- Eight seats per row, on a Boeing 767! That's not normal, seven seats would be normal. That was just the first clue as to what an awful product Ukraine International offers...but at least they're cheap!

Now this is literally a war zone... So weird... air travel kind of represents the pinnacle of modern, advanced and civil society, the opposite of war and conflict... so to see a place that was previously covered in a casual tripreport with the usual modern airport buildings, lounges, talk about airplanes suddenly in the mids of a war zone is truly impactful...
I've always said this too. In fact I openly scoff at the lofty claims of "Unity & Brotherhood" bandied about before & during the Olympic games; air travel is the _real_ unity, not a hypercommercialised quad-yearly exercise in soundbytes
So true
@@Daryanplays That's the point, you do realise? OP says "this is now," drawing the contrast between the peaceful times and the now, the modern world following the invasion. The point is to highlight that difference. And it really is something that highlights the impact and gravitas of airspace, of war and the necessity of peace (albeit slight exaggerated in my comment)
When you remember what the same nation was doing to their own people in the far east, you wouldn’t see the current situation as anything terrible.
But no matter what, airlines do give that feeling of modernisation, civilization, comfort and professionalism.
Bloody hell, it's like flying on a charter airline from 1998. It may be the 767, but the old interior really depresses the cabin.
planes spotter and railfanner it’s actually really expensive to install personal ife. Even installing paid WiFi streaming would be more cost effective.
planes spotter and railfanner overhauling an airplane which has >200 seats is very expensive and assuming that cost is ridiculous baring in mind that these planes are going to be retired and replaced by the modern 777-200 in the next 2 years.
*1988
True
Your plane’s had quite the history. It first flew for Royal Brunei registered V8-RBF with 23 business class and 182 economy. It was leased to Vietnam airlines in 1996 and returned in 1998. It was sold to the now-defunct AeroSvit and registered UR-AAI with no cabin changes. When Aerosvit went bankrupt in 2013 UIA bought it and then reconfigured and reregistered it to the current config.
I have to point out UIA's fares are one of the cheapest. About 300USD from Asia to Europe is hard to beat. So I think when people lower their expectations, things may be much more bearable. I liked the review, thanks for sharing your experience :)
agreed. unfortunately due to the current circumstances, this really isn’t an option anymore 😔
@@thegreypenguin5097 Let's hope that the option returns soon 😉
Finnair's 330 euro from Amsterdam to Delhi isn't bad either. Atleast their planes are new and comfortable, and you get food and service.
@@Kayshots It's hard to put those two into comparison. UIA (used to) offer cheap fares consistently from Europe to Asia. Finnair, no. You will find EUR330 fares when there are competition, and I guarantee you it will be way above EUR330 if you fly from Helsinki to Delhi. Consistency of the fare and the service provided is the key.
@@KayshotsShow me Finnair for 330$ now and I'll quit my job and work for you. Last time I checked it was 700$ so stop giving others fake hope(s)
That cabin looked disturbingly cramped. Usually Boeing 767s are pretty open
Something to do with the 8 abreast config. Legroom and cushioning are alright though
2-4-2 is ideal for the A330 not the 767
The plane looks like we're in the 80s almost lol
@@ag6371 wait til you see a 9 abreast A330...
The aisle looked absolutely tiny
Long haul in that cabin!? No way!
IrishAviation you can just download things on Netflix and I bet it's cheap and the seats are also good looking
Im fine as long as the seats are comfortable.
I'm fine if they is a tv my own tv and a clean saet then time to go😆
That cabin looks very bad for a long haul
Doesn't look like much fun for sure.
The B767 cabin should be 2-3-2 to be comfortable
Hussein Baghdadi you’re gddamm right. Looks like they didn’t even bother to reconfigure it
some airlines just want profit
2-4-2 is good only for the A330 and 787
@@ag6371 787 you mean
@@ag6371 nah 3-4-3 is best for 777
Love the oldfashiond 767 experience even with the added winglet. Great clip👍🏻👍🏻
the routing of the PEK-IEV is very long, because they have to avoid Russian airsapce
IEV = Kiev Zuhillny (the smaller airport) KBP = Kiev Boryspil (the destination)
doc7austin that is not true I flew air china Heathrow to Beijing and back from New Zealand and a went allllllll the way through Russia...
3mirates 553 It's because of the Ukraine-Russia relationship, not because Russian airspace is close to the public
flippy12052004 depends on the airline. I think he is talking about UAI. Even LH Group had some problems with Russian airspace in past. I can remember that Swiss (LHG) had some problems with Russian airspace on their Asia service. They flew south of Russia. And same was with Aerologic a LH group cargo operator.
