Something you might consider covering if you haven't already, is the fallout from having unreliable equipment. If my PC is slow to complete a task I am in danger of switching my attention to something unproductive, like doom scrolling. Having a temperamental washing machine inhibits me from washing my clothes. Any hiccup can throw me off track. Even if it's just for ten minutes, it soon adds up over the course of a day, leading to feelings of frustration and disappointment in myself.
Oh laundry! That's what I'm supposed to be doing!
This year i lerned a important tip for adhders as me. You wont regret buying things that make life easier. I mean, I bought one of those vacuums that vacuum and wash floors at once, i never had floors that clean before in my life! I bought a super powerfull but cheap vacuum for water and solids that can be used outside... I have my front yard clener than ever. Airfryer? A hit. Fridge with water faucet that dosent need to be replenish? Drinking more water than ever! If you can, use technology in your favor, maybe is some money, but having those task in little time and without the toll of doing it against your nature is a life changer
As someone raised poor and with this attitude toward scrimping and saving I honestly feel I’ve done myself more damage over the years. I’ve recently decided to ‘take the hit’ and invest in making my home functional, easy to clean, bought the products that remove the obstacles to doing a task I needed to do even if it was costly… and boy oh boy has it changed my life. I love cooking now I have an air fryer. I never struggle with overloaded dishes that cause my brain to feel overstimulated and stressed now that I invested in a tabletop dishwasher. These two things mean I’m able to eat healthily, as the clean up was also a big detractor from eating anything other than snacks with no clean up. Next time I can justify it I will be making those investments into my illustration products, and I KNOW I’ll do more illustration work than ever because it will be a joy, compared to my clunky old iPad! I totally agree with your sentiment!
I absolutely hated my air fryer and donated it. Food didnt turn out right, which was a major disappointment, cleaning it was just another hassle to deal with, and it took up half my counterspace.
I'd rather use my stove, and slow cooker. If i had the space i'd get a new pressure cooker .. meat's best friend!
@@briannab5296 i use protectors, are easier to clean
What was the outside vacuum you use? I’ve never heard of one. That would be amazing!
@@laurasonnier Probably referring to a shop-vac of some sort. Rigid makes really good ones for a great price. They're at Home Depot if you're in North America. Never met a fellow tradesman who uses anything else unless they have Festool money lol.
- set up an environment that gets you to do it (tip: think of room's job description)
- use visual cues as much as possible
- if you want to use it, put it in your way (and vice versa).
- use more functional, easy-to-use items
- beautiful, elegant things are more appealing
- use helpful tech
Thanks I was trying to decide if the video would be worth it to watch or not.
This is my favorite kind of comment! 😊
Finally, a video filled with suggestions to which I hear myself saying "Yeah, I could actually do that!" and "Yeah, that actually feels like it could help!" instead of all the tired clichés like "Just get a planner!" "Set alarms!" etc.
WAIT, what!? THERE IS A FOLD-ABLE TREADMILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤯🤩 that totally solves the space issue preventing me from getting one for so long! 🤩
YAS!! It's the best and it moves super easily cause it has wheels 😃🔥
Now that is what I am talking about!!! A fold up treadmill and an adjustable desk. I need these things in my life.
Yeah, I also loved it!
Your home is clutter free. Where do you put all your stuff?!? I clear and work at the kitchen counter to maintain focus. Thank you for sharing these tips!
Absolutely one of the best ideas for someone like me who forgets everything. Post it notes disappear along with to do lists. I need to set things visibly where I’ll remember to do what I’m supposed to do. Thank you. New subscriber.
I'm an Interior Architect specializing in optimizing Office environments for productivity, health and personal growth... and these are pretty much EXACTLY all the things I focus on! Great Video!
I would dearly enjoy seeing some videos showing you in action doing these workplace organization/productivity, along with your thought process thru the entire job.😊
I’d like to see some of your work!
How can I train my cat to sleep on my bed as a visual indication of the beds intended purpose? Yours does it so well 😂
Thank you for sharing your tips with us!
The tricks you share might be very valuable to a lot of people out there ❤
Thank you so much, I truly hope so!!
Dang! I do this too 😅. Leave journal on the bed so that it’s by my hand when I wake up. Leaving items I need to bring with me on the floor by the front door so that I’d have to step over them to get out of the house. I put a yellow cloth duster in every room so that I can clean without having to walk somewhere else to get the duster. Might be time to get tested for ADHD. 😅🤔
Such a healthy and practical approach... to work with how your brain works not against it.
Great video, lots of great tricks. I also rely on a lot of baskets and dividers to organize my stuff around the house. It is especially useful to keep shelves, cabinets and the fridge clean, because I can quickly take them out, wipe the shelves and put them back. Also, when there is a spill, it will usually be limited to the one basket, so I just take out the one basket and clean it instead of the entire content of the shelf.
Also something that almost everyone overlooks is to maximize cupboard space by adding shelves and inside. Cabinetry is sold and installed with few shelves inside, but there is usually room to add more. More shelves means more items can be stored at the front, instead of being buried at the back. Being able to see the stuff that I have is important for my ADHD brain, otherwise I will buy extra produce, or the stuff goes bad and I have to replace it.
I finally got trays for my spices. Why didn’t I do this sooner?
