Every second packed value. You covered everything I was needing answered PLUS tips that I found useful that I never really caught myself doing. Example making the auto magnify 4x instead of auto 2x. I always zoom in too to check sharpness and focus but never realized how annoying that is until you pointed it out. 😂

Very good video Finally, I see a fairly accurate description of the canon eos R control before making a purchase, and I see that this is a really simple menu for quick operation, which I'm used to at Canon with DSLRs.

the trash button already bring back the focus point to the center
Saw something interesting on DPReview forums: they locked their fn-bar with the lock button and only used it to setup settings that don't affect the picture: left/right/swipe -> level/histogram/magnification. That actually sounds pretty useful to me and can be modified with peaking or similar things.
Maybe that will help others interested in this camera and it's an option that most reviewers glance over when disabling it outright.

With the EOS R6 and R5 coming out, the prices of the R may go down significantly, i'm picking up another R over the r6 or r5 because my main focus is photos not video. i shoot video for fun and the 1080P is enough for me. The R files are so lovely. The one memory card slot doesnt bother me, luckily for me i've never had a card fail on me, but i also carry spare cards just in case.

hi...great video...I Use Touchbar for White balance - K / M-F bar safety lock - Disable / Full Cover setting ON & Add it to Multi - Fn lock. lock it after setting proper kelvin to avoid accidental touchs.

Love your settings will definitely be using a few. Also not sure if you knew but the trash can button also resets the focus box . Just in case you wanted another button to free up for something else

Hi Mitch - I can really recommend the control ring adapter for EF lens (ISO) on the EOSR
Really helpful. I’ve had mine for a year and hate it. It’s my own fault. Now I’m digging into settings
I have had mine for a year, too. I thought I was the only one that HATED it, I only used it a few times. Since, my 5D needs to go in to the shop, I am going to give it another try. When the 5D is in the shop my choice is this or the 7D. I figure the R cannot be as bad as the 7D.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've had my R since December, and I've tried several different functions, none of which I really liked. Currently I have it assigned to change AF methods. Will see how that works. Mitch's idea of using the focus point button is a great one; I may have to try that.

What I also setup, DoF preview set to Record button. In photo mode. It does not influence the record function in video mode, do I found this useful as I often use my EF 85 1.2 lense
How to shoot the blurry photos using Eos R
At first I was disappointed that you can't set the shutter button to start movie recording on the Customize buttons option (Custom Functions page 4). The shutter button is more intuitive than the movie button in my opinion. However, if you select a movie shooting mode, you can go to Set Up page 4, and there is an option to set functions for a shutter half-press and full-press, including starting movie recording. Why this isn't in the customize buttons screen is beyond me, but I'm glad it's there; the shutter is easier to use than the movie record button, which is on top of the camera.
If this tutorial was for video settings I would have included that! Thanks for leaving it here :)
@@MitchLally It's kind of hidden, so I figured others may find it helpful. Like I said, the shutter button is so much easier to shoot video, since your finger is there anyway.

Awesome video mate, quick question can you set the 1.6x crop to a button as a shortcut in case you want that extra reach in a shoot?
I’m assuming you mean for video? The crop mode? In that case no you can’t you need to enter the menu to do it. It’s also only available in 24/25/30p I believe.

How long it takes for download photos in RAW + jpg's? to me is 2 minutes per pair, Is that possible? if I have 350 pics per day it take me 700 minutes!!! WHY? Is there any way to download faster than that?

Ciao Mitch . Copliments for the video ( i have the EOSR + 24/105RF F4) Have you tried the new R6? if so, what do you think about it? The image quality is better than its own R ; The settings are easier in relation to the R; The overheating is also present in R6 ? They will fix it with a firmware ? Its time to go in R6 or wait any firmware or a new R MII ?

When you shoot raw does it work when u put it in lightroom? i read reviews that it doesn't.
Off topic: Why is not possible to find one "Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R" in all off Europe stores? (Amazon.com, Italy, Germany, Spain all of other several stores, even in Canon stores) Any sugestions?(Strange)
There's a huge shortage as a lot of people are upgrading to mirrorless - we have the same issue here in Australia. There are a few other brands who have created EF to RF mounts though!

I hate it when cameras get functions locked when the hardware can handle it.
It'll be great if 1. Allow focus changes with 1 button. 2. Allow eye focus af and af with separate buttons like Sony
One doubt that I always had with mirroless cameras, is that: Can you leave your screen to show only the settings? Not using in "liveview" mode, just using the viewfinder?? if someone can help me. I never had a chance to play with mirroless cameras
Yes you can just by pressing the info button

This is the "top rated" response for "changing shutter speed on Canon EOS R." Unfortunately, it's a 14-minute tutorial on programming buttons. All I want to f-ing do is find the button that lets me change the shutter speed without earning a degree in programming. Is that too much to ask?
