i remember getting my crestie. the breeder said that she was a super dalmatian, and i was like 'no WAY. that thing barely has any spots!' but we got her anyway because she was dang cute. ten months later, she is absolutely covered in spots! she looks like someone flicked a paintbrush with black paint in it all over her!
Haha! Thanks for mentioning that, hopefully my little Amber gets a few more spots on her. I'm planning to breed her, so I want her to be picture perfect!
Also getting a baby helps them be more friendly to handling. Ive bought both and had problems with adults not wanting to be handled at all. They freak out if you get near them.
Yeah, I've seen people with crested geckos that bite a ton. While my baby still runs away from my hand in the tank a little bit, but I've never been bit. I dunno if that's because its a baby, but it's nice to not have to worry about being bit.
This is true. My baby is super chill and gets handled daily. My friend has a crested gecko that does triathlons if anyone tries to touch her. To be fair, she's getting a little better.
Great advice, not sure how mines gonna turn out but I’m loving the adventure with my first gecko. So far at 3 months old I got a super chill little buddy
I recently bought a baby crested gecko. Looks like a tiger pattern. I was nervous at first because it's so tiny and fragile but getting the hang of it. I would definitely buy another baby.
Be careful to not get addicted to gecko buying. It's easy to get the gecko bug, where you can't resist their cuteness and want to buy new babies, and end up buying too many.
Oh my story, picked up a baby (adopted from petsmart) They claim he was blind after we found him in a 100 degree enclosure. Insisted they take him to vet. 2 weeks later they said vet said he was blinded. Told them I wanted to adopt him, and they said ok. So 3 weeks later i get the call to come get him. He weighed in at 1.3g 6 days later of feeding him Pangea he now weighs 1.8g. They were feeding him only nats. Come to find out he is not blind, he has vision problems, but its a neurological disorder, he has bad balance, and flips out when first handle him each day to feed him, but then calms down, walks straight lines, but still flips head around from time to time. He looks like a flame, pinstripe so cant wait to see how he changes at time goes on.
Usually PetSmart does take them to a vet. I use to take the reptiles and small animals all the time that needed it. The neurology issues hopefully are the worst of what the little one experiences in his life. PetSmart protocol is also supposed to be every night new powder and tiny fruit flies or crickets. I use to make a special blend of freeze dried fruit flies and repashy and the crestys would jump and bite the fingers if it wasn't a fast enough placement of the bowl.
It's sad that places will willing spend so much at the vets instead of just getting educated in the animals they sell :( I have seen this at too many pet stores, they will take the animal to the vet but throwing money at the problem usually doesn't make the animal live the same quality of life from now on and these animals do live a long time.
I'm definitely thinking that the biggest plus is how rewarding it is...We got ours at 3grams and it's growing by leaps and bounds. It's so much fun and feels so good to aid in it's development.
Hey man good advice on getting babies instead if you're not on a high budget I got my crestie from petsmart for 40.00 He's a rescue since his cage was too hot and small at the store But i noticed at a reptile small buisness store down my street has a juvenile red crestie for 150 which is insanely expensive My gecko may be 40 dollars but he's sweet and flares up orange
Pangea has $50 baby geckos + shipping. A reptile store near me has then for $30-70 (baby flames, baby Dalmatian) you just gotta look around and see what’s better
Petsmart and Petco don't usually treat their reptiles well. I'm glad you rescued him, but you probably shouldn't buy a lot from there so you don't seem like you're supporting them.
I think it’s nice to get a baby crested gecko . Not for saving money it’s fun to watch them grow . You still have to get tanks for them as they grow so I’m not sure if it’s a savings unless you happened to have tanks of various sizes to hand. Mines have changed dramatically. I had a brown/ red baby who is now a tiger yellow . The other was very very dark brown who is now a amazing red / almost black brown 😊
I got one at a store sadly th ere are never any crested gecko adoptions available near me and shipping is not really and option.... I love him/her so much his name is Falcon and she is a dalmation
Do crested geckos’ eyes grow? My baby is 19g and her eyes don’t seem anywhere near as big as other people’s cresties. She’s healthy and active otherwise but her small eyes make me sad. I so want her to have the huge bug eyes.
