He is one of the top 3 male vocalists in history. Another in the top 3 is John Farnham of Australia. Listen to his version of Help, Angels, Burn for You and You're the Voice
I saw him do the song live here in Chicago... and bought the record in high school !! Most talented vocalist ever and with NO electronic baloney to make him 'sound better' !! Thanx for posting this !!
His beautiful sound was known in the 60's as "blue-eyed soul". His voice draws out emotions now, almost 60 years later, as much as it did then. Your reaction is priceless!!!
Bobby Hatfield's recording of "Unchained Melody" was a big hit in the "60s. In the 1990 movie "Ghost", his recording was used as the background music for a love scene (naturally). The audiences loved it and the song was once again a hit. Same song, same artist, recorded more than 20 years earlier, and and a big hit all over again! If you want to hear him singing with his Righteous Brothers partner, Bill Medley, try "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", which is ranked as radio's most requested and played song of the 20th century.
The Righteous Brothers were 25 at this time. Live performance. No second takes. No auto tunes and his parents were in the audience. Bobby passed away in 2003. Bill Medley is still living. Many artists have recorded this song but NOBODY does it like Bobby. Check out their "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "Ebb Tide" and "Sour and Inspiration".
Very few people know that this song is about a man in prison who is about to be released (i.e. unchained). He hopes when he gets home that his woman is still waiting for him, still wants him and still loves him like he still loves her.
Filmed "Live" for "The Andy Williams Show'. This was like 1st year the NBC network was "all colour" They wanted very much to present a "bright" view, so they put handsome singer with great voice in a beautiful suit and made a piece of television history.
The fact that she is ignoring only the comments which mention the concept of being a gentleman, tells me that she is not a quality lady, young or otherwise.
If you like Bobby listen to some more of his music with his partner bill medley who sing soul and inspiration and you've lost that loving feeling. They are two more great songs.
As someone who's 68 years old , I've loved music from many genres, probably beginning with The Beatles. I have to say that I listened to this song hundreds of times, and it's one of the 2 or 3 most beautiful songs I've ever heard .
This has been considered by many in the music industry as the greatest (Live) television performance by an orchestra and a singer ever. Performed live on stage 59 years ago on the Andy Williams Television Show in 1965. The late great Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers gave a performance that was one for the ages. This live performance has become the quintessential version of "Unchained Melody" of them all. Ever since this performance in 1965. Every orchestra and singer have used this version. It has become the standard by which every artist and orchestra is measured. The song was written for the 1955 Prison Movie "Unchained." It was composed by multi award winning composer Alex North with Lyrics by Hy Zaret. The rest as they say is history.
Bobby Hatfield sang this in 1965 during the Vietnam War. Can you imagine being a couple and separated because the partner is fighting in Vietnam and hearing this song.
This is Bobby's song. No one has ever done it better and never will. So great for a live performance. His Mom was in the audience and he wanted this perfect. Which it was. He was also coming off a head cold.
Breaking my heart here! Find yourself that real man, you’ll see him regularly in line for Confession (Reconciliation), love and devotion are real - we are made for it.
To hear both 'brothers' check out their version of the Rogers and Hammerstein classic You'll Never Walk Alone. Bill Medley adds a fantastic baritone voice!
Bobby has the flue, singing live, his mother was in the audience. He was 25 at the time. No autotune, no computer and other stuff. Pure voice, pure artists. The golden 60s. Times and music never to be forget. Much better than the junk from today! Greetings from Belgium.
the singer, Bobby Hatfield is one half of the duo and Bill Medley is other singer with a deeper voice. there is a longer version of this clip where Andy Williams interviews them both and it's funny. Bobby's mom was in the audience and he wnated to nail a great performance for her, and they fortunately have on tape forevever. Bobby died in fall 2003 at age 63 from a heart attack, only an hour from my house in Michigan. They were on tour, about to sing in Kalamazoo MI, they found Bobby gone in his hotel room. Sad. In the 1960's they were heartthrobs of the girls who would scream for them just like the Beatles. I see you too, have melted in your chair lol
Lovely reaction! When you get a chance you should listen to the two Righteous Brothers sing You Lost That Loving Feeling togethr. I think you will enjoy it. Thank you for sharing this one. 🙂
FYI your watching what was very new at the time, MULTI CAMERA (3-three) shot's / views, STATE of the art thanks to the American Television series "I Love Lucy," the husband & Cuban band leader Desi Arnaz is the one who pioneered this. Also, if I'm not mistaken this was done with his mother in the crowd for the first time seeing her son (first time) sing live. What a proud mommy.
Thank you for the information! That really adds to the beauty of this performance. And another important influence involving Lucille Ball, including "Star Trek" and others.
Everything you said about Bobby Hatfield was correct and you also were right when you said they don't make guys like him or the other Righteous brother, Bill Medley. It was cute when you said you wanted to hug him right off the start of the video and I liked that you commented while the song was playing instead of interrupting it all the time like some others do in these reaction videos. 🥰😎
Lovely warm reactions. I am so pleased to subscribe to your channel today. Well done. Wasn’t Bobby a beautiful sweet and talented man? His singing partner is still alive.
This song is from a 1955 movie Unchained Melody. This verse has become the gold standard from 1965. It was also featured on the movie Ghost. This is called blue eyed soul or panty dropper music.
The 1955 movie was titled, simply, "Unchained." It was a prison movie. The main character sings this song, asking his main squeeze if she still wants him after his prison term is over or ... has she changed her mind about him after their time apart?
Hard to believe from watching this that Bobby threw up before these performances from stage fright. Sadly Bobby died & cocaine was a contributing factor but he always managed to pull himself together to perform for us
Iconic Live Performance by an extremely talented singer with a remarkable range. I hope you will listen to other Righteous Brothers songs because Bobby Hatfield had a great partner in Bill Medley - who has a beautiful deep soulful voice - consider listening to You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling so you can see them perform together. Boomers like me know the Righteous Brothers but I think many / most folks in the US do not know their many wonderful songs and their soulful voices - Blue Eyed Soul
Imagine these lyrics being sung by a man in prison to his wife or girlfriend, hoping that she will wait for him. This song came from a 1955 prison movie called "Unchained". Great reaction.
I can never decide between this song and Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water". I always think they are similar in terms of emotion and quality
I've watched that same smile on women; faces for 50 years now. My wife and I danced to this song for our wedding, and we danced to it again recently at our 50th wedding anniversary party. NO matter how much tome passes this is and always will be a classic. And bear in mind this was do 25 years before auto-tune or any other electronic trickery. Back then you could either sing or you couldn't.
Loved your reaction lol
So bring it on back 🎶🥰

