Thanks to all the people with more O3 experience giving tips for how I could have gotten better results! Although the O3 can't match the GoPro, it's definitely capable of better than I was able to get out of it. Please bear in mind that the decisions I made, such as not locking ISO on the O3, or using higher framerate on the O3, were driven by limitations in the capabilities and performance of the O3. If I had locked the O3 at lower ISO, some of the scenes would have been under-exposed. If I had used 30 fps on the O3, I wouldn't have been able to fly without crashing (this is not conjecture -- I tried it).
for me the only downside of O3 is the fact it doesn't have 10 bit and thus a higher dynamic range as the gopro. But the fact it's also the video tx it makes it so convenient for drone operators! I whish there could be a colab between gopro and some drone brand
You are wrong, of course 2.7K on the 03 will be disgusting. the 03match the GoPro with proper settings, and the flight experience is not as described in your video. This video shows what you should have done to get better result. ruclips.net/video/-81bCOkSTnE/видео.htmlsi=3KJfLyxh3qCRUoGR
My 2 cents as a videographer regarding the bad O3 AU footage: I understand that you didn't feel comfortable flying with high latency but every camera (even my 4300$ one) has a giant loss of quality recording higher framerates which is especially bad at framerates above 60fps. As a result of the high framerate you needed higher ISO which is a bad idea on the O3, especially with internal denoising turned ON. The noise reduction then causes the "blur" that you've been talking about. Last but not least, both Gopro and O3 need a LOT of light which is why I wouldn't recommend shooting on a cloudy day. When the sun is out, the property feels more welcoming, warmer and the image has a lot more depth and contrast. There will also be much more light being reflected into the house as well which then again increases perceived image quality since we don't perceive quality per se but rather contrast.
Totally agree... the O3 wan't comparised one-to-one as the framerate was set so he was comfortable flying and the ISO was set so he was comfortable flying. I agree that O3 is not good as the GoPro, but the results would be much much better.
Yeah, leaving shutter on auto is asking for trouble... while its nice and bright out, it doesnt matter much, but once you get into darker areas, shutter will jsut go down, and will cause much trouble with stabilization and introduce blurriness. Also - another problem with this review it that O3 was at 2.7k initially, and in addition, there was a ton of stabilization applied, so the image was zoomed in probably to even less than 1080p, thats like 4-5 times LESS resolution than Gopro. of course comparing it like that makes O3 look extensively worse. I would fly it at 4k 16:9 rather than 2.7k with 4:3, at least when stabilization applies, it wont degrade the resolution as bad. I think it was not a good choice to run it 2.7k. 4k 60p is very much flyable on the O3 system (expecially slow flying), and you get much better results than 2.7k in terms of video.
Thanks for your video. Lots of great stuff. You could have achieved better O3 results with a couple tweaks. I’ve spent a long time playing with O3 settings, and this is what you should have done differently, in my opinion: 1. Shoot 4k / 60 at 16:9. Yes, it’s a bummer not to be at 4:3, but I have found that having the extra resolution is better, even for gyro flow stabilization. I agree that 30fps is hard to fly, but 60fps is OK. 2. In the “secret” menu, mode should have been manual, and you should have locked shutter speed at 1/60 - 1/120 range, but kept ISO auto. O3 tends to pick too high of a shutter speed, and as a result higher ISO than it needs to. 3. Under Advanced, you should have changed noise reduction to -2 to retain more detail. In summary, this is what I’ve found to be the best O3 settings: 4k 60fps, EIS off, Wide, 1/60-1/120 shutter speed, Auto ISO (ideally staying 100-800), D-Cinelike color to get 10-bit, locked white balance, Sharpness -2, Denoising -2. Stabilization: Gyroflow using 0.25 smoothness and dynamic zooming speed of 4 seconds.
This. I've come to pretty much the same settings after many video edits. Auto ISO, manual WB and SS. Indoors I sometimes use 30fps if the light is very low (AND if I've flown my path a few times to practice it (at 60fps so I can see better)). Can't say much about the GoPro since I haven't used one since gen4.
@@tgn_productions Yeah good question. What I always do is pick the lowest shutter speed that will not be too bright in the brightest part of my scene, and then use auto ISO so if it needs to up the ISO in darker places, it will. In many cases this means using an ND filter.
