Problem with the internal capture card is there's no audio in so if you're like me and own the Tiachi Carrara X670E motherboard you will not be able to get your audio working without purchasing a sound card that has line in. I replaced my 4K 60 Pro with the AVerMedia 2.1 Ultra and it works fairly well and does everything I need it to. I may pick up the elgato as well depending on how it matches up with the 2.1 ultra.
If I connect my sound system through hdmi earc or optical to lg oled and ps5 to 4k x and to tv, and 4kx usb to pc, I can still record the gameplay and just game sound properly right? I dont particularly chat with people in parties when I record, so for that do I need the elgato chat link to be able to use my sound system and record the game sound?

Just got this set up and I've used the 4k60s before. I'm recording from series x, to a laptop, with a 1080p monitor for reference. I am getting the 4k/120 passthrough, However, after trying quite a few things, I can only get the el gato capture utility to show 1440p/60 while recording, even though the Source is listed as 2160p/120... Does the pass through performance (delay) have any difference between this and the 4K pro? Will the pass through delay be the same between the standalone and the internal?
Excellent overview 👍 I've just ordered one for an Apple Silicon setup and while it doesn't do HDR recording on Mac/Apple Silicon, it's definitely the best option for recording/streaming 4K/60 SDR without going to Thunderbolt and using a much more expensive Blackmagic interface. The mac m1 mini has usb 4.0 or thunderbolt 3 port. What I was told it does not support usb 3.2 gen 2×2. Do you think the Apple M1 mini is capable of utilizing the full resolution capture that this offers or will it be limited?
Thunderbolt 4/3 supports 3.2gen2x2. Thunderbolt is still under the usb standard. A usb port or cable can only be classified or sold as thunderbolt 4 (for example) if it meets the requirements of that classification. Any usb standard that is newer should support prior generations

Really curious if having both this capture card and the A50 X when streaming off an Xbox series X, would that solve the problem of needing a separate mic for your voice to come through your stream? It seems everywhere I look you have to have a 2nd mic because your headset mic never goes to the stream. Is this a solution for this? This is my biggest problem currently because of my current setup not having space for a stand alone mice. Before getting into this capture card business, I would simply press the buttons on my monitor to switch to HDMI input and start gaming. I just picked up this capture card and can’t run the 4K capture utility. It gives and error and won’t record. So I have been playing around with OBS for capture. I can’t record in 4K res I think it’s my laptop not having enough to get the job done. I have a Nvidia T1200 Quadro card in my laptop. It’s an engineering workstation as I’m primarily a mechanical designer. If I was to build or purchase a PC what would be the recommended GPU for capturing full res from PS5 with this capture card? 4K HDR @ 120fps?
Does it allow dolby atmos. Because my hd60 x don't let though dolby atmos and my ps5 says the limitation of the capture won't allow rgb 12 bit to pass though it as I use the lg c3. And also does that card have the hdr one second popping sound issue like the hd60 x did 😊
I got this 4kX and the issue i got I'm not sure if it could be the monitor or what but when I go into the capture app the app always says the capture its been used by another software. I uninstall Obs studio to see if that was the issue but remains with the same message so I just went back to the HD60X. Any advice for this matter?
I’m getting the same error, I cannot use the 4K capture utility.. not sure why it’s pretty annoying but you can just capture through OBS and it seems fine.

I just have one pc with RTX 4090 where i play and record and 4k tv with 120hz and vrr but my games runs at 4K 90-100fps so when i record videos on obs at 60 fps it makes video stuttering i guess because of out of sync frames, but when i cap my games to 60fps I don't have video stutter anymore... Im using the usb c cable in my ps5 for the microphone and the back usb Port for my wireless headset.
great video and very helpful for console users
any ideas why i cant select the capture device? its locked at USB video device and wont let me select the 4k x.
Got a regular hp pc an 4K
Hello, do you know if having this capture card will solve problem with obs stutter. I heard its VRR problem with obs...I want smooth video at 60 fps and want to play on 120 fps.
What should i do? How you manage to record 120 fps games without stutter? Thanks a lot in advance!
Does the 4K X let you capture 5.1/7.1 LPCM audio? Or is it limited to just 2 channel stereo?
Stereo capture only. The 4k pro is going to have an update to support 5.1 though!
Hi can u help me setup my 4k pro, I have it installed into my pc and I get signal to my monitor but my pc doesn’t recognize the elgato in the 4k utility, how can I fix this

I am playing on Xbox Series X - 4k 120hz - with the Elgato 4K X how do I capture at 1080p with higher frames - can it go higher than 120, doesn't appear so.
Next time, I need the banana to scale.

hi i have a 144hz monitor from samsung odyssey G5 whit 1 ms if i use this do im going to stay on 1ms refresh rate ? its .158?
5120x1440/120 passthrough?
So if I have the Astro a50x and the elgato 4k x I will get game audio and picture from my ps5 to pc?
I know this is an older comment,” but I use the PS5 remote play on my PC to play games. This allows me to add to OBS for streaming or simply listen to music while gaming. Doesn’t fix the chat in game aspect, but could help with discord chat if your team is in discord you can use it on pc side, control chat and still hear game audio.
Hey quick question. How did you get the 4k 120Hz to work? Mine will not work for some reason. My TV just tells me there's no signal but on the 4k capture utility I see it fine.
Same issue

Too many issues with it

nice review
It's kind of weird getting a review from you on the elgato product when you look at your screen you have nothing but elgato branded products so I'll take this review with a grain of salt😂
