@@dangerous8333 It really is just an incremental update, they bolted on a new chip to an existing platform to improve it rather than have their OEM creating a new chip design; so other than the goggles going OLED which is far superior to what we had; whats the big deal about 1080p video feed when most of us carry hero 10/11's when we want something usable? There is also the FPVWTF hacks that put so much life into the old system that the O3 stuff should have DJI hanging their heads in absolute shame for abandoning the old system so soon.

Thanks a ton Joshua. You're still the best with giving the right amount of information on a product. That is a big step in HD fpv. And if I have extra money in the future I probably will switch to O3. But for now my V1 goggles are plenty for me. I don't really need extra resolution, normally I zoom out the picture in them because of very big FOV, so that leaves only slightly better signal quality and it is really not enough for me to start changing my gear to new system ).

I did that when I first started flying DJI digital. But, after a while of getting used to something like a 70% or 80% of the full FOV, I have stepped the screen size (FOV) up to 90% now, and I'm soon gonna try 100% again. Try slowly moving that FOV up. It's sure immersive! :)

I have the Avata, and it looks like the same setup. Glad there is a screw mount option, but I think most just double-side tape it to the frame anyway (I like screws TBH...) The fit of the camera up front is definitely going to be an issue, especially if frame manufacturers have to redesign for just 3-4mm of extra width. The quality of the Avata camera is pretty decent, so maybe some will use it instead of a GoPro, to save weight. Great review as always!!!!

Bro, Black Friday is in a few days. I suggest you go out and find yourself a Caddx Vista or Runcam Link (only the cameras are different) and get flying DJI digital RIGHT AWAY! Try to get a 120fps camera...i.e....not a Polar and not a Nebula Nano V2, and not a Link with the Phoenix camera. Those are all 60fps cameras. They have about 10ms of extra latency. Still very flyable, but get a 120fps to see what the potential is.
Go for a Caddx Nebula Pro, Nebula Pro Nano, or a Runcan Link with the Falcon camera. The Wasp camera from Runcam also has 120fps, but no adjustable parameters for saturation, contrast, etc. in the V2 goggles, and it's stuck in 4:3 aspect ratio - So you only get the square 4:3 image (Old CRT TV image size), not an HD rectangular image of 16:9.
The most these RETAIL for is $165.
That's ALL YOU NEED! Not that much to get flying digital!!! 😁 - AND, you'll not want to fly analog much ever again once you fly digital - IT'S SO DAMN GOOD! 😎🤘

Have had the dji fpv a year now. Was not able to really use it much in the past 9 months. Just recently acquired the Avata w goggles 2 a couple of weeks ago and have now had time to put in to them. I'm finding my self chicken shit to go full manual as I really am a noob. I have been on the sim religiously lately to practice and really love the entire concept of fpv. As I prefer the video quality feedback from either dji drones and have no clue how you avid fpvers use blocky noisy analog without getting skull ache, I'm definitely going 03 in a RTF, currently on GetFPV in a 5inch s6. I'm not afraid to crash a custom as these are much easier for me to repair and I already have everything else dji, so this I think makes more sense. As I'm not familiar with part compatibility between all the manufacturers I have chosen to go RTF, but my next custom I will build myself after getting more familiar with components etc.

Awesome vid - thanks! I ordered the O3 right aways when I saw their release mail. It has to be good!
There will be some downsides - but the Vistas were already so good over the last few years - made FPV so much more fun for me.
I'm curious if the onboard footy will be good enough - but it looks like. Also love the fact that I can use my V2 goggles!
Now the hard part: in wich of my many copters or planes will I place this first ;)

I'd take that OLED statement with a massive grain of salt. I tried both of these goggles with Avata and could barely tell any difference. Biggest difference with the goggles 2 and v2 was that the FOV of the goggles 2 is MUCH smaller and they don't get fully focused despite the adjustments.

The part where your signal drops I think you're flying so the intersection of powerlines is right between you and the drone. They form a magnetic field in the air, which is essentially a faraday cage. It's how commercial airliners protect their avionics systems from passenger cellphones, because they're *really* good at killing radiosignals.

@JoshuaBardwell the antennas just pull out of the Goggles 2. Just pull up on them and they come out. Also, the internal antennas are crossed in the center front of the goggles 2. MadsTech has a tear down video of the goggles 2 if you want to see them inside. I can also tell you from experience (I have the avata), it does not play nice with analog on any channel. But I have flown with as many as 4 people on HD using Walksnail, and Caddx systems and using channel 1 is best. But you want to use channel 3 when flying by yourself because it seems it get's more penetration as well as distance.

You already have it in an fpv quad? Or do you have the Avata?
The new goggles aren't much of an improvement over the old ones and in many cases people like the old ones better. Most reviews on RUclips reflect the same sentiment.

@@dangerous8333 It was in a 5” fpv quad, I was just helping build with the new system and got the opportunity to fly them. I think it’s the form factor of the goggles I enjoy the most. They fit my face without any light leak and I didn’t have to modify them. They’re light on the noggin. The IPD adjustment of the goggle got rid of the blurriness I experienced in the v1 &v2 goggles when I had the lens evenly spaced. Usually I had to fly with the lenses all the way to one side to get a clear picture. Although more testing is needed in general. Those were my quick initial thoughts of the new system.

V2 goggles battery pack also 9nly allows voltage passthrough for charging the pack itself with any USB c cable, and also only dishes out power for specific applications. For example using the dji usbc to barrel for goggles only. Any goggle. I can't storage charge them. Dji usbc has a chip I believe that tells the pack to work or not based on a few factors

The only thing I care about and the only reason I may someday get the new system is the extra range and penetration. The 720 video is good enough for me but you can never have too much range or penetration to ensure that you don't lose your quad.

I started this video thinking I would get the Goggles 2 once they're backward compatible, and then probably put the O3 air unit into any new build quads, but the sizing issue and the lack of being able to change the output power is an absolute killer for me. Just the goggles 2 for me then, but, not counted my chickens just yet

Got back into FPV this year after taking a few years hiatus. I was torn between getting new analog goggles or digital goggles. I think I was happy to stick to analog. I think I mostly like the idea of stretching an analog signal as far as possible.
I plan on including digital in my arsenal in the future, and with stuff like the walksnail VRX coming out, it’s gonna be easier than ever.

Some people have mentioned that Goggle2 can fog more easily (Avata flyers). This might be due to smaller air volume near the face, and how much air moves thru the fan. The Goggles V2, (V2) are less prone to fogging in humid, or cool climates.
