I did a brief Google search and couldn't find a mention of being able to disable it. While not exhaustive, my search leads me to think you can't. Sorry! Was this an issue for you - like bumping the wheel inadvertently while using the EOS R with the grip? Or something else?
I bought the BG-E22 earlier this week for my EOS R, which itself is only two weeks old. I shoot lots of portraits, so all my cameras have grips, if they are available. Love the improved handling of the EOS R with the addition of the grip! I think $250 is a fair price for it, as well.

Hi James - I hear you and feel your frustration. Does the green light on the battery charger come on and the batteries do not charge? Or does the green charging light not come on at all? I have had the frequent experience that the battery charger has two LPE6Ns that I know are low on charge and I plug in the grip only to find the green light won't come on. I've been successful to get the green light to gone on and charging to begin by repeating the process of inserting the battery tray, turning the on/off switch again and waiting a few seconds to see if the light comes on. I feel like the battery grip works if you follow a specify sequence of inserting the tray, turning the charging switch etc. The problem is that it seems inconsistent to me and I can't nail down what the exact steps are. I will do some more tests and see if I can figure it out. Sometimes I feel like the switch should be "on" when you insert the battery tray and sometimes I feel like it should be "off" then tray inserted, then turned on. Absolutely loved the information. I want one. Format critique: Background music was way too loud and distracting. Near the end when you showed how to mount the adapter the sound affects were bizarrely awful everytime a point came up. I was sold on the product but had to stop watching. I've watched enough of your videos and never noticed these issues before. Just some feedback for what is otherwise always intelligent and appreciated content. Thank you.
It's definitely pricey! A single battery charger from Canon is $50. Lately, I've been using the battery grip to charge two batteries at once after filming all morning, which we've been doing every day at my work. It is useful to have that ability. And, another small benefit, it doesn't take up two outlets to charge two batteries, if outlet space is limited. These benefits are more of the luxury side rather than necessity. I do agree with you - it's pricey.
Please tone down the sound effects. Great job humiliating David L. - that'll teach him to disagree with you. Is he still a "beautiful and good person?"

Hi Mark Wahlberg !!!
Hey!
Thank you.
Thank you for watching, and for the comment. I'll review the video and make notes based on your feedback for the future. I appreciate the comment.
You're a beautiful person too! Sub.
Nope, not at the current price.
I hear you - it may be only a fit for those who shoot long events, especially with a lot of portraits.
the popup sounds are annoying, just a tip not trying to be an ass just helping
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.

The grip is overpriced
It's definitely pricey! A single battery charger from Canon is $50. Lately, I've been using the battery grip to charge two batteries at once after filming all morning, which we've been doing every day at my work. It is useful to have that ability. And, another small benefit, it doesn't take up two outlets to charge two batteries, if outlet space is limited. These benefits are more of the luxury side rather than necessity. I do agree with you - it's pricey.
Please tone down the sound effects. Great job humiliating David L. - that'll teach him to disagree with you. Is he still a "beautiful and good person?"
Thank you for the feedback.
Great video. Ignore his comment. Obviously he cant take a joke
Do the 2 batteries come with it?
Good question - no, they do not.
@@WesKriesel So all is to be done is to buy and extra battery?
