    As one who takes this medication one of the biggest mistakes is thinking that you don’t need to take care of the other facets of your life apart from mental state. When the medication is used in congruente to healthy life habits the effects are far more beneficial.

    I just cried at the thought of being able to move my body regularly and taking care of myself and getting myself fit without it being such an energy eater to even get a bit of motivation to actually follow through. Same with having the energy to actually follow through with cooking fresh meals regularly. Those are the things that really really could improve my life so much on an everyday basis. It‘s so hard to come out of a depressive episode and still not being able to do it all. I‘m waitlisted for a diagnosis and I hope it starts soon. I really do need the help. It‘s such a burden to not be able to live your life how you want to live it.

    I’ve been on this medication for about 6 weeks and I find many similarities to you. One thing that is something I’m going through is questioning my identity. All my life I’ve been known as wacky or chatty, life of the party, a risk taker, rebellious etc. Now looking back, I can see so much was my ADHD. And some life choices didn’t end well.
    I’m feeling quite frozen right now, for how to move forward because all the millions of things that I thought I was interested in are not resonating right now. I feel calm, quiet and settled. It’s been a lifetime of feeling like I’m rushed and busy and anxiety with that, so now what? I still want to achieve things and have interests, but I feel that the things I used to pursue were mostly based around self help coz I was looking for answers and I didn’t know the question!!

      Take it one day at a time! You have clarity and calm for the first time ever and other people have had this their whole lives. We don't need to instantly know where to take things from here, all we need to do is to create space in our hearts and listen to what feels right and how we feel that we want to proceed. I relate to you more than you know, and 8 months into medication I'm still just figuring things out!

    Thank you so much for this video. It gives me hope.
    I am going through the diagnosis process and I have very mixed feelings about meds. But the positive stories about having a more quiet mind, being able to control one's focus and impulsivity and so on makes me so hopeful. I've been suffering for over 30 years wondering why I felt like an alien. And nobody understood how insanely hard I had to work just to achieve normal everyday tasks. I really hope medication will help me at least a little bit, so I can get out of the "just try harder" and then burnout- cycle.

      Hi again! I've been diagnosed and started meds a couple of weeks ago! Sadly, I have yet to see the Vyvanse make any difference in my ADHD symptoms. But at least I don't have any side effects. I'm currently on 50mg and I seriously wonder if there is anything in the capsules sometimes 😆 I still can't get started on tasks that I should do. I still get super distracted and loose hours doing pointless stuff, and I still can't keep a thought in my head long enough to do anything about it.
      I'm really surprised because I for sure expected to notice a difference on 50mg. My doc said we should try 70 if I still don't function better in a few days but I'm scared. What if the highest dose does nothing? Like, what is wrong with me.

    I’ve just started vyvanse, low dose. So far it’s just… brought a feeling of calm. Feeling settled. Distractions don’t completely disrupt my flow. I hadn’t realised, but when I was working, my brain was revving at top speed. Now it just… doesn’t. And that switching between tasks thing? Yes. Wow. Stillness. Relief.
    I came to this video hoping to hear how it works for hobbies. I’ve had such a hard time starting or sticking to personal tasks. You mentioned exercise - but it was something you were doing before, right? Have you successfully done stuff you always wanted to, but never did?

  • @Angel_inaa

    All of these are so spot on with what I’m noticing! I would snack 24/7, not be able to do physical things like even standing to do the dishes, go to the store for cat litter, or listen to my boyfriend without thinking about what I’m going to say in the middle of the conversation 😂 the internal dialogue has become just common thoughts not me talking to me in my head. This has changed my life. I was always told these were because of anxiety so I was prescribed anxiety medication which I do take since I do have anxiety but it never solved the core issues. Vyvanse has helped my anxiety 70% since I no longer stress over the simple things I have to get done. I always say if you are stressing about something, do what ever you can to solve it. If you do that then try to breath and accept where things are. Being able to just clean my house or shower without debating when I’ll have the energy to stand that long is a god send.