Lufthansa Airlines yeees, you will be able to fly from Asia to Europe en all of these airlines through Russian airspace however look at the Russian-Ukrainian relations right now, they’re in war over the Crimean peninsula.
Impressive seeing old school 767 cabin! make the most before retirement.
Very intersting trip report of this rather old-school way of air travel. The food looked quite nice though. I'm sure they're going to introduce a new cabin with the 777 next year.
I just compared UIA prices on the route to Beijing with other european carriers, it appears to be one of the cheapest. Do you guys know the phrase "you get what you pay for"? Take your tablet with you and you've got enough entertainment. UIA will receive their first 777-200ER with new cabin soon, so it doesn't make sence to refit the old cabin for a few years as it's very expensive to do so. Apart from the missing personal IFE, UIA seems to offer a solid product nonetheless. If you want to fly cheap with all inclusive, go ahead an fly with subsidized gulf carriers like Emirates etc. But keep in mind that not all airlines got this method of finance to their advantage.
+ZurichAirportSpotter Agree with all of it except the last two sentences, but that's another story. We always bring our own entertainment and in the video we didn't complain about the missing IFE. We merely pointed out that there is no IFE and that this is unusual nowadays, which is both true...
Simply Aviation Don't get me wrong, I wasn't pointing at you and your notice about the IFE, but at the many comments below complaining about the dated cabin (probably wasn't clear enough from my side). It kind of annoys me how people expect best quality at low fares, this is an equation without solution imo. Well, regarding EK etc. we obviously have different oppinions, now you made me currious how your argumentation on that is ;)
ZurichAirportSpotter UIA is going to get the 777-200ER, but they will leave 767-300ER for other long-haul flights (Toronto, Colombo, Delhi). So it will be better to refit the cabin, but your words about the price/service factor are right.
and from London, UIA aren't usually even the cheapest on the Beijing, BKK and other long-haul routes. I would fly with Aeroflot over UIA any time, cheaper, all-inclusive even on the short-haul leg and new planes.
@@mikhailiakovlev1936 No reasonable person would fly with Aeroflot which is operated by terrorists.
In 2010 I flew between Madrid and New York and back with Iberia and there was no IFE system on the seat backs - it was still a very enjoyable experience!
Loved it when the passengers clapped and cheered when the plane landed
For some reason it is something like tradition in Ukraine and Russia😅
@@mikhailmikhail7633No, it's not a tradition, if one person claps, you need to join them. It brings luck to everyone, I know it's not common in your country Somalia but in Canada we clap too.
@@Roccinante I'm actually from Russia. It's hard to explain why we clap, so I said it's something like a tradition.
Excellent video as always Simply Aviation !😛 You deserve a lot mora subs than you have! I also enjoyed the detail you put in the airport you are just perfect Simply Aviation!👍
Am i the only one who liked the cabin? I liked it precisely because it was old. Bulky overhead compartments. No mood lighting. No WiFi for distractions. No personal IFE with common screens hanging down from the ceiling. Thick padded seats, which you dont often find today. All this sets UIA apart from others, with its own brand. I really would like to try them out just once.
Richy They do have WiFi now.
trying out UIA in 2018 : 😃
trying out UIA in 2024: 💀
On Long-Haul flights I will happily trade-in IFE for extra 5cm of legroom and in-seat USB outlet.

all of ur videos are fantastic just love that you dont add any noisy background music its really good.
That Oreo-ish chocolate bar is indeed a product of Oreo, because Oreo's official Chinese name is 奥利奥.
In old times they didn't have personal screens on International flights!?
How could our generation survive in that time...
NGJ Pictures that fact you were flying is awesome
United's 744s never had personal screens and they were only just retired.
Ihdc1 they did
Take me home Jenifer No they didn’t. I n case you misunderstood, 744 stands for 747-400.
Oh No No the didn’t. I last flew on one in 2013 and have watched countless videos. I assure you United 747s do not have PTVs in coach. You must all fly business class all the time.
Amazing as always pals
Hi Felix and David! You said that you will fly with Level in August? Its almost September! When are you going to fly with level?
Hi felix! I love the channel. I hate tripreports with voice or too much music but this is perfect! Love simply aviation
The same for me
Cool video keep up the great work 👍👍
Love your reports!