This video, your caring smile, and thoughtful words was perfect timing during a stressful Thanksgiving Day here in the US. 😂
Awww, Mark! Thank you!! And happy thanksgiving!! I hope you find some time to decompress and recover from the holiday 😂
Awww, this is just too good, thank you! Finally, some sound advice about NOT sitting in an office chair! They're the most strenuous, boring, unhealthy things that can be used for work! ❤
Yes make junk drawers part of organization instead of shameful is a game changer
If you kick yourself and mope for 3 days because you didn't have a place for everything and everything in it's place, then it's 1 step forward 10 steps back
But by being honest, kind and realistic with yourself and your team then you can capture more progress and have less backsliding and down time
This really helped me with writing
I have tons of really cluttered notes, I used to dress how could I possibly organize edit and actually make anything of my random thoughts
But then I started making junk folders
Not sure exactly where all these files go, but I know they go in fiction, those go in records, and these I'll put in the later box
Then later I can sure the fiction box into various stories I'm working on
Then I can start to combine and edit together scenes, notes, and sections
Another big part is avoiding rabbit holes
With a junk drawer I can avoid getting spread too thin
To clean a really messy room, I can fill a box with anything, and possibly have a separate box for things that will contaminate others, eg fluids, food, etc
If I have lots of boxes I can fill several boxes, and set up a sorting station,
I can set out 3 to 5 empty boxes/bags/options
Trash can, laundry, paperwork, dishes, junk drawer
I can keep going until a box is full and then grab a new empty box bag etc and fill another box from the raw boxes
Then I can take those sorts to their locations, or I can sort them into smaller categories etc
But by having boxes representing locations I'm not wandering around the house getting lost in thought and wasting time,
And with junk drawers I can avoid categorizing excessively, I can buckle down on each step with high intensity for a few minutes and I can scale up down in many directions and always have options to move out stay put and have options for helpers of working with a team, eg roommates, family, coworkers etc
For really basic sorts I use 3 categories raw junk, category x what I'm sorting out right now, and not category x,
Eg raw box, is box, isn't box
Repeat for each category
Really good way to keep things moving
Sounds silly but you'd be surprised how many times I've seen people get stuck in limbo by "doing less steps"
It can save time to do more sorts at once, but remember if you get bogged down or stuck gear down, lighten load, get traction, be more empathetic with the vehicle and the road, give it what it needs
If people treated their cars like our bodies
Many would see the car slowing down going uphill, gear up to "go faster", and give it less gas "as punishment",
I would really enjoy seeing your system in action in a yt video!
Did you smell your MacBook? How things smell are super important to me. I love using cleaning products that smell good. I open them in the store to see which one I like best. Like testing perfume lol
I would absolutely love to set my environment up to support me but usually have two both very visual & very noisy and persistent distractions hanging off my ankles shouting MUMMY MUMMY (and then if you include the cats and the boyfriend im doomed 😂)but i defo get the premise ❤
Thank you for all the videos you make! I really appreciate it. 🙂
That means a lot to me! Thank you so much! ☺️
yeah straws are a game changer
Yes I need a standing desk and that treadmill! What a genius idea!
What adhd planet are you on 😂 I'm cluttered all the time Amd I sleep 90% of my life getting what done I'm lucky if I get dinner done
Decluttering is the key, because if you’ve got no stuff you’ve got no mess 😍 I’ve been decluttering fir 7 years and I can finally see the end 😄 there’s still loads to do but I’m getting very close to finishing
Same
I am on your planet 😊
Get rid of your stuff! It saved me
@@autumn5852... "fir"? Seriously?
Where did you go to school?
Fir is a type of tree, not a replacement for the word 'for'.
I am now officially addicted to this channel. Thank you.
Yes, the magical MacBook 😂😂. Thank you so much for this video, very inspiring. Btw, I have never regretted my adjustable standing desk. 😊
Thank you!!
It truly is magical OMG 😂 every time software malfunctions or there's some form of interruption to my work, there's a chance I'll start doing something else and not finish. So the fact that this laptop runs SMOOTH like butter 😍 .. probably cannot be overstated!
And SO cool you have a desk too! You might want to try the walking pad some day, just saying 😄
@@AntoniasUniverse noooo, I’m overspending too much 😂😂! Yes, tech has to run smoothly or else: R.I.P. task!
This is one of the most useful videos I've seen on this topic so far, congratulations.
There's one thing I wouldn't want to leave unmentioned: the power of whiteboards that hang in plain sight and literally remind you of important things every day.
Very good Video Antonia! Love your diagram about the All or nothing! and your parking spaces hack! I'm going to start working on my spaces right away!
Awww, you !! Thank you so much for your kind support! 🫶🏻
Thanks! this is really helpful, and your video quality is good, visually and straight to the point .
Little suggestions, please put lists summary at the end of the video.
thats why my 10 different necessary meds are all played out over my desk and i have a 1.5L water bottle on my desk and anything i need too, got my full diagnosis and am just browsing for things other people do that i might be able to adopt too, i have duplicates of EVERYTHING i desperately need, like sunglasses, meds boxes and lipbalms so many lip balms... also, toilet/kitchen rolls EVERYWHERE, perfect for any immediate spills or little accidents with my furbabies or clumsy old me or rarely my husband
thank you. good job at improving your content creations