    Holy sh... this is such a hopefull video for me. I've been taking anti-depressants for the last year and still haven't managed to have any sort of consistency in my life. I changed mental health professional last month because honestly the previous one didn't really listen to me and i never felt like she actually cared.
    Last week or so i've been watching many videos related to ADHD and oh boy... every symptom/issue/problem i read/heard about, checked almost every item in my list. Watching this and other videos about how medication can help turn your life around gives me a lot of hope. Thank you.
    People, this is really important. It's difficult to do, but it's essential that you feel a real exchange and interest from your mental health professional. If it doesn't work, consider going to someone that's been recommended by a person who's criteria you can trust. Your time and energy is precious and you have every right to go to someone that actually makes a positive difference in your life.

I'm just saying this because there's a lot of things I would love to write to you, but it would be such a huge wall of text! If you would like to call for an hour or two, send me an e-mail (link in the description).
      Other than that (if you don't feel the need to) I would juust likek to tell you that you deserve to find a proffessional that fits your needs and that those do exist! Things get better and it's so important to keep the faith. If it works, it works and it doesn't matter what anybody thinks about medication or ADHD. Meds can be life changing!

      Hey! I feel like every ADHD person I meet tends to be meticulous about writing and planning because it just feels like life is constantly too much otherwise. We just need to have those more "hard constraints" to be able to find some form of structure in life. I feel like other people do this too, but in their heads, whereas our heads are just too full to keep a coherent daily plan in mind. I hope that helps!

    So I've been taking 60mg for about 6 months now. And I agree with most of your video! You lay it out very well and I can see your passion behind it. You are obviously bright and engaging!
    My background:
    I grew up with teachers begging my parents to treat me for ADHD. But that never happened. I thought I grew out of it, but yeah.... Being a 33 year old sole provider of a wife and two toddler boys, one of which has cancer, will painfully make you aware that it doesn't!
    Where I agree:
    1. I'm much better at making lists.
    2. The amount of motivation is insane.
    3. I actually have the energy to do things.
    4. The desire to actually pay attention.
    5. Having ONE THOUGHT AT A TIME. I cannot believe this is what everyone else experiences! (I've tried not taking it a few times now, and I can only last one day because I want my brain to shut up)
    6. I have read books cover to cover consistently for the first time in my life.
    7. I can actually have a complete conversation (with people, myself, and God).
    There are a LOT more....
    Where I disagree:
    1. Anxiety. The amount of anxiety I feel for the first two hours is honestly troublesome.
    2. Hyperfocus. Though I can actually finish tasks, I find it hard to switch when necessary.
    3. Anger. This is obviously another symptom of ADHD, but it's worse.
    4. You didn't say it was a magic pill, I got the impression it was in parts of the vid. I STILL have a hard time focusing, fighting impulsivity, and taking initiative.
    With those in mind, I also have GAD, MDD, and CPTSD. So my experience is probably different from others.

      @allthis701 Год назад +2

      Honestly I think it's expected that with the sorts of disorders you have, ADHD medication won't help with the overlapping symptoms. Stimulants are designed to do something very specific, and if it isn't the cause for some of the symptoms, they will remain. Especially when it comes to anxiety and anger. I'm glad the medication helps you in so many areas though!

    • @AntoniasUniverse
      @AntoniasUniverse  Год назад

      Hey, thank you for sharing your points and your story! I'm really sorry that you are dealing with so many things all at once, but I'm also incredibly proud of how amazingly you have coped with it so far! You are inspirational for sure!
      Please note that I had some anger issues when I wasn't sleeping and taking care of my body properly, because the medication ended up being too much on such days. If you ever feel that way, take it down a notch! I have never had the anxiety that you speak of in the morning, but I suspect that might also be an indication to listen to your body and work on your fitness, diet, hydration, sleep, and possibly a lower dose. I know that sounds like a lot, but it really works, I promise.
      .. and most of all: hang in there! You are a great support for your family and anyone in your position is bound to have a hard time. You have all these other things going on too with GAD etc. so the way you feel is absolutely valid and understandable!

