    Great stuff, If you are hear to learn about how to make a Decal from a second UV map. it is explained from 14:01 ish

  • @onjofilms

    I searched for HOURS for this. Man, you explained it well. When you put one normal into another normal I was like Wow, but of course!
    The other thing I couldn't figure out was how to put multiple images on an object; mix shaders, duh!
    Thanks Chipp. I'm gonna get my brother down in Austin to buy you a beer.

    Wow, that was jampacked w/info. Thanks.
    I wonder if you could do a "Lite" version of "how to decal" -- for a noobie, this had SO many moving parts it was challenging to follow everything, especially the rationale of what gets added where and when.
    But even if you don't find that to be good idea, thanks for all the info. In maybe a month I'll be able to understand all that.

    I really hate nodes. I try to follow along but after three or four there are just a bundle of strings going everywhere and I have zero idea whats going on. Is there a way to learn this or do you have to be born with it?

    • @ChippWalters
      @ChippWalters  3 года назад

      Yeah, I know what you mean. It is daunting to learn. It takes a lot of time and trial and error. There's probably some decent tutorials out there.

    Hey Chipp, great tutorial! I only have one problem. I followed and checked every step and when i adjust the foil decal it also changes the 1st material (red decals) color and roughness, so both decals look pretty much the same except 1st one has red-outlined bump. Any idea how to fix this?

    • @ChippWalters

    Hi Chipp! thanks for the tutorial. I was following this tutorial but I've ran into an issue. When I use the knife tool to cut one of my faces, the UV for the new face created becomes distorted. is there any way to fix this?

    • @ChippWalters
      @ChippWalters  3 года назад +1

      Yes, when you subdivide, the UVs may move. Sometimes it's best to subdivide MORE first, then knife your secondary area.

    When I press CNTRL + T I get (2) sets of those that pop up........ One set is automatically hooked up to the Volume of the final Material Output node,
    The second set is automatically hooked up to the Principled BSDF and then the Principled BSDF is hooked up to the surface of that same final Material Output node.
    I'm so confused by that..... is it suppose to be that way ??......hhmmm. I'm using v1.92.0 of Blender.

    • @ChippWalters
      @ChippWalters  3 года назад

      Your definitely doing something wrong. That shouldn't happen. I don't know why it is.

    • @TwstedTV
      @TwstedTV 3 года назад

      @@ChippWalters
      Someone helped me on this, Its because when you go to the nodes for the first time, BOTH the PrincipleBSDF and the Output are automatically selected "Which is a bit hard to tell", So when you press CNTRL+T it does it doubled. So weird., but ok :)
      Wracked my brain on that for a while, I think I lost a few brain cells because of it......lol
      I am starting to notice that you have to be very very careful what to press or touch in this app, or things will go seriously wrong very quickly....lol
      Anyways, thank you for responding, its very much appreciated :)