The DJI O3 has very crunchy blacks. But there's is tons of detail if you are able to pull it out in post production. (DaVinci Resolve resolve HDR tools) However I wouldn't shoot 2.7k. 4k 16:9 gyroflow can stabilize without much zooming or loss of quality. ISO 800 is the absolute max you should use. Higher ISO caused the blurry mess. GoPro is still a better quality but the O3 can do much better.
My tips for getting best of o3. Use lowest shutter to get better iso. I use 1/50 shutter. Maximum resolution. 4k. Use lower maximum iso. Mine always set to 3200. Make sure to get the right wb. I've been using o3 for lot of gigs now.
Great video josh! I have to say though as somebody who has done quite a few real estate fly throughs and just a lot of commercial work with GoPros over the past 5 years I absolutely would not recommend setting your shutter to auto and using 30 FPS. If it's ever in a scenario where it drops down to 1/30 shutter you can get som really weird blurriness. Personally I lock my shutter at 180° and bump my max iso up to 800 in a situation like this. I totally understand wanted to keep your ISO as low as possible but from somebody who has learned the hard way about the potential blurry frames at 1/30 shutter I just thought it'd be good to share.
gopro labs, min - max auto shutter so you never drop to 1/30 while still able to have variable one in range you choose, combined with min max iso for extreme cases it works great
Agreed. Especially when I'm flying fast (or even MODERATE speed pans). I was *hoping* he might get away with a REAAAALLY slow fly through for real estate and maybe minimize pans with stabilization and cuts...
Great to see you focus on video other than for fpv purposes. I think one of the best uses for quads is videography. I'm not interested in trick flying at all. Amazing how DJI has only one camera on their fpv drones . I think the latency comes from the processing. If you could split the camera signal, you would have the best of both. One last comment you don't talk much about flying times at least I've never seen you talk about it. This is very important to me. Thanks JB
If you want quality, shoot at the highest resolution and the lowest frame rate. Your bitrate is divided amongst the frames. If you’re at 2.7k 100, each frame gets far less data than it would at 4K/24.
After having the 03 for almost a year now and as a purely recreational flyer the 03 is more than adequate as a gopro replacement. If I were to fly professionally I would probably not use anything less than a gopro but for my use case the 03 gets it done. Thanks JB
The biggest problem if you use only O3 is shooting in the evening or at night. You have to choose, either see where you are flying, or have a good picture without noise with a low ISO.
I don't own any O3s yet, so I'll just comment about the flying itself based on my xp doing commercial work. I understand the point of the video was to also show this particular quad, but 3.5" is a LOT harder indoors than 2.5" on throttle control. You can tame it down with thr expo so you dont bounce up and down so much , which to me is what makes your final footage look a bit weird. Also 3.5" pushes a lot more air, so when you are down low or in a narrow corridor it'll move your quad around quite a bit since all the air surrounding it is turbulent making it hard to fly smooth. And I would've def turned those ceiling fans OFF before flying! 😅 4s 2.5" + Naked gopro is the best combo in real estate IMO. Grat video as always! Cheers from Argentina! 🤗
So, you configure the O3 for you (not for the recording) and eventually you blame the camera for not doing it as good as the other camera? Not fair for the O3... try again with the same framerate and lock the ISO and then you will be doing a fair comparison. Didn't learnt something today :) But well done. Great video though as the process was properly explained including the flight line preparation.
I have to fly through the O3. I tried using 30 fps for better light sensitivity, and the latency was unflyable. I discuss this in the video and I also discuss why I didn't lock the ISO (because there were dark rooms where the O3 would under-expose if ISO was locked). All the changes I made were caused by having to work around limitations of the O3. I know others can do better, but I did my best to explain why I made the decisions I did, and it's frustrating that people are not taking that into account.
@@JoshuaBardwell don’t get me wrong. I think we all get that part of the video (at least I did). You explained quite well. It’s just that the comparison wasn’t entirely fair for the O3 because the settings you chose: 5k vs 2.7k, auto iso and auto shutter. We all agree that using the same camera for flying and recording is the worse part of the O3 when there’s no enough light. Don’t take it seriously. It’s still a good video that can teach something 👍
I agree that the gopro is a better camera than the 03. I had been flying with an Action 2 which is pretty close to the 03 camera and finally am using it as a back up camera for a go pro bones. The bones is now selling for $249 and you can get crash protection. It also will take 5 to 27 volt input so it readily works with my 4s batteries. An alternative to fly throughts for real estated is to use a full frame camera on a gimble if you really want more flexibility in post.