    • @bigdreamsdreamer1355
      @bigdreamsdreamer1355 Год назад

      Hey man, hope you read this...please lower your dose, I had increased to 60 mg and literally the symptoms increased as unable to switch tasks and going down rabbit hole and the anger is sort of rage not good for those around, maybe work with 50 mg or as I do 40 mg pill and I distribute another 40 mg in 4 parts and take 10 mg sort powder mixed in water sort of like the 50 mg per day total, except the 10 mg will be slow release. The meds are different to everyone, and if increased can be like none taken or worse...in my case, once I was in my thoughts I wouldn't let others interrupt without making it a big deal. I also started taking Gaba 2 hr prior to sleep, and omg the sleep is amazing!

      Der Arzt meinte bei Stimulanzien brauchen wir nicht weiter gucken (so seine Erfahrungen).
      Es gibt Menschen, zu denen zähle ich, die sehr empfindlich sind + eine genetische Disposition haben.
      Bin mittlerweile auf Atomoxetin (Strattera) eingestellt. Es geht mir schon besser damit.

I will try to address your comment as best as possible BUT I will say that it takes a different amount of time for everybody and I'm someone who already experimented a lot with self-improvement before starting. Definitely don't give up if you don't feel like you are where you want to be yet! Another good thing to mention is that more is not always better, I've read that a higher dose might actually cause you to develop more tolerance or otherwise influence you too much to the point where you don't feel your usual self and in control. Your experience might differ, but definitely take your time and keep experimenting!

      I'd say it probably depends on your body and current lifestyle.
      I have a very low blood pressure so the meds rarely give me heart palpitations or something, but if I do too much coffee and sports, things start to feel different. For some people the threshold for what they are able to do might be lower or higher, so it's good to listen to your body.
      I found a kind of balance in doing sports in the evenings when the meds are trailing off, because it's easier on the heart and it gives me a second little boost of focus and mood. It might work differently for you though, maybe you feel no difference at all.
      You can try and see where your boundaries lie and if you feel any discomfort and irregular heart sensations, you'll know it's too much. Definitely ask the doc too!

I noticed a slight increase in focus but it doesn't last long. I don't mind that it controls my eating habits, I've struggled with my weight for a long time now and I don't mind if it helps me lose weight. I don't have a very healthy relationship with food. I'm thinking about asking my psychiatrist for a boost in the dosage, I read online that it's possible if the dose is too low for the individual then it's possible that these side effects are not uncommon to experience, where as it becomes also possible that the desired therapeutic effects won't happen compared to taking a higher dosage where the desired therapeutic effects become more likely to be achieved and possibility of experiencing negative side effects decline. However, each individual in different, but personally I feel like this is my case. I've had ADHD since I was 7, quit taking medication when I was 14. I just not decided to get back on it.

      I relate so much to your experience, Christie!! I also stopped eating the crappy food and worked on so many new techniques and it helped so much! You can do at least quite a bit better with all of these, but it still really helps to advocate for yourself and not just get medication, but ADHD therapy with someone who will understand and support you. To be honest, the meds are only a help for you to apply those techniques anyway, they can't magically change anyone, so it's good to start from inside yourself. Greetings!

I had to call 50 different ones (different cities too) and even asked my doctor for an emergency medical referral. I managed to shorten the time from about a year to four months until I could see a psych. Try anything you can, because it's worth it, but don't take medication without a prescription :( This is still serious chemistry, and it's important to have your progress monitored by a professional. Maybe a different medication is that one that will work for you? You never know. So, ADVOCATE! Believe me, it's worth it, even if you don't have ADHD, seeing a psych will be really revealing and helpful.