R u going to be at cdg for the first air France a318 flight to Dublin or the other way around
I have a suggestion can u also include how the takeoff and landing is like how smooth the landing is

I flew from New York to Kiev, it was VERY rough. Kiev to Minsk, not as much.... (July 2018) good thing I didnt have to fly the same thing twice on the trip back. Considering new 777 New York to Kiev though... risky...
Wow, Felix, you really got around this summer! That cabin looks very old-school. Not the most comfortable for a long 10 hours.
Awesome footage! =D
I flew Düsseldorf-Kiev-Cairo and back with UIA in Embraer and Boeing planes. Although service is basic and food/drinks need to be bought, I had a comfortable flight with good seats, decent legroom and friendly cabin crew.
I've had worse flights on airlines like Iberia, AirBerlin and ArkeFly (nowadays called TUI).
Another Ukranian airline! Nice :D Thank you so much guys!
The дякую і допо бачення is so cool :)
Nice review Felix! Personally I find it hard to survive on a long haul flight without any entertainment
agreed
Love your video as always.
Fortunately, UIA is going to receive it's first 777-200ER in 2018)))
Waiting for trip-report about that bird :D
Nice to see Ukraine & Ukrainians. I wish there were peace & friendship again.
another great video :D
Congratulations, good video. haha Those applauses!
Your video is amazing as always. My first impression about this video is the huge TV in the B767, it's very very rare to see it on a B767 nowadays XD. I really love your video because it's rare to travel by Ukraine International and to onboard that old plane with a huge TV. One like for the rare and old B767 and one subscribe for your another amazing video. I look forward to seeing your next rare videos :D

Hello! 1 year ago UIA began using B777 on the most of their long-haul flights. They now have upgraded their service and they have IFE! Are you going to test them in future?
Never heard of this airline until now....thanks :).Nice tripreport thou
not bad! kinda old school aircraft, that reminds me how excited is flying when we was kids. Do you still remember your first flying experience?
When we were kids***
Nice as always =DDD
You need to check your camera.. strange noise when zooming and focusing :D
Can't wait for the next video! Keep it up!
Sorry to hear that your flight was mediocre at best, Felix. Thank you for your honest, raw, real opinions.
What a gentle landing!
Considering the Soviet era jets, this is a big step forward. I checked your ticket price, and quite frankly, you got good value.
For seat width, all you have to do is lift up one or two armrests to widen your seat.
Regarding entertainment, that’s what smartphones and personal tablets are for.
Most of you have no clue what EFI’s run at. Try $14,000 or more… per seat!!
3:01 I was about to say, I usually find 2-4-2 configs on the SAS A330-300
500.aviation Turkish as well on A330-300
same for Air Berlin. rip.
The A330s fuselage is wider, so a 2-4-2 is completely normal for a A330
Were you really tired during the midnight flight Felix?
They still have the legendary classic -500 and -300.cool
I like how you said when the aircraft was built
where do you book your tickets? and how do you find good deals?
Loved all your tripreports.big thumbs up from india
Welcome to Ukraine!Beijing-Kiev really interesting flight!Hope u enjoyed:)
Bei Flügen ohne Fluginformationen schalte ich immer Google Maps und GPS ein. Hat bis jetzt immer super funktioniert.
PS: super video👍🏼
UIA is soon gonna purchase B777, so it will be more interesting to fly on long distances
Олександр Кучер used or new?
Adityatama R factory new!
Used, Ukraine international recieved their first 777 in 2018 but they are around 15 years old
@@starfleetaviation5725 Ukraine is broke.
@@johnboz8087 I don't know about that , they should receive brand new 737MAXes, straight from factory , not from second hand.
I flew on UIA's 767 from JFK to KBP. Very outdated cabin. As seen in this video, the overhead bins are also really small. The crew had to pile handbags atop one another in the back galley during take off as there was no room for them in the overhead bins. The seats are extremely narrow. So much so that the thighs of my roommate we're touching mine (we were both average hight and weight). Also as mentioned in this video, there was very poor entertainment with the same 3 movies playing on a loop. With no map showing the progress of the flight, it felt endless. Although the service was quite average, it's an airlines equipment that makes or breaks a product. I'm really looking forward to UIAs 777s and I hope this will bring great improvement to the airline.
They've operated the 777-200ER for a short period then retired them, probably because of COVID. I've seen that they're placing order for some old 777-300s (not the ER variant)
Headphones and no ptvs. Seems legit lol
I have to wonder, did the plane have in-headrest music stations? That's what the Lufthansa planes that I went on in 2008 had.