I do real state tours using drones. I always fix iso min and max to 800. I am waiting for my o3 to arrive and try it. I have seen real stste videos recorded with a o3 that looks way better than yours so I think you still need to dial it in before giving a final opinion. Thank you for your vídeo
Shoot another one in 4k60 natural color iso max 3200. Shoot at a time of day that gets the best light based on the azimuth of the house and shade. Also angle the camera flatter to keep your verticals straight. Tbh avata’s gimbal makes it the king at these shots.
The “blur” you’re seeing on the O3 is due to compression artifacts (macro locking). The O3 Air Unit can only compress so many bits, and when you crank up the framerate, because you need to endure more information per second, there will be less bandwidth left over for the image itself, so it will get compressed more, so you’ll see more compression artifacts. You’ll get this on any camera if you go up high enough on the framerate, even on extremely expensive cinema cameras. You’d get significantly better image quality with the O3 in 4K 30, although it’ll never be as good as the GoPro of course.
The quality of the O3 as a transmission system over others can’t be argued but it isn’t enough to be the main camera for recording. Hence using both a GoPro and the O3 together is ideal. Plus, the you have the back up footage from the O3 just in case.
In my experience too, this is correct. DJI cameras flicker green/magenta pixels in low light settings. It’s atrocious in post and not good enough for client work.
I have noticed that the 2.7k res on the O3 usually gives a bad result. So maybe if you shot it in 4K 16:9 you could have gotten a quite a bit better of a shot with the O3!
Literally just got this drone and the geprc naked kit for a refurb gopro 11 I got for this project. Was delivered 7 days ago and today you drop this video. As a long time JB viewer and 7yr long subscriber, this is what we call a quinkydink. Great vid, JB! Showing some people new to this style of flying your trials and obstacles. Had really considered adding DJI video ecosystem to my mix for this quad and a couple cinelifters I am collecting parts for, I think I will stick with Walksnail as I have the HDZero/WS vrx, for penetration and image quality of the fpv feed for RE fly through. Though, I would love to see HDzero push up to be comparable re: penetration. Might experiment with the patch antennas I have.
As an RE photographer and FPV pilot, I've considered doing fly-throughs, but I think it is only appropriate with high end homes or homes with sweeping views of the landscape. Very interesting see you dip your toes in my world Joshua! Color-grading homes with a rainbow of color temps inside is a huge issue, even when using a fullframe camera. Preferably its a sunny day and a home with enough windows to allow a lot of natural light in, in which case the home is shot with no interior lighting. Iphones for all their faults, are actually decent dealing with shifting color temperatures. A cine-drone with an auto leveling iphone-like camera attached would be the dream. Also, always shoot on a sunny day for better light, color and contrast!
I had to keyframe the grading to adjust as best as I could the white balance shift 😂 not to mention the shadows and highlights. But of a nightmare, I agree 😅 The editor.
I don’t disagree but I don’t think it’s just for high end homes. I would use better cameras for high end homes. It’s not crazy expensive or time consuming to do a one take so most properties could use it.
@@FabioPansera I figured you had to keyframe and ramp the color temperature. I wouldn't even dare to open the raw video files knowing how much work this all was.
This will be taken the wrong way, but Ill put it this way: your flying makes me appreciate the guys who do this professionally and make it look SO much smoother than (even) you. Im not half the FPV pilot you are, and have zero experience (or ambition) doing real estate, but I think you should have flown a lot faster so that the vertical movements would be smoothed out a lot more?
It is EXTREMELY hard to do a silky smooth one take flythrough like the pros do. Yes they make it look super easy. There's got to be thousands of hours of stick time behind whenever you see a smooth take. I'm too scared to fly inside so all my real estate videos are outside only.
Thank you so much for posting this. We have a flight class and one of the things I am hoping to incorporate is fly throughs. This video is a great starting point. Thank you!
Your are worng. You are comparing 4k 10 bit gopro video with the 2.7k 10 bit flat log. If you chose 4k 50p 10 bit in the dji the are EQUAL! The only thin is that you have to grade the footage.
I've been flying the exact same camera setup (O3 + GEPRC Naked GoPro 11) and never got to use the O3 footage. The only upside is the bigger field of view, but other than that the weight of the naked GoPro are worth every single gram.
