Young lady, you have just listened to the greatest love song ever written.
When a Man Loves A Woman and some of the other Motown love songs are right up there.
@@christhornycroft3686 definitely many classics
It’s one of the best pop vocal performances ever, but the song itself . . . ?
@@Scyllax Your right! The song was mediocre but he brought out the beauty of it.
@@Scyllax Ok, maybe not one of the best songs ever written. BUT I used to write songs for my rock bands, etc. and if I had written this one my life would be fulfilled.
Of course Bobby Hatfield delivered it better than any human on the planet, yet he had a beautiful melody and heart-felt lyrics to work with. Go ahead and try it yourself. Not that easy, eh?
Reminder that he did this cold, no autotune, no backing track, no back up singers, on live TV.
To pull off this kind of vocal, flawlessly in a live situation is genuinely "other worldly". I will be forever grateful that the moment was captured for posterity. It just never gets old. Comparing it with anything modern is pointless.
Phil Spector did not produce this live tv performance.
Truth told, a lot of these old school performers could drop this kind of Performance at a moment’s notice. Tight and solid.
Pretty song for a pretty girl😉
Steve Girard Media - But Phil Spector did produce the track that he was singing live to. This performance is actually better than the single that was twice a hit, roughy 30 years apart.
@@stevegirardmedia2255 I agree, I also don't know what the backing track had to do with Bobby's vocal performance...nobody contributed to Bobby's performance except Bobby!
A song like this in a setting like this, live audience/televised AND not least his parents in the audience would normally have a bearing on the vocal. Watch the opening number of almost anybody's live concert, for the first portion of the song the artiste is usually a little breathless, visibly dry mouthed, (as Bobby was here if you look carefully) You can usually see and hear them settle into it around halfway through the opener.
But Bobby has only the one shot, and he knows it. And he still doesn't do what most artistes would do, he doesn't start to rush it, he doesn't start to build too early. These songs are designed when written to build throughout the song finishing with a big crescendo. If you rush it and start to build too early there is nothing left for the big finish.
To do all of that and in these circumstances to the level was nothing short of a masterpiece, and we get to share it...forever!
I bet his mum cried...I certainly did!
She asks: What is this? The greatest live vocal performance of all time. The young lady was able to convey more emotion just with her facial expressions, her eyes, her body than most other reactors who talk a lot. Loved it ❤️
I agree welcome to blue eyed soul😍
I’m getting tired of these reaction videos. Part of the human experience is curiosity. To live to be in your late 30’s without ever hearing the RB’s is embarrassing not enlightening. Hive mind that only allows you to listen to one type of music is the Bain of society.
I totally agree….her reaction to this amazing love song is the best reaction I’ve ever seen
Bobby Hatfield captures another heart even after almost 60 years. Best live performance ever. And this is his song. No one does it better.
It's a classic. One of the best ever written. Lolol but it's FAR from the best ever live vocal performance
Bobby will forever own this song. no one can touch this. 58 years ago, and still melting hearts.
Absolutely dwayne, after all the years past, this is the song, that will live on forever. Bobby was blessed w/ a contratenor voice, with an amazing range of octave (s). He is dearly missed, but he is still w/us w/his 🎶. What a talented and blessed young man, sure that his parents were very proud of this performance.
Yes dwayne, after all this years, bobby is still melting ❤'s. There is no artist in this day, that could reach such an octave range, as he did. He was such a blessed individual, even in his later years, the voice was there, but perhaps not the range he had when he did this performance live on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I'm sure that Andy wanted all to go well, he was a wonderful singer as well. The aucoustics were outstanding in the NBC studio, with the best orchestra that you could imagine. No autotune, just the young man, mic, and his glorious voice.
@@kay9549Live and on film I believe that this was his perfect moment. that one time when everything goes right. I've said it before, but watching young ppl react to it is always amazing.
@@dwaynentinabunt1200 Dwayne was just going to say Bobby was so very blessed, talented, a voice that you could never describe. His voice was a heavenly one. No one then or now could ever reach those ranges of octaves. I'm perhaps have mention that comment (s) in earlier posts, I can, because im old as dirt. Anyone that had the good fortune, to see either one of the righteous brothers, whether together or each one doing a solo act, it must have been a great experience. Bobby you are dearly missed, thank fully your music will withstand the test of time; actually it has sixty years. Bobby you are still 🎸 in it.
No joke. One of the great vocal performances.
She didn’t say a word, but she said everything.
WesFanMan Absolutely!! LOL Amazing.
Every thought and feeling in her mind is eloquently mirrored on her beautiful face. Sushi's is probably the most compelling reaction to this song on RUclips.

