Unchained Melody - 10/10 You should check out their song "You Lost That Lovely Feeling." Fun Fact: one of the members sung "I Had the Time of My Life" for Dirty Dancing in the '80s.
PMH Bobby Hatfield, singer here was very nervous because his mother was in the audience during his singing. He and his singing partner, Bill Medley were on a variety TV show called Andy Williams Show.
Oh Mona, when I saw you reacted to this, I could hardly wait to see your facial expressions to the late, great Bobby Hatfield's voice. You did not disappoint!
I'm an old school Crooner and I dream of a woman reacting, like you just did, every time I sing... Your emotions are Beautiful and Breathtaking! I was once working on a customer's house and I sang "When I Fall in Love" a Capella, just to pass the time, and a woman yelled out... "Will You Marry Me!!!" . I couldn't help laughing and replying "I'll be here all week! Lol I'm simply addicted to touching hearts...
Glad you enjoyed this so much. Bobby Hatfield was one of the greatest singers ever. When he teams up with Bill Medley the other brother they sing such greats as You lost that Loving Feeling, Soul and Inspiration, For once in my Life, Little Latin Lupe LU and they were on 🔥 Fire doing Night Time is the Right Time. Best success on yr channel!
I am 81 and have heard several artists before Bobby’s version and several after. No one comes close to this, Bobby owns it. This version came out as I was headed for Viet Nam. You can feel the loneliness in the words and the way we felt as we were away from our families for one long year. Bill and Bobby always did one solo on each of their albums and while on tour. They both wanted to do “Unchained”, so they flipped a coin. The music was written as the theme for the little-known prison film “Unchained” (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers. The movie “Unchained” is about a man in prison and longing for his wife and children. Hoping his wife will still be there when he gets out. So you can now understand the meaning of the song. The movie was not very good, or so my friends told me. But we were all teenagers so what did we know. Several artists sang it and it made the billboard top 100. But no one can come close to Bobby Hatfield’s version. Bobby’s version hit the top ten chart. And did it again when it was used in the movie “Ghost” It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by Bobby. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages
Live in '65! His parents in the audience. Honeyed voice, fantastic breath/phrasing control, no vocal "searching" for the notes -- 100% on-target effortlessly. This performance of such a classic song is a national treasure. Written for a prison movie, "Unchained," in 1955, covered by hundreds of singers since, including Elvis.
Until they figure out if this is the best live cut in tv history.. I'm gonna put this in top five all time...that voice with a touch of cold gets me every time...when I used to hear it on the radio studio version I would turn it up and say this has to be number one...
So happy that you played it through the end before commenting on it. This is the music I grew up with, and it warms my heart to see the younger generation are hearing it! I subbed!
That music was dubbed "Blue Eyed Soul". I absolutely love your reactions. You could react to a song without saying a word. Your expressions say it all!
1st. There are two Righteous Bros but at times they would do solos also. This is Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Bros singing live on the Andy Williams show there were no do overs just his amazing voice and a small microphone. Many artists before and after him have done this song but no one will ever compare to his performance. It was effortless, smooth and sheer perfection. Many fell in love to this song and with him he was the whole package. Bobby was the tenor voice and Bill Melody was the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic They were considered the best Duo in music theybstarted in 1963 together.
That is by far my favorite version of the song. He sings it so beautifully and so effortlessly. No theatrics to emphasize the notes, just a confident face-- sure and true. True blue. Blue, as in blue-eyed soul. He describes that genre... defines it... embodies it. So good to see young people (esp. those who grew up listening to mom and pop's old soul music), discovering this, and reacting with surprised amazement. I was a Beatles and Stones fan back in the day, but dearly loved soul and its progression over time (child of the '60s). But of the "blue-eyed" guys: Bobby Hatfield always ruled.