    I’m 36 and was diagnosed last year. I’ve been taking vyvanse for almost a year increased dosage overtime to now 70mg and I’m still stuck overthinking everything, overly ambitious but not producing anything, avoiding certain things such as simply sitting down to make effective plans/schedules/lists (etc), getting lost in RUclips videos, putting off tasks until the last minute. No appetite, losing my curvy shape. But I do have more energy. However, It’s so disappointing & overwhelming to be stuck in my own head even with meds. • @AntoniasUniverse
      @AntoniasUniverse  Год назад +8

      Maybe you're taking too much? For me 50 was too much for a while and it really had a negative effect. Now it's fine, but for a few weeks I really declined.. Anyway, one of the best things that help me when I'm as stuck as you (and this happens often, it's an ongoing battle!!) is to write a tiny list of things I absolutely need to do on paper and then set a timer for 10 minutes to work on each one. e.g. 10 minutes of tidying, 10 minutes of studying etc. and then STOP when 10 minutes are over. It really works, because doing 1% is better than nothing! Also, if that doesn't work for you that day, maybe you need to embrace your downs and just order some nice food, make a good drink and burrito down on the couch for a few days. Once you gather your strength you can take a shower and try the list thing again. This happens for me at least twice a month for a day or two. It's completely normal!

      So relatable! I've been taking 60mg for at least six months. How is your sleep? I always had issues so I think being on such a high dose was helpful but also burned me out. I also had sleep apnea (enlarged turbines, not overweight so was more difficult to get treated and CPAP didn't help). If sleep is an issue/never feeling rested that could be interfering with the effectiveness of your meds - most certainly. It's only been a few months for me but I have found that it is REALLY helpful to vary how much I'm taking - I get my meds via 40mg and 20mg pills. And following my Dr's suggestion I skip one day all together - usually I have some coffee. I've found that doing all of that has begun to make a difference. I am feeling less overwhelmed, ambitious, etc and able to break things down and do them. Also I am building in more accountability structures into my life, which is very important. And developing systems that work for me - Bullet journaling, printing templates from canvas that I put into a binder, etc. Wishing the best! I know how frustrating it is!

    If Vyvanse is only once a day... I wonder how one gets those extra few hours in the afternoon.
    I do have lots to do a head of me still but I remind myself that I can't nor should I try to do it all at once. Bit by bit I'll get there!
    Glad it's working out for you, I always like hearing others path with Vyvanse and you almost learn more from other people using it then what the doc could tell you. Of course, listen to the doc but they miss the fine points!

      Thank you for sharing your experience too!
      I definitely had a lot of the negatives as well, especially insomnia and irritability, but they got much better. Of course, the effects are milder too, but it still really makes a difference over time!
      One thing that helps me get the afternoon hours are brisk walks. Sports are like a medicine in a way, so doing something active right as my elvanse are fading has been really good.
      I built it up over time from 2k step walks to 5-10k steps walks completely naturally (without forcing myself) and I can hiiighly recommend trying something like this!
      When I come home from the walks I have another, albeit small, focus period and good mood.
      But as you say there's nothing perfect about it and I really want to make a video on the difficulties too 🤔

      I crash much less on Vyvanse than other meds, but I do wish I got the maximum effective time. I only get about 8 hours.
      A lot of people will have some caffeine around when their meds run out for a little more stimulation. And some people will plan exercise or a quick nap or something to manage their energy. I am not these people 😂
      Oftentimes, once you've figured out your best medication and dose, a doctor can prescribe an immediate -release stimulant "booster" to get you through the end of the day. And, depending on medication (and whatever other factors affect the person), some people split their dose instead of taking their full daily does all at one time. I've read that, being a prodrug, Vyvanse is a good candidate for dose-splitting. But obviously you should discuss any of that with your prescriber.
      I'm still figuring my own stuff out. Ritalin, Strattera, and Adderall all wiped me out or made me foggy. Vyvanse is working out much better, but now I need to find the right dose.