After a burn out, so... almost no money, I had to live in a flat, then, I could find a small house. Ater 10 years trying to get better, I finally found a big house, cheap to rent. So came the miracle. In this house I have all the space I need to move (actually, just the minimum I need... 100M2). Just to have space and stairs, my body started to move and do. The house is 3 or 4 times bigger, but I do much more cleaning than before. I can change where to work ten times a day. Sometimes I just go up and down the stairs just for fun. (I have only 5 minutes break between the lessons I give, not time to go to teh forest, but time to take a shower, or up and down the stairs or have a nap (without clothes), or play piano, or meditate... all those things that I couldn't do working in other places.
Haha I have my guitars and painting out in plain sight. 1. Works 2. Seem Adhd have 10x more hobbies on average
Parking space! Genius!
Thanks for this. It really clarifys some of the things that i sort of knew, but hadnt clarified, and why some things lately havent been working quite the way I want.
I like crafting, but my craft space is also my computer desk space, so i have to entirely clean up one to do the other and it has led to the crafts being untouched and out of sight for weeks!
Looking at "adhd" videos, I saw that I was not alone to have a special relationship with the "agenda book". I just changed 3 months ago : Now, i allow me to buy OFTEN new agenda. i buy small ones, but , if possible, beautiful. As beautiful as they are, the effect you speak about in the video disappear very soon. So, no problem, I buy another one. I stopped to want to find the perfect way to do my to do list. My perfect way is TO CHANGE as often as I need my way to write my notes and things I must note.
best hack of the year is to keep the lid off the kitchen bin, so you can just chuck rubbish straight in
Oh, me too! Although that’s also because my sore back doesn’t like bending down, and those foot pedal bins never seem to work.
Yes!! I have a huge can from Amazon. It only has a large hole and no lid.
Love it
Drill several holes, from the inside, around the bottom of the trashcans near the floor. Then put bug control in the bottom before putting the trashbag in. The holes will make it MUCH easier to remove the bag, and the holes will encourage the bugs to go in & feast on the bug control stuff.
😉 yer welcome
I do this 😂
Got myself a standing desk and next month I'll get the treadmill thing! It's such a good idea honestly :) I am gonna take this advice and try and make my home a lot more ADHD friendly :)
My mum asked why I needed 20 water bottles. It's because that way I'll always pass a bottle and drink from it
I have been diagnosed since the early 2000s. I do agree that having things out will help you use them. Problem is with me anyway, I love doing so many things that I have things out everywhere so I can get to them :D. Then I end up with choice paralysis on what I want to do. I am amazed that you are such a minimalist. I admire that! :)
Thank you for sharing your tips!
Have you looked into authentic Montessori organization? The classrooms are well designed with stations, and tools for activities are grouped together on a tray that can easily be removed from the shelf for use in another location (table, floor, etc.). It does require more space because you can’t store supplies for six activities in one drawer, but then you’ll know which activities truly matter to you.
"Choice paralysis" is a for real thing.
It's actually painful trying to make decisions.
I've been thinking of getting a standing desk for a while. I have a sofa in my office and quite often I work on my phone just cause I can be stretched instead of seated.
Nice and simple tips, thankyou for your content :) you're a calming person to listen to as well, which helps even more when you're depressed about being in a rut and need to be kind to ourselves, take a breath and baby steps.
Thank you so much ❤️
I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and taking it slow! I feel like ruts are often caused by overwhelm and stress and it's really hard to get out of them while you're still in that headspace...
My solution is often to lower my expectations (sadly). How can we expect neurotypical levels of "progress" anyway? It is what it is, ADHD is tough... 😔
What truly matters is that we take care of ourselves and enjoy life as much as possible, so I'm sending you lots of good vibes and strength! You deserve to feel happy and confident ❤️
@@AntoniasUniverse .. i just love your last paragraph. 🥰
@@briannab5296 Naww ❤of course!
Sre you a mind reader? 😂 been doing this for many years, even have a lot of the same things and reasoning behind them, like the treadmill, adjustable desk, containers to drop stuff... but I never thought about it as a system, just survival mechanisms. Thanks, it all became much more clear now.
Thankyou Antonia. This is really helpful x
oh hell. i feel called out here. i've always needed to see things to use them constantly, but i have a messy nature.
Every idea in this video is amazingly applicable, such a game changer, thank you!
Yay, I’m so happy to hear it! ❤️
I definitely love your table that we can change the height. I need that... For the chocolate and the water, I found that alone, 30 years before to know that I had ADHD. But really, yes, it's a must. For the "garage box"... yes of course.... but it's hard for me to consider that "done".
Glad these ideas work for you. They could not work for me, and i could not even implement them. If I was capable of setting things up like this I would not need the help.😅
🙏😊Omg, thank you for this!!! Brilliant ideas. So glad I found your channel. Subscribed!
Great tips, thank you :)
Helpful video, thank you!
So good! Amazing advice. And good editing! ‘Knee crack!’ 😂
most tips i do already. great video
I share your sentiment on “don’t put it down, put it away.” 🤣🤣🤣
Great video Antonia! 🙌🏻
I'm liking the parking spaces & garage, and your adorable beautiful cat!! Where are you from, i cant quite place your lovely accent.
When I clicked the link for the desk timer it didn't work. Any idea where I can find the timer you use? It looks awesome!
omg please tell me where u got that nature journal from, i love it!
It's from matabooks! I hope they will have some you love this year too!
Thank u so much x

