Lyrics:
Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
For in Dixieland, I was born
Early Lord one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
So hush little baby
Don't you cry
You know your daddy's bound to die
But all my trials Lord, will soon be over
Glory, glory, hallelujah
His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on

Anyone else feel like they are going to cry every time they hear this?
It is because it hits you with the love of the South and America, something that people hold dear. It also honors God.
Amen brother.

Everyday.
To quote someone else, God was showing off when he made Elvis.
This is only a theory, but I think this was probably the highlight of Elvis’s career, getting to sing Glory Glory Hallelujah in front of 1.5 billion viewers.
Yes, absolutely correct. ELVIS gave Testimony of his faith in God - wonderful to see this performance! He walked with his maker. One day we will meet on the golden shore like he sings. Thank you for your love towards us! We love you always!
My mom loved Elvis and this song. She passed away on January 27, 2024. Every time I listen to this song I get chills and cry. I miss her so much but I know she is in Heaven listening to this song being played by God’s angels.
👍❤
I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom passed on February 6, 2024 and we played this song at her funeral because it was her favorite song.
When my momma passed, she loved Elvis , we had a pic of Elvis and played some of his songs, amazing Grace being one of them 💔💔 sure do miss my momma and Elvis, nobody will ever come close to his ability to sing ,, 💔💔
So sorry you lost loved ones who loved Elvis. May they and Elvis rest in peace
❤❤
I lived 15 minutes from Graceland, as a kid. Visited Graceland more than 10 times before he died.(at that time the gates were open on Sunday's and you could walk up to the front of the house on the driveway). I remember my Mom and I were going somewhere on Elvis Presley Boulevard the day of the viewing of his body, and to this day I have never seen so many people in one place. It was unbelievable and sad. Something I'll never forget.
I am thr same age as Lisa Marie. We eere born 5 days apart in the same hospital. I was 9 when Elvis past away and it was hard for me. I had never dealt with death in my life and I loved Elvis. Still do to this day. I've been a student of him many, many, years.
People today don't really understand the impact and love that he brought to people all over the world. There will never be another Elvis!
No one will ever replace Elvis Presley, the king for eternity.
Jesus is the king orf eternity ,Elvis is an entertainer
❤ always El rest in peace and thanks for the memories!
I agree
Thankfully 🤮🤮🤮🤮
DRUGS KILLED HIM…..
If you don’t get chills listening to this, you are not alive….
My mother and father flew to this concert with their best friends when I was only 9. When he sang this song, my mom's friend Ginny actually got so moved and emotional, she passed out! My dad and his friend had to grab her and hold her up. People were crying and fainting from the high emotion. My mother is now 80 and she still talks about this concert to this day. When Ginny died 4 years ago, they played this song as you walked into the church and they had a photo of Elvis along with other photos telling her life story, on a table with candles. I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it. God was only able to make one Elvis and will never be able to replicate that talent and presence again.
Oh my gosh! Your entire comment bears weight from above! ♥️
I can only imagine.. what an experience!

It's as close as anyone in this mortal coil will ever get to seeing the face of God.
Laurel I can vouch for the tears & high emotion as I was privledged to be there also that nite as an 18 yr. Old. I too did see some Women hysterical & passing out ( maybe one was Ginny 🤔 ) When Elvis sang Triology even Big Burly Hawaiian guys were reduced to tears such was the KING's moving, emotional & powerful delivery. It was a surreal experience. Apart from getting married & having children, that nite was the highlight of my life.
I remember it like yesterday ( especially American Trilogy ... the MOTHER of all live performances )
The ULTIMATE concert sung by the ULTIMATE performer.
Appreciate your beautiful story as I can relate to it. All the best to your Mum also. Would be great to have a chat to her about that incredible groundbreaking nite.
ELVIS TCB ☇FOREVER
Who's listening to this in 2024 ?
That sound, that charisma, that voice... I'd have given anything to see it with my own eyes.
American master works, I saw him in1967. Terry kenney😊's
I wish i could have seen him i was only 17 when he died🏴
Unfortunately he never came to the UK would have loved to have seen him.
His voice is magical , always was
Oh that magical voice, I'm so happy I was a girl of the 50's and even tho I never saw him in person, I would wait in line with my friends to see his movies and have friends over to watch him on television, he will live forever thru his❤ music
What is amazing about this minute in time-Elvis is singing this song to God with 1.5 billion people watching. What a powerful message to a creator. You can tell that there was tears.
If this doesn't give you goosebumps you must have a heart of stone.
That or the listener just has no sense of great music and art
AND makes me cry every time.
This was playing in the memorabilia room at Graceland when I was there... Hairs on my body were upright.. Was the weirdest feeling. Its an amazing place to visit
Or a wooden heart
He could just be talking not even singing and still give me goosebumps he just had a unique voice
This is not just a show, a performance, he was worshiping God, expressing his faith with all his heart, all his voice, all his talent, he delivered everything he could in this song. Elvis maybe was in dark places emotionally sometimes, but he had a heart for God and music, nobody can doubt that.