Such a sweet reaction.
Thank you
Nothing like this today ! and live !
I like that you say;
"Guys take note.".
"He is a real true man."
I think that you are a real true woman.
Sally forth and carry on smartly, my lovely.
He said that his Mother was in the audience the night when this was recorded.
Met Bobby at a Righteous Brothers concert in the mid 80's. They still sounded great. And he was a very nice guy.
I think this was when he was on the Andy Williams show...he was not feeling well but went on anyway because he knew his mother was in the audience.
A real gentleman is the correct analysis.
Beautiful voice . Beautiful Song. Love it❤❤
This is an amazing song and I think the best live performance ever and you will never beat the 60s for music and never will ❤
he was so nervous because his mother was in the audience

I grew up with the best singers... PERIOD.

You are so cute. Thank you for your sweet and honest reaction.

I am 81 years young and this is the musics that I grew up listening too! The best generation ever!!
Brilliant use of Rehearsal-Tune. Just sing a lot and get good. It was more reliable than a machine.
Awesome video.
Yup, Bobby's still melting hearts.
From the era when talent mattered and nothing else. I'm really old and this has extreme meaning for me.
I love your heart, perfect reaction. You affected me as much as the song. Thanks!
He had a cold that night.....
Eso era cuando la musica era realmente musica que se podia escuchar, no la porqueria de ahora.
Just a Man -- a Microphone -- and his Talent.....

Miss Maria, You're truly one beautiful lady, with an old soul

Hi lady, it is a beautiful and iconic song. Always worth listening to. In my own musical journey I am finding difficult to sing.

Awesome!

The fact that she is ignoring only the comments which mention the concept of being a gentleman, tells me that she is not a quality lady, young or otherwise.
You said you want to kiss him. I don't think you were kidding. Most women fall for Bobby. He's been casting that spell for decades.
The girls are all safe with Bobby.
@@fredwallin815 For at least 2 reasons

Sweet, tender, outstanding counter tenor. The finest solo out there in the last 60+ years.
You will really love You’re My Soul and my Hearts Inspiration by the Righteous Brothers