Ive been loving this drone; I dont have any cinematography needs for it; but as far as first time bind n fly purchases go, it checked my boxes; 6S and prop gaurds; they even installed an M10 gps chip special order. Ive been loving it.
I'm not having issues flying it with Action 2 and 6S 1550mAh battery for 10-12 minutes. I think it's very good time. Although the first time it arrived, the FC fried after 10 minutes after unpacking... haven't even flew it.. And I had very hard time getting replacement FC from GepRC, they were consistently trying to convince me that it was my fault which obviously wasn't. It ended up well, I received fixed quad (yes, I had to send it back to China so that they can be sure it's not my fault) and it flies very good to be honest! Very good quad.
I've been editing and color grading a lot of 03 videos with a small 100g frame I created and a lot of footage from different pilots in all sorts of lighting situations. Generally the 03 when shot in log/60fps, will stack up really well against a GoPro and there are some easy tricks to make the low light footage look great. @joshuabardwell would be happy to help you and your editor ( I professionally color grade in resolve) if you ever want to do a follow up video and really put these cameras head to head.
I have the GoPro 10, Action 4, and DJI O3. Action 4 has the best image to color grade (DLog-M) even better than the GoPro 13 in my opinion. The GoPro 10 is good because in its decased format it's much lighter than the Action 4, for a cinewhoop that's important, and it still provides good enough results. The DJI O3 is okay footage to share with your friends or social media, but nowhere near professional quality.
Depending on the situation the o3 can defenetly work and be enough but everytime I compare the gopro to the o3 I just prefere the gopro picture soo much. Imo the gopro has nicer colours and more dynamic range. Also I like to lock the settings on the gopro but leave the o3 on auto, easy to fly in darker parts but still looks very nice
They should make naked dji osmo action 4 cameras. Has front touch screen, better low light quality, and doesn’t overheat, so, no need for the fan. It’s also smaller.
12:05 you need optical flow, but more specifically inside Davinci Resolve with a higher quality setting like "Enhanced Better" or "Speedwarp". Key in some additional motion blur for added smoothness. Premiere always gave me issues with speed ramping.
I quit flying like 4 years ago and have been thinking about getting back into it, but I feel like so much has happened I don’t know if my analog stuff would even fly lol.
If it worked before, it’ll likely still work. Don’t worry about changing anything for now. Go see if you are still into it. Modern props and batteries will make most of the performance difference to current quads, but honestly, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If you have a simulator you can fly on your computer with your radio… that would be a good test too.
@@lemonsquareFPV I thought people would know that I meant that statement as a joke, I know analog still works, but I actually went out and flew after making that comment and it was fun but I don’t think I will goto digital at all
@@jprizzle2604 nice 👍🏻 always fun to fly. Analog is great 👍🏻 if it works, it works! Sorry I’m socially dumb when I work so much and sleep so little. 😜 I teach a lot of people to FPV, so my brain defaults to auto help.
hey great video as usual! by the way you can record in 4k with the o3 in 16:9 and then in gyroflow it won't be stretched in another format but the video will still be in a good 16:9 :)
Jaja after I use a naked Gopro just alike the Geprc one after 2 years,Dear master Bardwell finally release some tutorial about it!!! Bravo!!!👏Hope I will show u something new on Discord that can impress u !!!!
Why is there a need for drone video especially one cut if inside the house? , any gimbal camera or even osmo pocket can do better camera quality job when inside the house. For me, can drone the outside then into the door, but the rest can be hand shot footage. Play with transitions so it's not boring. 😂
People want a one-take from outside at a high enough altitude that you can't hand hold a camera to inside without any cuts/transitions. RE photographers/videographers set the bar high and now we all have to follow. Clients will start asking for it specifically.
I learned that 8:7 ratio is optimal for reel steady for the GoPro! When I flew through a home about 6 days ago, I used the O3 and set the settings to 30FPS, 1/60th of a second shutter speed, auto ISO, and manual white balance. and had an ND8 ND filter on because it would have been blown out on the outside flying in. It can get pretty grainy inside in a dark room, but its better than an under exposed image for sure. The video I did is actually here: ruclips.net/video/KrO5omQT2X0/видео.htmlsi=SayxUnv3ZaKc-LF2
Nice and something different from you. These kinds of shots definitely need to be done on a sunny day, everything looks so much better, especially with small action cameras which need a ton of light. I have a villa one shot on my channel which is done with Geprc Cinelog 35 HD (the older version) carrying a full sized GoPro 11 without a battery. It was a nice and sunny day which really helps with the quality, if someone wants a reference how big of a difference that makes.
