I agree, pretty much everything you talked about is something that happened to me. I started working out far more, i lost alot of weight (30kg) in 4 months, routines work, sleep work (never had a proper sleep routine), less distractions, less garbage chatter, less appetite. Walking was a big one, started walking 2 hours a day. More productive, calmer, fitter. For me it was a miracle drug.

Reminder everyone: Everyone responds to meds differently. And it’s ok to take your pills! 🤗
I am more on the “severe” end of adhd. My entire life turned around since going on Vyvance. I had a high tolerance out the gate, and continue to take it as prescribed.
It has changed my life and helped me go sober. Don’t overthink it. If it works for you, keep going 👍 I love positive reviews like this. Too many people trying to stigmatize the drug.
I suffered far too long for 25 years without it.
Pros: I fall asleep at 9pm every night. Anxiety is almost entirely gone. I no longer abuse substances. I can focus and I no longer feel agitated. I can do simple tasks like laundry, or choose not to do it without being overwhelmed. I can simply function.
Negatives: A lot of of the Internet saying ADHD doesn’t exist. It is truly a miracle for me.

Adderall literally made me completely sober too. Went from complete functional alcoholic working at home as a software engineer having beers while coding to try to calm my mind. I was smoking weed, taking mushrooms, drinking A LOT. I didn't realize my drug use stemmed from SEEKING very hard some form of stimulation in my life constantly. And the side effects of drinking with it I do not like. I don't even get high anymore when I smoke weed. The Adderall makes that impossible lol. As my brain is already high enough I guess. Mushrooms, I thought, were the cure. But it turned out all they did was give me the same relief adderall does for a few days due to the whole surge of dopamine and serotonin during a trip. I already hate the side effects enough and have found my way to prevent those with good meals, lots of water and almond milk. So now, I have no urge to do ANY of those things anymore and is no longer fun which is a good thing. PERFECT!

Let me preface this with the facts that I’m pairing this with anxiety ADHD coaching and anxiety meds (many people with ADHD also have anxiety).
On my second month now and there’s been substantial improvements in my performance, relationships and mental health.
      Specifically:
      1. I don’t binge eat anymore
      2. I procrastinate less/ initiate task with greater ease
      3. I’m less impulsive, much more likely to pause between feeling and acting
      4. Anxiety meds: makes emotions appear less urgent/ over-bearing so that I can proactively choose my priorities rather than have my amygdala dictate them
Those are the ones I notice/ appreciate most. Hope this helps. It’s a battle!

For me it takes about an hour to kick in, but peaks after 2/3 hours and last about 7/8 hours (I think).
Honestly, it’s subtle for me. I’m on the minimum dosage, but u find it easier to measure it based on performance rather than feeling. I’m a student, I’m married, and I have severe anxiety. I see substantial improvements in those areas since taking it alongside coaching and anxiety meds.

However, I've been terrified to start my meditation. I tend to have anxiety worrying about possible side effects. Especially since I've been so sensitive to antidepressants. However, I also know that I can't keep struggling like this, and my children aren't getting the best of me. I've had Concerta 18mg sitting here for a couple of months. I believe I need to start it!

Since taking it now for 8 months , I have been able to quit taking antidepressants, anti anxiety meds and I’ve quit a cigarette and pot addiction I’ve had since I was 12. I’m not over exaggerating in the slightest when I say it’s changed my life. The best part is, I’m a way calmer and less stressed mom which there aren’t words to describe the gratitude. I discovered this year that I have ADHD and began treatment with Ritalin. I can relate to the feelings you expressed. It’s tough to be like this, but now I feel like I’ve had a “eureka” moment. Many things I used to do, and still do, now make sense. I’m 27 years old and in my third year of medical school. In Brazil, we have to pass an entrance exam to get into university, and it took me six years of trying and hating myself because I couldn’t achieve my goals.
I know I’m just beginning the treatment, but I feel like someone I’ve always wanted to be but thought I could never be. It’s fantastic to sit down and study. On the first day I tried Ritalin, I was able to do something that used to be horrible for me: sit, read something, and understand it with focus without needing to read it again. It’s one of the best feelings of my life. I feel confident, certain, and attentive. I understand it’s just the beginning, but I feel like the best days of my life have just begun.

