I still use the sim for practicing new tricks. Once I get the stick movements down I will do it in the field. Not the end all be all but definitely cuts down on my repair costs lol. I use liftoff and the thing that bothers me is the quad physics just don't match
I tried it with a pocket projector that uses R+G+B lasers (it draws the image like CRTs do and doesn't need focusing), plugged into the output of my goggles, flying my Mobula 6 indoors so I couldn't easily break anything. It was difficult at first trying to concentrate on the image on the wall with the actual quad mere feet away in my peripheral vision, but after a while I started getting the hang of it. Will have to try it again one day.
I built out a backpack setup with a USB monitor for a friend a couple months ago. He gets motion sickness really bad with goggles. It’s kinda weird to get used to, but I can see why people prefer it.

Although they are advertised to have 1024 x 768 resolution for FPV, they are 1080p when jacked into your computer. I also customized my Virtual Quad to more closely match my actual Quad which Instantly improved my flying within the Simulator.

well drinking a cold beer or a hot cup of coffee while building a drone. that is just as fun as flying in my opinion. I love building drones. selecting parts online and when they finally arrive put the drone together and then take it out for smooth flying. or a hardcore Ripppp. then maybe change some parts you don't like or improve upon it. when it's perfect, then set off to fly it while waiting for parts to arrive for the next crazy build.
Whoa, I have a battery strap that has this channe's logo and title on it. Have no idea where it came from and have never had anything to do with drones. I'm into the rc crawler world, so I suppose I must have gotten it in a trade or something. Either way, super cool discovery!

