Hey Patrick!! I would definitely recommend the R. Canon is announcing the R5 and R6 next month, and while both of them will be more expensive than the R, there's always the chance their release could lower the R's price (although that's pure speculation, and I don't know if it's worth actually waiting for). Long story long, yes I recommend the R 100%.

They both seem like outstanding cameras. I’m very interested in the R5, but nervous about the price. I don’t think it’s in my budget, but if it were, I’d love to have an R5 and my R as a power duo. I used to not care about 4K very much, but now that it’s 2020, having full frame 4K sounds terrific. The only downside is that the new memory cards for the R5 are really expensive.
Agreed! I feel like the R and R5 will be a perfect match. The ability to shoot 120/1080p will be awesome as well and having IBIS for run and gun shooting will be a great addition as well. Hopefully we will get some news on July 9th!
6:57 You must like blurred background. It is a little bit hard to do that with digital cameras, they tend to keep everything in focus especially on Auto focus.
Unfortunately the 30 minute limit is baked in to the camera. The only real way around it is to use an external recorder of some kind. The Atomos Ninja is a super popular choice, but also very expensive. Another option is to use something like the Elgato CamLink to run the camera into your computer and then you can use an app like Ecamm or OBS to record. Just keep the camera powered on in standby mode and the only limit will be how much hard drive space you have. 👍
Great video. Thanks for sharing. How did you display the camera settings on the display monitor? I've connected the EOS R to a field monitor but it doesn't display the settings. It only shows video. But when I click on the menu button, it does show the menu on the monitor. I appreciate your help.
The Sony ZV-1 with a "normal" flip out screen has me hopefully that Sony may have seen the light and will start bringing them to the higher end models.
My shutter stays at either 1/50 (24fps) or 1/60 (30fps) during streams, and I do like to keep my aperture wide open, but that's 100% just a personal style preference.
Question for ya, are you sure about the 1/100th shutter speed when you shoot at 60fps? I would think it would be 1/120th because it's double your 60fps. Just like when we shoot 1/50th on a DSLR for 24fps because DSRLs don't have a 1/48th setting (48 being double 24) so the 1/50th setting is the closest we have to 1/48th. Thanks, great video!
11:49 I believe that is where you can actually Format the Card. Doing so will erase everything on the card. In the past you would buy a SD card and to use it in your camera you would have to format the card to your camera's file format. It is still the easiest way to erase a SD card.