You can tell a guy's got real talent when he can make the ladies speechless and breathless... 60 years later!

If that song went for another 7 minutes she would have needed a pregnancy test.
perfect words to describe it.

Thank you for not talking/commenting during the song. Your expressions were enough. He had a stunningly fantastic sound and I loved how you appreciated it.
The most amazing voice
Absolutely beautiful

The greatest love song ever written performed flawlessly LIVE by the best voice that will ever sing it. A truly amazing voice.
Yes wildflower Bobby was a contratenor, with such control of breathing, reaching all those notes. He sang this song with no effort at all. No one then and now could be compared to Bobby version. Actually there is an artist had a similar range in vocal/octaves Roy Hamilton, his recording of 1955. I have not listen to Sam Cooks version, but will take a see. Bobby is dearly missed, but his 🎶 lives on. When you have a moment listen to Bobbys version of summertime, ebb tide, and many others that are available on utube.
"What just happened?".. I'll tell you what just happened, you just heard one of the greatest ballad singers of all time.
Amen to that...!!
--I think she means what just happened to her...As anyone can see, it was something of real emotional significance
Bobby just melted her heart as she sat w/her golden heart floating...

The time when men sang love songs to the women they loved instead of calling them bitches
Sam Hamilton Amen brother!

I do it to my wife and I'm only 35
Those times when women were Ladys not bitches
The ladies just melted like butter!!
Interesting fact, his mom was on the front row hearing that song for the first time. He was very nervous singing this for her. That little smile at the end was to her.
"I literally felt like I've just been serenaded by the gods" - a beautiful tribute.
I had my first kiss to this song. 50 years later, I am still kissing that handsome boy!
It is great to hear this. Bobby was the real king. 😂

You probably won’t see this but I’m a 60-year old man and when you first paused you literally brought tears to my eyes. one of the greatest live performances of all time . no auto tune just soul and talent
And this is where babies come from.
At least the trying for babies
Caleb Watson Don’t tell me this song did not produce babies. Look at this young lady’s reaction. Her pheromones are coming thru the screen.
Music like this increases the population. How do you think the US population expanded after war times? This song is partially responsible for at least 100k souls

Hey world !!!! I'm 70 years old. This is "my generation's" music. I listened to this kind of music when I was young. Good stuff hey ???!!!!
And me m Thailand
I just turned 70 three weeks ago. Yep, this music defined our generation. I still get chills hearing this. Only The Righteous Brothers can sing this. As well as “Ebb Tide.”👍
You betcha! I polished many a belt buckle to this and other Righteous Brothers' songs...
Good stuff for sure!
At 37, and as a father, I wonder what the future for my kids looks like, because I much more revere music of the past than that of today, for what appears to be obvious reasons to me.
Bobby's mother was in the audience that night - this performance was on The Andy Williams Show. Natural talent, he sang live, effortlessly, nothing pre-recorded, in tune, and no auto-tune. I remember when this song first came out when I was a kid. The sheer beauty of his voice in this song still brings tears to my eyes in the best way possible.
Bobby's little nod and smile at the end was the world's greatest.
Bobby’s relaxed smile, little nod and gentle lip bite were the cherry on top of the world’s most delicious cake.
This lovely young lady just had that over a song that is over 50 years old. My God humanity just might make it.
just need to get them off the fake news tv
kirk - Amen to that.
Doubt it....
The powers of the poet transcend time and generation
@Dojocho musical talent knows no color.... lol many of the best talents in the world are of every color, creed, religion...
And he sang it without the sound of him breathing like they all do now. His breath control is a master class in how to sing.
This is true, though some songs the breathing is part of it.
Yea man. Also back in that era, recordings were much the same. Ive seen footage of The Beach Boys recording back in the day. One room, all band members, instruments and backing singers all arranged around a single microphone. All different distances from the mic to achieve desired levels. They did it in a single take, and if even one of these elements wasn't perfect they had to do all over again. They didn't have the benefit of multitrack etc. They were amazing live back then because they pretty much had to bring the same a-game to recording as they did live.
Right. I love Matthew Bellamy. I do. I think he's a great singer. But he's got no breath control
There are many gifted singers around today, but what I don't like about (most of) their performances is all the facial theatrics. Pulling faces and grimacing doesn't actually help to create or sustain a note.
This girl's expressions say it all for her. She is simply overcome and words have literally failed her. She is experiencing a level of emotions that are overwhelming.
Other parts of her body probably reacted as well.
She is suffering from the WPS, which so many girls suffered from listening to this.
I'm 76 and used to party with the Righteous Brothers at there apartment by Disneyland. We took them for granted but not for a long time. They were the real deal. Glad you enjoyed his singing.
Cool.
That's a pretty awesome little story there. 🤟 😎
This song still gives 99% of anyone who listens to it chills, decades later. Very few songs will ever come close to this.