The most annoying thing was the landscapers showing up to mow halfway through the day. I was happy to have a cut lawn in the final cut but all my earlier shots were tossed out.
@@JoshuaBardwelloh LOL. I can totally see how pissed I would be. To get a good shot it isn't enough the FPV guy does his job well, it's a combination of things. I'm sure you'll give us an astounding one shot video later. This was an entertaining video to watch, don't get me wrong! Wouldn't mind seeing more stuff like this.
The cable that comes with the naked GoPro is exactly what I need for my Remote ID module. It also has the BEC built in but the cable it comes with is awful. Have been searching Amazon for balance connectors but can’t find the correct one.
I think you could get better result with the o3 even it’s never gonna match GoPro since o3 have 2 missions during the flight trasmite video and record sale time / even though I say in your build that the GoPro have a pretty big anti vibration mount that the o3 didn’t had and that makes the o3 suffer vibration and hard to get things in focus .
Oof, I used to be in the camp that the O3 looked good enough, but in this footage it was pretty bad. There was a hallway shot that led into the garage that just looked awful with all the low light speckling even though there was a fair amount of light.
I lost the battery door for my hero 8 so I've been flying my o3 5 inch quad without a Gopro. This is also my first 6s quad, so I'm sure this is a combination of 6s and less weight because of no Gopro, but I'm getting 5 to 6 minutes of freestyle flying in a 1300 6s and 6 to 7 and a half minutes with a 1550 6s. I built a cinelog and it flies like shit. I need to find someone that can tune it for me. Or if someone would add a cinelog preset on Betaflight.
Both cameras should be set to 60fps for comparison. I agree the 30 fps is unflyable but 60fps is definitely flyable and would be a much better comparison then this
Fantastic flying and comparison, Joshua! Thanks a bunch! 😃 Something I just thought about while watching the end... Walksnail can't record in 2.7k or 4k, but at the same time you can fly in race mode while still getting 1080p 60fps in the recording. So, imagine if DJI could do the same and separate the settings. Or better yet, if Walksnail made a câmera and VTX capable of doing it! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Joshua, can you share the tuning for this indoor flight?? please 🙏🏻 I have the same drone but I feel it's too powerful and I'm not familiar with tuning.
Yeah I tested the O3 for just one fly through shoot and... it just didn't work out... Not the results I'm looking for. Gopro all the way. :D The stuff I've seen coming out of the Avata is pretty decent though... Anybody know why?
Lots of unwanted artifacts with the 03's grade for sure. Imo, the 03 just can't hang in comparison as most of us already know. Not that it isn't great or good, I do think it is impressive and if you do t have a gopro, it might do for certain things. Professional work though? I don't think so.
You let the o3 trash its own image with the iso. If you prioritise lower shutter speed over higher iso you will get much better footage here. But then flying would be at 30fps.
You would have better luck with using rec709 to timeline color space in DaVinci. D cinelike doesn't pull the colors out. Rec709 will appear to be overexposed initially but all the highlight details are still there
@@im_gldn I don’t use Da Vinci, I use premiere with third parties software for professional grading. It works differently from Da Vinci interns or color space etc
Bingo - this is why there's such a huge difference... the ISO is much higher and/or shutter is much slower due to increased frame rate on o3, which results in more noise ( high iso) and motion blur (low shutter speed). Surprised he didn't feel comfortable flying at 60fps. Could've decreased noise reduction which can cause ghosting and soft spots/blur too
@JB thanks for another very informative video. As you say, it appears some other people have achieved better results with the o3. I’ve got one on a Pavo Pico, which I haven’t got round to setting up yet, but I’m hopeful I can get professional-like results with it 😊
I did not know so much about the o3, and before this video i was really thinking that that o3 camera could be a game changer. Thanks a lot. About gyroflow, did you apply any altitude stabilization? you raw video seems to be so shaky compared to output one, thanks in advice
03 unit and Goggles 2 are the SHXXX just wish DJI would give us more control over Picture adjustment's ,, Thats what gets me ,, I like to add my own color , sharpness , contrast ,,, why ?????????????????????????????????????
