I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this for a short while. Seems pretty straightforward as I have a little experience streaming with OBS so it’s not completely foreign to me. I want to be able to record my gameplays in 4K to an external SSD while multi-streaming through Restream so that I can upload them to RUclips at the highest possible quality. I just hope my M1 MacBook Pro can handle it! Anyway, thanks very much for the explanation. I will try this on tomorrow night’s stream. You’ve earned my sub. Good luck with your channel and keep up the good work!

@@TossSongit seemed to work very well. I was able to stream for 4 hours tonight and record the whole thing. I’ll begin editing it tomorrow. Thanks again! 😊
Thanks for asking! While technically a capture card could work for mirroring your screen, it would be a complicated setup with likely lag issues and extra software needed. There are much simpler options I'd recommend instead - you can use AirPlay if your Windows laptop supports it, or apps like Duet Display or Splashtop that are made specifically for Windows-to-Mac screen mirroring. These will give you a much smoother experience without needing extra hardware.
@ thank you! I’m trying to do it via quick assist as that’s the only app that is on my work laptop, they have blocked everything due to sensitive information. The capture card didn’t work anyway so need to get it refunded if I cant find a loophole :(
Thank you for commenting. This is the same for me. To hear the audio, you could plug in wired headphones to the tv/monitor. Or OBS Studio can output OBS Link sound to the Mac's/PC’s audio output, like speakers or connected headphones. “By default, OBS Studio will output the monitor audio to the default playback device.” Or you can connect an analog audio source to the port using a 3.5 mm cable in the front of the card. Let me know how you’re doing it.
Hi, thanks for your comment. If you’re using OBS, make sure you “add” an audio source (9:08). And if you use ScreenFlow, select “+” when open and select an audio source. Notice in this video, I’m also using a Mac and I’m able to get audio in my sample recorded clips. Let me know how it goes.
You didn’t show any of the input configuration for the 4K X in OBS. If you did you would have seen problems, like a lack of rec.709 and other problems with the selection of the video transport stream. You also did not show anything to do with the recording codec and the bitrate options etc.
Thanks for your feedback. Yes I’ll think about being more thorough on the next video. I’m more like a shower of new products than a reviewer. I’m sure I’ll evolve. Thanks again.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. Can you try another recording software, even theirs? What about just plugging in without using OBS, you should get a white solid light. I’m a little confused now about how you connect them. (Don’t forget you could always see the instructions that comes with the 4KX.) So, I use HDMI IN on the 4KX (from Gaming PC or Console). And HDMI OUT on the 4KX (to the Monitor). Then the USB-C to my MacBook. Someone can help me i have only sound in my headphones to play but not in my video
Hi, it’s likely the settings in the recording software. What are you using? Have you look into “audio device” section. Let me know, hope I could help.
@@TossSong mmhh i use my MacBook to record and where is it ?
@@TossSong when I choose elgato no sound is detected

Didn’t show the whole thing bro. How are you seeing your mac on your gaming monitor dude ?
Hi thanks for reaching out. Towards the end of the video, I show a remote control switching between HDMI 1 (Mac) and HDMI 2 (PC) on the same gaming monitor. Of course, it also would display on my MacBook Pro. I intend to use my large 42” gaming monitor for both recording and playing my MacBook screen is too small for my eyes. Are you having issues with this device? Let me know if I could help. I hope I could help.
@@TossSong but how did you get your mac to appear as an hdmi? My laptop doesn’t have a hdmi port.
So the MacBook display could be the “monitor”, but I use the One monitor for both by [switching] between two outputs (ports) on the monitor using the remote control. Hopefully this makes sense.
@TossSong he is asking what type of cable did you use to connect ur macbook to your monitors HDMI1 or 2
Thank you for you comment. Got it. HDMI 2.1, port 1. But of course the record signal from the 4KX device via USB-C.
