer videos / bigger files, audio was completly missing. Done another test recording for about 10 minutes after changing video encoder to your recommendation NVIDIA NVENC HEVC and it seems fine so far. Very strange audio where not recorded in larger files, but after some Google search I found out others reporting the same.
Great video! I've been having some issues with my 4K X, the audio will cut out randomly(though it does seems like clipping levels might be the trigger) I was wondering if you have any fixes to suggest. Thank you!
Man I’m glad I’m not the only one having to tweak obs settings! I’ve been trying to figure the best option for 4k 120 recording and ran into the similar specs you had.

I use an actual TV as a playing monitor and then use the Toslink optical audio output to send the audio to a little mixer which I can then use to listen to the game audio without plugging my headphones into the game controller. Which the allows me to stream the game audio and listen to it with nonissues

when you tested the xbox at 120fps, is this capable of recording 1440p 120fps or only 4k 120? Also is this capable of recording at a lower frame than what you play? So in theory could I play 120fps but record in 60? lmk if you can plz thanks
What TV did you get? I got an LG C1 for my PS5 and I get all of that. The only thing I'm curious about is shorts still come out all blurry so would this help? All the other videos come out in 1080 HDR would it help those videos go higher in resolution?
I'm not really sure what you mean about shorts and videos coming out blurry? With this (and a PC) you could record from your ps5 at 4k120 (or 4k60 to be more reasonable) so everything you record would be the same resolution as what you see when you're playing

To me that sounds like it's more likely to be your OBS settings. The 4k X will be great for the pass through being a higher res and frame rate but if you're getting micro stutters you might want to look at lowering your encoding quality or codec
Hello, I tried to use Elgato 4K X to capture from iPad Pro. Everything works fine but having an issue with the audio. There is audio input from the iPad. Any solution?
Is it possible to turn down the quality of the capturing to maybe 1440p or 1080p to improve ps5 fps? As twitch only allows a max resolution of 1080p anyway? Or is it quite easy to get 120fps with minimal frame drops on this capture card. I have a Dell g3 1500 laptop I'm hoping to connect this capture card too. If I need to lower the capture resolution in order to get a better gaming experience then thats fine. Thank you.
4k at 120fps recording is definitely incredible taxing on your hardware. You can easily turn down the resolution or framerate on OBS to whatever you really need for the recording, but keep 4k120 for the pass through. I generally record at 1440p60 and have no problems with a 3080 or a 4060.
Ok I just got mine yesterday and it’s taking me hours with trying to get the sound audio to play when the controller is connected into the capture card jack when using my chat link cable. The volume isn’t moving. I ended up disconnecting the 4k x and connected back my HD60 and everything is working just fine with the audio working…is something wrong with the 4kX
I have no idea, I never use the capture card audio jack. Could it just be that in Windows you haven't changed whatever you're using the record to the new device for the 4k x audio jack and it's still looking for the hd60 one?
No not at all, I've never had a chat link pro. Generally you'll use this to connect to a pc and record on there with the game visuals and audio coming from this. Then if you want to use a mic to record commentary etc you can just connect that to the pc and combine it all in OBS, or you can add the commentary later to the recorded footage using your video editor (I use Da Vinci Resolve and love it, there's a great free version)
I tired recording 4k 120 for ps5 but it it jus records in 4k 60 in obs. All the settings were perfect. I'm getting 4k 120 pass through though. When I switch to 2k 120 it's working in obs video capture device settings. But 4k 120 selected it jus recording in 60 fps
I don't understand. Unboxed my 4k X today, setting it up rn and while my Nintendo Switch can pass through a signal to my monitor (Gigabye M32U) my Xbox will not. Using HDMI 2.1 capable cables (the one included with my Series X and the one included with the 4K X) and video is viewable in the preview windows in both the Elgato software and OBS but it refused to pass through any Xbox signal
I’m having issues also because I see no audio playing steady it’s lagging in and out and not steady staying on. When I plug in my chat link cable the audio still isn’t working right. I just ended up going back to using my HD60x and everything went back to normal with on that one.

I just have one pc with RTX 4090 where i play and record and 4k tv with 120hz and vrr but my games runs at 4K 90-100fps so when i record videos on obs at 60 fps it makes video stuttering i guess because of out of sync frames, but when i cap my games to 60fps I don't have video stutter anymore... This device apparently can cope with vrr pass through but I still think you would get some kind of stutter, for the reason you said. If you record at 60 (or 120) and the capture card isn't getting that many frames, there will be stutter. That being said, capturing at 4k120 is incredibly demanding, as is playing games at that. Perhaps the pc is just overwhelmed when trying to play and capture with everything turned up. Maybe check your GPU/CPU/RAM/Storage usage when you're doing that to see if something is maxed out.