They got their name because they were performing in a genre that was predominantly black r&b performers, as they left the stage some other performers yelled out “ that was righteous brother” and that’s the name they took for themselves. Check out “ You’ve lost that loving feeling “ it’s even better I think, both guys sing that one, all their songs were good though and no auto tune back then. 👍🏻

Really enjoyed watching you react. Bobby Hatfield was 25 when they did this show. Had terrible stage fright, a cold, plus his mum was in the audience. Pure singing, no autotune and rigamarole. The audience was quiet per their instructions abd the production values were excellent for their time. Bobby sang itcagain 25 years later for Ghost but this is the one I like best. Have a listen to Sam Cooke singing this. A softer, more intimate version, but quite wonderful.

What a beautifully expressed reaction- you nailed it😄 And you're more right than you know- back then our music came from experience- not ideas about experience. The soul of the music was felt- it was real. Listen to anything from those years- black or white, it was from the heart - it was the MUSIC of life. I really enjoyed your reaction!
PinkMetalHead's unspoken reactions: 1:01, eyes widen, smiles, thinks "Hmmm, what a sharp-dresses, good looking guy"; 1:28, reaches for volume control. thinks " I want more of this, and I want it LOUDER!" 1 ;59 her face clearly shows she's starting to realise that Bobby has unexpected depths; rest of tape, stares transfixed staring at screen, thinking " This guy has such a box of tricks in his voice"; Final crescendo ; "What was I listening to- i can't speak right now!" and she splices her comment in after she recovers!" You're not the first woman to be made speechless by this (eg, your Mum and millions of others! Great reaction I loved it-it's great to see a young woman so moved by one of the songs of my early teen years. :-)
To skip the obvious (for which I’m sure there are thousands of comments): Just discovered your reaction videos. I’m kind of addicted to reaction videos. It’s fun to vicariously enjoy something again, which I have enjoyed in my life. And reaction videos seem to often scratch that itch. And there’s a whole range of how people do it. What I like about yours (again, to skip the obvious), is that not only do you show your feelings, but your thoughts afterwards are either interesting or right on or both. Even when you say something like “I’m literally speechless”, it’s kind of cool, because it comes out so honestly that it hits home. And I’m glad you really own your emotional reactions to these things (after all: these are called “*reaction* videos! That’s what we show up for!). For example, crying to music or movies or other art, is both natural and normal and it’s good for the person doing the crying and often for those witnessing. Doesn’t mean that crying for *anything* is always good. But for music? That is moving? I mean, c’mon! It’s awesome. And great to see someone feeling something to something that also moves us. Anyways, thanks for your reaction videos. They are great and I got a lot to catch up with. If I had to make a request, since you seem to love The Bee Gees and their harmonies (part of that comes from the fact they are brothers and had been singing together since they were little kids), I’d love to see and hear your reactions to The Beach Boys (who also influenced The Bee Gees a lot. And also started with three brothers, a cousin and a friend). I think anything from the album Pet Sounds would be a great place to start. Especially “God Only Knows” (one of the most beautiful songs ever IMHO). But also “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”, “Sloop John B” or “I Guess I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times” From an earlier album, maybe “Please Let Me Wonder”. But there’s so many. Thanks again for your videos and your service as a nurse. (And for the obvious, not to be creepy, because I’m old enough to be your grandfather, and hopefully it isn’t, but God’s beauty is always a wonder to behold. And I always say a blessing and a prayer when I see someone beautiful or a beautiful part of nature. Just sayin’. Hopefully no offense is taken. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program and look forward to seeing more of your work. Keep up all the good work).

I feel goosebumps when I hear this song and lyrics.
I LOVE how you don't interrupt his song. Thank you. I can' watch many people's reaction cuz they mess the song up and talk through it and keep pausing. Thank you again, I subscribed.
Love this girl! Her reactions seem so much more genuine. Her videos are the best to watch for the most sincere reactions! imo
"Soul And Inspiration" is a must listen to song by the Righteous Brothers.
That or Eptide. Their harmonies were so tight, you'd think it'd be a single person singing the song if you didn't know there were two of them! And these white boys had soul!
My mother loved the Righteous Brothers. I grew up listening to their music.