I know you don’t read these but if the vtx companies were smart like if o4 is as good as I here. Everyone who reviewed the avata 2 never discuss the 04 part. I know it has the same sensor as my dji action camera anyway my point is add a port to the vtx where you can add a second camera then take the small O3 camera and put one on top of the drone. It’s small light and you only need the one vtx on the quad or hell take analog off put the chip to record on the flight controller. So many ways to do this we just don’t.
My arris x220 has flown great for 2 months I’ve gotta so good a flying acro and have learned a ton from you josh thanks so much for all your hard work. I just replaced my whole frame for the second time on my x220 and it was flying great but all of a sudden it started dripping out of the sky and It happens everytime I drop the throttle to idle I can’t find a video explaining what it could be I tried turned my idle up to 8% but it still drops out of the sky as soon as I drop my throttle all the way to idle
If you had shot at 24FPS and then edited at 30 FPS, you could have sped up so the frames matched the project frame rate. Setting the project to 24 and shooting at 30 may also have created some percentage options that would have line up better. Final Cut Pro has an option to adjust the seed so the frames match, you can then use this speed as a reference to figure out what frame rates work the best. If you used a combination that resulted in 60% resulted in the clip frames matching the project frames, 120% would also work well.
DJI AVATA IS probably the best for doing a fly through of a house, the only problem is getting the card out to download the video. One of the cures is the master airscrew 3 blade props, it gives some more wriggle room for taking out and putting in the memory card.
Overall, this was a cool video and I love your content and the way you film/commentate, but I'm not sure I agree that you gave both camera's the same "apples to apples" chance for post editing (in fairness you even state that you're not sure you had it setup right because you've seen other footage from DJI that seemed better; you're awesome and humble)... however, I really think you did the comparison a dis-service not filming O3 in 4k and lower fps for this comparison. I also think allowing it to go up to 6400 ISO vs. the gopro max at 200 ISO hurt this a LOT where you are pointing out noise. You were using 100fps (which limits the min shutter it can pick and causes it to have to bump ISO compared to the GoPro). I'm still not sure how you were getting "unflyable" latency with 4k for just a cinewhoop real estate fly through. Something must have been set up wrong on the goggles? 4k/60 and 4k/30 are both 34ms latency on DJI (which is same THE SAME latency on DJI as 2.7k/100) on Goggles2 in 1080p. 16:9/4K can post stabilize too (though I know you were looking to do Ultra-wide and thought that was because of the 4:3 selection, but you would find you can't do the post gyro-flow stabilization with ultra-wide for some reason on DJI). P.S. Turn OFF moving fans for filmed fly troughs!!!
You just knew all the DJI fan boys wiuld come up with a million excuses, but facts is facts, nobodys saying dji isn't bad, just not as professional as gopro, which lets face it isn't "PRO" either.
can you make a video on how to connect the radiomaster pocket to fly liftoff on the ps4? only found the video where you announced that liftoff announced that radio connection would be available but didn‘t find any other tutorial on how to do it
Thanks to all the people with more O3 experience giving tips for how I could have gotten better results! Although the O3 can't match the GoPro, it's definitely capable of better than I was able to get out of it. Please bear in mind that the decisions I made, such as not locking ISO on the O3, or using higher framerate on the O3, were driven by limitations in the capabilities and performance of the O3.
Brilliant comments
I know this is petty but the dollar sign does not come after the number. Where did you pick that up im sincerely curious.
@@DJZander303I think he picked up that habit from your mom, thats where I learned it 😂
Thanks for your video. Lots of great stuff. You could have achieved better O3 results with a couple tweaks. I’ve spent a long time playing with O3 settings, and this is what you should have done differently, in my opinion:
In summary, this is what I’ve found to be the best O3 settings:
4k 60fps, EIS off, Wide, 1/60-1/120 shutter speed, Auto ISO (ideally staying 100-800), D-Cinelike color to get 10-bit, locked white balance, Sharpness -2, Denoising -2.
Thanks for the tips!
🔥🔥🤝👌🏻
Question though, because if you lock that shutter outside at 1/60, it’s going to be over exposed like crazy so how would that work?
What FPS do you shoot at? Dont you get crazy motion blur?
I usually fly with o3 and 50fps and I have pretty good results! I wouldn't say that is a match with the gopro, but not terrible as in this video.