You know why Elvis Presley is the King of Entertainment ?
Because he had 3 in one
The looks
The presence
The personality at aLL time during his 42 years on Planet Earth
I'm 65, I love him so much. I always cry when I hear this.
The whole buildup after the flute is just on another level to anything else.

Anyone who disrespects Elvis and gives him the thumbs down has absolutely No taste in music! He is the most talented artist in this entire universe! God given golden voice given to him from the man upstairs. God gave him the looks, the body, that golden voice! He gave him all three and when he made Elvis they broke the mold🙏🏻🙏🏻💕💕💯💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🎶🎶⚡️⚡️

True, the blueprint for all stars to follow. He was the first superstar, the first person to use their appearance and charm to win over audiences on TV and connect with people on a physical level that went beyond just the music. His whole heart and physical being was music.
You are quite correct my friend
What other singer can carry
- a full orchestra
- a rock band
- a choir?
Elvis has so many textures in his vocal ability, that to this day no one is close.
Liam gallacher done it in oasis whatever song but elvis is amazing too
He was the conductor of all that on stage ... the backing choir, band, orchestra .... he was conducting it all!
Don’t forget that his voice is as solid as a rock! This one guy tried to auto tune it like Michael Jackson’s songs, and it didn’t work because Elvis’s voice was to good! God bless brother.
I agree. No fancy gimmicks,no special mics or auto tune then.
His Idol...Frank Sinatra
No flashy lights or effects ... just a bunch of great musicians on a stage working together to give the best performance they can give.
Couldn't of put it better
Nailed it
Well, there's the rhinestone bellbottom suit, the sideburns, the physicality of the performance. Elvis was the effect.
Is it normal for 65-year-old to still cry over Elvis
Absolutely
To this day 💖
Not normal if you don't
Magnificent song so strong and powerful ❤
I'm 39 and cry at so many of his songs! Weirdly my mum was a fan but I got the Elvis bug via watching films with my grandad ❤
I don't understand how is it even a debate that he is by far the greatest ever? when, after 18 years of career, you can pull this majestic performance off, with 1.5B people watching/listening to you live... and it has been 50 years and nobody even came close to that number (except live-aid which featured different artists where Aloha from Hawaii features only Elvis). I would say that this and probably some of the other mind-boggling records Elvis still holds to this day, does indeed solidify him as greatest to ever do it.
This should be the U.S National Anthem. Literally has three anthems in it along with Elvis singing it, I call that a win.
I agree. The problem is no one would be able to sing it like this!
@@GarretGrayCamera 😂 Valid. Just use a voice recording of Elvis haha.
When he says “ sing it fellas” that’s when we would sing! Lol love the idea tho!