      Well this isn’t a super drug lol. Normal people also crash at 2:30-5pm this isn’t a drug to give energy all day otherwise everyone would take it. Also be careful on energy drinks or caffeine with vyvanse you. Can get increased side effects and high heart rate

    I really wish I could have positive results and these kind of benefits from medication but in my past experiences throughout my life it has not been as beneficial as I thought it would be but the main trouble I am having now is that these providers around here will not even prescribe me meds at all because they are "controlled substances" and right off the bat they just assume everyone is a drug addict or drug seeker looking for a fix or to cop a scrip. I'm 38 years old and I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was like 14 btw.

      Hey, Sarthak! That's definitely a personal choice and there's no right or wrong, but I'm just going to say that taking medication to help a medical condition is not a sign of weakness. If you would prefer to fight with ADHD on a day to day basis, you can definitely do it, but having that little bit of extra help really does offer more opportunities to focus on other areas of life as well. Maybe this doesn't apply to you, but I feel like it's the reality for a lot of people, so I just wanted to share that viewpoint too.

  • @ivoryglass3589

    No, all stimulates like this are very bad for you. They can lead to addiction, heart problems and they change your entire personality. Wha helps with ADHD is exercise, healthy eating, drinking water, planning out your day the night before, LISTS and having a relationship with GOD.

    • @kbodychek
      @kbodychek Год назад +20

      Actually, stimulant medication does not lead to addiction if someone has ADHD. It even can help with other addictive behavior (because ADHDers tend to self-medicate and have a high comorbidity with other addictions). ADHD brains lack the amount of neurotransmitters that neurotypical brains can produce by themselves. So it‘s a good thing those can be brought in by meds. Yes, exercise, healthy eating, drinking enough water and having a daily structure definitely help and are needed for ADHD brains. But it‘s so much harder to be able to do all of the above consistently when your brain refuses to focus on them (because you lack the neurotransmitters that take care of that focus).
      In regards to yourself, and others who wish so: If you don’t want to use or try meds, that‘s totally fine. But what you are doing here is shaming people for needing meds. And you‘re going out spreading misinformations. What you‘re doing can be so very harmful. Please stop.
      If your way works for you - that‘s great! Genuinely! But please don’t shame others for choosing a different way than you did.

    for all those who dont know adhd is NOT a real disorder. Yes the symptoms are real as hell, but we must remember they are symptoms, not a disorder on its own. Ive tried multiple medications, and they are all so so terrible and disgusting, and not the way to live. Ive realised adhd is caused by an emotional overload, and an engery build up either thoughout the body due to blockages caused by emotions, or an energy overload in the mind due to overthinking. Its all energy. We must learn to process our emotions and understand our thought patterns and we shall cure our hyperactive minds

      @@AntoniasUniverse Hi Antonia, your repsonse makes me laugh a little but I find it highly patronising, considering the amount of research Ive done on physiology, neurology, psychology, pharmacology and treatment of inattention and hyperactivity. But sure you aren't to know that. What is the scientific research your referring to? Also do you really think subjective personal opinions of those with no knowledge in the field is valid evidence for adhd being a real disorder? there actually isnt any research on it, because all the research does is study the symptoms or inattention and hyperactivity. that does not mean it is a disorder on its own. An analogy would be for example..to say..having a running nose is a disorder. And instead of trying to figure out and treat what is causing the runny nose in the first place..say allergies, infection, cold or flu..we pretend its a disorder all on its own and take some drug version of sticking something up the nose to stop the muscus coming out. That is exactly what is happening with ADHD, it is a symptom of something else, but taking drugs to ignore it one is not going through the process of healing, just covering up and pretending everything is okay. When these stimulants drugs are terribly detrimental to the body. I also must laugh at anyone who believes the pharmaceutical industry (an industry that only exists to profit off the sickness of humanity) has there best interests at heart. And anyone who takes any research produced by this terrorist gang seriously. I don't like to laugh but its the only way to make myself better about living a world which is brainwashed by the idea that these criminals serve them.
