      @@CnRSPACE which video are you referring to because I watched his review and I didn't hear him say anything like that, maybe I just missed it. But i mean I can see where someone is coming from when they say something like that because yeah its not going to be able to be super fast and punchy and have crazy fast maneuverability like a traditional fpv drone would have, but the controls are still the same. And I dont know too much either but imo it seems to be a mix of a traditional fpv drone and a cinematic drone, leaning a little bit more to the fpv side. But if you are flying manual mode with the avata 2, the skills will 100% translate to any other fpv drone, within reason ofc.

    That's some skilful drone flighting abilities Nicolas! Once you have mastered the S split, I think what could be a good idea is climbing a high point like a pole with a wide shot, and then instead of going around it and nose diving at the other side like an S split, you actually just reach the top and go for a nose dive whilst looking down at the side you were wide shooting and then pulling out of the nose dive right near the ground. Could be a challenge for your next video as well as a useful manoeuvre if you have a cliff side or just a mountain you want to record.

I have everything from tiny whoops to 5 inch fpv drones as well as the DJI FPV, Avata, Mavics, Neo, etc. The Avata flies well considering what it is, and the only possible mistake would be not going for the Avata 2 if one wishes to have a prebuilt system. Props to you (pun intended) for getting back into the hobby! The Avata is actually a pretty terrible drone to learn on and has a lot of bad behaviors and general DJI weirdness about it. It's actually so bad that the first time I flew one I thought it was broken. The Avata 2 (which I just picked up) so far flies much better (bigger props, less weight, better weight distribution), but still not as well as comparable BNF cinewhoops and nowhere close to any of my open-prop quads. If you can fly the Avata, you can probably fly anything 🤣

    • @NicolasGrant
      @NicolasGrant  6 месяцев назад +1

      HAHA I used to have the Nazgul and it definitely flew a lot nicer. I've started to notice the weird behaviours of the Avata especially when you try to push it at speeds

    • @hell-bentfpv
      @hell-bentfpv 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@NicolasGrant yea handling at speed is not a strong point for that drone. It's pretty decent at being a cinewhoop and flying slow and controlled, but that's about it. Given the shot that you want to get with it, I would practice some dives and get used to the propwash handling, which isn't great. The Avata is considered to be under-powered and given that you will be flying over/near water for that shot, I'd get as comfortable as possible with those specific characteristics...

      @lecolintube 6 месяцев назад +1

      I’m a noob, but I’ve found that sims are really good for teaching muscle memory and teaching you how to use the sticks to get a drone to do what you want.
      Though I’ve found sims aren’t necessarily the best for learning the particular flight characteristics of any given quad (they’re like a rough guid or estimate).
      To actually learn the flight characteristics of a particular drone, I’ve found the only way to get an accurate feel for how a quad flies is: you need to spend time flying the actual drone.
      I suppose my takeaway is; practice practice practice in the sim, it doesn’t really matter what quad you use in it - try a bunch - you’ll grow your muscle memory and reacting to situations, but it won’t necessarily ever feel like an accurate representation of what flying the real quad is actually like.
      Hope that helps

    Hi Nicolas, I’m a new pilot - literally bought my first ever Drone last month - I’ve been practicing with the simulator but I feel like im doing something wrong cause when I try to fly manual for real I can’t control the speed In any kind, literally as I take off the drone goes full speed and I am not able to slow it down without crashing - any suggestions on how to gain more control of the drone?

    you should buy a premade 5 ich fpv freestyle drone. I think it would better fit your needs. btw I love your video

    The "potato" is the DJI FPV drone, not the Avata.

      @@FrazierFPV Well, that’s what it’s called. Some people do like it. Even real FPV pilots. They usually break it quickly. I’ve never flown one.

    "The Potato" should also be called "The Yard Sale". Fly it hard enough and you'll have pieces of it all over your neighborhood.
    Who builds an FPV drone that can't take a few crashes on hard surfaces? The same company that can't wait to sell you a replacement!
    I love DJI stuff, but the "Tater" is just bad.

    FPV drones ARE self stabilising - that is what the controller does. Even in acro aka rate mode they self stabilise - or at least they try to. If you put them into a certain angle they will try nad hold that angle on all 3 axis.
    But Nicholoas is correct - they are not self fliying.
    That shot you want to get is going to be very hard, as you probably won't have line of sight through the cave.
    You need to have radio line of sight pretty much the whole way, so the antenna on your controller needs to be able to see the antennas on the drone opretty much the whole way.
    This is one of the things that is really hard about FPV, managing the radio.
    I think it would take a very experienved or very lucky (or both) FPV pilot to make that shot work.
    Even if you get it so you can fly through the cave, when you turn left on exit the "promontary" the cave is in will probably block your LOS.
    I have not flown DJI FPV/radio link and I understand DJI's links are sposed to have very good penetration, but I even so I suspect that cave section might be challenging.

      Appreciate the comment ! I've started to realise that this will be an issue and I think the only way to pull it off is to be standing inside the cave...even still it might be pretty sketchy