+1
gopro labs, min - max auto shutter so you never drop to 1/30 while still able to have variable one in range you choose, combined with min max iso for extreme cases it works great
Agreed. Especially when I'm flying fast (or even MODERATE speed pans). I was *hoping* he might get away with a REAAAALLY slow fly through for real estate and maybe minimize pans with stabilization and cuts...
Agreed. Auto shutter not a good idea, push ISO max to 800.
I often land around 400 ISO before noise is a bit much. But you can totally get away with 800 after some noise reduction
Thanks JB
I know several pros that run the 03 on real-estate shoots less weight less noise 😊
Could you share some links please 🙏
4s 2.5" + Naked gopro is the best combo in real estate IMO.
It was his first real state gig. I have seen others using the O3 and the result was waaaaaay better than JB's
You’re supposed to turn off all the ceiling fans 😝
The “blur” you’re seeing on the O3 is due to compression artifacts (macro locking).
The O3 Air Unit can only compress so many bits, and when you crank up the framerate, because you need to endure more information per second, there will be less bandwidth left over for the image itself, so it will get compressed more, so you’ll see more compression artifacts.
You’ll get this on any camera if you go up high enough on the framerate, even on extremely expensive cinema cameras.
You’d get significantly better image quality with the O3 in 4K 30, although it’ll never be as good as the GoPro of course.
I took my gopros off my quads with the 03. Just don't need a gopro anymore.
It's possible. But as far as I know, all the pros shoot 4:3 so they have more capability when stabilizing.
But of a nightmare, I agree 😅
The editor.
Thanks for the support😅@@mjodr
This will be taken the wrong way, but Ill put it this way: your flying makes me appreciate the guys who do this professionally and make it look SO much smoother than (even) you. Im not half the FPV pilot you are, and have zero experience (or ambition) doing real estate, but I think you should have flown a lot faster so that the vertical movements would be smoothed out a lot more?
No offense taken. It was really hard to fly this smoothly, and it's still got a LOT of room for improvement.
@@JoshuaBardwell This may be one situation where throttle expo is a good idea.
It is EXTREMELY hard to do a silky smooth one take flythrough like the pros do. Yes they make it look super easy. There's got to be thousands of hours of stick time behind whenever you see a smooth take. I'm too scared to fly inside so all my real estate videos are outside only.
Walksnail pro camera would be an interesting contender for this. I just built a cinewhoop with it.
It is difficult to compare ISO 200 (gopro) VS ISO 6400 (o3). 100fps on O3 definitely applies ISO 6400
I was thinking the same thing. This was not a proper and fair comparison IMO.
It's not jittery when you speed it up because of lack of FPS. It's jittery because of the lack of proper motion blur when you speed it up.
If ur just flying for fun. Filming for urself and family O3 is great. But if ur doing professional video for customers u def need to use the gopro
Ceiling fans on are bad news for smooth indoor flying
They should make naked dji osmo action 4 cameras. Has front touch screen, better low light quality, and doesn’t overheat, so, no need for the fan.
It’s also smaller.
Can't WAIT for you to be back!
I teach a lot of people to FPV, so my brain defaults to auto help.
I still fly analog, and shoot with a Hero 10 Bones (GoPros official “naked” cam)
hey great video as usual! by the way you can record in 4k with the o3 in 16:9 and then in gyroflow it won't be stretched in another format but the video will still be in a good 16:9 :)
When on 2.7 k 60 run elrs at f1000 and you won't notice the latency as much
Gopro settings and color correction tools help with the 'lighting' too.
Awesome video! Answers so many questions. I definitely learned something new today!
Hi Joshua' The Flywoo naked kit is also mad with the front screen! I have it and it's realy good stuff!
Regarding the live camera preview on your smartphone: Try updating GoPro Labs firmware on your camera. That fixed it for me. 👍🏻
If you're having issues connecting to the wifi. Ensure you're not using VPN or ADBlocker. This can sometime cause no connection issues.
Dji Avata is the best solution for that kind of works!
Sadly, this was the day that the house was available and I was avaialble.
@@JoshuaBardwell I totally get it! Not an easy thing to get schedules matching and weather is always an annoying thing.
Now if the o4 comes out for fpv, you should make the same comparison again!
How about the insta360 go3!
