  • This Blender tutorial will demonstrate EIGHT ways to organize shader and geometry nodes in Blender. We will cover collapsing nodes, hiding unused node sockets, node frames, node groups, node reroutes and more.
    Nodes can get messy and this video will show you how to clean up your node tree in Blender. Stay to the end to see a great Blender add-on that helps preview nodes in the node editor.

    Shift + Right click and drag over noodle to place a reroute node faster (might need node wrangler)

    I had to save groups of nodes to my startup file, had no idea we could make assets out of them! Thank you!

    I've been putting in lots of time learning Geometry Nodes and THIS video is Gold, thank you. Specifically, saving Node Groups in to your Asset Browser. Thanks very much Brandon 🤓

    I've seen quite a lot of Blender "help" videos, Premium and free over the years, but only a very small few (and here as well; Premium or free) are as to-the-point, clear, competent and BS-less as this excellent video. Thanks!!

      Dave, thank you so much! That means a lot to me and those frustrations with other tutorial videos were exactly why I started making these. Thank you!!

    A near perfect tutorial!
    Blender is such a huge program and I often find myself in situations where I used to know how to do a thing, but have forgotten that pesky shortcut. In this case, just needed Ctrl+J. Clicked through this at 2x speed. Bish-bash-bosh, got it! Jobs a good'un!

    There's also the "Node Arrange" built-in addon which organizes nodes. It's a panel that shows up in node editors.

    Came here because I couldn't remember the trick to make a group. No not that kind of group, the other kind of group. Aha, it's called a "frame", ctrl-J.
    *Now* I know everything about Blender!

    • @Brandon-3D

      Yes. Select it and press “G” like you would with objects. Thank you!!

      The method posted by thefreshest with Shift + Right click while dragging over a noodle (or several noodles) is also something I use all the time and that speeds rerouting up significantly

    Great! Where is the best place to put "global" node groups in the blender file (not at assets)? Create an fake object?

    • @todesdigga3891
      @todesdigga3891 8 месяцев назад

      You could create a Geometry Nodes Setup with all your Nodegroups without connecting and click the little shield next to the name of the Node Tree, that way it would not be deleted even if you delete the object where you created it. But Assets are easier
