    Hey all, it was brought to my attention that the "Product Punch-out" name was already used by Mike over at Modern Man TV. I have extended my apologies to Mike for using the same title, which was completely unintentional and just an oversight on my part. I am a fan of Mike's channel and I certainly did not mean to steal content or anything of the sort. I've updated the thumbnail and title for this video to "Hair Compare" - and this will be the title for future episodes of this series. Thank you all for your understanding.

    Can you compare the Cavalier Clay with the Baxter of California Clay Pomade?

  • @carolinojed

    Cavalier has more oils so that fits your dry hair
    My hair naturally gets oily quick so the dry claymation may work best for me

    thanks matt, well done. for me, application is huge - time is takes to get the product in, styled and done. and even - which you touched upon - application ease. Claymation has less pull than blumaan or baxter which i like about it but the hold isn't equal to either. meanwhile, hate the pull of baxter - feels like its pulling my hair out! so not workable enough; actually uncomfortable to use. 'time and ease of application' is right up there for me with 'hold'. appreciate the video!

    I am glad that you favored Cavalier Clay at the end of this video. Cavalier Clay has more a matte textured look and meanwhile claymation has more of a semi matte look. The hold on Cavalier Clay lasts way longer on my straight thick hair than Claymation. With claymation I would have to use hairspray to lock my hair in place. This is why I love Cavalier clay better than Claymation. Also this is also one of my favorite videos from yours Matt.

      Best things to do are avoid shampooing every day (better to do 3-4 times per week), make sure when you do shampoo, you use a sulfate-free one, and try using some nourishing styling products that include natural oils to keep your hair moisturized :) If you need help with anything specific, let me know!

    Thanks for the comparison, Matt. I hope you can answer two questions that I have. In your original Cavalier Clay video, you said that the scent dissipates quickly. Has your opinion changed since then? Another reviewer said that the scent lingers all day. I prefer unscented products and I would hope that Cavalier would become unnoticeable within an hour or so of applying it. Secondly, do you have any opinion on which of the two is better at creating a more "piecey" type of texture? Thanks again!

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  7 лет назад +1

      GaijinMo Thanks! Personally I don't find that Cavalier's scent lingers, no. If someone else were to stick their nose into my hair halfway through the day, they would probably still be able to smell it, but it's not something that I myself can smell after a few minutes. Some products smell so strong that you get whiffs now and then, but I don't find that to be the case with Cavalier. And yes, I definitely think it can create more texture and a piece-y look if desired. Hope this helps :)

    @ipodceiling 7 лет назад

    hey matt i dunno what you think of this but maybe you could weight some of the categories, e.g. packaging is probably less important, and more subjective than hold/longevity/reworkability (scent is similarly subjective) to give a final score more reflective of how much 'better' one product is than another?
    It's not something I've seen much on other channels and it might help differentiate this series from similar ones. On the other hand it's a bit more work and makes it less obvious, but I'm not sure what the better way to quantify a comparison like this is other than points-based

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  7 лет назад

      You're definitely right, and Robin actually mentioned this same thing in his recent Brand Battle of these two products. I'm definitely trying to come up with a better ranking system for future Hair Compare videos. I just hope people don't think I'm stealing all of Robin's ideas lol 😂😅😭

    Hey! I have thick and short hair and I use claymation which tbh I do like it a lot, but I do agree with you that sometimes through out the day it looses its hold a little. So I plan on buying this now, so is there a better feel with the hold than cavalier clay?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  7 лет назад

      +Mike Capalungan For me I definitely find a lot better and longer lasting hold with Cavalier. I think it will work great for you!

  • @TheShakz10
    @TheShakz10 7 лет назад

    How good will the Cavalier be for thin hair? I know it's designed for thick+wavey hair but does that mean it'll just be okay for thin hair or like awful? I've been using Claymation for almost 2 years now and although it's decent the hold isn't that great and it gives off an unwanted shine. Any feedback would be appreciated!

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  7 лет назад +1

      TheShakz10 I think it would still work well for thin hair as far as hold and finish. Just be careful not to use too much, because of all the texture it might create a bit too much separation. However it should also be a bit plumping for your hair because of the bentonite. Hope this helps!

      Something that offsets that.. is having 10 categories instead of 5. That way the packaging is only 1 point and doesn't affect too much since there's so many points in other areas to come. Robin was thinking for season 3 to make some points less important.. but just adding more categories seems better and more simple. Also more info.. even though all those 10 categories are usually mentioned in his videos, making them actual categories on their own is good. Then you're sure to not forget to mention certain things.

      @TDMStyle  7 лет назад +1

      Osama Khalid I know the feeling. It really sucks when you spend a lot on a product and it ends up not working for you (I have several of those in my cabinet lol). I hope the Cavalier works for you!

  • @fortythirty
    @fortythirty 7 лет назад

    I found claymation to be really oily on my hair. Is cavalier the same? Also, is application hard with cavalier? I currently have quicksand, and it's a hassle to apply it onto my hair and style since it's so sticky and rough.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  7 лет назад +1

      +Jared Cavalier will definitely apply much more easily and smoothly than Quicksand. The diatomaceous earth in Quicksand makes it super drying and gritty. Cavalier is a more traditional clay, and very easy to apply. However if you found Claymation to be oily for you, you might have the same issue with this. It doesn't get oily for me unless I use too much, but I have a coarser hair type that needs the extra smoothing from the natural oils in it. Hope this helps!

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 лет назад

      Krizvel 2700 Cav lasts longer than HdF for me but it gets oily af by the end of the day. Over both of these I’d recommend something else like Clutch clay or Stickmore Clay Fiber if you want a hold that will last all day and not get greasy.

    • @user-sy5rr2gs4r
      @user-sy5rr2gs4r 6 лет назад

      TDM Style ie the cav holds all day but the hair seems fat and wet eh?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 лет назад

      The texture is good but by the end of the day the volume drops out and it feels really oily for me. Claymation on the other hand seems to evaporate a little bit. If you watch my Clay Killer video comparing both to Clutch you can see a better idea of each one throughout the day.

      +Opeezy Just because one product won over the other doesn't mean I'm biased lol. Like you said, Claymation is a fine product. It just so happens that Cavalier works a lot better for my personal hair type, so it won most of the categories. Doesn't mean that Claymation wouldn't beat out other clays that I've used (which it does).