Thank you Ruby! I use premiere pro 😄

So enjoyed this!!

great vids! Thanks you
I've unconsciously done most of these hacks. Yikes.
Good luck with this to anybody who is a maximalist! 😅
Yes... true 😄 I cut out a bit in the beginning where I mention that decluttering is kind of essential for all of these. 🫣

The camera movement is making me seasick.
The 8 glasses of water is only true for large people who are moving all day (they actually need even more). If you are a small person or sedentary and it is not hot where you are, oh also age has a lot to do with it, young people absorb water they drink better than older people, then you many not need that much water and it is just draining your body of minerals and sending you to the bathroom too often. Find the amount you need to feel good and healthy (even if you don't feel thirsty, if you are stiff and sore it could be a clue, or you skin is dry or you are not alert). Once you figure out what you need on a normal day (it could be 4 or 5 glasses) and drink that, increasing it when it is hot or you are more active. This woman drinking two litters is actually too much.
❤

Get things you want to use out and put them somewhere prominent. Cool. I have ADHD, I want to do all the things. That’s going to turn into a huge mess pretty quickly.
Product placement in this vid is less than subtle.
and now i need go to shop and buy nutella :)

what is the name of that treadmill at 4:58?
I linked it in the description! ❤️
ahhh nice I must have missed it. Unfortunately I cannot find it in any store here in brazil :(

No cap
Our grandmothers never drank water.
Yes, they did!
They kept a metal water ladle that they hung on the wall over the kitchen sink. ALL of us would catch water in it either from the faucet or a designated water bucket, drink it then hang the ladle back up.
We even kept water jugs in the fridge and all of us would grab a quick sip from it, and Heaven help whoever drank the last drop and didnt refill it!
We all survived healthy & happy ... but nowadays i wouldnt dare drink after anyone else!
Sharing our drinks is like sharing toothbrushes! 😂
🤦 P r o m o s m
🤓👍
The constant change of background was alot for me. Yikes!
The thing is that you don't have to drink water if you are not thirsty
People with ADHD can have trouble with noticing the sensations in their body such as hunger and thirst so having an external cue to drink water can be helpful
I'm too poor to follow those advices
Woow apple fan fiction ^^ haha Almost getting sensual with it.
Good content though! Alot of this I already use.
I just put a plant on my desk as a mindfullness reminder.