No earpieces for hearing the beat for anyone
Just straight up live music.
Pure talent and a gift for God
Elvis grew up in Dixie. I am a northerner. But respect that he grew up in the South. Elvis was a Tiger.
One thing I’ve noticed when watching Elvis perform is he’s always very supportive of his back up singers and players. He always seems to watch them while they play he just seems so respectful towards them
❤ elvis è sempre stato generoso verso tutti anche a chi lo ha sfruttato ,,lo ho sempre amato e lo amo.ancora le sue canzoni sono l'eredità di mia figlia ❤❤❤
He had a complete and total CONNECTION with this band
Elvis was the kindest man whoever lived . forget the amazing talent.his strength was kindness
I hate to burst your bubble, but while he did make sure he took care of his band and backup singers -- producer Felton Jarvis was ill and couldn't handle the Madison Square Garden concerts in June 1972, so Elvis told the Garden promoters they had to pay Jarvis as if he was there, or he wouldn't do it -- he was also "conducting." J.D. Sumner of the Stamps said everybody had to watch him, for his cues and his expressions. If he was smiling, you were doing well. If he wasn't, you weren't.
Ray Charles did the same thing: He wasn't swaying to the music like people think.
@@UncleMikeNJ I've never heard anything but praise about how not only kind he was to his band, but, yes, how professional and demanding he was. You can be both. One overlooked side of Elvis is how painstaking he was. He knew the sound he wanted, and would work to get it. So, yeah, he wasn't just a happy go lucky whatever guy, but that's not a defect.
I'm just a physically broken, retired veteran.
But this song...
And considering what Elvis went through...
He served in Army...
He's endured different types of deep, emotional scars, that could not heal. ....
But this, ties a strong message, that I think, many of us all, can ponder upon.
Consider each day a gift, to do a good deeds, because it could be our last day on earth.
"Then all our troubles, will soon be over."
..so much Grieve in this World
No need to add to it
Well Said Mr Eby
Well said Roy
Thank you for your service‼️
Thinking of you my man ..your the people we love n care about you fight for us but end up alone .i love you xx
😢
That voice was once in a lifetime “GIFT FROM GOD”🙏🏻🔥
What modern song exists that is more emotional and beautiful? No autotuners...just raw talent. He truly was the King of Rock and Roll.
3:32 The look on his face, the turn to the audience, and that punch up to the air as if summoning the power of a heavenly choir. For the next 40 seconds he will own a level of command over an audience rarely achieved by a performer on stage. Truly powerful and magnificent to watch, especially when considering just how many people were watching at the time.
That a good comment actually because watching it does make you feel like that as viewer love the comment actually
Good comment 👍
All of these responses to this song recognize the same thing. Heaven came down and Glory filled our souls!!
When the trumpets sound off….goose bumps and tears!!!
How he transformed on stage was extraordinary. In the run-up to this - he looked liked he was hyperventilating and about to bolt.
This man was the greatest entertainer who ever lived.
Amen

I watched the new Elvis movie last night. I cried and cried. I've always adored him since I was a child but it was because my dad loved him so much. We saw him in Independence ,MO in 1973. I was six and seeing that movie just brought back so much of my childhood and make me miss my dad as he lives out of state. I'm so sorry about your mom. I pray she is smiling blessings down upon you and maybe she's met Elvis in that big concert arena in the heavens. ❤

May she rest in peace, God bless you 🙏
When Elvis died someone said " a man is never truly dead until he is forgotten, long live the King! The boy who dared to Rock." Elvis was born in Mississippi, so he could sing this song with conviction.
It's so sad that Elvis always worried that no one would remember him. I wish he could see the impact he had on music and how to this day his legacy carries on and is passed on through the generations. I wasn't even born when he was alive but I was brought up on his music through my mom who was a huge fan. He will never be forgotten.
I've always heard "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." That sure applies to Elvis music.
Elvis is the bar set high..Nobody in history could boom those sounds, his unique octaves that only by the grace of God gave him that..Imagine him singing into to the 80s, 90s.no tricks, no recording editing, just him..A gift from God..No wonder he was gospel.

I can remember this song coming on in the car and covering my ears at the end because of the "Hush little baby", it used to make me want to cry. It was one of my daddy's favorite songs.

