      We often drive a wedge when we are sharing the Gospel. She said timing is everything. He is not prideful and boastful. Jumping the gun and laying on scripture out of season (heavy handed, pressure laced altar call) could snap that person off like a twig. She said if you approach a person with the old "one hit wonder" deal (instant change) you better be willing to share the cost. There must be follow through. If there isn't any functionality for development/companionship DO NOT bring His Name into it. She said if you can't deliver, shut your mouth or you'll be responsible for the outcome of your poor stewardship. ------So many things she taught me. Very logical. Down to earth. REAL. I wish she was still alive. She sang "Bridge" while rocking me as a baby. I remember.

    • @AndieZ4U2
      @AndieZ4U2 3 года назад +13

      That warmed my heart. My Mother was a DEVOUT follower of Jesus Christ. She taught me to reach people through the back door. And that sometimes you don't preach the Word and even mention Him when a person is REALLY in bad shape. She said He demands you focus on the priority, which is the Soul. The brokenness.

    • @AndieZ4U2

    No vocal training, no real instrument training, no auto tune or ear piece, he picked out his musicians & backup singers, he never wrote songs yet arranged them, never had highly paid arrangers for his shows, He was the show, one man, one voice there to make his audience happy and provide a brief escape from their troubles. I'm a musician and I study music at the Conservatory of my town. Jacob has nothing to do with Elvis, I was curious and just tonight I've listened to the Jacob Collier studio version even the live version. Collier uses so many modern technologies that help a lot to do a show and he disguises the original song "Bridge over troubled water".
      There's no the same feeling, strength, emotions and shades of the Elvis version, even the choirs of Elvis are more genuine. As I was listening to the beginning of the studio version I thought that Jacob was trying to imitate Michael Jackson.

      ...and is able to recognize that this is sung by a man who laid himself down like a bridge over troubled water for so many people that surrounded him, and people he met and who were in need.
      Elvis needed such a bridge but the bridges were always too short and not wide enough to ease his mind and pain for a longer period of time.
      So he helped himself, as well and as often as he could, by being that bridge for others.

    I know I've said it somewhere before this comment, but I must again. This is the greatest live performance ever. Period. This is a 36 year old man, gone from the music scene for a long while thanks to Uncle Sam and Colonel Parker and his dream of Elvis as a movie star. I've seen most all of them, rock and roll speaking, the Stones, Queen with Freddie, Jethro Tull, on and on. This performance puts every other one to second place at maximum. They didn't call him the King for nothing you know...thank you Elvis Presley for changing the world forever, in a great way...RIP ELVIS PRESLEY

      I agree with you that "This is the greatest live performance ever" among popular music and rock and roll singers. In fact, we have an unimpeachable authority on the quality of this performance: none other than Paul Simon, the composer and original singer of this song (along with Art Garfunkel) was blown away when he saw video of this. He considered it the best version out of hundreds of covers, and said something like, "How can you compete with that?"

      This is an outstanding performance, simply the best, but to say that Elvis "never walked through a song" is a bit of a stretch. In many of his concerts in the 1970s he would quickly "walk through" some of the original big hits from the 1950s like Hound Dog, All Shook Up, etc. because fans still wanted to hear those songs but he didn't want to spend much energy or time on them.

    No one sang this song like Elvis. No one could sing like Elvis… PERIOD. My grandfather was Elvis’ superior whilst he was in the Army in Germany. They remained friends. I have no sisters and Lisa was an only child; so Elvis asked my parents if I’d like to live at Graceland each summer. They were the best 5 summers of my childhood. I would go to Graceland for Christmas sometimes, too. Elvis LOVED Christmas! We had our own closed world. I lived at Graceland from the ages of 7-11. I was there that awful August day in 1977 when he died. It was so sad. Then Lisa Marie’s son died via self-inflicted GSW, and then Lisa. 💔 Lisa was a grandmother when she died. Danielle Riley Keough’s daughter is named “Tupelo Storm Smith-Petersen.” Her middle name is “Storm,” as was her brother’s. Benjamin was born in Florida during a terrible storm. Before going on stage at this concert, a man called one of the Sweet Inspirations the “N word.” It was Cissy Houston, mother of Whitney Houston. Elvis had security kick the guy out! At :38 Elvis looks at Cissy Houston whilst singing the lyrics, “I’m on your side.” He smiled as he looked at her.

      Steven Yourke In the book “Careless Love - The Unmaking of Elvis Presley” it has interviews with his sound engineers who talk about how he didn’t have any type of monitors until 1971, and when he finally had them the first time, and he heard himself when he was singing See See Rider he turned around and looked at the sound man like a kid in a candy store.
      Also if he had monitors in 1969 and 1970 in Vegas, where are they at? There is tons of video footage and thousands of photos from all these shows but yet there isn’t a single video or photo with a monitor anywhere in it. Not even on the side of the stage.

      The performers can't hear the ones that face away from them, or if they can, its distant and poor quality. The ones on stage allow them to hear well. Nowadays, many performers use ear pieces instead of stage monitors.
