- The Fine hair alternative to Claymation? In this video we put Quicksand to the test to see if it lives up to the reputation of Hanz de Fuko's flagship product.
We have look at the packaging, scent, consistency, application, hold, finish, styleability and price point.
At the end of the video I give my verdict as to whether this product is worth the money.

Ah thanks so much my man! Appreciate the love and support
Strand and Thread yea man
I use paul mitchell hardwired for a messy faux hawk i love the product but it always looks better the next day giving it a dry natural spiked look. Would you reccomend this for that type of dry but spike look?
How come sometimes i see this product in videos it's green, other times it's white? My own tub is also green
Hey great vid, keep it up, how easy was it to order hanz de fuko products from their website and get it shipped to South Africa? Was there any import costs? What price in Rands are we looking at?
hey man appreciate the positive feedback. I actually bought it while I was in the UK ey. Shipping anywhere around the world to us is quite pricey. Best to get a friend to bring products back if they go overseas
Hi Strand and Thread, I am Kei! Your review is great! Make me want to buy this Hanz De Fuko Quicksand. Btw, I’m doing some market research on the influencer industry, would you mind if I ask you a couple of questions?
My head does not look like a sodding tic tac
i ordered one jar of quicksand and i noticed that it's yellow whereas it should be grey. is this a problem? i might ask for a refund
I've been wondering about this too lol
Did you end up getting the refund?
My quicksand turned green too I thought there was something wrong with it guess not lol
Hey so I heard from the guys at HDF that apparently it's an ingredient in the formulation that are some time changes the colour to green.
It's not for a pre styler, it says apply to dry hair and it's on asos for 16£
Chemistry Mashen hey thanks for commenting. you don't always have to follow what the jar says ;) many peeps use it as a prestyler as it creates good volume
Does quicksand dry my hair? is it suitable for everyday using? Thanks for respond :)
Metodej Cerny if you already have dry hair, then I wouldn't recommend it. personally I wouldn't use it everyday. better for 2nd, 3rd day hair styling
Strand and Thread what if I am using argan oil and leave in conditioners. Does it help?
Metodej Cerny I've never tried doing that as I don't have dry hair. I'm not sure why you only want to use quicksand, however argan oil does aid dryness. Check out my 'Maintaining healthy hair' video. I show how to use it there :)
Strand and Thread basically I am using quicksand for its lightweight and volume. How can I replece it with product with every day usage? Sorry for my bad English:(
I have thin and wavy hair by the way.
Which one is more worth the money moris motley or hdf quicksand?
Kevin Karnoto morris motley is more expensive however you get 3.52oz of product as opposed to 2oz which is what you get with HDF
Well i might be get the moris motley than , i tried claymation and didnt suit me well what product you recommend for people with fine and straight hair? Im looking for daimon barber no 4 , or moris motley chrome or styling balm but cant decide which one to pick
Ah and i forget to mention that your review is dope man keep doing that , i loved it
Thanks for watching man :) Glad you enjoyed it. Both daimon barber and MM are great products. DB is cheaper but serves a slightly different purpose. Its more of a post styler. I have reviewed both products on my channel so if you'd like to find out more, just have a scroll down my videos :)
Hmm i think i might purchase mm because the uniqueness and the scent that you said is very nice and pleasinghaha thanks man for your quick comment
Will claymation be bad for fine hair?
Pyrexx I haven't personally tried it. the general consensus is that it's too heavy for fine hair although some people said it has worked. I'm not sure if that's helped, but if you look on my channel I have made videos about other products that work well in fine hair too
Ok thank you😃
Hi! for fine hair, would u reccomend hybrid clay by blumaan or quicksand by hans de fuko? which one is better?
ah I would say Hybrid is a better version of Quicksand, There are quite a few similarities but what I prefer about Hybrid is that the smell isnt as bad (although not great) and that it doesnt give as gritty as a finish
Strand and Thread i see! i have another question. overall, which product do u think is the best for thin hair? :)
oooohh to tough to say ey! Need to try more, but I will be making a video about my favourite products for fine hair. Got some good ones! Also check out my review on Hybrid if you have the time to get more of an understanding of the product and how it might perform in your hair
Strand and Thread oh alright thanks, hope to see the video soon :)
Mine turned green too
yeah they finally came out with the answer that it's due to one of the natural ingredients aging but has no affect on performance
I have medium long hair that is considered fine or thin, have been struggling to find a product that is matte and will not weigh down my hair after a little while. Would you recommend getting something like claymation or quicksand?
if those two are your only options - then go with Quicksand. However there are lots of other products one can try that work. Currently I'm using Morris Motley, Blumaan Styling Meraki, Odouds Matte Paste, Mister Pomp Beeswax paste and a few others as prestylers. Where you based?
I am in the US. I just got Layright cement clay and it seems to do the trick. Just been hearing so much about claymation and quicksand I thought I should give them a try. Morris motley really seems like it would work for me however the 40$ price point is a bit much.
Yeah it is very pricey - I havent reviewed Odouds Matte paste on my channel but I have been using it a lot lately and it's very similar to Morris Motley but far more affordable
I have fine hair. Is claymation the right product for me?
nah bro from what I've heard Claymation is too heavy and oily for guys with Fine hair - but having said that I have heard cases where it has worked.
Scheme Cream
I dont think waiting will work. Quicksand and hanz products always have the highest price
Jet lag hey waiting for??