Absolutely your discernment is 100% accurate! Your reactions are the best on the Internet and I’ll tell you why it makes them the best! You allow the song to complete through its entirety. There’s nothing more aggravating than to watch a reaction who pauses 1 2 3 times through a song it crashes the moment.
Your reactions are priceless keep up the great work love your videos! SDL
I'm crying over here. This was my husband and I's song. Anytime it came on, we'd stop what we were doing and dance in each other's arms. I will always hold those memories.
As a teenager, I enjoyed all their music and I still listen to them today!
Totally unbelievably for a live performance 👏👏👏
Loved your reaction - no auto-tune, just a great voice. And my suggestion is for you to listen to two songs almost back-to-back: first, "You Lost That Lovely Feeling'" with both of the Brothers, and then "I Just Wanna Make Love To You" - you will not be disappointed!!
"You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" is the actual title. Written by Barry Mann and sung by the Righteous Brothers.
Don't forget "Soul and Inspiration". That literally is in the top ten songs that will bring two people together perfectly.
@@keithmays8076 do you mean that the song will bring two people together and it’s a great love song for a couple? Or that it’s just a great song when they sing it together? Either way, you’re right. I just wanted to clarify.
No one mentions "Coco Joe" anymore. It is wild.
Why does it appear that so many forget to mention Eptide?
The very best!!!!!!!!
Live, unedited, no lip syncing, no auto tune... And your facial expression was priceless especially when you was speechless right after hearing his finishing note! Love It!
Best version of this fabulous song. 1965!!! Live!!! No retakes!!!! No tapes!! No theatrics!! Just poor TALENT!!! Man, what a performance!!! Brings me to tears every time I hear this version. And,....I'm a guy!!!! Brilliant 👏!!
Young lady... You, your expressions and your ability to appreciate these old tunes and feel their emotion is refreshing and beautiful!
I love seeing the reactions of the young folks to watching this video. I watched another one with a couple of young guys and they came in snickering at Bobby Hatfield’s hair and his 1965 suit. The boys soon changed their tune though. LOL. They were left speechless by this performance. Loved your reaction too, Pink. ❤
Unchained Melody - 10/10
You should check out their song "You Lost That Lovely Feeling."
Fun Fact: one of the members sung "I Had the Time of My Life" for Dirty Dancing in the '80s.
I think you meant, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling." 😀
@@vorlon1 sometimes the title spellings confused me
It was Bill Medley that sang that.
Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes did the time of my life song. Its still one of my faves to this day.
@@OriginalLictre They both sang in that song, but Bill Medley had the lead role.
I still get chills every time I hear this. Loved your reaction!
PMH
Bobby Hatfield, singer here was very nervous because his mother was in the audience during his singing. He and his singing partner, Bill Medley were on a variety TV show called Andy Williams Show.
Not only live, but real. No autotune. No sophisticated audio filters. Just pure, raw, unvarnished talent.
Lol
I'm simply addicted to touching hearts...
So many absolutely beautiful songs, timeless classics came from that era. They are still treasures today.
Unbelievable! Great voice.
Listening to this is like lovemaking for the soul.
Great version.
I love your reaction and expressions on your face❤
So glad you're back
I am 81 and have heard several artists before Bobby’s version and several after.
I subbed!
Glad you like him. I've loved them my whole life. Listen to him and Bill together, fabulous, utterly fabulous.
A true artist. Expresses the emotion. Makes the audience, listeners, feel the emotion.
Great Pink!! Gotta see them do " you've lost that loving feeling" 🔥
The righteous Brothers voices just bring tears to your eyes that’s all there is to it they are amazing
i listened to the recorded version repeatedly and can definitely tell how much of a perfectionist the lead singer is. he is amazing with his voice.
This song was written for the 1955 film "Unchained" about a guy in prison singing about his love on the outside.
Great review PMH. Thank you!
