    (DISCOVERED SOLUTIONS)
    So I recently got mine. Great little machine! What I found is that the camera holds its angle better if you mount it through the top hole, instead of the bottom(BetaFPV actually has it pictured that way). It also drops the camera down lower, protecting it a bit more from damage. Just below the top of the cage. Also of course use a little blue lock tight, as the supplied screws don’t have any applied. Additionally, when installing the antennas…cross them and it will take the slack out of the leads, keeping them down in the holders MUCH better.
    I’m sure a lot of people have already discovered these tips. No thanks to BetaFPV

    According to my understanding, the pavo Pico is targeting on 100g (with battery), a SUA requirement of Japan. That means, it can be fly in most of the countries in the world, legally. Moreover, as a cinewhoop it doesn't emphasize on strong power but precise control and silence enough that woun't disturb others. It can be use for video taking with little awareness in a social gathering or even in a concert. However, if I want more power for free style and don't care about the problem of weight, size, noise and law, there are so many choices rather than Mobula 8 for me.

    I have BetaFPV's older 95X V3 with the 1404 motors. I used Chris Rosser's tune and it flies amazing! So stable and you can be very precise with your sticks and it can fly through incredibly tiny spaces! It'll blow yer mind! 😵‍💫
    Being that 25mm equals one inch, the 10mm difference between the Pavi Pico and my 95X V3 is about 3/8 of an inch. Not much to even consider as a difference! People make too big of a deal about 10mm, because we in the USA, I don't think realize how tiny of a difference 10mm really is.
    The frame and design of the 95X is so much more durable and strong it's literally on the other end of the durability spectrum than this very fragile Pavo Pico. I think one decent crash and it'll be toast! You saw JB flex the 03 mount before it was attached, right? If not, go back and watch it near the beginning of this video. An actual wooden toothpick is way stronger! Lol Oh well, people who fly it very slow for cinematic video will love this! Me, I want to be able to RIP it! And believe me, with those 1404 motors and a 450mah 4S lipo (3S works great too!) my 95X V3 will really RIP! But, it'll also fly very precisely around all of the scraggle inside the canopy of a large tree... Yup, up amongst the crowded tiny branches and leaves and out through an 8" hole on the other side of the tree! It's like flying through a labyrinth!
    I've bashed the hell outta it and it's super durable, with no damage.
    I'll pass on this one, cuz I crash, and I know for a fact this wouldn't survive for long! Haahaa....
    Nice review JB, and nice flying, with an ok, but very fragile little drone, that's awful heavy for it's size! 🤔👍

    I have a Pavo Pico ELRS. I have kind of a love/hate relationship with it. Some of that is from O3 with my DJI Goggles V2. I'm on the beginner end of things and I've cracked the O3 camera UV filter that came with the quad and another I bought separately. I am rookie enough I won't fly without a ND filter now. I have found the Pavo Pico very susceptible to windy conditions. It does fly a bit heavy with the O3 on it, but not terrible. Other than that, the video is so good I love to fly it.

Do not tight down the screws of the canopy too much to allow dampening vibrations. As for the cam mount I cut some stack dampeners into slices and put them in between the cam and the holders. Noticed that carrying a ND filter or any other protection in front of the lens helps to aviods jello a lot. Otherwise it is willing to vibrate. 8:41 No, nd filters reduce the amount of light let into the sensor, that's it. the "smoother" footage comes from using 24fps 180 degree (1/48 for modern cameras) shutter speed. Just slapping an nd filter on wont make it smooth, it will just make it look like you put sunglasses on your camera lens. also you used to low of an nd filter and its very apparent from the footage, i would of used either 32 or 64 for middle of the day.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  9 месяцев назад

      You would be right, except that we are talking about cameras that use auto-shutter. By reducng the light coming into the lens, you force the camera to choose a slower shutter speed and you get more motion blur. If you lock the shutter, then you're right, adding an ND filter does not change the motion blur. But you seldom want to lock the shutter on an FPV drone because the lighting conditions vary so significantly that you need auto-exposure to make the footage usable.

      I think you made a great decision! This Pavo Pico is really fragile. JB didn't show it but when I saw Nick Burns comparison he showed how much stronger the Mobula8 frame is than the Pico, it's not even close! Plus, 1102 motors on such a heavy whoop makes it severely under powered! I think a whole lot of people who bought the Pico will be bummed when it self destructs after one good crash. And, that's what we do, CRASH! Even if some fly it very slow, just for cinematics, I still think a medium crash and it's toast!

      @Jahoosapheth Год назад

      @sco0trot0r18 yea I was VERY reluctant due to the hardness of the frame I thought it would translate to more jello since the m8 doesn't have a dampened cam mount but I gota say I think it has the complete opposite effect. I spent weeks dialing in a tune with a 4" I built to try and eliminate jello on the insta360 go2 and it was just an absolute nightmare. In comparison this thing records about as good as my 5" with gopro bones! Totally mind blown at how Crystal the image is. It's even better than any of the reviews I've seen for the pavo OR the m8 from youtubers. I consider this a rare yet pleasant surprise for sure.

I really enjoyed flying my 5inch but I live in an urban area and it was always a pain to go find somewhere where I wouldn't have to worry about bothering anyone. I get to fly my Cinerace20hd way more often because I can just fly it in the house.
    I also wonder how many people don't really fall into either the category of "cinematic" or "freestyle" flying. Personally, I just like to fly the things and it's fun to go fast sometimes and do dives or split S's but I don't really go out with the goal of learning a trick or getting a specific shot.

    USB-C 2g, some plastic connector 0.5g, two screw mount for camera 3g, four screw mount 6g etc.
    They even changed gauge and length of the XT30 wires on the battery, ones that came with the pavo pico are thin, and older stock I got locally from amzn had thicker and longer wires.
    Also I like to remove the O3 "stack" (just 4 screws and a connector) and fly it indoors line of sight non-fpv, it gets me up to 12 minutes with slow flying, for this use case scenario I'm thinking to also bodge together some 1500mAh single use vape cells into a 2S pack, could possibly result in 20-25 minute flight (without the O3).

    But as with almost everything FPV, almost all stock either stays at the manufacturer in china, or goes to the US. The german stores just list them and they're basically immediately out of stock. Prebuilts just dont exist, you have to build from parts. Which is fine for bigger models, but at the small sizes is quite annoying. These things come with parts that are hard to source, or have custom tunes etc etc.

      @FabioPansera Год назад +1

      Hi, the editor here: The graded version was made to showcase what you can recover in the highlights and the shadows. Obviously, if you want to create a 100% cinematic look, the direction you should take is different. However, the flat colors look disgusting on the raw file and that's not really a debate, they are unusable. Which is expected since they are meant to be tweaked.

    • @kurtzFPV
      @kurtzFPV Год назад +1

      Have you flown the mobula indoors? I built a pico especially to fly indoors and very close to people. The mobula wasn't available at the time, but my concern was maybe it would be over powered for tight indoor maneuvering, and I prefer a bit underpowered for indoors. I've got a very light 3" 03 build without prop guards for higher performance outdoor flying.

    • @big-smoke-rc

      @@kurtzFPV I think the weight of the o3 ads about 15-20 clicks of throttle needed for flight, so it takes the handling down nicely. Stronger frame than the pico I suspect, too.

      If you are watching in 4k on RUclips, the results are pretty representative. If you are watching in 1080p or lower, then you are not quite seeing the realistic representation.
