    My wife said instead of spending 200bucks on our 7 year old son birthday for a bouncy castle and other crap.. let him choose something he likes from an online store. Now me and my son are getting into FPV and this channel really helpful. Thank you very much. Its gonna cost more than 200 bucks I know.. but quality time with son had no price tag. In case you wondering I'm going to fork out for Liftoff for the training stuff. Not in your video but I have decided to start with Cetus FPV kit. Time to start the training :D

    Get the radiomaster Boxer over the TX16S. TX16S is a great radio and incredibly capable. The boxer is just as capable. Way more comfortable to hold and looks better. Also cheaper price point so its a better entry level radio

      I agree that the boxer is way better than the tx16s. The ELRS is simple to set up, and programming the switches are user-friendly by watching videos on how to set them up. The radio isn't too big or too small. I went from DJI black remote to the Boxer. I still use the Dji Black remote for bnf that you can't get an ELRS receiver onto.

    I know it's been about six months since this video was released, but I'm thrilled to announce that we've taken your feedback to heart. We've overhauled the tutorial in Liftoff, seamlessly integrating it into the game. Additionally, we've introduced Tryp-sized levels and are on the brink of unveiling a revamped track-path visualization, along with numerous other enhancements.
    Lastly, I'd like to mention that the base game of Liftoff has never exceeded €20, so a $30 price tag seems a bit steep.
    Thank you for exploring our simulator and for sharing your invaluable feedback!

      @lugusstudios1328 thanks for the changes, my Son and I just started with FPV and the tutorial is nicely done, but I which the other axis would be locked when doing the straight flying. We are playing with XBox controllers and it is quite difficult already. A slider to lower the sensitivity would probably also help.

    I'll add a little advise for new comers
    Radio selection :
    When selecting a radio it would be great if you can get your hands on the radio you're interested in. As you can see the RM TX16S is one of the most popular radio in fpv but it's a massive radio. Does size matters? Yes, because you need to be able to comfortably hold and use the radio. If you have medium - small hands the tx16s is not a good choice because you'll have problems finding a good grip and reaching the sticks.
    The RM Boxer is smaller and full of features likes the tx16s
    The Jumper T20 is also a great medium sized control that's full of features
    For smaller hands and if you prefer a game pad controller like a PS or Xbox then the RM Zorro is the best choice
    If you're on a budget or just want to try fpv without spending a lot of money then the RM pocket is the best choice.
    Hope that helps!

    Hey I just want to set a few things straight here that were brought to my attention by you guys
    1. Lift off Simulator does now have a really great interactive beginners course that is of equal epicness to that of my personal favourite DRLs. DRL is still half the price so for beginners I think it’s a better route to take, but it’s entirely up to you 🎉
    2. Uncrashed is indeed another simulator to add to the list, I’ve never tested it out as up until a few days ago I didn’t know that it ran on Mac
    3. The iflight Nazgul Evoque will not get 10 minutes of flight time with an 1000mAh battery and a GoPro… Instead, with a fresh 1100mah and very cruisy flying the Nazgul would look at getting 5-6 minutes, add a GoPro to that and we would be looking at 4-5 minutes. I still hold by the best drone ever though, it’s an absolute gem
    Thanks for the help here everyone, can’t wait to see you all around in the community 🎉

    I have to say that velocidrone is a hidden gem for tiny whoop simulation! The tiny whoops is a separate dlc pack, but it has tons of tracks that are fun for tiny whoops!
    Ive never seen another sim that can do tiny whoops like velocidrone. They're always an afterthought.

    Just started with TBS Tango II Pro and Velocidrone. Will probably pick up Liftoff as well. About a week in and the progress comes if you put in the time.
    General agreement across the community, as far as I could find, is that Velocidrone's physics is the closest to reality. As such, it is the best true simulator/learning sand box. The menus let you tune the sensitivity and angle limits and rates down to beginner levels and then ramp them up as you learn in Angle mode, and then move into Rate mode. Also, Velocidrone does extensive tutorials on their youtube channel; not just beginner how to but advanced maneuvers and techniques.

    Had a Nazgul v2 5 with a Gopro 8 and 1500mah pack failsafe at 200 ft. Only 2 arms broke (a 20 dollar fix). It's safe to say if you wish to go for fpv use a good radio link (I switched to expresslrs) and never use frsky beyond 140 ft away. I am considering a digital system. To hold me out I went from an iflight diversity box goggles to a Dominator v3 with a rapid-fire module. Best investment probably ever for analog. Of course, I am not as experienced with this but this setup flew in 15mph wind on the coast!. Something off the shelf (non-racing type) can't due that due to angle limits.
    Needless to say, I enjoy this video. It packs a lot of information into a tight space.