This is a good way to show sim translation because he had no fear of killing whoever's drone that was, normally when you see someone doing this they've at least bought their own quad, and building it, at least to me, I really didn't want to crash my 1st one, but I had no sim either.
It's an advertisement for Liftoff, I don't believe he only has 19 hours of liftoff and on his first flight he performs maneuvers in very limited environments, the guy has the gift.
Hey, nice to see Christian, the artist formerly known as Kitch.
There's an OG
Christian did a hell of a job here AND is a likeable dude too ! I'd like to see his journey into FPV, like from the gamers chair all the way to a race @ Rampage 2021 😁
Sim Helped me A Lot !! I got no problem doing spilt s for the first time on 5 inch quad
BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!! @greg womack I agree!! When the quad didn’t magically “return to start point” freaking loved it!! And don’t get me started on the flip in the Dugga dive!!
This is how I have always set up for my friend when him and I fly. He gets motion sick from goggles, so we did the TV aspect and it allowed him to use my quad to fly. It's a great concept to give people options. Though... I will note, I do this same grip... #NoShame.
Sim definitely translate well into real life flying! Going from DCS to Head-Tracked FPV Jet flying is da BOMB!
Hands down, this is my favorite episode of Rotor Riot!
Just getting started in the hobby. I have a tiny hawk 2 and am learning line of sight. Had to order new goggles as I wear glasses. Really enjoyed the vid.
Lol. Posted a pic this morning about going outside instead of sim. Good timing!
6:00 really made me laugh so hard! HAHAHA! He left it there as if he was in a sim! 🤣
He might've thought someone else went to get it or something
Someone's losing the dji sponsorship lol
lol I thought the same, like Sharkbyte already ? xD
Rotor Riot and Fatshark now have the same parent company, makes sense to me.
AFAIK the DJI deal ended a little while back
@@NarWhat that’s what I thought
The rotor riot store needs that pole.
I was thinking the same thing.
Golf ball retrieve pole or mr longarm extension
Love it guys. Got my first tinyhawk2 last year. Now have a 5inch and 2.5inch and in ohio to cold to fly now. So i love using my taranis transmitter on liftoff to practice in the winter. Ready for spring. Great video as always guys.
Much respect man! Drew, you’ve got a new addition to your flight team. I’d love to see a video journal of his progress... even if he sticks to the monitor 😁
I’m a new pilot and just discovered liftoff today... it’s freaking awesome. ✌🏼
Great video! Esp. as a beginner that has no intention of beginning until he watched this video :D
I was very taken with the comparison of flying a drone as a gamer and pilot
legit clinched seeing that quad head at the building
This video was hilarious guys! I'm not a beginner anymore but this was simply entertaining! Great idea!
Damn!!! Christian can rip in the Sim. 🤯
and this wit honly 19hours
@@toom__s I question the 19 hours, but you never know.
I fly fearless on liftoff, I fly semi-fearless with my dji fpv. I wouldn't have bought the dji fpv if I wasn't gonna try some risky shit in manual mode lol, I have the mavic mini and mavic air 2 for safe shots. Probably gonna buy/build some sort of cinewhoop tho for shits and giggles
i loved this!!! well seasoned sim player makes a huge difference
Yes!!!! Another amazing video with exactly what I asked to see. You guys are on a role with content. Next video tips for finding creativity and flow or anything to benefit my lack luster “freestyle” lol.
I still use the sim for practicing new tricks. Once I get the stick movements down I will do it in the field. Not the end all be all but definitely cuts down on my repair costs lol. I use liftoff and the thing that bothers me is the quad physics just don't match
I love how you added the Liftoff music lol.
Look’s fun to fly with a TV setup 😁
jumbotron set up
I tried it with a pocket projector that uses R+G+B lasers (it draws the image like CRTs do and doesn't need focusing), plugged into the output of my goggles, flying my Mobula 6 indoors so I couldn't easily break anything.
It was difficult at first trying to concentrate on the image on the wall with the actual quad mere feet away in my peripheral vision, but after a while I started getting the hang of it. Will have to try it again one day.
I went from liftoff to real quad and it worked great.
This is one of my favorite Rotor Riot episodes :o)
I built out a backpack setup with a USB monitor for a friend a couple months ago. He gets motion sickness really bad with goggles. It’s kinda weird to get used to, but I can see why people prefer it.
thanks going try this iam 64 but i thing i can do this fpv looks like so much fun went to your store an got the sim!! will b watching more of your stuff ..... thanks
nice video.... I also still fly in the sim way more than real-world flying, still scared of busting up my drones. What I like to do is plug my HDO2s into my computer and use them while playing the sim. That helped me get used to wearing my goggles and what to exspect while flying with them on.
Wooah he nailed the powerloop 🤩 Congrats!
Nice approach to get into FPV! Next, associate economic and time losses to crashes. And wisely choose the lab equipment
Great video!Been flying a sim for a while, have wondered how the physics compare, haven't made the leap to actual fpv,but this is encouraging. How about a link to that recovery pole? Thanks
Christian- FPV is just like Navi’s view when she flies in at the beginning of Ocarina of Time 🧚♂️ 🎮
That's the kind of flying you learn from editing some of the best pilots in the world for so many years. Way to rip 🤩👍🏾
I frigging love how well equipped you guys go :D
This is awesome. I have about sixty hours on three sims (forty on liftoff) and keep getting nervous about flying a real drone (building this winter)
Good to know I’ll be fine.
Liftoff is one of the reasons why I bought a set of goggles(Eachine EV300-O) with an HDMI input. I've never played the SIM on my monitor, which BTW sucks compared to my goggles for picture Quality. Although they are advertised to have 1024 x 768 resolution for FPV, they are 1080p when jacked into your computer. I also customized my Virtual Quad to more closely match my actual Quad which Instantly improved my flying within the Simulator.
What we need on the Rotor Riot store is that recovery pole.
I'm spending my time in a sim right now so that when I go into the real world I don't bunkrupt myself. This made me feel better about that decision.
Subscribed finally found a channel and a video will all the info I need. Somewhere I can get a alll in one fpv drone ready to go. This is awesome thank you
well drinking a cold beer or a hot cup of coffee while building a drone. that is just as fun as flying in my opinion.
Appreciate this video...I'm currently spending a lot of time in Lift Off.
I love how not staged that was:
"Oh you want a monitor with it?" - literally pulls out whole PC setup from his trunk
Christian for President!! That was awesome!! My first time my hands were shaking like crazy!! He was like eh.... where’s the “r” button!!
Sim should have a mod where you pay for damaged done in the game. 😀Liability is one of those major factors.
Christian utilizing the classic T-Rex Pinch on that controller.
Awesome video. Gives me hope of being able to learn how to fly from a simulator. Great flying, and awesome job of video edits!! 👊🏻
We’re living on borrowed time in the hobby with full-size quads anyway, so fuck it.
I enjoyed it
What's this extension pole that you used for getting the drone from tree? I love it!
Whoa, I have a battery strap that has this channe's logo and title on it. Have no idea where it came from and have never had anything to do with drones. I'm into the rc crawler world, so I suppose I must have gotten it in a trade or something. Either way, super cool discovery!
Gotta love it when ja boi makes an appearance :D
you editor is so nerdy and I love that
"your gunna need two" at the end, that legit made me laugh....
This is deff something ppl need to see
That was a blast ! Had me cracking up big time !! ;-)
