    Great review! You're the only person who actually sent it! I really want to get this one, but don't want to spend time fixing the jello. Remember the Holybro Kopis Freestyle? I called it the jello monster! But I fixed it by replacing the wobbly TPU antenna mount with a stiffer resin printed rubber/abs mix holder, switched to HQ props, tuned it, and *hard mounted* the O3 camera.
    I think softer/flexible rubber makes jello worse. It turns benign high frequency oscillation into lower frequency oscillation that causes jello.
    Good luck fixing the jello problem!

    • @Rimzler
      @Rimzler  Год назад

      Always sending them to know what they can do!
      Jello depends by a lot of factors, you have to move the camera out of the jello frequency, either by stiffening the way it's mounted or making it looser with some dampening, but of course also the point of applications matters as the camera can start vibrating in different directions

  • @robertogiannotta4477
    @robertogiannotta4477 Год назад +8

    I have precisely this drone and I assembled it with one difference: I mounted the O3 cam using its BOTTOM screw holes. Looks like this configuration allows to suffer from a little bit less of jello - nonetheless a tad of jello is present anyway.
    This little marvel from BetaFPV definitely deserves some effective solution for the jello: if you find it at any time, please share - you'll make an awful lot of people happy.
    Saluti da Trieste!

I think is like 20$ though though, and if its 100$ for a elrs version i dont see the point. i have tbs and it might make more sense for that. bc its $40 more expensive over the ELRS model. Im guessing their using an actual XF Nano RX which is crazt TBS cant make a serial based rx version to put on the board like ELRS is becoming the standard over the usual frysky d8 or pnp or maybe some other ones..

    That's an unexpected video tho. I'm in love with an idea of pavo Pico sized o3 drone. But all the videos I saw was pretty wobbly and with the strong jello. I see that in your videos too. Also GyroFlow make things a bit blurry but stable. So Pico not yet ready. They need more soft mounts or something to keep vibrations down. But at the end of the day it's a totally win for a drone community. Pico proved it's possible, so looking forward to hear about more sub100g drones. Thanks for this video! Keep it up!

    Hey there, phenomenal video, truly!
    Just a quick observation, you mentioned a lot of 'jello' on the O3. I was wondering if you've considered tweaking your PID parameters? I believe that adjusting those could help eliminate the 'jello' effect you're experiencing, rather than loosening the O3 mount on the frame. Have you given that a shot?

      Trust me I tried everything, spent a couple of days pidding but nothing, and I believe it should come pidded from factory! Just seen flywoo has a cheap kit to strip the DJI O3 air unit. Stock is 36.8g (excluding the antenna) and with the lightest version it is about half that at 18.3g. If the camera mount had more of a method to absord vibrations like a silicone insert, I imagine it would help the shake a good amount. Also, do they give torque rating to use for the screws? @Rimzler  Год назад

      I've been super critical of them in the past, and now they seem to be trying to make things better and even had people beta test it
      I've seen some people had no jello so I left a bit of benefit of the doubt and went a little gentler, yet since the first flight I've complained a lot about it in the video ahahah
      Also I believe it can be fixed relatively easy and I really do like this drone and want to carry with me, if I manage to sort this issue out then it's amazing

      There is no persistent jello problem. He mounted the camera incorrectly (it’s supposed to be on the bottom hole not the top) . Also how you coil the o3 cable really matters for jello

    o3 is super hot. its a flawed system. I have one in my mark5 o3 and if you don't take off in 60 seconds or less it will overheat. you can disable rocksteady, disable 4k 120 etc like the lower the res and the lower the 'cpu' has to think the cooler it gets... so if you only care about the visuals in your goggles you can ignore recording in super high quality... but if you want to use it as a cinewoop, then i found its difficult in hot climates.. where i live its 91 F and its super humid so the o3 is very easy to overheat.

      Yeah but it's doing a lot of heat intensive stuff, video processing and 1.2 w of wideo transmitting, wish they make a newer version with more modern and thermal efficient chips!

    I have an identical BetaFPV Pavo Pico (plus Crossfire RX actually) and this is the best I got as far as jello is concerned (a bit of it is always present, although not much):
    Stabilized with Gyroflow: ruclips.net/video/zV2cbOM3WDM/видео.html
    Actual O3 Air Unit footage (not stabilized): ruclips.net/video/_P4rnEVbHfM/видео.html
    P.S. This quad easily suffers from propwash.

    • @bamcameback
      @bamcameback Год назад

      what did you do to achieve this ? I get horrible prop wash if i'm not moving at a good pace forwards. Tried a bunch of tuning to help with slow flying but curious how you did it.

    • @robertogiannotta4477
      @robertogiannotta4477 Год назад

      @@bamcameback : this cinewhoop suffers from a lot of propwash (I tampered a lot with BF parameters and I didn't manage to get rid of it) and some jello, but if avoiding propwash is usually an easy task (by avoiding certain maneuvers, especially at low speeds), eliminating jello is a more complex issue. The steps I took for that: 1) I mounted the O3 cam using its bottom holes and putting two pairs of rubber o-rings on the two screws - one at every side of the frame - to better decouple the cam from the frame; 2) I completely loosened the four screws on the bottom of the frame until their heads detached of about half a millimeter from the soft mounts AND THEN I tightened them a bit until the screw's heads barely touched the soft mounts; 3) I assured that the cam's coaxial cable doesn't touch the cam (I used two cable ties to properly secure the cable to the frame).

    The DJI 03 air unit is too damn heavy to go into a whoop! Remember, "It's all about weight with whoops!" So, you're best off building your own 85mm whoop with a Naked Vista. That's the only way DJI works in a whoop! 99 grams in a whoop with the 03 and a Pavo Pico is too damn heavy. Sure, it can be done, but is it good...no.
    I used a BetaFPV 85mm whoop. I cut out one of the thick struts for the battery cage. Don't worry, it's still super strong! If you are careful and ease it in slowly - a naked Vista will fit tight as factory made right into that battery tray. Well, I hate battery trays because they restrict you to that one battery that fits that tray. Sure, their maybe be two batteries, but the trays suck. Then I mounted BetaFPV's AIO 12amp FC/ESC on top like you typically would. I then found Mr. Shutterbugs super lightweight camera mount. 3D printed it. I mounted the Nebula Nano in that mount. It fits perfectly! I then 3D printed a TPU soft mount for under the battery tray. It not only cushions your landings and the naked Vista (which is really well protested in that robust battery tray and fits snug!), but it also has side slots for a battery strap! Ahh Haa, now we have versatile battery usage! Worked great.
    Putting the Naked Vista in the battery tray not only protects it, but it gets the weight lower (center of gravity) and keeps it from being top heavy - Like every other design with the Naked Vista, or 03, above the AIO FC. It also makes it a Low Rider because only the tiny nano camera stick up above the props!
    I used 1103, 11,000KV motors. So it runs on 2s AND 3s lipos! 2s keeps the weight the lowest. I used the lightest dipole antenna I could find. Emax 4 blade, 2" props.
    Total weight = 60.1 grams with an XT30 !
    About 40 grams less than the Pavo Pico! ... F O U R T Y G R A M S ! ! ! 😎🤘

    • @Rimzler
      @Rimzler  Год назад +2

      You are right is on the heavy side, but it's the lightest good quality video capable system, and can be made naked too so ends up at 80g (still a lot but not super bad)
      If it didn't have jello it would be a godsend for sensitive shots!
