    fair enough with all the points! you're clearly being as unbiased as possible.. bringing to light all the points that are in line with how the products work in your hair. I will say, which you addressed at the end - how I think certain categories deserve more recognition then others. curious to see how your brand battle evolves to showcase this point in the future :) thanks for the battle!

    for my hair, cavalier clay is better than claymation. i dont care about all of those categories. the only things that matter to me are texture (which i would say is pretty much the same thing as finish) and hold. cc's hold is insane, and the texture is beautiful. cc's finish in bluman's hair is very wet looking, which has never happened to me. when i put it in my completely dry hair after blow drying, I get this crazy beachy, texture, kind of like cameron dallas.

    Have used claymation for over a year, it stopped working as well as it used to before. I purchased Blu Maan cavalier clay, and it does wonders! On these Summer NY days my hair is still strong with products from morning to night. Cant have it any better! No hair spray or pre style needed!

    2022 update if anyone is interested:
    Ran cav for about 5 years now. Huge fan of blumaan's work. Great, only issue is sometimes left white stuff in hair (many have said the same) and it was really dry finish.
    Amazon stopped carrying it and needed something tomorrow.
    Got Hanz Clay, and honestly is better.
    - Easier to apply
    - Isn't as dry as cav
    - And no white stuff.
    - You lose .5 oz of product for the same price but I'll take that.
    - Nicer jar makes you feel like you finally grew up.

    I’ve tried both products and the hold for blumaan is wonderful, for hdf I feel that it’s too soft for my hair type and there’s no stiffness to support my hair and it drops and it feels really greasy. Wasn’t a good experience, I would never go to claymation as a everyday product, blumaan for life.

    Robin has fairly thin hair. I have very thick hair, I've found claymation very poor. My hair falla down within 30 minutes, I've found some cheaper clays to work better with my hair. Bizarre. I think hanz de fuko aren't that great, but have very good social media/marketing presence.
    I've also been a proponent of weighting things differently. A hold of a product should not carry the same weight as the way a product looks. Cracking video as always. x

    • @ManForHimself
      @ManForHimself  7 лет назад +8

      Hey, I don't have thin hair. I have fine hair and a lot of it.
      And I agree. Both HDF and the Blumaan company are maters at marketing. They don't cut it against other brands (Lockhart's, Daimon Barber, Arcadian), but they have RUclips klout.

    • @BloodyBen101
      @BloodyBen101 7 лет назад +4

      Robin James Lockharts helped make our pomade & Eric from Arcadian just finished formulating our upcoming light clay. I think we actually get written off sometimes as just a "RUclips" brand that isn't focused on quality.
      The heavy clay isn't designed to work for fine hair like ours, and we marketed it specifically to people with thick hair because we didn't want people having lacklustre experiences with it due to it weighing their hair down.
      That said - always appreciate the reviews Robin and tough critics like you are what make us work harder to get better. Looking forward to showing you what we can do!

    • @ABlexJMP
      @ABlexJMP 7 лет назад +1

      Robin James so on a quality scale, Daimon Barber and the rest are better than Hanz de Fuko and BluMaan? I'm doing a research on which products are regarded as more premium than others so I could make better decisions. For now I just know that By Vilain products have a lot of chemicals, American Crew is just a big name (except their new Heavy Hold Pomade), Baxter of California is a decent brand and Hanz de Fuko is quite on the organic side. Would you consider make a video about that?

    I tried both products. I think that it is important to underline that the first ingredient of the cavalier is parrafinium liquidium in other words a by-product of the oil which is absolutely bad for the health of your hair. I am a fan of none of these both but if i had to choose i would take the claymation by far.

      I'm interested to hear more about this. I would love a brand battle with Hanz/Cavalier VS Lockhart's/other products that Robin feels are in a high category. Because I don't really know the difference without trying.. (which I haven't).
      I suppose Hanz has less hold.. but I hear Cavalier has good hold..
      Might just be in the finish mainly... and reworkability or whatever. It does seem like they are on another level with the finish.
      I'd love to hear any thoughts anyone has on this.

    Robin, I know the Cavalier clay was formulated for guys with normal to thickish hair. I'm just wondering how it is with much more finer hair?

      Hey! It doesn't say that on the packaging. But it seemed to work fine.

    I haven't tried blumaan yet, I was thinking about trying the green lion one, or the Orange Zebra one I like to have super high hold like the hanz de fuko, and the matte finish as well, which one do you suggest I should buy from blumaan?

    Hey Robin! I've been using a medium hold pomade my whole life and I've been scared to use anything else, but now I'm getting tired of it now that my hair is getting longer. What differences am I to expect if I change to a clay? Thanks!

    • @ManForHimself
      @ManForHimself  7 лет назад +1

      A pomade will be more matte and should give you a more natural, looser finish.

    It actually seems that Mike from Modern Man TV and Matt from TDM Style are inspired by your brand battle segment. Love the brand battle segment a lot. Cavalier Clay is so much better than Claymation in my opinion.

    hey robin what is the difference between a fibre , putty and paste!?

    • @ManForHimself
      @ManForHimself  7 лет назад +1

      There's not a huge difference, but you'll see it in the consistency. Putty is more spongy. Fibre is fibrous and paste is thicker.

      Robin James which would u say tend to have the higher hold of those 3

  • @crypticx1019
    @crypticx1019 6 лет назад

    Blumann has greater hold because you must use a pre styler (preferably original by Blumann)

    Wow never thought that blumaan and claymation will end being draw cuz well blumaan said that the product is under development for about 1 year and there are many tweaking and suggestion from fan. I mean claymation is have been around from 2011 and doesnt receive major change in term of formula but blumaan is new product and really ,i expected that blumaan will have slight advantage in term of fixing the clyamation. It little disappointed for me . Btw Great job robin for doing this anticipated brand battle

    Hey Robin, unrelated to this video but I tried that L'oreal moisturiser you recommended in your top 3 moisturisers vid - it's way less greasy/shiny, AND it smells so good it's hard not to randomly tell people "SMELL MY FACE". So thanks for that!

    Hey Robin! Great video as usual!
    What do you think about blumaan advertising cavalier clay as a product for people with thick hair? Does it seem to be too heavy for you?

    • @ManForHimself
      @ManForHimself  7 лет назад

      Hey! I hadn't seen that. Just got sent it and it doesn't say on the packaging.

    • @MrInfinity4Life
      @MrInfinity4Life 7 лет назад

      Robin James it says that on the product page on their website.
      blumaan.com/products/cavalier-clay
      From the video I understand it worked well for you, so it also can work for people with finer hair?

    • @Axuled

      The 'issue' with these brand battles since these are both clays, is that it doesn't apply for the peepz with thick hair. Clays are kind of made for thicker hair. Claymation is known for lacking hold and volume when used in thicker hair, compared to other clays. It was my first even clay and I've never gone back because there's way better clay's on the market. Cavalier Clay is the better one for sure if you have thick(er) hair.