I was failing my law topics and was almost kicked out, I couldn't work out why because I was working so hard... Like so hard... I got into law school so I knew I wasn't stupid... I was diagnosed as a child but never treated. When I transferred out of law into medical science I made the appointment to get myself treated after 6 months of thinking it could very well be the reason and alas it was. Getting treatment was an honest life saver at that point. Now my GPA is almost at the competitive score I need for Medical School entry.

oh my fucking GODS this is the bane of my life, i either have the same song ALL DAY, or it's a different song every hour, either way it's like being forced to listen to an endless playlist that you can't pause/stop at all for the whole day ... every day ...every week .... :(
Listening to this medication address that issue alone sounds like it's worth the price of admission o.O

Yes, you are right! We did have some shortages in larger cities I believe, but in my small city it's a little less competitive. Nice to see your update and hear the positive impact it has. I thought a few weeks ago, haven’t seen an update from her.
I’m still trying out different meds, currently on Elvanse 30mg but that feels to low. Other then that its a life changer for me. My biggest issues are still the staying up late, late night snacking and late night gaming sessions 😅. Greetings from Mecklenburg!!!

I hear you mate. I'm on 30mg Elvanse too and it feels too low (going to switch to 40mg) but it's definitely had a positive impact on my life. I too struggle with late night gaming sessions haha. I found if I consistently get up early like 7am and fill my day I became too tired to game late at night when the meds wear off even if my gaming friends nag me lol. It's hard to break life long habits!!! I like to see the medication as an assisting tool and not a magic pill so that way I don't feel dissapointed early and also to remind myself that the hard work starts now!
      Good luck dude 🙂

Hi. I love watching all your videos. I'm 30 yrs / Male from India, I'm also suffering from ADHD since my childhood but I was diagnosed 1 month ago. My psychiatrist prescribed me methylphenidate 20mg SR once a day for 15 days. It was good ( I was able to lose weight from 112 kg to 108 kg in 15 days & I also had reduced appetite, focus and concentration power was a little bit good but i didn't notice any huge improvement. I had body ache on the 1st day. He said me to come again after 2 weeks and I did. The 2nd visit he gave wellbutrin - Bupropion 150mg. I was depressive and down all times, Which is worst compared to methylphenidate - Inspiral 20mg SR. I told him Bupropion was not working for me. He asked me to bring my parents tomorrow regarding my disorder. Even being a adult is it required to bring my parents for interrogation. Is this how every psychiatrists work everywhere ? By the way how's that working for you over there in ur place ? Just asking out of curiosity. Thanks in advance.

More focus and energy too, which is a good thing.

Thank you! Could you or anyone explain why: if the medication doesnt build up in our bodies like SSRIs etc do, then how do the side effects go away over time? Had an unexpectedly wonderful first day on elvanse 30mg (I never tolerate pervious meds well, cant have caffeine or choc due to migraines etc but on todays first dose I felt - calm, not rushed, less mental chatter and didn't feel overstimulated like normal... no headache which i thoight I'd get, just a heavy feeling in my chest 12 or so hours after taking it, which is concerning me but could be the anxiety coming back as it’s wearing off... I tried to enjoy it today, and I did. I felt well rested like after having a two week holiday - functioning and not battling my own brain was life changing.

    • @AntoniasUniverse
      @AntoniasUniverse  4 месяца назад

Hey! I just read a study on that which was cited on additude.com and basically the gist of it was: yes, it does affect the heart, yes it's negatively.. BUT!! The lifestyle changes that medication causes are ABUNDANT and therefore the long term effect in the study showed no negative consequences for the subjects, as they were just living much healthier lives in general.
One of the doctors that did a 16 year study on 600 kids said: “The risk from stimulant use is basically less than the risk of being obese, of having sleep problems, and less than the risk of not getting regular exercise. So, if you’re thinking, what is the risk of cardiovascular disease? By far, obesity is worse than years of exposure to stimulants.”

I wish I could get my doc to prescribe a stimulant, or at least something like modafinil/armodafinil which don’t have all the drug scheduling issues like true stimulants (I’m in the US.) He’s adamant on only using non-stimulants despite me having no history of substance abuse/legal problems/psychosis/heart issues etc.
So right now I’m on atomoxetine (Straterra) 40mg and bupropion XL (Wellbutrin XL) 450mg. Admittedly I’ve only been on the atomoxetine 2 weeks, but so far all it’s seemed to do is crank my sweating way up, which in turn raises my anxiety due to embarrassment. Like my hair is wet when I wake up from sleeping despite it being winter and the temperature of the house being at 66F at night.
The bupropion also gives me tremors which is quite embarrassing when doing labs in my chemistry classes in college where I have to use fine motor movements with a partner watching. Sometimes it’s so bad you’d think I’d have Parkinson’s.