Both cameras should be set to 60fps for comparison. I agree the 30 fps is unflyable but 60fps is definitely flyable and would be a much better comparison then this
I tried 60 fps and did not find it to be flyable.
Very true. I’m shitty at colour grading but I do find it waaay easier to do it with a GoPro clip than an O3.. 😅😂
Fantastic flying and comparison, Joshua! Thanks a bunch! 😃
Something I just thought about while watching the end...
Give us a full review of the Cinelog too!!! Great Video though!
Joshua, can you share the tuning for this indoor flight?? please 🙏🏻
I have the same drone but I feel it's too powerful and I'm not familiar with tuning.
Yeah I tested the O3 for just one fly through shoot and... it just didn't work out... Not the results I'm looking for. Gopro all the way. :D The stuff I've seen coming out of the Avata is pretty decent though... Anybody know why?
Super cool and practical video.
I've been wanting to get my Part 107 and hopefully make a business with drones
Best advice is to not wait. Building clients takes time and the sooner you start the sooner you’ll see results!
Should I consider getting ELRS system setup for Cinewoops?
Lots of unwanted artifacts with the 03's grade for sure. Imo, the 03 just can't hang in comparison as most of us already know. Not that it isn't great or good, I do think it is impressive and if you do t have a gopro, it might do for certain things. Professional work though? I don't think so.
You let the o3 trash its own image with the iso. If you prioritise lower shutter speed over higher iso you will get much better footage here.
But then flying would be at 30fps.
Did you transform the color space of the O3 from d-cinelike to REC709 before color grading?
Yes. The editor.
5.3K 30fps vs 2.7K 100fps 🤔
Bingo - this is why there's such a huge difference... the ISO is much higher and/or shutter is much slower due to increased frame rate on o3, which results in more noise ( high iso) and motion blur (low shutter speed). Surprised he didn't feel comfortable flying at 60fps. Could've decreased noise reduction which can cause ghosting and soft spots/blur too
Awesome vid Josh! Thanks for great info. 👍
@JB thanks for another very informative video. As you say, it appears some other people have achieved better results with the o3. I’ve got one on a Pavo Pico, which I haven’t got round to setting up yet, but I’m hopeful I can get professional-like results with it 😊
Rule #1 for real estate drone shoots - turn off all fans in the house! lol
Any fresh updates on the advice, plus the new O4 stuff from DJI Avata 2?
I know you don’t read these but if the vtx companies were smart like if o4 is as good as I here. Everyone who reviewed the avata 2 never discuss the 04 part. I know it has the same sensor as my dji action camera anyway my point is add a port to the vtx where you can add a second camera then take the small O3 camera and put one on top of the drone. It’s small light and you only need the one vtx on the quad or hell take analog off put the chip to record on the flight controller. So many ways to do this we just don’t.
What's the name of the app you used to get the correct white balance?
IOS. I can reccomend the White balance AI - KEV
Thanks, I only have android devices
@@MatthewTaylor3 Should be some good alternatives available.
If you used a combination that resulted in 60% resulted in the clip frames matching the project frames, 120% would also work well.
what are the best pid/tune for a real estate fly through???
I fly on 60fps with a super low iso and the picture looks much better than how yours turned out
Those battery straps are the same ones that quadmula make.
DJI AVATA IS probably the best for doing a fly through of a house, the only problem is getting the card out to download the video. One of the cures is the master airscrew 3 blade props, it gives some more wriggle room for taking out and putting in the memory card.
The avata has the 03 camera on it though, and the quality as we saw in this video is just not the same
Not true, the camera isn't the same. Uses the same filter mount though.
Can you say something about OprnHD and WFB-ng?
Are you flying with air mode or angle mode on? Did you tweak the quad PID's?
Bardwell flywoo naked go pro is the best!! Can use rear screen!!.
Thanks
Great video, as always!
THE DJI 03 SHOWED ALL THE MOLD THAT WAS PAINTED OVER AND WHY NOT THE DJI AVATA
and was that self leveling mode you were flying in NON ACRO
You just knew all the DJI fan boys wiuld come up with a million excuses, but facts is facts, nobodys saying dji isn't bad, just not as professional as gopro, which lets face it isn't "PRO" either.
Guys which one is better 2.7k 4:3 or 4k 16:9?
Josh awesome video, what rates did you use for this real estate walk through? Was it all base rates or did u change them
I use 533 rates for cinematic flights.
