I can only imagine the amount of pain he was in, physically, emotionally and mentally but he preformed his heart, like, no pun intended, it was his last night on earth. The movie definitely gave me more depth to how tragic and mislead Elvis life was.

Isn't that something? Testament to pure unadulterated talent from a gorgeous man who absolutely loved music and conveyed that in all he did. I saw Elvis last night early screening, all i can say it was beautifully done. Elvis was before my time but I grew up listening to him. To see the man behind the cape, how tear jerking it. Yet to know how a simple family man he is that family came first. Clapping, loud cheers and folks giving standing ovation inside the theater. Austin Butler did an amazing job. Unfortunately I feel like his performance was wasted by Bax Luhrmans egocentric self centered styling directing. Would’ve been much better if he focused more on Elvis and less on Parker. Elvis led such an interesting life, and they left a lot of it out. Instead of telling the story of a remarkable man’s life Luhrman was more interested in putting his own pizazz and interpretations into the film. Under a different direction this film could’ve been an all time classic.

@@MJsap13 Excellent assessment, Mr. Sapelli. I could not have worded it better myself. I agree with you that the focus should been more on Elvis and not the narcissistic self-serving huckster that was the 'Colonel.' I believe that without the stifling confounds of Parker, the raw talent and charisma of Elvis would have made an even more profound mark on American history; realizing his fullest potential and living well beyond his premature demise.

Imagine being the lucky recipient of the very last silk scarf that Elvis gave in his last live performance. Man, what a treasured keepsake that would be. Seeing him in that physical state less than two months before his death is sad, very sad. The voice till the very end was still powerful and moving. If only he could have changed just a few lifestyle habits, he could still have been with us today or at the very least lived a lot longer and ultimately retired when he wanted and been happy in retirement until his death much beyond his 42 years of age. Taken from us way too soon. Bless him. RIP.

I saw him in concert the day before this was taped in Kansas City. On Sunday I spent the day at our downtown airport waiting for him to arrive. (I tell everyone this but say I babysit his plane) My daughter and her friend were with me. We stood at the back of the limo as he got out. He turned and looked at our way and smiled. I promised my daughter and her friend I’d take them to see him the next Time he was in KC. As we all know that would never happen. But at least we have that Wonderful memory of him. I saw him 3 times in concert. My Mom sent me a sympathy card. When he passed away. I’ve Loved him since I was 11 and still do. I’m 77 now. I’ve been to Graceland several times. The movie was amazing; it's outward in cultural approach helped distinguish the movie from earlier movies on his life which can get redundant. He was the King of Rock and Roll, and always will be. I grew up in that era, those days are gone forever young lady.
You look young, you sure did miss a lot. I would not change the era I grew up and lived for anything thing in the world.
I wasn't Prom King, or a football player, so I never fit in with the snobs, but I had music.
Music was a comfort, and Elvis, The Beatles and everything that came after them was gold.
All of my heros are dying, it is very sad.

As a teenager, at this very time in Elvis's life, I observed his heartbreaking decline. Health issues were ignored and, or not addressed from the very people he loved and trusted. Just perform Elvis. Your fans only wanted you to be well . First and formost, to appreciate your God given talent that will continue to touch us all.

I’m 25 and wasn’t even a thought during this era. I was born exactly 20 years after his death. He changed music. I can only imagine what it was like to experience his music during that era, and while it was being created. His music gives me chills, and makes me so emotional. It's sad when a child loses his hero. Not the same like losing a loved family member, but feels almost like losing a close friend. I was a grown man when Chester from Linkin Park died, but he was my favorite singer when I was a teenager and I still drop a tear from time to time, when watch music videos of Linkin Park. He sang mostly about his inner pain and trauma...can't hear my hero of my teenage days without hearing him telling everyone how miserable he felt all the time. So, I guess I feel you.