I bred two very light colored Dalmatians and some of the babies came out very dark browns How is that possible I really don’t understand and could use some help
I completely agree.... unless you find that young adult that exactly matches a significant project you are working on/trying to work on. BTW- Great examples of how these geckos change. Wally

My baby crestie is kinda growing slowly, but he acts normal, he is at a nice body weight and he poops normally. He's on the growth and breeding formula and I keep trying to get him started on crickets but he just ignores them and seems very uninterested. I'm a little worried he isn't growing properly because of it... Does anyone have some tips to get them to eat crickets? And can I feed him adult crickets?
I just got my first crested gecko from morph market for $81. Its a adult male with some great contrast in cream/base colour. It was a great deal since the breeder didn't want him in his breeding program. So far I love him but form my experience, my gargoyle have better food response and red gargoiyles look amazing even when fired down. Though nothing can beat crested gecko in variety for sure!
To add to this video on why baby crested geckos definitely have their perks. I bought a baby crested gecko about a week ago and I asked the breeder what morph it was because it was brown and cream. She said extreme harlequin(who fires up bright yellow and black, which I didn't know until two days later.) Turns out his dad is a dalmatian and a week later, my "extreme harlequin" has dalmatian spots. I paid $80 for a baby extreme harlequin and my best friend paid almost $200 for an adult extreme harlequin female. She also paid $140 for a Creamsicle adult female. What we didn't know is that female crested geckos can hold sperm up to a year and that this breeder intermixes her young adults so the Creamsicle suddenly became very expensive yesterday because she laid a clutch. The extreme Harlequin is probably gravid as well because she's super chunky and she's gone off her food. So that's the other risk with buying adults that we didn't know about. And while all this activity is going on, my little guy is hanging upside down by it's tail and licking water droplets off the glass of its recently sprayed cage. So if a gravid gecko isn't something you want, can afford, or have the set up for, babies are a great option. I've never had crested geckos before and until I got Venom, I didn't know that they are usually for experienced keepers. But after yesterday's fiasco and how much stress my friend is under, unless it's a really nice crested gecko, I'll never buy an adult or young adult. Because that's stress, financial and emotional, I won't have to deal with for another two-ish years and then, only if I choose to.
I have a juvenile crested gecko, he is about 13cm long(and about 11months old), and I fed him CGD(Banana cream super foods) every two days so far. I decided to feed him small mealworms(that JUST went through shedding so that they're chitin 'armor' is a bit thinner). He shows big interest upon seeing the worm and eats it within a few minutes. Right now I'm wondering if I should feed small mealworms / CGD in turns, every two days. Is this not recommended? If so, how often and what should I feed my crested gecko? I feel he's small for his age and am worried :(
I have the option to get either a creamsicle for $75 or either a male or female dalmatian, the 2 male dalmatians this guy has look like full pinstripe harley dalmatians and the female is a bit different, phantom pinstripe, dalmatian for sure. The female is from november last year, the 2 boys he has are 2 yrs old. I cant decide. The guy with the dalmatians wants 80 for each, regardless of age or sex. Input? I've really taken a liking to the small female but I'm having a hard time pinpointing anything on her besides the dalmatian spotting. She's light yellow, has grey brindle markings and has them on her legs as well. Her pinstripe is definitely the color of her yellow base. Her mom is a dark gray/cream harley dalmatian with what looks like a broken pinstripe and the dad is also dark gray/cream harley with full pinstripe but no dalmatian spots. The baby is definitely a harley as well and so far she's looking like a phantom pinstripe and she has a good amount of spots, some quite large Any ideas anyone?

Hey, I bought a 5 month old fire crested gecko for 90€. Do you think i still have enough time to tame him before he gets adult? Got him 4 weeks now. And hes eating from my hand already. And when he fires up. Hes bright red-orangeish. Looks dope
Hey great video & very helpful! I just hatched my very first crestie & am a little nervous. I have mourning geckos too & their hatchlings have a very high chance of dying which is why I'm so worried about that happening to my baby crested gecko. Is their chance of dying once hatched just as low as for an adult or is it different? 🙈
I am gonna get a crested gecko the assistant told me he would jump a lot and he was jumping SO MUCH but It’s reserved for now it’s tank is settled though I got it for my BirthDay Gift the crested gecko was also the easiest reptile to look after plus it’s worth buying one (bought one at pets at home
My little jerk cresty was a 5" juvenile and has some serious temper tantrum issues. Also trying to get him to be more active is also an issue I'm having. And I agree the adults are usually insanely priced. The Petco I use I know their workers well and got my yellow dalmatian morph when they had a sale for $38.99 luckily. He's fun till he gets super bitey with everyone and scares away my younger cousin's. For some new keepers any cresty snout to vent around 3" would be a good starter as their not super fragile but they also are over their first shed that usually can be stressful to a baby reptile.