@Char Canuck AHA! FINALLY! Somebody else who actually knows the true origins of this song! I'm constantly telling people this for decades and nobody wants to believe me. I'M an international prisoner advocate for 38 years. I deal with every level of the system from my juveys TO my people on Death Row. For some reason people just think I'm making this up. I'm like NO...and WHY would I even lie about this of all the things in the world to choose from if I wanted to tell tales? Seriously think about it, how does that even make sense? I tell them go do you research people! Idk why it's so hard, cuz that's what I do all day is bury my head into piles of crazy research! LOL 😂 😏❤️😎🤘 #NYStateParalegal #NYGenXBikerLady
@@christinegelabert1651 Absolutely brilliant what you do Christine! We need more people like you in this world. When I was somewhat younger I would advocate (on a local level) for people dealing with poverty and domestic abuse.
Research educates us, so you go girl!
I'm not at all surprised that few know about a 67 year old "B flick", taken from the book "Prisoners are People".....but if they revisit the lyrics, it makes complete sense that the guy is locked up.
Cheers from Ontario, Canada.
@@christinegelabert1651 Finally ?? This is one of the most "reacted" to songs in these reaction videos. Maybe you haven't seen many, but the origin of the song is mentioned all over the place. ( ps - if you haven't and are interested, Unchained is here on youtube )
and this is way befor microphones that can fluctuate and synthesizers totaly genuine talent. I'm so happy to see a young person as yourself listening to a wide range of genres!!
Still one of the most romantic songs I have ever heard in my 52 years. ❤️
These artists were absolutely moving.they wanted you to feel their words.
I've been slow dancing to this song since H.S. in the 60s. I never get tired of it!
I remember them vividly....while Sitting on my Dad's knee at the Elmwood Casino....a Live performance!. Everytime I hear the Brothers on the Radio....I think of my Dad and their beautiful Songs.
My mom sent this song to me in August 2021 & passed away 1/26/22 & I think about her when I hear this song. You’re such a sweet young lady appreciating these great songs! ❤️
One of many most beautiful songs that ever graced the globe, this one is truly up there, fab.
PinkMetalHead's unspoken reactions:
1:01, eyes widen, smiles, thinks "Hmmm, what a sharp-dresses, good looking guy";
1:28, reaches for volume control. thinks " I want more of this, and I want it LOUDER!"
1 ;59 her face clearly shows she's starting to realise that Bobby has unexpected depths;
rest of tape, stares transfixed staring at screen,thinking " This guy has such a box of tricks in his voice";
Final crescendo ; "What was I listening to- i can't speak right now!" and she splices her comment in after she recovers!"
You're not the first woman to be made speechless by this (eg, your Mum and millions of others!
Great reaction I loved it-it's great to see a young woman so moved by one of the songs of my early teen years. :-)
To skip the obvious (for which I’m sure there are thousands of comments):
Just discovered your reaction videos. I’m kind of addicted to reaction videos. It’s fun to vicariously enjoy something again, which I have enjoyed in my life.
And reaction videos seem to often scratch that itch. And there’s a whole range of how people do it.
What I like about yours (again, to skip
the obvious), is that not only do you show your feelings, but your thoughts afterwards are either interesting or right on or both.
But also “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”, “Sloop
John B” or “I Guess I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times”
From an earlier album, maybe “Please Let Me Wonder”.
I'm happy young folks like yourself are checking out the music I grew up with and you enjoy it. There was so much great music during that period. The songs, and the singers & groups, were awesome. The Righteous Brothers were known as blue-eyed soul and Bobby Hatfield's performance here is one of the best song renditions period.
No autotune, enhancements, voice synthesizers. No fakery. Just pure vocal talent.
Today's popular artists can't hold a candle to singers of yesterday.
I've lost that loving feeling, by the Righteous Brothers is really amazing too. They really have opposing voices that blend well.
You are definitely my favorite reaction youtuber! You are so organic and genuine. And you like all the same songs I do! But although I've heard this song my whole life .. I've never appreciated and listened to it as I did with this reaction vid. I kind of discovered something that was always there my whole life, that I didn't realize how amazing it was. Thank you.
