Thanks so much for making this video! I just got the EOS R and 35 mm lens today, so I can't wait to rewatch this tomorrow and go through my settings :)
If u haven't done a video on use and setup of time laps, i would like to know your recommendations & use of the time laps features. Does camera save the images in a video file? Your shooting tips for night shots is helpful too.
Thank you for the video, great little features! DO you know if EOS R is compatible with remote control RC-6 and how to fit it? Or may be there is another option to take self-portraits?
hi, I often see that although this camera has a large display, there are black frames around the edges, but when viewing photos and menus you use the entire screen area, how did you do this? Please answer me
Yes Helpful! My EOS R seems to automatically change the exposure/brightness even when i have all the settings locked in manual. Annoying. I need to figure out why it does that.
@@AndyFeliciotti yes...I'm recording video...I think someone said I'm not in video mode... I did what they said... Maybe that fixed the problem. I don't understand how it records video in photo mode...I guess for timelapses 🤔
@@SoJesusChristMusic If you hit record while in video mode it'll hope to custom 3 setting, I'd recommend going to manual video mode for full manual video. Your custom 3 video setting may be automatic.
@@AndyFeliciotti I had my iso, shutter, and aperture locked in manual but the exposure seemed to somehow still be moving...only after I pressed record. The image was perfectly set until I hit by record... That's crazy how the R records video if people are saying it's not in video mode. I know Canon changed certain things about the R that are different than the other R versions. It's like if they're was experimenting trying to incorporate something new just to see how people liked it... And it's confusing.. Plus the paper manual that comes with it is very little help. I leaned more off RUclips than I did from the manual...
It’s become a bigger thing with new Mirrorless cameras, it’s pretty easy if you look it up. Typically it’s putting a file on an SD card and letting the camera read it.
I agree. Good info, but I have to stop, back and fw again - many, many times. Just sayin', on your next videos, talk a bit slower - mind we want to follow and make the settings on our cameras. IMHO.

Thanks for watching! If you have any camera questions feel free to ask in the comments 👍
I just recently customized my menu and didn't realize how much I needed it. It saves so much time!
Haha the format card in favorites is my most used option probably 😂

Good work! Big EOS R Fan here. Keep up the work! Subbed
Awesome to hear Tony! Same here! And thank you for the sub 💪
So many good tips, thanks! Watched and rewatched... saved for later too. The background noise was distracting. Hopefully you didn’t pay to add noise.
Thank you! This was really helpful 👍
Glad it was helpful!
great video! very helpful I just got my EOS R and I'm setting it!
P.S. where did you get that amazing lamp? thank you!
Thanks Riccardo! You can find the lamp here kit.co/someguy/andy-feliciotti-complete-gear-kit/haitral-industrial-d
I hope you enjoy the camera!
Andy Feliciotti thanks
Great Video. Quick and to the point. How do you map a button for the display to be auto or manual?

Oh I like this idea Coley! I’ll work on a Timelapse guide!
Thanks, useful stuff.
Glad to help Coley!
Hello Andy, thanks for this video. I would like ti know how to update the firmware
I made a guide here that should help ihitthebutton.com/canon-firmware-update/
@@AndyFeliciotti thanks
thank you

I believe that remote doesn't work with the EOS R, sounds like you can use the BR-E1 Canon remote or just set a 10 second timer for a self-portrait.
Thank you @@AndyFeliciotti , I have downloaded Canon Camera Connect App and will try to use it :-) The BR-E1 Canon remote is also a good idea 👍

In the video I am using an overlay for the parts that show the screen so likely it's just my editing

Are the settings exactly the same for each shot?
I would check the exif of each shot to ensure the settings match, in manual you can still have auto ISO on.

Amazing grazie
Why every time I choose RAW and turn camera off it goes back to jpeg when turned back on?
Are you using a custom mode?
@@AndyFeliciotti I believe I was. Now I changed it to Manual and settings seem to stay.
Why not use the viewfinder?
Just personally preference at the time (I actually keep it on with my R5) but it’s good that people are aware of the option
How do you get to the video settings?
You should be able to by switching to video mode and then opening the menu
❤
you skipped over that update firmware pretty fast lol ive been a photographer for 8 years and NEEEEVER updated anything lol how do i do that?

The official site has it, I would only recommend getting it from Canon’s site.

Dude, you are going over a lot of good info here, but you are going thru it way to fast to follow!
Sorry about that Steve! check out the article for an easier break down of the settings :)
Where is the article located?

I'll try to slow it down next time!