I find that babies tend to mellow out over time in your care as long as everything is cared for properly. However I have some geckos that I bought as young adults that I may never be able to calm down.
Im looking at getting my first crestie in the next few months and I definitely want to get a juvenile. I think it would be good to get the experience from start to finish and learn as much as i can first hand. The babies are so cute too ☺️ sooo itty bitty with big eyed 😂
My now juvenile refused to be handled until he was a juvenile but it all depends on them. But the only drawback of buying a baby is you don’t know the gender. Unless the baby boy shows the hemipenes.
No telling what they will turn into. We picked up a cute little rusty reddish cresty at an expo. they claimed the father was this crazy dark red devilish looking male they happened to have there. We hoped the baby would be dark red like him but nope. not so far. lol almost 2 years later our little guy is a bi color no patterns or stripes buff.... he gets orangish on his sides when he fires up. Very plain, but sweet as can be.
I got a question if you every can get around to it:my Leapord geck is over 1 year old but had really got as big as adult feed daily sheds almost every week only problem is that he\she has deformity
I really wanna ask.. I have a baby cresty and Im a new owner. He is in a small tub, very well ventilated on top. Small food dish and I have pangea and rapashy. Calcium and multi-vitamin have been added to the menu once a week. And Im trying to feed crickets. My baby cresty is so small. As small as the one on your thumb in the video. Im worried he or she is stunted ? I did get my cresty from a Breeder. Atm I left 4 dusted crickets in his tank. Im going to go check on him in 40 minutes. The last time I fed crickets he ate 7 (pinheads), but I fed those by tongs. So I hope he or she will eat them this time... otherwise I may mash them into the pangea food. I got my baby this past October. I believe he was only a few months old... he is currently 3-5 grams. Is my care adequate?
Debating just grabbing autumn. I want all but as I work to save I'm watching each gecko be sold one by one and I for sure don't want her to get away. Was already sad Luna was sold she was my fave. Sorry it's taken so long. But art slots don't sell fast.
My apologies for taking 2 weeks to upload!

@@Sostic of course! I always try my very best to give them all the care & rest they need. Thank you so much for your response!
I'm going to get one soon, and I just want a pet, but I'm afraid to get a baby. I won't enjoy one as a pet if it turns out to be aggressive or flighty
Was Julia an Urban Gecko gecko?
She came from Tiki's Geckos
@@Sostic Nice
My recently purchased creased gecko (baby) looks identical to Lisa and I believe she is a female. Hope she turns out similar to her.
I got a baby harlequin pinstripe dalmation for 45$ from a breeder
I LOVE cb reptile they have cheap prices and very low shipping with beautiful geckos and more!
I got a question if you every can get around to it:my Leapord geck is over 1 year old but had really got as big as adult feed daily sheds almost every week only problem is that he\she has deformity
Wonder what your word is on it
I have a 7 month crested gecko he’s super cute but he’s barely grown nearly shrunk 😂
Same thing here, my 7 monther is now only 5-6 grams
I want to get a baby but my mom doesn't want to keep buying enclosures, so, yeah...
I would say you're doing fine. As long as you see poop you know he's eating. I wouldn't worry about it too much!
@@Sostic Thank you so much for the reply! He has little poops and they look very healthy!
Good, you're on the right track!
Hey bud love the videos I’m really excited on getting into geckos next year keep them coming 🤙❤️

Debating just grabbing autumn. I want all but as I work to save I'm watching each gecko be sold one by one and I for sure don't want her to get away. Was already sad Luna was sold she was my fave. Sorry it's taken so long. But art slots don't sell fast.
It's okay, Autumn is very nice too
(breed and sell...)
