Honestly out of all the battery grips canon has made this one is definitely one that looks like was made by a designer. Everything looks so nice and fits nicely with the design language of the camera
I created an update covering the additions which the v1.1.0 BG-E22 firmware brought. Thanks for letting me know about this: ruclips.net/video/UM4GPNAqwSg/видео.html
Absolutely. That's why everything on for me is Arca Swiss (all tripods, gimbals, and even the phone tripod holder). It's a unified system and means I never unscrew any tripod plates.
Thank you for all that helpful information. I do coincidentally have a couple of Peak Design straps, although am still getting accustomed to them. Without the grip, the EOS R feels a lot lighter than my 5D3 and I'm not sure I want to sacrifice the weight loss advantage, especially when I also have to factor in the lens adapter when EF lenses are involved. But it does look a really serious camera when the grip is attached!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The grip does make it a lot bulkier and also heavier. But I have not really noticed it. It's however, extremely nice to handle the camera this way when taking portrait photos. The one thing I find a bit of a struggle is reaching the screen for focus point adjustments.
Nice video :) I bought my R with the original grip included, i'm very surprised to see most of the photographers on RUclips don't have a grip, it's great to use !
That's awesome. I think most people would prefer the smaller form factor. And all things considered the original grip is also 200€ extra (if you don't happen to get a good deal). But I agree. The simplicity to be able to just take those vertical shots is really a game changer.
@@Fifthimagez I'm mostly doing model shoots and i like the grip especially for the portrait shots, so if you don't have one, try it, you will not be disappointed :)
Thanks for the video, sadly my genuine 2 batteries are not charging in grip :( Any idea why? Been trying to turn on and off the camera and nothing.. they charge fine in the body but not in grip FW is up to date
maybe it s a bit late to answer but .. It didn't work for me either and I found out how to proceed. Plug the usb on the grip , then turn the camera on wait for the charge light , and then turn it off It worked for me
You can use pretty much any charger to charge the batteries. But you can only charge the batteries when the camera is turned off (no power over USB while shooting).
@@ChrisSpiegl Hey thanks for the fast reply, thats fine its just a hassle to get all the batteries out and chrage them seperate, i just switched from a 6dmii to the R and my grip is coming tomorrow. Would be nice to charge it in the grip when not using it.
@@jesper2129 Yap, that definitely works. Just one battery after the other. Make sure to see if the Grip has the correct firmware cause with the old firmware offbrand batteries did not charge.

Great investment especially if your shooting for 6+ hrs straight. Those who have big hands are going to fall in love with this.
Thanks... very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Charging now works with firmware 1.1.0 from Canon. On original and aftermarket LP-E6N and LP-E6NH.
That's a cool update. I'll have to check that out, where did you find that update?

This paired with the pro media gear L bracket is a perfect combination!
I'm still watching your channel
That's incredible, hello there 🌸.
Just wanted to say the peak design capture clip is also arca swiss compatible!

@@ChrisSpiegl I bought the combo at a camera store, used for 3 months for only €1550, so that was a pretty good deal 😉
@@BoxerTys Absolutely, sounds like a steel. Congrats. Can we see your work somewhere? IG for example?
I don’t have a grip considering about ordering one tonight

How so you know when the batteries are full charged what light indicator is there?
I don't fully remember (don't have the battery grip anymore). But I think they either turn green or turn off when full.
super brow
Thank you
is it worth buying cheaper aliexpress?
What is the backround hiss or fan in your audio? (Listening with DT990 headphones) might be just me.
I hear it too now that you mentioned it. It's probably the fan of my Atomos or MacBook Pro 🙈.

I've been looking for some good aftermarket batteries for my grip. Which ones do you have?
I am using the Baxter LP-E6NH batteries (red ones).
I have only gotten them a month ago though.
Does it work with a generic USB-c charger or do you need the propiertary from canon?

Details for the strap please !
My strap is from PeakDesign but an older model. There are new ones made by them though.
@@ChrisSpiegl Thanks 🙏
Now it weighs like an R3. 😂
Correct, but it also (almost) handles like an R3 and that's amazing.
