I appreciate this video so much. So you record via the voice memo app and then overlay the voice to your vid in your vid editing software? Can it record simultaneously when using the photo app for video recording? Does it override the external mic on your iPhoneX?
Hey! I used the voice memo app because I was recording on my camera BUT if you are using your iPhone then you just hit record on your camera and it records! But if you’re using a camera then you want to use the voice memo app and sync the video and audio in your editing app.
@@AmandaHorvath Thank you so much! Your reply deserves a sub. I am subscribing now. :) So many folks have lost the art of actually replying to comments. I love the fact that you interact. Keep up the awesome work.
@@dylxn9233 do this to get perfectly synced audio: hit record in your voice memo app, then hit record on your camera. Once they are both recording, clap your hands, and then complete your vlog or whatever it is you are doing. When you are done, import your audio and video to your editing software. Take a look for a spike in the audio at the beginning (this will be where you clapped). The on board mic from your camera should pick up the spike as well. Then it's just a matter of aligning the audio from the camera to the audio you recorded on your phone, using the clap as a reference point. Hope that helped!
This video helped my ADD so much for it was the only one that talked about TWO mics which narrowed things down for me so nicely and saved me hours of overthinking and time- I’m so indecisive! I ordered the one with two pics that you suggested!
Amanda, it took me a while until I finally found a working app for my iPhone where I can successfully use a wireless lavalier microphone. You can definitely use a portable speaker which is Bluetooth compatible. I am thrilled that you are good about wearing wireless lavalier microphones on your videos. It does not take more than 2 to 3 minutes to get mic’d up.
I couldn't believe how great the audio quality of the $30 purple panda mic was when I first heard it! All the adapters and chords it comes with is a bonus. That's the one I am going to end up going with. Thanks for making this video :)
This helped me sooo much with my videos. I’m thinking of using a microphone for my audio to make the quality of my videos better. This is suuuper helpful thank you 🙏
Hello Amanda! Thanks a lot for your advices. I'm from Romania and from here is difficult to make an order from Amazon, but you helped me a lot. Bless you!
Wow! Your videos are very professional, crisp audio, simple elegant edits (not distracting), and your energy is awesome! Thanks for your review and all the extensive, helpful links in the description! 👏🙌🤍 You're definitely going to blow up.
Yes the Rog mic is the best! That’s what I was looking for! My Panasonic HC-V180 doesn’t have external mic input but I have a mic on my IPhone with adapters that does. I have used voice recorder in past and sync with video from my camera in editing like you are doing I believe. I just got a refurbished IPhone 8 so have memory and installed ProMovie camera app for $2.99. It works!
Hahah girl... HE should be the one working for it :) you are legit! I recorded my video w the audio connected w some cheap lapel off Amazon and the video lag is so bad! So I found your video but it is overwhelming all the stuff I don’t know. I’m curious what your set up is btw? Camera lights etc? I’m sure you made a video about it hahaha

Awesome! I think I’m going to go with the panda. I’m trying to start my own RUclips channel and all these gadgets are pricey. I can’t purchase everything at once. I figured I would buy a MacBook for editing videos through iMovie and buy a camera later on. I hope recording videos from my iPhone will work for now 😬 it’s so hard deciding where to start.
Damn. I just realize that you show what you do in the beginning while showing your name. Never thought of that. I should do that too so people know what kind of content they can expect from me. So simple, yet so clever. Like an elevetor pitch. 😃
David Lindgren89 you mean with the subscription portion of it? This may have been a happy accident from when I originally created that graphic. I’m glad it’s clever!! Hahaha
Amanda Horvath Yes, the text at 0:29 ”Video Marketing for Entrepreneurs”. Also, just noticed now, it’s written more like ”this is what you get” instead of ”this is who I am”. Customer focused! I like that! 😃
They all sound the same and not bad. The reason I watched this video is because the iPhone does not have a regular audio input. I see you are using an adapter, but even on my old iPhone 5 I had to use a splitter. It is a true pain having to figure out what you need tomato those mics work. You confirmed my concerns by telling us that you had problems making them work, but didn't go into any details. We all have those problems. Was hoping there is something you can shove into that iPhone directly. No luck on that, I guess. 🥴 Oh and thanks for sharing your results.
Very informative video, Amanda. Thanks! I am debating between Purple Panda and Irig. I'm considering Irig simply because you mentioned it can handle two people's audio. :)
Great video, I pulled the trigger on the Irig last week. Still waiting for it to come. Had I found the Panda one I'd probably have went with it, but the price point for the Irig was great for the quality and having it made strictly for TRRS it was the one for me!
Nice reviews thanks. I already sent back two tiny mics with lightning plugs that just buzzed constantly in the background! I have a Røde Lavalier mic already so I guess all I need is that dongle. But the online adverts either suggest that the dongle is for headphones or that they don't list iPhone 13 specifically for being compatible! An d some advice says only get a geniune Apple dongle and not a Chinese knock-off (aren't they all Chinese??) that might damage my phone. If only things were simple. Anyhow back to keyboard and Amazon or EBay for another try.
Great Review..Thank You!!. Looking for a mic for my wife who wants to start blogging. Think I will go with the PurplePanda. Decided even before you recommended it at the end of your video.

Amanda thank you so much for the quality content! Just subscribed !!! What app or software do you use to make fantastic text appear like that in your videos?
Thanks! They are called mogrts! Look them up - motion array is my fave resource for them. You have to be using premiere though - although FCP has their own version of them as well apparently.
From your samples, I'd definitely have preferred the Rode. The others, Panda included, sounded flat. My guess is there was less of a frequency range captured than the Rode. I wonder though if the Panda could have been adjusted in editing to make it sound better.
In addition to this excellent video review, I would like to see a review of stabilizers for the iPhone. Trying to research and help my wife with her real estate business. Thanks for the info!
Go handheld and shoot slower moving shots that don't need a stabilizer! Check out my iPhone vlog videos and you'll see I don't use a stabilizer but there is still movement in them.
This was great and informative. Thank you very much. I have a Roland R-05 that is my go to mic for my home setup. But when I’m at work I wanted something for my phone. This video helped me immensely.
Amanda, I ordered the Purple Panda mic after watching your video review. The mic works great on the iPhone but I am getting a loud buzz in the bakground when recording with Garageband on my Macbook Pro. Did you notice the same?
If the mic is bluetooth, there will be a slight time lag that causes that wobbly crazy sound. For clear recording, you'll need to plug in a mic to the recording device. Good luck!
Would you make a video like a full tutorial on how to record a video on iPhone with a mic and all app settings and then editing an audio and having a video in the end with a quality sound
Thanks for another helpful video: especially like your sound effect right after 6m10s! The most expensive one has a slight edge when I'm listening on my desktop vs. on my phone.
Good and clear video. I'm thinking about getting rid of 1 or 2 camera's and recording my youtube video's more with my iphone. The only thing that held me back was the sound recording. But now I know enough, thanks! I also didn't hear much difference between the 4 mics, so I guess the purple thing should be fine for me :) Keep it up!
Great video. One interesting option also is the DJI mic! You'd just connect the receiver on the iphone itself then it would automatically connect to the magnetic clip-on mic. The most interesting part is, the receiver has a screen where you can customize the mic settings.