We are a Southern family and our Dad passed away December 2020. It was his wish my whole life that this song play at the end of his funeral. It was so powerful & I will never forget it. Elvis carried a spiritual anointing upon his life, his music, and his talent that cannot be denied & has not been replicated, even all these years later. I quote Priscilla Presley when speaking about him, "Elvis loved this country & Elvis WAS AMERICA."
RIP to your Dad.
Sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing, God bless you and your family.
A part of what president Jimmy Carter said in his eloquent tribute to Elvis when he passed..."With the passing of Elvis, America loses a part of itself."
Back in the day when this country was proud
This song should be the NATIONAL ANTHEM OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Part of it might have become the anthem. First it should be said that this is not just one song, it is a medley of 3 different centuries-old and very historical American songs. This is why it is called American Trilogy (a trilogy being a collection of 3 songs or books). One of the 3 songs, Dixie, is the unofficial anthem of the Confederacy. If they had won the Civil War they might have wanted this to become not just their anthem but America's anthem.
One of the other two songs is The Battle Hymn of the Republic. This song was the anthem of the other side during the Civil War. And the third song is an old African American Spiritual called All My Trials which dates back to the times of slavery. So Elvis brings together in this performance the two opposing sides of the Civil War, as well as the Black population of America. Everyone is represented. What a wonderful man he was, embracing all sides in general and none in particular. Love and Blessings to the cherished American people from across the waves in Ireland. 👍☘💚
@helenaville5939 What you and many people get wrong is that the South wasn't fighting to take over the United States government. The South, like Ireland, was fighting for her Independence. So Dixie would not be the anthem of all Americans just the song of the South.
@@Southern_Agrarian1930 Thank you for correcting me on that important point, David. I appreciate it. 👍😊
No your anthem is fantastic the way it is.
Great comment
This man was loved worldwide to a vast array of people, countries, races, no one had this mass appeal, no one.
A truly annointed man sent from heaven above., this will never be duplicated or seen again.
No one ever was as magnetic, or charasmatic, and that's just the way it is.
Elvis was a gift to us all from GOD HIMSELF!!
I'm pretty sure if he was still alive, he would be 86, wear that jumpsuit and STILL steal the show wherever he went.
mj?
@@yourstrulydavid9966 MJ was great. But he's no Elvis.
I love how he has a Bad Ass bass singer, and a FLUTE PLAYER!!! Oh, and he also has a bass trombone player who can play pedal tones.
Elvis Presley WAS America. He represented ALL the people of America. I had one of his songs play at my wedding in 2019
@Richard: Elvis loved everyone. No matter where they come from. Elvis wasn't just America. Elvis was the world and the universe. Elvis loved everyone. Elvis said that himself.
@@matrix5000100 you too can be a legend when you are dead.
Except this legend will NEVER EVER DIE,
God moved over when Elvis arrived!!
Which one did you have played?
@@douglewis5701 I just can't help believing
Which one?
Magnificent. The snarl, the muttering, the cacophony of noise, the thrust of beat acknowledgement , the wipe, every single time
HE IS NOT MEASURED BY TIME AS SOME SAY .. A GIFT FROM GOD IS TIMELESS AND THATS MR. ELVIS A. PRESLEY 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

The king singing about the main king. Beyond priceless.
My grandpa showed me his documentary on Netflix around 6 months ago and since then I've been obsessed with Elvis .. and everyone around me knows it. This guy is literally the best in everything 😍
That last part before the big finish, you cannot be human and not get goosebumps. Pure greatness. RIP, Sir.
Only the Elvis character died that's all the physical person who played Elvis is still alive and well his new identity is pastor Bob Joyce it's already been proven that he's Elvis
Just call him Elvis
@@prestongower7800 Man could Bob sing!
@@joenwc because Bob Joyce is Elvis's new identity that's why he can sing plus go listen to Bob Joyce sing hallelujah they sing it exactly the same exact way
@@prestongower7800 Joyce is a FAKE trying to live off of Elvis, with mindless cult followers.
I used to be a kid thinking Elvis was lame, then as an adult who took music for granted, I look back and see music used to mean something more. True genius.
He will be miss😢and his Daughter too, there would never be another Singer like Elvis, he’s one of a kind he will always be in my Hart.❤
Chills every damn time he hits those notes at the end
My mother was an Elvis fan. She passed ten years ago; I can’t not cry listening to this song, in the best way.
The King. Always and forever ❤
Same as me my mom died in 1997 from breast cancer 🎀
@@lisalayton7263 isn’t it funny? Couldn’t stand Elvis growing up because it was always on; now I find it soothing and a way to connect with my mother…..
:( Sorry about your mom. Maybe Elvis can always make you think of the best moments with your mom.
When this song and performance, which played to over a billion people, is only a footnote in your biopic. You know you are a legend beyond reckoning.
Elvis Presley will forever remind me of my Grandfather. Rest in Peace (1948-2022) 🕊️
I never tire of hearing The King sing Trilogy, absolutely inspiring .
I played this song whilst I was sitting next my dad who just passed away in hospital, just he and I, neither of us big Elvis fans, but somehow it came to me in that moment
💔❤🩹❤all the best to you and 💙💙💙to the memory of your Dad
This was played at the finish of my dad's funeral. It was so powerful.

Yes you were!!!!
dcran4d I was near you when we both watched the King singing live back in 1973 and I remembered when you broke down with tears flooding down your eyes with deep heart felt emotions. I was the guy you rested your head on my chest while you were weeping and I whispered in your ear 'who loves you baby?'
As a guitarist and musician, I can say that Elvis was one in only 5,000 years a talent...