    Super expensive but it gave me a grate experience from the start.
    Right now, a year later im starting to play on the simulator to get skilled at acro mode and I have bought another cheaper whoop that can go with the dji controller and goggles.
    So, I have done it backwards from you.

    From what DRL racers say about the DRL drones they have to use, is that they float like a boat. They are heavy and don't cut corners the same as other drones. Zoe loves it and others had to get used to it. They do have a "street model"

Already looking into learning how to build my first FPV drone though and although it's intimidating as hell because i never built anything in my life, the community is AMAZINGLY supportive. Cheers and happy flying!

      I'm just getting back into it after almost 10 years; back then you HAD to build them yourself and once you have an idea of the flow of power from the battery through the quad it's not so bad. I'd never even owned a soldering iron before I got into it, and was on my fifth build when my Tx throttle went out and I couldn't afford a new one. Here I am, ten years later, and just did my first flight today with the geprc TinyGo rtf that I've had for awhile but was avoiding. The switch that's supposed to be for flight modes seemed to have acro in all three positions and I never got past horizon for fpv; so I spent more time looking for it than flying. Anyhoo, good luck and good flying, may your props not break too often. 😃

    I just got close to *giving up* my years long plan to get into FPV as a hobby and planned expansion into aerial cinematography! 😞 I am a commercial drone pilot, flying for the past 5 years for marketing, real estate, construction and advertising with the Mavic 2 Pro and now M3Pro. However, I always knew that the real piloting skills are to be found with FPV pilots!
    So, a few days ago, I tried the training module with Liftoff, and I got so frustrated, I am rethinking my plan to learn FPV!
    I had no throttle control, I always flew up, when I didn't touch the throttle, it just went up and up. I was never able to fly into my 3rd target field. I suck so bad at it!

    Hi Brodie...first, excellent edit in this video (Very engaging and entertaining). Regarding the Radio Controller, glad your enjoying the RadioMaster TX16S...but when it comes to SIZE, that's why I went with the TBS Tango 2. It fits in my FPV bag with all my other gear. Personally, it just works for me better than the larger controllers and if I'm perfectly honest I was sometimes hitting the larger flip switches on the bigger controllers. The TBS Tango2 doesn't have those flip switches and it just feels better in my hands. Your 100% right that for the type of flying it's seems your doing the iFlight Nazgul Evoque is the way to go (Have that one myself and love it). Beat her up pretty good the other day and just had to replace the props...and she's back in the air. Nice job on the video!

This simulator has a huge potential to be almost perfect simulator over the time...

    Wait. It's 'a thing' that sticks can start twitching after an hour or two?! No wonder the budget RTFs (quads and helos) I've had over the years started developing issues a few packs in and generally became uncontrollable and started consuming repair parts. I just assumed what few skills I had developed were regressing. This is making sense and I would have no good feedback it was happening.

    I have removed the back handle from the controller, and it feels much more compact, tbh. I want to buy a radiomaster's foldable handle with the AG01 gimballs.

    I have the EMAX tiny hawk 2 freestyle beginner kit and I replaced the controller for the beta FPV controller and I fly almost every day for the past year and my gimbals are completely fine are you sure that they weren’t just glitching when you were playing the sim or were they actually glitching when you were flying irl

    • @BrodieReed
      @BrodieReed  Год назад

      That’s epic to hear! I believe they have made some changes to the gimbals since I owned it, but at the time it was truely twitching while flying as well sadly. Enjoy!

    i will agree that the evoque is an amazing drone, but one thing i dont like about it is the sideplates make it kinda anoying to repair the drone because its more stuff to disassemble

    • @BrodieReed
      @BrodieReed  Год назад +2

      That’s fair enough! I’ve swapped the stack entirely in mine and I think that after taking the top plate off the two side plates come out pretty easy. I also love the protection from dirt etc from getting inside!

    • @mtm555
      @mtm555 Год назад

      i compleately get behind that, i just found it to be anoying at times and just more weight for the drone :/ i have now switched to building my own (i can deffo recomend it, it might seem scary but its so fun)

    I fly the Nagul as well but instead of the TX16s I went for the boxer ELRS. Very similar to the TX16 in functionality but smaller. The TX16s is just a monster, and have no need for that. Still a pig to set up though

    Radiomaster pocket. Literally all you need, its got elrs, and its high quality and only 80$. If 40ish km isnt enough range from the 250 mw transmitter you can buy a stronger one that you just plug in the back. No beginner should spend 400$ dollars on a controller thats just stupid.

    I can confirm the remotes at the $50 price point suck. I used the Emax Tinyhawk 3 freestyle kit for less than a month. I used the remote in DRL sim and TrypFPV.
    The left gimbal failed, caused me to crash the drone, eject a battery, and the remaining battery fried the quad. No replacement electronics in stock, unrepairable, waste of $350.
