I watched the new Elvis movie last night. I cried and cried. I've always adored him since I was a child but it was because my dad loved him so much. We saw him in Independence ,MO in 1973. I was six and seeing that movie just brought back so much of my childhood and make me miss my dad as he lives out of state. I'm so sorry about your mom. This is not just a show, a performance, he was worshiping God, expressing his faith with all his heart, all his voice, all his talent, he delivered everything he could in this song. Elvis maybe was in dark places emotionally sometimes, but he had a heart for God and music, nobody can doubt that.
My first two concerts I attended when I was in high school was Elvis. All these many years later, I can still see and hear him. He had an incredible voice, he loved his fans, and he had charisma. Oh what charisma!!
Elvis is the bar set high..Nobody in history could boom those sounds, his unique octaves that only by the grace of God gave him that..Imagine him singing into to the 80s, 90s.no tricks, no recording editing, just him..A gift from God..No wonder he was gospel.
@Me-ji2pn if youre British like me, every other national anthem in the world is better than ours! "God Save The King"...bloody indeed. Boring dirge! I fall into a coma when I hear it. To Hell with him, and the pastasites of the Monarchy.
@Richard: Elvis loved everyone. No matter where they come from. Elvis wasn't just America. Elvis was the world and the universe. Elvis loved everyone. Elvis said that himself.
This man was loved worldwide to a vast array of people, countries, races, no one had this mass appeal, no one. A truly annointed man sent from heaven above., this will never be duplicated or seen again. No one ever was as magnetic, or charasmatic, and that's just the way it is.
RIght here with you Denise. Nearly every day of my life I listen to this song. If you don't get emotional listening to this, you need a doctor to come check you out....
For those of you who don't know the story behind this, the flute player doing the solo, had missed a note BADLY the night before during the performance. The look Elvis gave him on this night, was one of approval and redemption after a flawless solo on this version. My Dad educated me on this, the HUGE fan that he was, back in the early '80's. Thanks for the memories Dad.
That's for sure I know all the fans loved him including the audiences. If he was still around I wouldn't mind meeting him in person along with getting a picture taken with him
One thing I’ve noticed when watching Elvis perform is he’s always very supportive of his back up singers and players. He always seems to watch them while they play he just seems so respectful towards them
❤ elvis è sempre stato generoso verso tutti anche a chi lo ha sfruttato ,,lo ho sempre amato e lo amo.ancora le sue canzoni sono l'eredità di mia figlia ❤❤❤
@UncleMikeNJ I've never heard anything but praise about how not only kind he was to his band, but, yes, how professional and demanding he was. You can be both. One overlooked side of Elvis is how painstaking he was. He knew the sound he wanted, and would work to get it. So, yeah, he wasn't just a happy go lucky whatever guy, but that's not a defect.

3:15 this moment for me is what makes this the greatest live performance of all time. Look at him staring down his own band like they're going to battle. Talking to them, screaming... Like they're going to absolutely kill this last part. I try not to watch this performance to often but I always cry like a little boy when I do. THIS is music. THIS is what a true artist looks like.
Well, from what I hear, he was yelling out instructions to make sure they hit their marks correctly. They had screwed it up in the rehearsal and he wasn't too happy. So, the look of determination on his face was "Don't screw this up,my name is all over this".
I totally agree, Elvis was definitely a man that was put on this earth for a different reason and we all know then and now why, he didn't see hate, color, judgement, only music and he not only saw it he felt it, and that was the difference in Elvis!! What a great and blessed man!!!!!!
I’m a “An American Trilogy” hunter, seeking out every version ever recorded. After a lifetime of extensive research and analytics, I can finally announce this is the best version. I’m not wrong by the way.

Spot on. Presence, charisma, talent, passion and emotion, and far more talented than people give him credit for. Been listening to him since i was 8 years old. I'm 58 now and people will be listening to Elvis long after i'm gone
dcran4d I was near you when we both watched the King singing live back in 1973 and I remembered when you broke down with tears flooding down your eyes with deep heart felt emotions. I was the guy you rested your head on my chest while you were weeping and I whispered in your ear 'who loves you baby?'
I'm just a physically broken, retired veteran. But this song... And considering what Elvis went through... He served in Army... He's endured different types of deep, emotional scars, that could not heal. .... But this, ties a strong message, that I think, many of us all, can ponder upon. Consider each day a gift, to do a good deeds, because it could be our last day on earth. "Then all our troubles, will soon be over."
It’s midnight. I closed the door, turned the lights off put on my super-high quality headphones on, and lay on my bed in the dark. I closed my eyes and listened to this song. Just lying there, listening. And for 4 minutes, I was no longer in my room. I was in heaven.
I dont know how the youtube algorithm brought me here but this is my first time hearing this performance by Elvis and my mind is blown. He died long before my time but I cant get my head around the power of his voice.
Listen also his studio version of Bridge over Troubled Water and ,unfortunately, little'know Songs like Long Black Limousine, Power of my Love, Thinking About You or Loving Arms...Pure Magic
I love how you can see the passion I'm his face. I'm only 30 and most people I know don't understand why I love Elvis. Every time I listen to him he gives me chills. One of the most amazing singers of all time and one of my top 3.
Elvis and Freddy Mercury to me are the greatest natural vocalist of all time. Of course I have Elvis on a different level. I e always said God sent us Elvis so we could know what Angels sing like.
What was so unique about this performance was it was seen by over a billion people worldwide. Viewed in over 40 countries and no artists will ever come close to this. Even the Super Bowl doesn't come close. This is the largest viewership in television history and the Number 1 rated show of all time
When God made Elvis Presley, he broke the mold. I can't get enough of his powerful voice. I have been a fan of his, since I was 3 1/2 years old (March of 1960. I'm now 65& even more of a fan than ever.
There's only one Elvis Presley no one can compare to him. He's one of a kind not to be duplicated ever. He had charm, he was handsome, kind and had a heart of gold. He still lives through his music and will always be remembered as the King of rock and roll.
when he passed away i pulled my car over in houston and cried. i thought then that at least he had left his music with us. that will be lasting forever.
LMAO Yeah what Elvis did was Stole all and gave no credit to anyone.. he was a stiff no dancing "CULTURE VULTURE" F@&K Elvis! He was also a Perv!! Marrying a child
He was a spiritual man, his faith was important to him, this performance confirms this. Such an incredible artist, there will never, ever, be anyone ever like him again.
I think Elvis had titanic internal battles going on in his life. He had a drug problem and probably loved women a little too much but I know that he also loved God.

I pray she is smiling blessings down upon you and maybe she's met Elvis in that big concert arena in the heavens. ❤

I always figured that's what that look was for from seeing the other take of this. That was a rough note in the other version.

@UncleMikeNJ I've never heard anything but praise about how not only kind he was to his band, but, yes, how professional and demanding he was. You can be both.