Is it just me or is this girl just breath taking?
YES SHE IS😊🎉
Yes!
She certainly is
This is a live performance on a tv show. There is no computer assist, no auto-tune - nothing but pure talent and a 3 octave range with superb tone/pitch quality and control. He is not the first to record this song, and there have been several others after this, including Elvis, but Bobby Hatfield owns this song.
Bobby had a 6 octave range as well.
Important comment Dana
Absolutely. Worth pointing out that Bill Medley could take his voice down to an unbelievable bass. Together they were stunning. My mum has all their original vinyls so i was lucky to get overdosed in them as a kid.
It was the Andy Williams Show, live TV.
And his mom was in the audience!
Soul is far beyond color or culture, it is a human bridge of music that connects us all.
This right here ☝🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Firstly, may I say your skin is so pretty.
A good song never goes out of style. This song was written in the 50’s & does not sound dated. Elvis cut this song & countless others. Sam Cooke does a fine job on it as well.

You are the only reactor with pauses in this song that I actually appreciate. No talking...just a physical reaction that says it all. Perfect. :)
What many fail to mention was this was a live vocal, in a TV studio not a recording studio… Before auto-tune and lip sync… Dudes could sang!!
Now you know the difference between a "singer" and an "artist".
They call themselves "artists" because they really cannot sing at all. Got to have talent to sing......
I believe that Bobby's talent was on loan from God.
Bobby hit 20 notes over 2 octaves without breaking a sweat. One of the only singers who could do that.
One of the finest male voices in modern music. Thanks for your reaction.
Think back to your High School Senior Prom, the last dance of the night and they play this song. Your emotions go through the roof. That is what it was like back then, an era that only those of us who lived in it, can embrace it and the memories that we have to look back on.
When singers had talent that had nothing to do with technology. Magnificent

Live witth 1960's microphone! Everytime I hear him doing this song I think of all the other singers who have tried this song and think of their voice on a line and him being able to just dart back and forth across their range with ease. There just has never been another person that sounded like him.
He owned it. No matter who did it before or since, Bobby Hatfield will be remembered always when that song is thought of.
@Margaret McEvoy white male´s heart crying with a smile
The studio version of this song is damn near perfection, but this live version is not of this world. This, folks, is as good as it gets.
Yes he owned it. This is who comes to my mind if this song is mentioned.
@@douglasfrench6998 tbh I like the studio version's instrumentation slightly better, but the live version has him hit the high note at the end, which is why I prefer the live version. Both versions are beyond amazing, however. No other person, I repeat, NO OTHER PERSON has come even close to singing Unchained Melody as good as Bobby Hatfield though.
Maybe the song wasn't written for him, but he was born to sing it.
Yessss!
Very well said.
It was written in 1955 as the theme song for a low budget prison film, “Unchained.” There were three different artists who put it out as a single In the 50’s...Les Baxter, Al Hibbler, and Roy Hamilton. But once this version by Bobby Hatfield was released in July 1965, as the “B” side to a song the DJ’s didn’t like and wouldn’t play, it became THE standard interpretation. Bobby first recorded a couple takes as it was written, but he came back for another and changed the final verse to a much higher level.....something he could obviously do with his incredible voice.
Absolutely
Yes, it's that powerful. A true love song to a woman a man can't live without . . .
There are dozens of these reactions to unchained melody online. And I have watched most of them. But this is my favorite reaction. You were completely swept away to the point you were speechless and just trying to compose yourself. But who could blame you, it really is that good.

@Judas Iscariot You don't know a whole lot about art. The foremost problem with "RAP" and "Hip-Hop" is the over-rhyming -- which is strictly amatuer. And the strutting is about calling attention to oneself, not to the work, the "art". Rhymes that call attention to themselves erase the rest of the line.
A MASTER on how to rhyme is Bob Dylan. But you won't listen to him, because you can't "tolerate" his voice.
