its better to go straight to acro mode, just use some slow rates and bear in mind, its much more difficult to fly slowly than fast. so dont worry about shaky beginnings, practise big bank turns , then a split s from high up, then try some emergency stops, (good for getting used to very messy visuals and recovering) focus on not letting the quad drift sideways or backwards, EVER!. then when you can do precise bank turns, you'll find you are just flying the camera without much thinking. you are now an fpv pilot.
Absolutely agreed When I first went from beginner mode to pro mode(acro) in drl, it really messes me up, as they works totally different. I would suggest whoever want to learn in drl goes straight into pro mode.
I stumbled upon this channel just a week ago... amazing quality. Slowly getting through all the vids haha. Getting excited to build my first one during summer!!!
Dude did much better than I did starting out. Of course, I thought I could buy a drone and just go out and be able to fly it within a few minutes. It didn't quite workout that way.
I started fpv sim in fpv.skydive and an xbox controller 4 days ago, i did the same stuff with acro mode just as he did, turning everywhere and not understanding what to do, but i watched some tutorials and now i can do basic trick, move through tighter spaces and do some dives. I'm quite incostistent, but i'm happy that i learnt the basics in 4 days.
A valiant effort Brodie.🍺🍺 It took me like 5 packs before it really "CLICKED" in my brain and could fly in acro mode. My 7 year old son on the other hand practiced an hour on the sim and then basically could fly acro right away. He even landed the quad! That made me happy but depressed at the same time, lol. 😆
I needed 3 weeks to be able to pick a tiny whoop on Acro.... wich I destroyed inmediatly. Well done! I think Angle mode is very useful for a beginner, as it lets you concentrate on throttle management. FPV is hard at the beginning, but after a while it's just like riding a bike. BTW when a drone falls into the water it's always better to disconnect its power while it's still underwater. Otherwise the current will inmediately flow through the wet components instead of being dispersed into the river.
it's great that sims work for most people :D i tried it and didn't like it. at all. i just go and fly the real drone and hope that i don't destroy it. that approach worked so far for a tiny 3d heli, different types of planes (i had help with my first flight though, an experienced rc pilot by my side who told me how to do some things, really great) and fpv whoops for me :D
There's nothing wrong with learning in angle mode. When I started flying in acro mode, I'd switch to acro mid flight and switch back to angle if I get in trouble.
Oh man... I can't help but laugh at the first flight with the 5" but I get it. It's a crazy idea to have someone fly within 24 hours of practice, probably more like 5 hours of simulated practice. Good college try though boys.
Wow, I thought we were going to watch a noob during his first phase of flying in the sim for like at least 100 hours. But no, we see him drowning 5 inch quads in a creek. Kudos
I got the hang of acro because of battlefield bad company 2 helicopters. Took me an hour or two to get the full hang of how it controls. I think im a special case though
My gram-gram taught me fpv.. my grandma and i got super close after grampa passed and we got tippsy one night and one thing led to another.... But yeah, she taught me fpv
@BrodieReed I think he is referring to the trainer port and mode on your controller. In trainer mode, you can connect two controllers together using the aux port(top left of your tx16s, I think). In this mode, the coach will be able to take control of the aircraft using a set button which may be helpful in your case to save your evoque🫡 from a bath.
3:13 I don't think that works too well... I get what you are trying to do, but any training wheels you put on there, you just have to unlearn again... Cold water is the way to go... How do I know? I'm a super noob that spent less than an hour on the controls, full manual from the start and I'm doing smooth fast turns already, now I'm bringing in a bit more pitch and throttle while trying to stay closer to the ground... Race gates are still a ways off, but it's barely been an hour! - Cold Water baby!
What's the point of learning it so fast. Only for your video. Hat stuff like that, can't ever turn around and you push him to fly a 5" 🙄 lucky it smashed in the river and not your head. Calling you self a pro in the thumbnail, 5sec into the video he shows a dead cat and calls it freestyle drone 🤣
Um.mmmm you put the drone in the oven? Want to explain that? 😮 i usually just give it an isopropyl alcohol bath and let it air dry. Think the oven would be too hot even on the lowest setting
@@BrodieReed yeah the oven...... uhm.... i've crashed in rivers, rinsed my quad with clean water, shook it and kept on flying. 6 hours in an oven? it would dry on a table if a few hours.
Hey guys I'm Tyron, hit me up for any fpv lessons I'll teach how to be the best
Hahahah heck yeah
Bro I wanna buy my first fpv drone can you tell me which one to buy?
@@Samik-Sahu_official warpquad
Damn i want to learn so badly
Now I can show this to people when I give them my drone
Hahah true!
Yeah... kids keep always asking..if they couls give a try😅
@@timoklap im 12 years old flying 5 inch fpv with 6s bateries not 4 or 5 s
@@Matiss-bz9ix cool, but i het 5-8 y olds asking to fly. Without any experience😅
Only drone Ile let anyone fly that I have is the Avata. One switch away from hover and no need for throttle control.

Did you ever build your first drone?

Great friend to trust him with your drone and being a good sport when it crashed/drown.

Hahah that’s an amazing effort indeed! Wish I could’ve been the same starting out 😅😅
Nice one, he actually did pretty good!
Good on you for having the 2nd drone for the real flight, would have sucked to leave after the river dunk
Yeah I mean it would’ve been kinda funny to leave it at that though too 😂
Man these vids are worthy of so many more views!!
It just seems that the algorithm isn’t putting it out
Great vid as always tho 👍👍
Thanks dude, I’m stoked that they’re being seen regardless ✌️

Just watched the first 70 secs of this and I love it already

I would recommend starting with thumbs insted of a pinch grip since it dosent haft to be perfect and its simplier
Hey Brodie found your channel through this video. Really enjoyed it makes me want to do this with my friends 😅
Epic!! You should haha
Which country are you in? Do you not have any VLOS rules there? Interesting to watch his progress though. Well done both.
well made love the editing
Thanks mate
it was nice meeting you in person with tomas b@@BrodieReed
Dam bro I’m now looking at building my own drone. Yes from Kiwi Quads and iv watched the full build vid already.

The Cardrona river does indeed 😂😂
honestly don't touch a real drone untill u have 10 hours on drl or more, i have over 100 and its pretty much the only reason that i don't crash ever

The Thumbnail was funny, I am curious how one would use this boxed lens with a dji remote ;-)
Hahah nice spotting 😉
Legit every single kid at the park wanting to try my fpv drones. If their gonna crash my avata 2 i gotta be harsh. I still feel bad
Angle and horizon mode make bad habits, start with acro
what was the first whoop he flew?
BetaFPV Meteor75 Pro, just the analog version 🙂
hi brodie i got the nots on its gonna be a banger vd
Let's go 🔔
Any tutorial video on how to install and get started with DRL simulator?
Head over to Steam on your computer 😊 You'll be able to purchase it there and then go through the training modules
You can get simulatiors on ps4 ps5 and xbox as well... just USB your radio and you good
why dont u put an apple air tag before he takes off ?

A good method to prevent crashes is to use trainer mode on the remote. It exists for a reason

it was not 24 hours. It was 23 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds

50 degrees Celsius for about 6 hours is perfect for drying it out, done it a couple times now ✌️

24 hours just to crash in 20s wtf