The moment you entered the plane, i exited the video !!
Thnx for filming that, try to visit Ukraine without connection flights) and outro words are just awesome
No personal IFE on a long haul flight is a deal breaker
I thinked when I saw the video picture oh a 2hr flight but what it is a 10hr flight. How much did the tickets cost. If you could say it.
Hopefully the services will be better when they can “eventually” fly again from their main base. Nice to see they’re flying different routes outside Ukraine atm tho
Belíssimo Vídeo Parabéns
A very interesting location, airline, and experience, Felix. Did you get some sleep? For all the dated equipment, the crowded conditions, and mediocre food...it still looked like an average economy flight...these days.
Does this plane have PW4000s or JT9Ds?
How long was the trip?
Prices in € instead of ₴ is for purpose: most airline passengers are Ukrainians, and when they pay with their usual hryvnia bank cards, UIA's partner bank uses special conversion rate, up to 1.5 times higher than official one.
UIA basically suck, they have constant problems with overbooking, shitty tariffs and the service is minus three out of ten.
If you'll ever be back in Ukraine, try Motor Sich airlines. They use 40 year old soviet planes and this is not a luxury service, but a great attraction, and the plane itself is in-flight entertainment :D Flying those beasts is really exciting lol. And their prices are lower than UIA's and they actually do have some sort of service.
This Time Good Try and the Ukraine International Airlines Flights has been returned to Flights again today

I like Ukrainian airlines. Especially their Embraer jets, far more comfy than the 737. And actually the 767 looks pretty good.
Sehr schön. UIA scheint mir trotzdem sehr suspekt. Was ist jetzt ihr persönliches Resümee des Fluges?
thank you for your service
Small question:
How do you know the age of the aircraft?
Nice report as always Felix :D
You can check the date of registration/age of aircraft if you have the registration number of the aircraft and this is usually stated on the sides of the aircraft.
+Al P Or in the description of this video...
Al P Yea i know, but how and where do you check? :)
JKB just search the aircraft registration on planespotters.net or some other website
OMG. Is this 1990s? Are these planes still safe?
Wow... well, the flight report is very interesting, as there are not many of those reports from UIA. However, I wouldn´t have flown with them. This cabin is way to old and no personal IFE might get a bit boring if you don´t bring your own device. Food looked quite ok, similar to others, of course. Interesting insight views of this airlines! Thanks for sharing
This is one of the worst airlines that you've done a trip report on. NO PERSONAL TV SCREEN? WTF? FOR A 10 HOUR FLIGHT!!!
Welcome to post-Soviet countries!
MasterAustin and what take your godamn iPad with you
MasterAustin I did it form lhr-sfo hahaha. Time passes my dude
They don't have IFE , and it sucks . But you can buy a brand new iPad for the fare difference vs other airlines. And watch it during the flight and keep it. BTW (almost) new 777s will replace current UIAs 767s in the next couple years.
MasterAustin It's Ukraine bro)
Interesting trip report.. While IFE is important, more and more pax only use their tablets to watch saved content during a flight. Still IFE gives me a chance to enjoy a couple of recently released movies during a lh flight. I wouldn't mind trying UIA, for bargain bucket fare, Inc in business (business section was also rather dated)
Thanks for that trip video! As a Ukrainian, was touched after I have seen greetings in Ukrainian in the end of video!
If you’ve ever took a train in Ukraine then it’s pretty normal to have one huge tv for everyone to watch instead of your own personal screen. So it doesn’t surprise me to see the same sort of get-up in their planes as well. Most Ukrainians sleep so in-flight entertainment isn’t a big deal. As long as they feed you, give you drinks then it keeps them happy. My wife traveled to Canada with me and she didn’t bother with the movies or tv shows even though she had her own screen. She was just enjoying the flight even though it was 10 hours from Vienna to Toronto. I couldn’t live without inflight entertainment even though most times I play my Nintendo switch or 3DS but if there’s a few movies I never seen then it’s nice to have at least the option. My wife wanted to take the direct flight from borispol to Toronto non-stop but knowing that the flight may have not had inflight entertainment made me choose otherwise. I love Ukraine though. Totally awesome place.

Is that CCA? It's the only airline that I know of using a 3-4-3 in a 777 while flying long haul with no IFE
Abysmal cabin. Throwback to the times when the armrest ashtray was the only personal IFE you got a long-haul flight. The boxy 767 interior looks really dated. Wondering why haven't they done an overhaul to Signature interior or the NuLook aftermarket kit.
