    Rock solid tut! I love when teachers have a lucid awareness of the tutorial meta and I, a student, can contextually answer my own questions along the way. I personally am entering into the "UV editing is actually fun" era. It's quite meditative and full of "aha!" moments and is very satisfying. If you're reading this and UV editing gives you anxiety- don't give up! The investment of time and attention is worth fumbling your way through different 3D models and discovering the simple core fundamentals. A good exercise for me was to install the BlenderKit add-on and download other artist's free models into a blank scene. You can then study how different people approach their UVs.

    Damn, I thought "26 min long for a lesson on UV unwrapping, it will be boring as hell" and then, 26min later I was like "what !?! it's already over ?". Thanks to teach me how wrong i was. That's what i call some quality course.

    I'm starting to realize how much finding seams on objects is just like finding seams on clothes. Clothes are essentially made by taking a 2D pieces of fabric and stitching them together by the seams to create clothing that can fit over a 3D object. Probably not a bad way to get an idea of how seams should be placed.

    • @Duhya
      @Duhya 3 года назад +18

      On clothes the uv seams are usually best placed (imo) where the actual seams are so very appropriate analogy.

    • @youtubi123youtubipel
      @youtubi123youtubipel 3 года назад +21

      This analogy is perfect, and that's why it's called Seams

    Very good tutorial.
    Bad UVs are VERY prevalent. Even a lot of AAA game companies are guilty of some embarrassingly shoddy UV work. A bad UV can make your entire surface/material look unclean and yucky in an almost indescribable way. Keeping consistent scaling and proper alignment is HUGE and makes sure your texture work shines.

    • @javannapoli2018
      @javannapoli2018 2 года назад

      I can kinda forgive some rough UVs in AAA games with how rushed their devs can be.
      You'd be more aiming for 'passable' so you can move on to the next asset lol.
