I purchased a Rode Mic Me-L. One word: AMAZING! I even made a video reviewing it although my channel is all about teaching English! That’s how much I loved it 😅
I presently use the Rode VideoMicro with the shock mount, my main camera right now is Gopro Hero 5. May need to look into this for a future investment.
I threw my laptop away when I found this mic and got FL studio mobile and never looked back. You can use Voloco After you export the beat for auto tune this mic is no cap the shit.
I tried the Me-L with my DJI gimbal. The mic interfered with the gimbal and made it difficult to balance my phone. I traded it for the original version ($20 less) and it worked really well. I couldn’t hear a difference in sound between the two mics. Also, the Video Mic Me-L doesn’t work with a phone case that surrounds the lightning port on the phone .
1.- don't know if this mic will do the job to register my lesson at the university. My phone is not an Apple. 2.. Which app would you recommend me to control the sound 3. Thanks
@@AirPhotography Just bought mine and using it on my upcoming video. It didn't get in the way on my iphone at least. Eventually I'll get a pro camera but for now this is great on iphone!
Awesome review. I was wondering if there was a setting or something to setup audio, but plug & play is awesome. thanks for touching on that in your video.
Can this mic connects to a lighting extension without affecting the quality of recording (have headset connected already)? Trying to get 2-3 feet from the device so won’t be blind..
Can you use this or the Rode Videomicro for skype calls? And if so will you be able to hear the other person while the mic is also plugged in? Thanks a bunch in advance.
It would work good if you’re pointing at the direction that you want to record, like to pick up a river sound. Sometimes an Omni directional microphone would work better if you want to capture a complete environment. But this would work just fine
I had been using the old one for all my voiceover is that I do for RUclips. The last week I have been using the new one and I would have to say they are very similar I have not noticed any differences
I haven’t played around with many other lightning and able to Mike’s just due to the fact the other ones on the market are Omni directional which are great for certain situations but mainly my usage is a shotgun style directional microphone to cut out background noise. I may try some of the other Mikes that are available and do reviews on them in the near future
Thank you for the reply. Yes I have the first version of the Osmo mobile, but I think it might be to tight to fit. Hard to tell unless it you have everything in front of you.
Hi, there great video! I need to record my voice to do a voiceover for a video I filmed what app should I use with my new rode mic to record because voice memos on the iPhone does not work when I plug my rode mic in the port.
Isn't that a lot of pressure for the lightning port? I have had two go out on me because I tug too hard on the charging cable. This looks very taxing for the charging port.
But you boosted the gain right because the sound out of these mics are small. Did you add any limiting, noise reduction and/or limiting? Because if people buy this and don't realize you need to add all that they will think this is monkey doodoo
My brand new Me-L mic did broke after 3 times use, I used it on a Iphone with a safety cover so the plug didn't get all the way into the phone. Then onto a tripod an it all fell down cause windy conditions, this was not a part of the guaranty so now i have to by another one. So be carefully when using this.
I used LumaFusion for this video. But I use iMovie quite a bit for simple projects. The first half of all my RUclips videos were edited in iMovie on my iPhone.
Air Photography I use iMovie as well. What would be the next upgrade for IOS? iMovie is okay, but it’s time to set up for my drone channel. Howie C Stylez!!!! Also would you recommend this mic for an iPad Pro? I think the iPad will be my best choice for vlogging until I can afford the best camera. I was looking at Asako, Campark, Hero 5’s but it would be stupid to use those over and iPad Pro unless I get a really good camera. Thanks 🙏
I got a new iPad Pro not knowing it doesn’t have a lighting port. It has usb c. I was gonna use this mic with it. Can’t find an adapter with usb c with lighting port.
No it wouldn't I believe. If it has a mic in the older version would work along with any other Jack mic. The pocket has lightening port in order to use the phone as a screen I belive. Hope that helps.
Yeah the iPhones even Samsung’s have pretty good 4K video nowadays. And definitely check out Snapseed it’s a great little app and the best part is it’s free 👍
@@AirPhotography Thanks. I try to learn from you because I love your videos, not sure if I'm succeeding because I dont get subs, but I'm trying. Thanks
I am thinking of getting one of these to use with my iphone 11 pro. But if i do, i also want to use it with my 11” ipad pro when doing voiceovers while editing video. But the ipad pro uses usb-c. Is there an adapter that will enable me to use it on my ipad pro?
Because this is a shotgun style microphone it is designed to Pick up audio that it pointed at And illuminate a lot of background noise. So in that situation you would need to flip the microphone around and pointing it at the subject. Optionally you can get a Omni directional microphone and that way picks up audio from all directions equally
I have not tried it but theoretically the lightning to headphone adapter that comes with the newer iPhones should allow it to work. However you have the trouble of how to mount it
That is very strange. You should be able to just plug it in and it works it’ll disable you’re on board microphone right away. Perhaps it is a defective unit?
Great video: can you or anyone offer a way to connect the microphone on an iPhone 8+ mounted on a zhiyun smooth4 gimbal? Many thanks. This will be perfect as I am setting up to travel filming with my iPhone & need a good microphone setup

Just tried it out on iPad mini5 with Lumafusion...worked very well!
Maybe I missed it. Powered by the phone? Any control over input volume?
What microphone is good for iPhone now?
I have one and it is great. Can I connect it to a Mac/PC with a lightning to USB adapter?
Hello I was wondering what tripod you are using to make the video it is good.
I have it but sounds cuts out for a 1 or 2 seconds. My sound just mutes. Any idea why. And there is some distortion. Can you help?
Sold! This actually sounds pretty darn good! It blows the Shure MV88+ out of the water.
Very good demonstration. Thank you very much.
You said durning the video that the mic could be fitted with a foam windscreen...which ones do you suggest?
Which is the 3rd party foam cover you mentioned?
Thank you so much, mine just came in the mail, watching your review really made it so easy for me....thanks hon

Could you post a link to the smaller noise diffuser you were talking about. Great video. Thanks
So does this work with a phone or iPad case on ?

This may be a dumb question but are you able to connect this to a NON APPLE device?
Thanks for the advice, gonna get this for my iPhone 11 set up. Cheers
thanks! Very informative and helpful.

Hi Can the older version of the video mic me be used with a jack adaptor to record apert of the iphone
Great review. The 8 Plus with the Videomic has dramatically better sound. Wow! Glad my Videomic Me-L is on the way. I can't wait!

hello
i am wondering if you can plug in the opposite side ?
Does the fuzzy thing get in the way of the camera any time?
No it does not unless you’re using the ultra wide lens, it may perhaps but I don’t film in Ultra Wide myself So I’ve never tested that

I wonder if it is possible to squeeze that into the Osmo mobile with the phone.

No, because the microphone is super light in terms of weight.
Do you think they will bring a Samsung one out as well love your info stay safe
A usb-c one Would be very nice as well. But Samsung’s can continue to use the older model as it still has a audio jack 👍
Does this mic work for FaceTime watts app zoom calls? Or only for live or recordings?
You can use it for anything that requires microphone on your iPhone
But you boosted the gain right because the sound out of these mics are small. Did you add any limiting, noise reduction and/or limiting? Because if people buy this and don't realize you need to add all that they will think this is monkey doodoo
All audio samples are raw as they are captured no adjusting done
