  • Small Town City Photography - Fujifilm X-E4 & Fujifilm Fx 27mm F 2.8
    Small Town Photography has been extremely satisfying for me in the past few months. Especially when using my Fujifilm X-E4. Taking a more simplistic approach to photography and not chasing after epic sunrises and sunset really have been very refreshing for me.
    Hope you enjoy this one!

    I really enjoyed your video presentation. I think “Small Town” photography is an under represented genre.

    Nice video Steven! I bought the xe4 + 27mm kit a year ago. Sold the 27mm quickly after but really regret it. Probably gonna pick one up soon

      It’s a great little lens tat keeps the combo really small. I really enjoy it. I can understand the regret 😉 thanks for the feedback 🙏🏻

    I decided to buy the XT30 II after weeks of consideration as my very first camera and, although you talked about a different Fuji, your video helped so much! May I ask which lens you would advise for the start? The camera comes in two "Kits", one with the XC 15-45 mm lens and one with the 18-55mm. I would love to use the camera for my upcoming trip to England to shoot villages, houses, streets, churches, the beach. As I am just starting, I don't want to switch lenses all the time. I was recommended to go with the 18-55mm (but they did not have the kit with the 15-45mm in stock :-)). Do you think the 15-45mm would be ok to start or would I never forgive myself afterwards for missing the "better" option 18-55mm? Or would you recommend any other lens over the two mentioned above?
    Any advise would be so much appreciated! Thank you!

    • @StevenSchulzPhoto
      @StevenSchulzPhoto  Год назад

      I am glad it helped. If I would have to choose I would pick the 18-55mm f2.8-4. That one is definitely the better performer. But I think either lens would work ok if you are starting out. They are pretty similar focal lengths. Once you used it for some time you can see which focal lengths you used the most and see which lens to get next if you ever want to upgrade.
      I had the xt20 as my first Fuji camera and it was great!

      @@StevenSchulzPhoto Thank you so much for answering, this was very helpful! I went with the 18-55mm and I can't wait until the camera arrives (also a bit nervous :-))...

    Where did you find the square hood for the 27mm f2.8 ? I have searched and can't find one.

  • @mh7711

    is the Eye-Autofocus of this X-E4 with this 27mm lens better and more accurate than a Ricoh Gr III x with simmilar 40mm ? and will the sharpness of the fuji at the edge be as sharp as for the Ricoh, or even better? I dont find any comparisons between these two. I want to decide between this two cameras. I know that the Ricoh is extremely sharp in the edges even at 2.8, so I only would buy the Fuji if it is as sharp as the Ricoh or even sharper.

    • @StevenSchulzPhoto
      @StevenSchulzPhoto  Год назад +1

      Well I can’t speak on the comparison of Ricoh vs Fuji unfortunately. I have never used the Ricoh. They are similar cameras but also different in ways. When it comes to sharpness you can put different lenses on the xe4 so I am sure you will be able to find a lens that can provthat for you. The lens I use on my ex4 is the Fujifilm 27mm f 2.8. That lens is definitely plenty sharp for me wide open, which are barely ever shooted wide open. in the corners, it gets a little softer, but not dramatically. When it comes to eye auto focus I’ve never really use it, so I can’t speak on that. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I really like your external video POV. I never liked the usual body mounted Gopro which never matches the field of view of the taking lens, plus it induces motion sickness sometimes.
    Your approach is much better for the viewer.

    Good video. I also have a 27mm and I like that you have the square hood on it. Is it the same ones that go on the other Fuji lenses or is it something else specific?

    • @StevenSchulzPhoto
      @StevenSchulzPhoto  Год назад

      Thanks. Glad you like it. The lenshood I have is an aftermarket one. It’s made specifically for the 27mm but will fit other lenses as long as they have the same filter thread. It’s from a company called squarehood. You can find them on instagram.

    What film simulation/ recipe did you use for these photos?

      So I use a portra recipe for it mostly but only to get an idea of what it could look like in the end. I edit all my raw files and the recipe gives me a good indication .

    How can you tell if someone is a real photographer or not? If they shoot everything in portrait, they are not.
